The system didn't work when we checked in/picked up the truck. It didn't work again when we returned it. Though the staff was amazing but afterwards we got charge $127+ tax extra. 120 for damage or missing item which the sales person confirmed was not the case. I am disputing it with Uhaul customer service but still haven't heard back. Its been frustrating as it was for a nonprofit and our budget didn't allow for such high charges. I hope we get our money refunded soon.

Ben KInterior was somewhat dirty. Outside, the truck had multiple scratches that were not identified when I picked up the truck. I had to take several pictures to document those scratches that should've been called out by u-haul
EDUARDO CI really can't think of anything to recommend for improvement. The only thing I found a bit frustrating was being delayed while the ONLY cashier had to stop helping me to check out customers for gas/convenience store. There should be a separate person to assist with check in/check out so renters aren't "put aside" for other customers.

Ricardo ATerrible experience with U-Haul unfortunately. I picked up a 15" truck at 4715 NE SUNSET BLVD, RENTON, WA 98059 at 11:30 AM And the truck agent / renter told me "Let me go and check if everything is fine with the car before you pick it up". Then in about 5 min he came back with a thumbs up saying all's good and you're good to drive it. So I took it home and loaded my stuff on that same day. The truck was fully loaded and I was going to drive all the way through from Washington state to Arizona and that was a curtail trip for me. There was no way I could cancel it whatsoever. The next day my brother joined me as a second driver and we headed early at 6:30am and it was already cold so we wanted to turn on the A/C (air conditioner). Guess WHAT ? IT DIDN'T"T WORK AND IT WAS BROKEN. Now !!! I can't cancel my trip. I called U-Haul customer service and asked for a technician to come and fix it. The technician called me around 8am and told me that he would be able to be at my location only at 9am which was too late. I decided to leave without an AC. And that was the most terrible experience I probably had in my entire life with any company. In Nevada it was -5 C cold and my brother started to experience terrible back pain which was shocking for me. I called U-Haul customer service a second time for help. The after hour technician came eventually. After spending a couple of hours on figuring out the AC issue he reported that it's NOT FIXABLE and that U-Haul should have made sure that it's functional before renting it to any customer. Also the customer service agent gave me a Reference Id - 4653940 saying that I'm supposed to receive a call from U-Haul to be somehow accommodated for the physical and emotional damage but I never had any call from them till this day. So we continued the trip to Arizona on Feb 25th. We froze our legs and hands while driving through Nevada. I expect a full refund !!!! I won't let this go without U-Haul taking responsibility for this type of terrible customer service. You guys can't dispatch a car without making sure it's functional. sergey mFor some reason my reservation didn't go through. But they were nice enough and able to do a walk in with their last available van. Which I greatly appreciated.

MCKINLEY HMartha, at the front counter, was so sweet and as helpful as she could be. But the UHaul online system/app is so flawed, and creates a huge waste of time. The system ended up requiring me to upload my drivers license several times, only to the keep me waiting while it tried to call a reference in person at 8:30am. What?!? Missing gas cap, and broken emergency break release.

Austin OThe UHAUL staff has been great to work with, your dealer network sucks. Invest in more stand alone stores, especially on the east side (Bellevue/Kirkland/Issaquah). Your dealers don't care, your employees do. If I was the CEO or on the board of directors I would change it and fix this broken business model and reduce your overhead by having centrally located uhaul centers with your own employees, fixed cost centers, and cooperative buying. In fact I can even give you additional insight into how to partner (strategically) with other corporations to increase your overall annual revenue. One example…I had a friend who just built a new RV park in Aberdeen WA for about $2M they sold it 2-weeks ago for over $5M If you build it they will come. You need help I do consulting work too
Scott RMake dropoff directions more consistent or individualize them by location; this location had no dropoff box, and Google said it was closed even though it's a gas station. If I'd dropped off after hours I'd have nowhere to put the key.

Lance TSo this experience was fine. The questions asked are pretty distinctly good or bad. The van wasn't clean inside or outside, but it didn't get my stuff all dirty, for example. The main reason I wouldn't recommend it was the app worked really poorly and wasted a lot of my time. Had I just been able to work with a person to return and pay, I would recommend this location.

Madison SSince it's not a truck facility, it's a bit cumbersome to have to do everything with my phone, enter the website, answer all the questions, take photos, no mailbox to leave the key, etc. I like the old way better where there was someone you could talk to, who greeted you with a smile and took care of everything. that was more satisfying.

Gas station attendant was difficult to understand Took too many steps and 20 mins to "check out" the truck, computer glitches Impossible to inspect truck in parking, too tight. Have to take photos of truck in the dark 22 miles driving 3 hours for over 80$, no where near the 19$ overly-hyped advertised price, less than a gallon used, that was extra. Previous rental stiffed us for 1/4 tank of gas, about 50$. Only use as last resort.
Hans sThey had problems logging into U-Haul website. They had lots of problem to download the data and pictures, the track oil tank cover was stolen, and they had to take another track oil cover and put it in the one I was leasing. we had to wait 35 minutes for arrival cashier to start and took him 25 minutes to access the internet and process it.

SALONI BCustomer service was excellent. One thing - I could not get any sound out of the truck radio.
Ian TI rented a van for 19,95+1,19/ mi. It was not the size described - but too late for me to change plans and use my own truck - so I used the van but had to make more trips. When I returned the van a couple hours later, I was also charged for a full tank of gas, SURPRISE! no mention had been made of gas charges on top of the daily and per mile rates. Apparently this information is in the contract, which I did not sign - I suspect the clerk esigned for me without my knowledge. So not only was it not useful - the whole point of getting a van was to do one trip - but I was charged double what I expected. Awful. Possibly illegal. Never renting from Uhaul again.
Sarah CErica was very helpful - thank you. The only issue we had was the slow response from the UHaul website as she was trying to process the transaction. Also, it would have been helpful if I could have preloaded my drivers license when making the reservation rather than having to do it at the pickup location. The cargo van was in good shape.
Dan Hclarity about how to access the vehicle, since we were set to get in via our smartphone. It did not work, there was a 45 minute wait on the phone. Fortunately the gas station the truck was kept at was open and the worker was a great help. Overall it took 45 minutes to pickup the vehicle, adding stress to our already tight schedule. It also resulted in extra charges because somehow the CDW was selected, where I had declined it when I made the reservation. The helpful guy at the gas station said he couldn't help with that. I still need a refund of ~$10.

Tracy MI have no complaints about Sunset Mobil or its employees, they were most helpful. But I do have to complain about the drop-off experience due to Uhaul's organization and planning. At 8pm on 6/29 I brought the truck to Sunset Mobil in Renton and attempted to return it using the mobile return option, but the website kept kicking me out and wouldn't allow it. I went inside the Sunset Mobil gas station to return the vehicle in-person, but was told that I was not on the expected return list. The employee tried multiple times to process my equipment return, but was unable to. I was there for over an hour. I had to wait for another employee on his night off to show up to assist us and he tried his best as well, but was unable to because Uhaul did not have me accessible on their list of equipment returns, even though they did verify the same vehicle was supposed to be ready to hand over to another customer the following morning at 8:30am. They took down my information and I turned the key into them. I have still not received any official confirmation of the equipment return.

Julie HI had a confirmed reservation at another location. I took an Uber there and was told no van and nothing they can do. I also had to wait in line 30 minutes and the online Uhaul reservation person didnt help at all. When I reached someone in traffic they sent me to a location 20 minutes away. I had to pay 11 miles of driving just to get to/from home. Then when I got the van the desk guy at new location was nice but the van was totally dirty. We had to pick animal hair off both seats to sit and the back was not clean. I cleaned it myself before I could put my stuff in. This was a fail by Uhaul on multiple levels.

Shahriar HHave the equipment there and ready. They didn't have the equipment they claimed to have. Tried charging more for equipment of lesser value. Took an hour just to go thru processing. They didn't have a good system in place at all. Mileage was off by a couple of miles, not in my favor so I had to pay extra. Would not use this location again.
Sean OAsking an attendant at a busy gas station store to also set up u-haul rentals is a recipe for terrible customer service. It is not very comfortable for the u-haul customer to wait while the attendant completes the order, which can take 15 minutes, and other customers have to wait until the attendant finishes. If the attendant tries to help customers while working on the order the system will log them out forcing the attendant to restart the process. This location should not be renting trucks.

Dieu NPlease have someone look at both the brakes and steering. Brakes were not good and the power steering was not working.

Sarah HI reserved 12 furniture pads but none were at the site. I was told I had to go to a different location to pick them up. I declined to do so and asked that the charge for the furniture pads be removed. The clerk said she could not do so and that I would have to take it up with corporate. When I returned the truck I asked again and was told that not only could he not remove the charge for the 6 pads that I did not have that the system would automatically add another 6-so I was charged for 18 pads that I never had or used. I will indeed be contacting corporate and if need the better business bureau and will leave a review on Yelp that highlights all of this.

Ken TIt's possible I overlooked this, but when estimating the anticipated mileage being driven during the online reservation process, it should be clearer that any extra miles driven will incur a higher price per mile. Online I estimated 20 miles. At time of pickup I was made aware of the extra cost if I went over so I raised it to 30. I ended up driving 42 miles. If I had said 50 miles from the beginning, I would have paid the lower mile charge. My point is why should the customer be penalized for driving a few extra miles? Next time I'll be smarter about this and estimate a way higher mileage use.
Joel AThe published rate for the van was $21 with what I thought were all costs. My 3 hour rental of your smallest truck turned out to be $95.00. That borders on deceptive advertising. I suggest you be more transparent.
John vTerrible drop off experience. My uhaul app told me to drop off at the sunset location I picked up at but for some reason the manager made it a one way and there was a confusion on which location to drop off no mention of dropping off at a different location no address or any information which delayed the drop off process and then some how I was charged an extra day fee when I brought the uhaul back the day I picked it up. I found out later this is just a uhaul kiosk and not an actual uhaul store. I will never be renting from here again save the stress and go to a uhaul store where they know what they're doing.
Brian HIt took me over an hour to get my truck rental because i had to pick up my truck at a Gas Station which meant the person that helped me was the gas attendant and Uhaul attendant. I was given the wrong truck and when i mentioned to the Attendant, she told me i had to call UHaul Roadside Assistant. However, the Field Area Manager was amazing in terms of how he helped me resolve the issue.
Connie YTrain your employees to know how to quickly and accurately give a rental to someone that has already booked it online. And don't tell them they get 50 free miles and then charge me for them when I return the truck.

Jialiang WThis location is not a full Uhaul - just a "kiosk" per onsite attendant. Was not able to check me out or back in at the counter (which I had specified in my reservation). Also did not have the extra rental equipment I had paid for in my reservation. I was told by the attendant to go to another location pick up those things. If you need full service don't plan to get it at this location.

Also want to add that the older man did not keep his distance. The steering wheel was off and made it extremely difficult to drive. I would never recommend this location or it's services to anyone. *when I picked up the truck, the young lady who helped me was very helpful and kind. That lady deserve a raise for following the rules and wearing her mask.
Guadalupe GThis was not the location I initially booked and I was very frustrated that the location was changed on me.
Brooks JThe attendant was the only worker onsite and was not trained to check out customers. The truck had an eighth a tank of fuel so we had to fill up before leaving. The truck door was frozen shut. The truck did not have the dolly or blankets in the back like we paid for. Luckily we were smart enough to verify before we left. We never got our blankets and the dolly they gave us had been sitting outside in the weather and was rusted. Because we had never received our blankets, we could not move a couple pieces of sensitive furniture which means we will have to rent a truck again, hopefully one from a location that prepares the truck for us before we get there. Overall, it took us an hour to get our truck and get on the road.
Angela KYour app sucks. I had to go into the location to do most of the work for returning the vehicle. I'm so thankful for Doug who did what needed to be done so quickly and efficiently. It's not really ride share if I have to enter the building to get the key for pick up.

Bryan CIt's a gas station without a drop box for after hours key return so you have to hand them to an attendant. I was told by Uhaul customer service that I had to return to this location. When I tried to do so the attendant told me I could only do it during business hours. This location advertised 24 hour returns so maybe they need to have a key box or work on educating the gas station employees about their return policy.

Heather WMajor technical problems completing the transaction through the web app. When onsite I was forced to go into the building and work with one of their staff members; who got very confused and frustrated himself because he did not understand any of it. To add to the issues and further delay, the card reader they had on the property did not accept anything but a strip. Touchless payment is ubiquitous and especially during a pandemic, it was disturbing to see the care-free attitude throughout and how many times Uhaul forced me to put myself at risk during my entire user journey. After eventually finding a card with a strip, the delay and issues compounded because the backend systems did not associate the card I used through the web app flow and the card i used to checkout on site. In the end, we figured it out. For me, this was not worth $80+ in addition to the time that I lost having to deal with Uhaul's lack of backend system maturity and clear lack of training of onsite personnel (whoever may be accountable, that is). I've used Uhaul my entire life and I was very disappointed to have to pay for that terrible experience.
