Loading door and the latch to open to uhaul was frozen shut when we got it home. Employee hooked up the tire trailer for us but did not latch it properly so it tipped up when we drove the car on. We were told we'd get help and then no one would help us and one employee just did in the door way staring at us as we struggled. There was no washer fluid which was very unsafe in snowy conditions. Tire pressure was low. This rental experience was a complete nightmare.
LANG SFrom making a Uhaul truck reservation online, through pickup, until return, it was all an easy experience. The price was fair and the truck was very clean and in good shape. I don't think it could get any easier.

NICHOLAS JThe worst part of pick up was the uhaul mobile app. I didn’t have good cell service and the app was glitchy, and so it took along time to get to the part of the app where you get the lock code for the keys.
Rachel SI received notification that my pick up locationm changed from Cornwall, VT to Castleton which weas an hour away (2 hours total) vs 10 minutes. Not cool and impacted my friend who agreed to drive me (2 hours of driving!) I wanted a small van (10') and got stuck with a 15' van - too big! The 15' van steering malfunctioned in the Holland Tunnel in NYC. It had to be towed.
W MYou have a very good staff in Rutland Vermont. They went above and beyond to find me the equipment that I needed. It worked perfectly for me.

JohnPaul FMy rental return was not checked back in at the time I returned it and I ended up getting charged an extra day and even after disputing with my bill with credit card company U-Haul used the time of return on the receipt as evidence in arbitration to bill me extra. This is after I had contacted U-Haul customer service and they had talked to this location and verified that I had returned it in before 24 hours had passed. All my paperwork was online and I did not see the times until I got home and looked at my email. Not happy at all and feel like U-Haul ripped me off.

Sonia WConfused why the main office would call me after 5pm asking if I was keeping the trailer another day when I returned it to the rental location before 10am. The rental location representative backed the trailer in and unhooked the trailer. Miscommunication issue?

Cynthia MI had no car to get to Castleton VT. I live right next to the Rutland VT location. Rutland told me 3 times that they could bring me a truck from other locations to Rutland. Then I had to try and find a ride to get there. One of Rutland's employees a new trainee maybe Stephen initially put in my phone number and pick up date incorrectly. I had to walk to the Rutland location 3 times to fix problems and dealt with Patrick Jensen. Let's just say it was not always pleasant and he tried to help some but also seemed to not have lots of information correct. I was told things that were not the truth in reality. Once I called them and was sent to a call center and dealt with a very rude Rachel who had no interest in helping me except to say you must come to Castleton VT. I was told there is no worry we will have the size truck and location that you need to use. Then I was told I could get a 15 foot truck instead. We just barely fit all of our things into the 20 foot truck. Then I was never told Castleton VT location was closed on Saturdays and you had to check in and pay using an e-mail link on my phone. I was told someone could help me check in. I am technically challenged and needed a personal touch with an employee. Luckily my kids helped me out. We called Rutland location when we realized Castleton was closed because we did not know what to do then we had slight difficulty getting the check in to work right. I was told I had to call the call center again to help me with the issue instead as they did not know anything about this check in situation. I was never told how much gas to bring the truck back with but figured it was the same amount as it had when I took it. I was never told that if I dud nit out plastuc mattress covers on them they would get wet inside the truck. Its a metal truck I would assume that no water would get in it. Thankfully they seemed to dry. This whole experience had me frustrated, annoyed, upset, and in tears. After dealing with so much crap I just left the Rutland location feeling defeated that I would even have a truck in the size I needed on the day I needed it. I understand trucks come and go and are not guaranteed until the day before but this is ridiculous and poor customer service. I felt none of my needs were even important and no one cared to address any issues just leave me frustrated and unheard. Personally I was not impressed. I am not even sure I ever would want to utilize this companies services again and recommend them to anyone else. After the stress of packing and moving in general this whole situation only made things more stressful. I was quite disappointed in everything.
lynn wI live one street from Castleton Motors and I rented an 6x12 trailer. When I got it home I opened it up and it was dirty.pieces of cardboard and dirt all over the floor. Then I saw the rear tires were bald and I ask the owner if it was safe. He said yes. When I got home I saw the rear tire was going flat. I called the owner and explained it was going flat. He said theres nothing I can do and to call AAA. They didn't have boxes and tape. He says we just receive and rent uhaul out. Poor service, it's a mud hole. No asphalt in lot. It's a dump and terrible service. Take the u haul business out of the place.

Alison CHave the truck clean for me when I pick it up, have the person go over the details of the rental. I was greeted and made to wait while he took calls about a golf tournament and a customer of the actual business. I was handed a key and told I was all set. The truck was filthy inside the cab and box. There was significant body damage to the truck.

Karen HThere was no washer fluid or deicer or ice scraper in the van. Our reservation was for a 1500 one-way rental in the winter, those things should have been done before the rental was released. We had to stop numerous times to hand scrape ice off the windshield until we were able to get washer fluid and deicer at a gas station.

Allen GWhile in signing the contract, we asked the nice owner if the truck was clean. He said yes, when we went out we realized it was not. The owner said that it was what UHaul would consider "clean". Just an FYI, we had to hose out the back. It seemed like gardening material was moved in it, and cleaned the outside of the cab. We get that UHaul's are aggresively used, this was a bit too much. TY.

Natalie BCastleton motors saved me from going to a different company all together. The Rutland location double booked the truck I needed and changed my pick up location to Middlebury...45 minutes away from my location. Castleton Motors got me a smaller truck but for the time frame I needed and they were very helpful. I'd give them a good review, but not uhaul in general.
Elyssa EIt was awful! The person at the pick up location knew nothing about what to do or how to open the lock box. Then upon finially getting a code, ALL the keys were in the return box! THEN having to return the vechile and take pictures in the pouring rain before I could confirm the truck was returned. It took way longer than I had time for that day, and ALSO was quoted 0,79 a mile and then went to rent the truck and it was all of a sudden 1,29 a mile! RIDICULOUS!!! I will think twice before ever renting from uhaul again! I feel I should be at least reimbursed for the difference in the mileage! NOT a happy customer!

Zak HApp for returns was somewhat cumbersome and difficult to use. Ended up dropping off trailer after hours and calling the facility in the morning. They were very accommodating.

Gregory KI was charged $4 per gallon for 2 gallons od gas. Price gouging when gasoline is $2,3 a gallon. Rediculous!! Also you should let people know that the $19,95 for 24 hours rental will also add $14 insurance fee, and other hidden charges. It cost over $54 for the rental of your truck for 24 hours. I paid in cash but I got my refund in a check. I think all this should be brought to the renters attention. You get double charges for mileage and gas use. Whats the mileage charge for if not for gas use?

Dennis PI'm a long-time customer. The rig I rented this time did the job, so I'm happy to pay in full. But, it had issues: front end clunking noises, engine hesitation, the fuel gauge was inaccurate, and using the heater filled the cab with mouse nest smell. Plus, it could have been cleaner. Very happy with the professional attitude at pickup and drop off.
