A rental van that would cost 19,99 becomes 109 for the day if you are going anywhere for the rental to be useful. I can live with the 109 $but being charged a full day for being 2 hours over is unacceptable. I can get the same vehicle at Carter Rental for a lot less and not get gouged for a couple hours late. The operator at this location was also not aware I had pre reserved the rental the day before and was quite busy with daily operations of the store and check in was unnecessarily long.CHRIS L.

The gentleman that served me asked inappropriate and invasive questions which would be considered rude in my profession as a teacher. The van was clearly dirty on the outside and had not been washed. The interior also needed to be properly swept and dried as it was wet in the middle of the cargo bay of the van. If it were not for the price, convenience of location and availability I would have gone to the location on Welland Ave in St. Catharines where the employees were much more courteous, knowledgeable and thorough in ensuring the vehicle met a customer's expectations.sam S.

The parking space is not clearly signalized, where we can park the trucks. Also online said there should be a key deposit box, and there was none, I left the keys with the gas station clerk, not sure if that was the right thing to do. I was also asked by him to park the 26in truck in a very narrow parking space, because the other space blocked the car wash, well then it shouldn't be a parking space right? The truck was too small for what I needed, so I returned within 40 minutes having used 2 $of gas. I wanted to get a bigger truck, but I really struggled to understand the lady at the counter with her mask, so I ended up leaving empty-handed and without moving what I needed to get moved. I ordered a 9' Panel Van days in advance and received confirmation that it was reserved for me. On the day, I called to confirm that it was indeed ready and was told that I had a 10" Cube Truck waiting for me. When I notified them that I had ordered a van and not a truck they said that they did not have a van so I should call U-Haul. When I did, I had to wait on hold for about 20 min. and then when I explained my dilemma I was put on hold again. The call got dropped and I was sent back to the front of the line just to have to wait again for about 20 min. and have to explain the same situation from the beginning to another person. They too, couldn't help so they re-directed me to someone else just to tell me that there was nothing they could do. What a bloody waste of time. Out of desperation I used their truck but it was a piece of crap and it felt like I shook some fillings loose when I drove it. In the end I got the job done but it was quite an unpleasant experience. The other thing to note: don't be fooled by their 19,95 $/day advertising, It's really 19,95 $ for 8 hours only. Next time I'll give another company a try. They probably won't be better but at least I won't be knowingly giving my business to a deadbeat company.Ihor T.
I made the reservation on line. Process was quick and efficient. Supplies and truck were ready on time. I would have appreciated the customer service to let me know as soon as my rented truck was available through a text message as it was there 30 min before my renting time. If I knew, I would have rented 30 min earlier. Website indicated available time 30 min later. Also it would be an improvement to be able to make the reservation on the phone in advance. Reserved a truck for 9am. Received confirmation email. Was never contacted. Arrived to pick truck up at 9:15am. No truck. Told I have to wait until 2:15pm. Had movers ready for 10am. Had to pay them. Went to pick up truck at 2:15pm. Not there. Then told 4pm. Told the other truck they had was reserved at 6pm. Told them I had no choice and needed a truck. They allowed me to have a much smaller truck at 2:30pm. Then had to move with no movers, more loads, and have a 115 $charge, for a 70 $truck I was told I had a 50 $credit towards due to my reservation being denied. Very disappointed in this location. I have used uhaul to move multiple times and have never had such a horrible experience.Jordan L.

Why is that your service staff at your location in Welland, Ontario stinks the employee standing behind the counter is asking client to give him the reading of the mileage on the rental truck. Thijs location was AMAZING. It was a nightmare getting my truck in Winnipeg, and to top it off, the person working had changed my drop-off to the US. I'm in Canada and borders are closed. we rented this trailer in combination with a 20 ft uhaul truck that 2 days before we were scheduled to pick it up on June 30 it was in an accident and our reservation was reduced to a 15 foot which absolutely would not work (we wanted a 26 but had to settle for a 20) so this trailer got completely loaded just to have to un pack it and return it we should not have even been charged because it was not our fault the 20 ft truck was crashed and we could not use it thank youTracey G.

I explained I thought I could drop off in Vineland. I booked the truck wrong using the online option. The guy at the counter told me he could not make that work. There was a pick up at 130. So I paid for km to return back to the location respecting the time and my error. I returned it to a lady at the counter. I was a couple minutes late. She said no worries, there are no other bookings. I'm disappointed that he couldn't help me with my error and I paid for km to return when it could have been done.Katie S.

I reserved a 20' truck and was told one was not available. No apology, and man had very poor customer service skills. I ended up getting a 10' truck so extra trips had to be made which cost me extra money for the extended labour time, as well as extra mileage costs at 0,89 $ a km Was a very expensive experience. When we signed up, we had it until a Tues. Called day before and said can get it that night, extra day free charge. Got to Ottawa and found out was supposed to be actually Monday drop off. When at Niagara, they asked husband can drop off any location in Ottawa and he said certain place. They actually wanted it at a further place and told a customer it would be at that location. I had a horrible encounter last time and I swore I wouldn't use U-haul's services again. Not because of the company but because of the customer service rep that works there. I believe his name is Vijay. The last time we used this location, the experience was terrible so we were trying to avoid this location, unfortunately, it's the only location with the truck size that we were looking for so we had to use this location again (554 Niagara St). Because our last experience was so bad, we made sure this time we had everything in black and white and we were as polite with this man (Vijay) as possible. This man still over charged us again! He tried to up sell us on some insurance which we declined. This man still charged us for it and we questioned him about it, he said "My head is crazy today, I'll talk with you later". I kindly explained to him that we were just trying to clear this up because when he called us on the phone to complete the registration, we tried to use our debit card and he explained to us that if you pay with debit or cash you will have to take the insurance. The only way to opt out is if you use a credit card. So I gave this man my credit card and he still charged us and when we questioned him about it he told my wife there's the door and if you guys aren't happy then don't come back here. What an absolute moron. People in the store were looking at him. I have a video of him saying these things and even more nasty things to us on my phone and best believe this is going on youtube and every social media platform I have access to. I've never written a review before but this guy was just unbelievable. I also have a receipt showing that he refunded us for the over charge. The last time he tried to make me look like a liar and he embarrassed me and my wife. This time I have receipts and video footage. Dear U-haul, if you really want to make your experience for your customers better, please please please fire that guy or at least transfer him to another location. He is an absolute embarrassment to your business and anything customer service related for that matter.Emmanuel A.
The customer service rep is extremely rude and unprofessional. He over charged us and then berated my wife and in front of all the customers in the store. When we asked to speak with a manager he just ignored us and refused to speak with us. He needs to be fired! I called your customer service line and the agent I dealt with was not even trying to listen, he was more combative then helpful. He basically tried to make it seem like I'm the idiot and that I didn't know what was going on. He told me he would have a manager reach out to me, I have not received a call since. This is absolutely awful. Speaking strictly about the business, I have no problem with the business it's self, however, the customer service is piss poor. Please close the 551 Niagara location, the service rep there is a scammer. Vijay is his name, at least that's what he claims. Truck was not close to clean. In this day, where things are supposed to be sanitized, the truck was not even wiped. I spend an hour cleaning it when I got home.
