Location and service at the south Bauer location was great. Edgar wasn't great was that the wire on the website was $200 less than what i had to pay in the end. 25 %more than quoted. The location was changed, the price went up, then an extra fee was added, then a cleaning fee (trailer was empty and cleaned by us). The people good. U-Haul policy and practices are inappropriate.

The front desk staff are indifferent every time I go to this location. My most recent experience included being asked to move some stuff I returned over to a different area (which is fine) but the desk staff then proceeded to invite another customer up and I waited for my receipt until I finally interrupted so I could leave. One customer at a time would be the more appropriate approach.

Fast, friendly service. They called me the morning of my hitch install to inform me that my hitch hadn't quite arrived via courier yet, to save me leaving my house early. Called as soon as it arrived and my install was still completed faster than anticipated. Great customer service and my hitch looks awesome. Merci les gars!

The redundant swipe in with your card could be frustrating at times and the fact that you swipe on. The right then on the left to get in separately.

First van given had pools of water on floor in back and condensation on ceiling. Had to ask for new van. Second van had 2 dents on outside passenger side door area and scraped plastic on passenger mirror. There was also 3 dents on inside wheel well. I was there for 40 minutes past time due to all this. The staff are great and friendly, not a problem with them.

We ended up requesting a refund after seeing the unit which required portable stair access. The person who checked us in said almost nothing to us during the process and we were not comfortable keeping the unit lease.

The website for booking storage lockers is very misleading: it posts a price followed by bullet points - upper/lower/floor/sizes etc. It posts one price, then when it's time to book you find out the actual price is higher. CLARITY on your website would be much appreciated. As a customer I resent being mislead by small print and hidden charges. It leaves a bad taste.

My overall experience was excellent. Le service a été excellent. The vehicle was clean. But the fuel tank was only 3/8 full and the high beam toggle was not working properly so I had to hold it forward with one hand while driving with the other hand to keep the high beams on.

Yes, your facility is clean & accessible. However, I wouldn't recommend you to anyone. My storage fees increased by 25 % over 2 years. This is deceptive & shady business practice. I've used other storage facilities over the years & this was not the case. I chose U-Haul based on a specific monthly rate that I could afford & I wasn't informed by a staff member (prior to moving in) about your frequent increases in fees. I found out after I had moved in & after it was too inconvenient to move out (I'd already paid for the moving truck, movers & had left the city). I assume that's why you do it this way: quote a low price to draw people in & then after they move in, frequently increase their monthly fees knowing it's challenging to leave after all the effort has been invested. Shady. You should be clearly informing customers that this is part of your business model BEFORE they move in. I'd respect & recommend a business if they were honest, upfront & transparent from the start - which you were not.

The actual maintenance of the vehicle is horrible. Wiper blades were just as shot as the front end of the truck I rented

You need to made quote clear. I rented the car with a price per KM at 1,09 but went I returned the car the charges was base on Milles at 1.75. So and the end I pay more.

Sohini's customer service and professionalism was commendable. I wanted to install a hitch and wasn't sure if I will get a bike rack from there however Sohini recommended top notch bike rack called Thule and it's apparently one of the best. She quoted me an all in price which I found very reasonable and was thrilled to know that the technician Avinesh installed everything within an hour and also showed me a demo on how to take the rack off in winter. I highly recommend visiting this location and meeting with Sohini for your hitch and bike rack needs.

Some cigarettes smell in car after having installed the hitch in the car, it is not good for the customer and I do not feel good for it, but overall is good, staff are nice and polite.

Be sure to photograph the gas gauge and odometer when you pick up and drop off! They will charge you for fuel even if you return the truck full, and Customer Service will not investigate unless you have photos.

It was a frustrating experience. I tried to use the app for pickup and the app was glitching so I couldn't use it. I called and asked for an in-person pickup instead. When I got there, she went through all the paperwork and sent me across the lot to a parking spot. An empty parking spot. So I had to find someone to help me find the vehicle. Then it had very little fuel, despite the record saying the tank was full. So I had to wait in line for a long time to get them to update that on file for me and at the end of my move they STILL tried to charge me for the difference in fuel. Luckily I was paying attention during the checkout procedure and disputed the charges. I haven't heard back yet. On the bright side, the staff was friendly and the equipment was clean.

Frequently there were no moving dolly's available. They seem to get moved to the East side and the signage suggests a fine will be given if you go to that side to retrieve a dolly. Once I realized that I wouldn't be fined I would go and get one, but it was frustrating. Also having to enter my code twice to check in and open the door seemed redundant and the garage doors seldom worked. Those were the only real downsides. Very clean and bright.

Better parking for customers. There is a construction site on Ross Street and street parking was full. I parked in still reserved for trucks which I usually do. I had the 15ft truck for only 4 hours. Staff on duty were pleasant and got me out with vehicle quick and out with checking vehicle promptly

Pickup extremely bad. Early pickup scheduled and confirmed with location by phone. Online app not working and had to wait an hour until store open and then wait 20 mins in line. 1,5 hours wasted - no apology, no compensation. Drop off very good - efficient and easy during business hours. Vehicle was fine.

Trailer reserved (6x12) never supplied. I finally gave up and returned the substitute (5x8) and ended up going to Pitt Meadows for what I had reserved. 5x8 running lights didn't work, but they did on the 6x12. Marine dr. Cancelled the second reservation they put in for the 6x12 without even telling me. Very displeased. We'll see what your reserve guarantee is worth.

The 10ft truck needs engine maintenance. Massive small bearings squealing at high volume for the first 20mins or more. Back roll down door jams 3/4 of the way up. This location has a good supply of everything. Initial booking was at another location that could not honor the reservation due to a technical systems issue where the code for the lock box key could not be retrieved. Lastly, after downloading the app for Android, repeated attempts to create a login password FAILED. Some kind of glitch. I tried 10 different ways including password resetting. Terrible experience. That being said, the truck was appreciated as we got our job completed at a decent cost.

I've had TERRIBLE experiences with other U-haul units, but I must say that the SE Marine Drive delivered me the extreme opposite of that. The staff is fantastically well-prepared, easy going and friendly. Everything from customer service, through booking processes, and cleanliness and maintenance of supplies and vehicles is INCREDIBLE. I 100 % recommend this location and leave my compliments to all staff members, from the ladies at the counter who answered all my questions and gave me all the instructions I needed, to the gentlemen who inspect, clean, and organize the trucks outside the building. GREAT GREAT GREAT SERVICE! Definitely 5 stars!

I got a 10 feet van today and lucky I took a photo of the gas meter before I got going. Before returning the van I went to fill up the gas making sure it was more than I started with. Surprisingly I was charged with fuel and I had to show the guy the photo I took before driving the van. He tells me to go line up to speak to the kiosk about this. So I waited for 10 minutes lining up for a service person could speak to me, while I saw at least four service person chatting away and going away from the kiosk. When another customer came in to cut the line they got service immediately and I had to tell them I was in line which was really not pleasant. To add to this, I wasn't pleased with their professionalism whom they spoke another language really loud joking around.

I went three times in the last week. The associate was hilariously rude. I walked in to the Langley location where 4 employees were. Not a single one said hello. Two walked away and the one I ended up talking to picked up the phone before greeting me. Then I was informed I had to provide a second phone number. I explained that I don't have one and left the store as she was insistent I needed one. Although she took my credit card for security. The truck latch was not working properly and the fuel was all over the place. I know U-Haul likes to scam people out of gas, but just require people to fill up the trucks. It'd make like 1000x easier for everyone. Thanks for being terrible.

Above Average because of female employee overusing and often blocking the washroom for her convenience during the working hours. Apparently as a refuge during the long hours of her shift. Extremely positive and friendly staff! I kept having little issues from being tired from moving and they never made me feel dumb, just helped me!! I was shocked at how secure the place was, from lighting to cameras, I have no doubt my stuff is safe! Also very convent to be able to drop off my U-Haul at the same place.

My experience with U-Haul at SE Marine Dr was a good one. I knew my belongings were safe and being kept clean. The parking lot at this U-Haul is horrible, however. Crazy drivers, children playing around in the parking lot - difficult to do a simple drop-off or pickup. But the customer service folks were always pleasant. I appreciated that!

Why is the owner of the store so rude for no reason. He didn't want to help with anything, very rude, no customer service, didn't want to deal with me, he shouldn't be allowed to be around customers. Please avoid this location unless no other option.

I had to constantly go back to the front counter to ask for instructions to get access for he storage and storage location. Basically had to beg to get someone to come open to door for me as I was punching my code on both intercom and it wasn't working. Finding the location of th storage was another struggle. They simply don't know how to give instructions and directions. The place wasn't busy. They could've come to point out where it was, instead, they got me running up to the over 5 times to receive extremely poor instructions. Do not recommend at all!

The locker I was given was not big enough for the contents of a one bedroom apartment as it was advertised. I had to change lockers with movers waiting.The online booking process does not allow you to choose a locker without stairs . The intercom system doesn't give clear instructions about having to press star before entering your code then pound after. It needs to be on a sign by the intercom

As noted to the front staff the guys bringing the trucks around the building drive way to fast (sometimes 50km/h) a few times I was leaving and had to stop abruptly because of this

My one concern is that as I moved from one storage room to a larger one I did not get credit for the month I had paid for meaning that I have paid for two rooms while only using one. Not a fair approach to customers.

Reserved online, the website said there would be a free lock in our unit when we arrive. There was no lock inside, and front desk was closed (had to come after work). Nobody answered at the intercom by the loading dock (says 24 hours). Had to leave our belongings outside in our trucks overnight, and come back in the morning for the lock. Waste of time, money, and gas driving back twice. No effort made by the rep to compensate for their error. Rep just said "sometimes they forget to put a lock in the unit". Wasted a day that I was charged for.

Only had one problem. The bigger unit I had was pretty dark and I had to use my own light source (phone) to access some of my stuff. Other than that, the staff were amazing and I liked to work with all of them. I liked the facility.

When I arrived at the storage facility it wasn't clear which loading bay would lead to which units. Once I finally found my unit, it didn't have the lock that was promised and despite the size, the things that I needed to store would not be able to make the turns required by the walls in front of the unit. I couldn't get ahold of anyone and had two tired movers who still had to catch a ferry home so I was forced to start calling any other options. Thankfully, I found someone who could open up a unit for me. Now, to get a refund for the unit that I can't use, I was on hold for 10 minutes when the call restarted and asked me to again choose my reason for calling.

We had never rented a storage unit before. They we're helpful and courteous. It was very busy so it took a while in the wait line but that happens - especially at month end. Staff were very helpful as we got used to the sign in and out processes.

Front desk staff took over an hour of my time to check in. I booked a vehicle and a storage locker online and filled in all that was required. Staff member unsure of bookings and had to re do vehicle booking . I drove it 14 km filled it with 20 worth of gas and returned in in 3 hours immaculate. I estimated 20 km and 8 hours on the online booking but the staff member came up with a 150 km 1 day 105 dollar fee. We had to start over with a new reservation and booking.. I had to photo and give drivers license to the staff member multiple times. Same with credit card payments as well. I have rented vehicles before from that main location with the same online booking and never had an issue . Re the storage locker, I wanted to purchase a lock and was initially charged 11.95. It was not explained the lock can be purchased with the locker for a lower price and is already in the reserved locker.Please train your staff members before subjecting them to customers. .

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent experience at your SE Marine location. The lack of due diligence and poor customer service have left me deeply disappointed. Upon retrieving my Ubox, which had been transported from Ottawa, Ontario, I discovered a severe ant infestation. Despite promptly reporting the issue, I was met with disbelief and refusal to acknowledge the problem. This neglectful response jeopardized my belongings and left me no choice but to rent a storage locker at additional expense. Furthermore, a security concern arose when a suspicious individual was observed following me within the facility during my move. Although I reported the incident, no action was taken, leaving me feeling unsafe and uneasy about leaving my possessions unattended. I urge you to address these concerns promptly and ensure a safer and more respectful environment for your customers. I hope for a swift resolution that reflects a commitment to customer care.

Please answer the phone your customers especially already established customers who call and want to ask you something need you to be polite and respond they are paying customers and expect the phone to be answered not put on hold all the time. Half the time I had to come into the building to get help.

The room I reserved was not available. Loading dock was blocked. How to use card was not demonstrated (swipe slow) so my alarm kept going off. When trying to view a storage locker staff told me to back up to building with trailer, then left me to do it on my own with no spotter and went inside building to wait for me. I waited outside by door for ten minutes until and they came outside and said they were waiting for me inside and I should have used my card. I had to explain that I don't have a card, they are showing me rooms. The whole experience took too long so now I owe an extra day on the trailer rental. My experience was awful and I will make sure to inform everyone I know moving to Vancouver, especially all my paramedic colleagues.

The storage is well maintained and easy to access. And the staff is friendly and helpful. The location is great and it has lots of trollies. One suggestion is the move-out process. I called in to notify my move-out, but I didn't get any confirmation email later. It would be better if there's a process to let customers know that their move-out is finalized and they won't be charged for next month.

There was no trash, cans and people leave all their garbage at the loading docks. There were very few dollies around. Calling the facility was excruciatingly long. When I rented the truck, that was an absolute horror show. I would never in my life recommend U-Haul for anything. I recently rented from driving force, and it was a breath of fresh air.

I had to pay for an entire month, just because I didn't move out my things a day before my next billing date , even after calling the facility, I still wasn't given access to move out my things , so I just had to waste money and pay for an entire month for no reason . the overhead door seems to be always locked on the loading bay, the one where a car can park, it's very awkward to move large items through the regular size door, it would be very helpful if the loading gate were available to use.

I love the branch in Surrey but I must say it was disappointing for me with this branch. - from beginning I booked a big one higher price - I received an alternative that the front desk girl (working on Saturday only) said "it's the only choice you have now". I can even pay more to get - it was not on first floor as I booked but on the second one - the building was like a maze, she told me to get into the firs loading dock only and get inside to go the other side. She drew this on the map also. But when I loaded in, it was wrong and not connected. - No one was there to assist - it took ne 2-3 hr to figure out how to open the door, and where the room is actually. - the price is 10$ cheaper than my original book? Sorry I don't care. It took too much time (on a hurrying moving day) to figure out the room/ the lock/ and the loading upstairs. I'm Uhaul customer many time but this branch is problematic - Communication is bad!

Facility was good. Main issue is with the minimal parking for storage clients. I realize you have a lot of trucks to store in a limited sized site, but it seems to me that reserving a few spaces for short term storage access on the opposite side of the driveway, at least during daytime hours, would be helpful to continuing and future customers. Spelled my name wrong despite holding my ID Surprised to see online reservation doesn't actually reserve anything Then staff seemed disinterested in helping me out Ended up waiting 15 minutes to see if the locker was available, with not much explanation Then when I asked for an explanation on to how/ where to use the card, she drew a picture with a highlighter to explain. The place wasn't busy, and it only would have taken 10 minutes of time to show me. All in all, disinterested staff made the experience sub par. No wonder storage alarms go off constantly

the staff lacked good customer service skills, especially when I was moving in. Nobody told me that the gates had to close at 7 so I had to move my things in through the small door. They also really rushed my moving in process as well (nobody showed me where my locker was, told me there would already be a lock on my unit when there wasn't.)

This rating is deceptive since my "move in" was over 10 years ago and was fairly flawless, as any move can go. My recent experience was that I could NOT pay for my storage unit online through my bank with a debit card, my usual payment method. When I contacted my location to ask if there was an issue with the website, the person answering the phone said NO". She said payments had to be in person or by credit card. As I do NOT have a credit card (she suggested I borrow a friends credit card to make the payment - NOT an appropriate suggestion) and at the moment I have tested positive for covid and need to be in isolation so in person was not possible either. She said that I needed to find an option or else there would be a late fee applied. I kept having an issue with the website, it would NOT let me go to the payment option to make my payment. I tried for over an hour, reloaded the website, changed my password. It just wouldn't let me access my account. I finally contacted head office and they said they were having an issue with the website, just like I thought. They were very helpful and able to process my payment for me over the phone with my debit card. And emailed me my receipt within about 10 minutes of taking the payment. Thank you Head Office.

Worst experience renting either a truck or a storage facility from someone. Took me 2 hours to try and rent a truck, which they couldn't even find on their own lot, the storage ynit wasn't even usable as the last tenant still hadn't taken their stuff out, and there was no other unit available anywhere near to where were going, meaning I've now got stuff stacked floor to ceiling in a short term stay location. Definitely wouldn't recommend this location to anyone ever!!! Whether the staff were nice and friendly was not what I cared about, getting what I needed in a timely manner was. Instead, I spent all night hauling stuff 2 hours from where I started, went back got more stuff and took it 2 hours back. All in all, I spent 7 hours longer than I needed to be spending trying to get the stuff out of the last place so it wouldn't be thrown out.

Would be very helpful if the first time you come, someone would take you from the reception desk to your locker, right from the beginning. Instead I was directed to the wrong entrance, wasn't told how the access system worked, so I had to wait for attendant, who then had to walk me all the way back to the other side of the building that I originally started at. Frustrating and confusing.

I was a client for like 2-3 yrs at the cost of bout 500$ a month roughly 12,000$ to 18,000$ ipaid in storage fees. I was behind a few times but always paid it. Bout a week or two ago they put my lockers for auction i called and asked to give me couple weeks and id pay in full. On the auctikn site it clearly says that the auction can be canceled at any time before the auction starts or during if the client paid in full before someone won said auction. Your facility said to me even though it clearly says on the site that the auction can be cancelled that it was impossible to give me a couple weeks to pay if i wanted to keep my stuff i had to pay in full before acution. Now i lost approximately 40,000$ to 50,000$ worth of tools and equipement for my work not only that but lost my job cause sonw of the stuff belonged to the company i work for and they think i sold their tools and made up a story. I have a 1yr old daughter and another bb on the way in march. You facility is by far the worst faciltiy there is in the entire storage facility centers the manager and staff are rude and dishonest. Im gonna make it my life long work to inform everyone pozsible threw social media and any other means what happened and why and how uhaul as a whole is by far the worse possible storage facilty in existence. Also says that under certain circumstances that some of the items sold in auction must be returned to the client who was the owner of the locker before auction at the price that items where bought for to not circum to possible court issues. So im hiring a lawyer to exercise this option. I have to retrieve certain items as they did not legally belong to me and in turn should be returned like i lost my job cause they told me they couldnt do anything about giving me a couple weeks to pay which was a lie and basically put my family into poverty.

Worst experience I've ever had when moving. I ordered a container to come to my house on the 28th. They let me wait half the day and after being told it was coming, by 4 pm they advised me it wouldn't be coming due to no drivers showed up for work! I then had to rent a storage unit and a truck and move items myself as fast as possible and then fly to Edmonton in the morning. I needed to ship the container to Edmonton but since that never happened, I had to travel back to Vancouver and move things myself which was very costly and stressful!! Never will I ever use uhaul for moving or storage ever again!! In fact I would like to be compensated for all the costs and stress it created for me. Nobody should ever have to go they that especially someone who has medical conditions. Horrible horrible service. Oh and when I had to book the storage unit, they booked it in the USA and not even at S.E. marine drive so when I arrived they there was a confusion as well and barely had a unit to give. Again worst experience ever!

Monday, October 3, 2022 When I sold my home March 2015, yikes,I have stored my belongings at 1070 SE Marine Drive, Vancouver. We were trying to decide if we wanted to buy a second home and move those items then into second home. Work got so busy and I could not make up my mind...hence 7 years has passed. The fees kept rising, inflation, and finally I retired and have sold most of my items. I feel relief and I had to take that long to 'grieve' my sentimental attachments to my belongings as I worked so hard to acquire them. It was much easier to speak in person with the friendly and kind staff at this location instead of being hooked up to some USA telephone operator. Because I was working full-time this was my only option. Definitely I will use this U-Haul Storage location again in the future. No elevators, no punching in a bunch of codes, good parking space, easy to drive to and I love the different ethnicities who work at this location. I have also recommended U-Haul to others. Since I moved out 9 days before billing date do I get any money refund if pro-rated? I forgot to ask at the counter yesterday.

I have had my locker longer than the stuff in it was worth, lol. However, I have always found it extremely clean, safe and the staff from counter personnel, the people that are outside returning trucks and the staff that are responsible for keeping it all clean, to be wonderful to deal with. I would only suggest, if possible, for more parking up top. But great place and I thank you for keeping my belongings safe and dry. Jen

I have hd a storage unit at the SE Marine Drive location for almost three years. Any time that I have needed customer support, the staff have been unhelpful. Unacceptably difficult to contact them with questions over the phone. Even more difficult to reach a manager. Staff at the front desk have poor communication and consistently put in little effort to give good customer experience.

Service in the shop was excruciatingly slow, and the staff could not tell me how to find my unit (among thousands). I was given vague (and ultimately inaccurate) directions to go into a certain part of the building which turned out to be nowhere near my unit; after searching for nearly an hour and pressing the call button multiple times asking for help, someone finally came and lead me to my unit. I would never have found it on my own.

Tried to get reservation a week in anadvance. They told me they would confirm the details the day before I needed it. They called. Told them "no. That was not the reservation" . They said the y call back. Never did. I called 5 more times. Got passed around to 3 different people before being told they call me back again. They didn't. Had to go and hire a van from home depot. The morning of my moving date. I was told on the phone that the storage locker was free for the first month. It wa not. Said no recollection of reservation. Charged me $330.00. For the storage locker that had steel structural framing in the middle of the room, east to west, floor to ceiling. The stress, anxiety and process is something we can all do with out. Look at all options if you're moving and in need of storage.

You can not reserve from the website without it crashing, but you implement new features that sont work without fixing basic functionality. You cannot reserve but phone because you're own system doesn't consider height of a storage unit despite this being extremely important. But you aren't told about any of these issues until after you come to put stuff on your unit and address told it's no longer available. You are then given the run around, few employees or call center workers can do anything, and then you have to tell the manager how to do their job. They also can't even hold a unit for you in a neighboring facility because managers can't call each other directly, they have to wait in hold and get hung up on. This is a ridiculously broken system that leads to horrid customer service, despite your employees doing the best they can with a broken system.

The staff were excellent and the facilities were adequate. The access card reader was incredibly frustrating to use, an experience I frequently witnessed other clients going through as well. The website was clunky and awkward to use, and simply wouldn't function when used in Firefox, which created some very frustrating situations.

I had nothing but a bad experience, I reserved a larger unit but to be told it wasn't available on the day I moved items in. The lineups to speak to someone were incredibly long. Trying to call the location was ridiculous, either you couldn't get through or the person would hardly answer the question. I met people on the lineup that had to show up to the location to speak to someone because they had no luck calling. The bathrooms were disgusting on the warehouse. The day I tried to remove/clean out my unit all the bays were blocked but one by workers. I was seeing people having to try and carry items down the street to their cars because there wasn't even enough parking in the lot for them. We were rushed in the one available bay yesterday to remove a mattress, box spring and couch. Just ridiculous when people aren't warned the bays are blocked and have trailers coming from another city. At least warn customers about this ahead of time.

Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience getting accidentally locked outside the exterior door when my storage locker was still unpadlocked inside (I was going back and forth between it and my car in the loading bay...). As this happened maybe 5 minutes (if that) beyond the usual access hours, I then spent literally *hours* composite on hold with Uhaul call centre employees who knew *nothing* about the hours or security or location where I was / were completely unwilling to facilitate remotely. It is *mind-blowing* to me that a facility that has doors that lock automatically doesn't have a contingency plan put in place for people who might need to go back and check they locked their locker properly or might have left personal belongings inside and allowed the door to lock behind them by accident. (No securtiy guard on call? No way to call to *local* employees of the chain instead of some call centre elsewhere with reps who clearly couldn't have cared less?! Unreal). The experience caused me and my partner a stupid amount of unnecessary stress, and for this reason, I can't imagine I'd ever recommend Uhaul to anyone. It made moving even more exhausting than it needed to be when there should clearly be ways to help help customers in this instance. Unbelievably bad call centre service and failure to provide critical facilitation to a customer who made literally a split second mistake at the exterior door. 0 stars.

Would have appreciated that when I call the location that the location answers the call instead of being transferred to a Call Centre in the US. I left messages at Call Centre to be called back and no one did. Also, when there is a huge line up, bring in more counter staff to assist - like at a grocery store. After 8 years I came in on Sunday to upgrade my unit from my 5x5x8 to a 10x10x8. I wanted to move everything over. I was told I had paid tell April 11 and didn't have to rush. I explained I don't want to pay for 2 units Tony said he couldn't do anything about that since we have already paid. We got charged on Monday the 14 for both units. We trusted him and he made us pay for both when we are only using one that is wrong and you need to do something about this.

Dealing with the office staff is a nightmare. The computers often don't work properly so the staff is doubling up. There is always a long wait. It must be company policies but there's a lot of "fine print" which aggravates everyone that walks in there judging by the amount of irate customers who leave. The parking lot has too many u-haul trucks parked in it, not enough customer loading/unloading and very narrow. They built a new wider sliding door to the storage facility but it's always locked from the inside. I do have to say that the facility is very clean and they try their best to keep bugs out of the lockers.

I just moved my items yesterday & front staff either was not well trained or indifferent. Lock was not included in the locker & while waiting for the lock at front desk, customer service was poor. Lock unavailable & needed to wait additional 20mins for further assistance from a more senior associate. I was evicted for bringing my very well behaved dog into the facility and it was during the middle of the night when no one else was there. I was a very loyal customer for almost 3 years and had 24 hour access. The manager said he had warned us verbally before but I know nothing about this. In any event he gave me 72 hours to be out, took away my 24 hour access and I had access from 7 am to 7 pm. Well I work so this was not possible and I ended up having to rush my huge locker of stuff out onto the loading dock and was left there to move it all night because it is very difficult to find storage in Vancouver. I asked him for his bosses #, called and was told she was on holidays of course. Left my # to have someone calle and have had not a peep to this day a week and a half later. Horrible customer service skills and terrible people to deal with at the south Vancouver location.

My only issue was the mice infestation. I had to dispose of a double mattress and expensive down filled hide-a-bed couch and anything fabric due to urine. Very unfortunate. So no , unless someone was storing car tires, or sports equipment, I would not recommend any storage facility.

Your storage facility was quite clean and tidy, if my experience with Uhaul had only involved the storage space I could easily offer a 5 star review; however, on either end of my experience with the storage was an extremely unpleasant experience with beat up, run down trucks, with inaccurate readings on fuel gauges and odometers. On both ends of my trip, fuel gauges AND odometers were not recorded correctly, loaded with 1/4 tank of fuel, and the difference was charged to me unless I had clear evidence showing the difference. Additionally, if you return a vehicle with less than 1/4 tank, they add an additional fee, which leaves the vehicles rented with 1/4 tanks immediately ready to add said surcharge. None of this even starts to address the condition of the rented trucks, which seem like a game of Russian roulette given how loose the steering and suspension were. I mentioned when returning the vehicle that the condition of the vehicle was quite poor, and the inspecting fellow grimaced as though it was a common complaint. Not only will I NOT be back, I will ensure that I share my experience with others. Decidedly the worst rental experience I've ever had.

Business model is do messed up. I reserved a space that didn't appear to exist when I arrived with a truck load of things to store. It took an hour working with U-Haul staff to find the space and then find something closest to what I reserved. That wasted my time and uHaul',s time. What's worse us that EVERY customer seemed to be going thru the same kinds of problems...what they reserved was not available when they showed up...

Move in was confusing. The person I went to in the show room was less then helpful with helping me find my unit. I was walking around aimlessly with a toddler trying to find it. Ended up having to go back the next day for a lock. Once in it wasn't terrible. Although the 2 codes isn't that easy outside with a toddler running around and no help. I had so many issues getting my storage unit, I had booked one to be on the lower floor and checked in when I went to pick up a U-Haul. Then arrived to find out they had changed my storage locker only by going and finding the unit they assigned me locked. I went to the front and asked what was happening and they had changed me to unit on the upper level after specifically requesting and booking a lower unit level and paying more for that lower unit then an upper level unit. As majority of my items weighed over 200 pounds I didn't want to be lugging it up stairs for the move. I went to the front and asked why my unit was changed and requested that it be changed to a lower level. The staff I was dealing with seemed annoyed and told me I could have a different unit but have to pay an extra 80 dollars a month for it. I asked to make sure it was on the lower level and she said it was. When I went to load my stuff it in turns out the unit was STILL on the upper level. So now not only am I paying 200 dollars a month for a crappy unit I had to lug every item up the stairs and run around for an hour trying to figure out what was happening with my unit. Very very unimpressed with U-Haul and will be looking to move my storage elsewhere as soon as possible. Nothing was transparent or simple and would not use U-Haul storage again.

I had $50 000 worth of valuables stolen from my locker here, and they had no video in the corridor the locker was in. They never respond to alarms when they go off, which is just plain incompetent and unprofessional. They were not friendly or helpful. I don't recommend storing valuables here.

All of the Marine Drive staff were helpful. One of your warehouse cleaning/maintenance staff at Marine Drive was incredibly friendly and very helpful. Don't know her name, but she is in her 50s (?) with light brown/blonde/grey hair. I saw her on several occasions, the last time was about 9am October 1st, 2021 in the East warehouse. She should get a raise.

the monthly automatic payment was not activated by the staff member and I got notices for nonpayment and now i have closed the account the standing order has been charged to my MasterCard and i will have to go to the office to get the payment reversed THE 2 $15 charges for late payment were never reversed and credited to my Mastercard when the error was U-Haul not me no I will not use U-Haul again

I moved into a unit here on September 1st. On August 31st, I reserved a storage unit online. I received a confirmation email later that day, confirming that I had reserved a unit. When I showed up on the 1st, I was told that the booking doesn't exist, and they had sold out of the size unit I had reserved because apparently the units are first come first served. There was literally no point to doing an online reservation. I had to book a smaller unit instead, except the unit I originally reserved is somehow still in my name and is moved into, despite the fact that the reservation apparently didn't exist and someone else moved in there first. The card I was given to get into the building didn't work, but when I took it to the front desk they said it was totally fine. Spoiler alert, it wasn't because when I swiped it it said 'access denied, not signed in'. When I finally got into the unit, there were wadded up tissues in the corner. Also the alarm went off every few minutes, when our unit was both open and closed. We asked the staff if there was a problem and they said 'oh it just does that' and didn't seem to care. So clearly there's a problem with the alarm, so I don't feel safe at all having my stuff in there because I don't think anyone would notice if someone were to actually break in. All in all, absolutely would not recommend. I'm dreading having to go in and pick my stuff up next month, and I will be avoiding Uhaul in the future.

Staff were very helpful but customer service systems and online systems routinely errorrd out in different ways. The website needs a dramatic overhaul with more options available for users to do themselves without calling in, waiting on hold for an hour, being hung up on, on hold again, then transferred not once but twice before finally reaching the right person who could finally correct the error in the online system.

Despite being very clear when booking my order, and calling 2 days prior to my reservation to confirm again, U-haul continues to be incapable of following instructions and honouring contracts. I showed up to a completely different unit than the one I had booked, and had to fight to get an appropriate unit given to me as the staff's solution was to offer me units that would cost me more. During this frustration, a male staff member (the only one working front desk on 08/21/21 in the afternoon) decided to rudely insert himself into a conversation he was not involved in, and ask my husband to "calm down, settle down, and cool down" in the span of 10 seconds, while referring to him condescendingly as "buddy" and "bro". I then nicely interrupted and said "respectfully, as someone with a social work degree who has taken ,and taught conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies, you may wish to choose different terminology next time as telling someone to calm down, cool down etc is literally the opposite of what is recommended to de-escalate, and often only escalates the situation as you just saw." He sneered at me and sarcastically said "RESPECTFULLY, I didn't say any of those things" and proceeded to gaslight us, despite multiple others being witness to his words. This man needs to re-enter his training, or be removed from a front desk position where he deals with customers. Not professional at all, and has way to large an ego to deal with people in crisis. Murda was excellent in dealing with us, though also a point of frustration as when dealing with me (the calm wife in the situation) she had no solutions to offer me other than paying for a $200 unit when I had booked an $85 one, but when dealing with my husband was all of a sudden filled with potential solutions to give him. Solutions should always be offered, not simply because you no longer want to deal with a difficult customer. Customers should never be made to feel responsible for the failure of Uhaul employees, especially customers like myself who have gone above and beyond to ensure a correct reservation and even called multiple times etc which can all be tracked in your system. Finally, I have been waiting on a call from the general manager for almost a week now in regards to my move in, and have now been waiting for a call from him for 3 additional days in regards to this terrible move in experience. I am not sure why he is the GM if he is not capable of following through with customers, handling escalations etc. I had a terrible experience with U-haul 1,5 years ago when I rented a truck and storage while moving across the country, and thought I would try again now and give your company the benefit of the doubt, and a chance to prove me wrong. After this terrible experience I can safely say fooled me once shame on you, but fooled me twice shame on ME. I will never use this terribly rude, unprofessional company who does not know how to honour contracts ever again. I will also be communicating this to all of my colleagues, friends and family to ensure that not only do they avoid Uhaul, but also the SE Marine Drive location in specific.

The facility itself wasn't bad however the customer service was simply pathetic. It took 6 months to have a simple date change of when the money was to be debited. I was given a different story each time. Im glad to be ending my contract here and will not recommend it to anyone.

Rented the box due to unilateral price increase on UBoxes due to "increased demand for u-boxes". When I arrived to move my foods from the ubox to Storage, the boxes were in the parking lot, 3 feet below the entry doors. In addition, the door was 'out of service' so the contents of our home could not fit into the building. The GM who sold me on moving my contents into storage was "unavailable" so the manager told me to hire people to lift the contents into the building. Incredible. One employee, in obvious disgust with UHaul said "they don't care if they lose customers because UHaul are so busy". I believe it. End result, u increased the price on my u ones, the boxes were moved back into the facility and your extorted price increase will apply on all 5 boxes. This is after paying UHaul over $5000 for their services to move our family goods. The ubox part of your business is separate from the storage and from the truck rental. No one knows about facilities at the other end and the customer is mislead. I will be contacting CBC Marketplace to file a complaint. I will also be working with a lawyer to get this resolved. This whole process of dealing with UHaul has been a terrible experience. There is a complete lack of customer focus. You have all my goods, no accessible storage and are increasing prices. The law calls that extortion. I will be complaining on Yelp, CBC Marketplace, Google and every other platform.

The front staff do the best they can, but there are a lot of demands and it is hard for them to focus on you when they have multiple colleagues asking questions in the middle of them serving you. Even though I have been a client before, I still had some troubles understanding the new system and the staff did not explain the process at the desk. I think they are doing their best, and it would be helpful to have them just explain once you get a storage locker the process. Merci!

I made a reservation for a locker, when I arrived they told me the locker wasn't available as they are first come first serve. That strictly defeats the purpose of a reservation. I hauled a trailer of belongings from another province and relied on the reservation on my arrival. As a result I was offered very small or quite large at different prices. I'm currently in a large locker for my 1 month free period and will be moving to another storage company if the storage locker I expected doesn't come available, or if my quoted price isn't honoured. Also the contact information that needed to be filled out with secondary contact was overly onerous and nonsensical. Hauling the trailer was a good experience, locker rental was terrible.

One thing that could be improved was communication around the complimentary lock. When going through the rental process online it stated I was to have a lock left in the unit, but when I got there no lock was present. After checking with the front desk it turned out they were out, and I had to buy one to lock the unit. It would have been nice to be informed beforehand so I could have brought one with me.

We arrived shortly before closing and the staff were very helpful, patient, and friendly, especially since we hadn't yet booked our unit when we arrived. Accessing our unit was fairly straightforward. The one downside of this location is there's no elevator to the 2nd floor - it's about 10 steps up which doesn't sound like a lot unless you're moving a 3-seater couch like we were. But that's not a reflection of the staff or the upkeep of the facility - both were great.

The storage itself was fine. I returned the keycard and empties my storage. My payments come out around the 27-28 of each months. I'm frustrated that there was no refund for the time left. I returned everything on the 15. I am almost certain that the storage unit is already rented out and that Uhaul is now double dipping on the same square footage. Put it this way, if I had cash laying around, I wouldn't need a storage room as I would have space. But living in Vancouver makes this out of reach. So this is extremely disappointing from such a large company that I have used over and over over the years. Sadly I believe this was my last time as I have other options for truck rentals.

Unfortunately my Unit was in an old part of the basement and mice traps were set in my locker. I did not see evidence of mice when I left but alot of traps were put in. I would recommend the new part of building to a friend.

Its a maze in there was not aware that there was no elevator or ramp to get to the upper floor. This is a horrific crazy layout of storage lockers. Deeply disappointed to have been tricked to lug all out things into and out of this maze.

Selected auto payments for my unit. My credit card didn't change or expire, yet there was no attempt to Bill it. I called customer support sat on hold for 20min to talk to someone. They couldn't help me reverse the late charges that your company assessed without contacting me about the billing. Super inconvenient schedule for calling and in a pandemic these issues shouldn't require an in store visit to fix...usual level of customer service.

There are no words to describe how awful my experience with UHaul was from day one right to the bitter end. From the debacle renting my truck in Regina to getting to Vancouver and having absolutely nothing go right the entire time. I literally don't have a single positive thing to say about it and I'm normally a pretty positive person. I've had a lot of storage units in a lot of places and I've never experienced anything like this. I did not at all have a positive interaction with any staff other than the janitor. She was delightful. Everything was a struggle and I don't understand why. It's such a simple operation, yet tons of ineptitude was found in places I didn't think had room for any. Zero stars out of 10. And yes, I can give specific after specific of why my rating is literally as low as it can go. I've never, ever rated a business this low before. It would take a miracle to get me to rent from UHaul ever again.

My valuables are secured and the warehouse is clean and accessible. However, i had trouble getting access to the back of the warehouse. And i would love to see that uhaul can facilitate donations and giveaways for their customers. Nonetheless, i had a good experience with uhaul.

My only concern was the amount of mice droppings on the items stored. There were 2 bait boxes in my locker but not once was I asked for access so they could be repaired. I did not notice a single bait box in common hallways. I did look after I realized the amount of droppings in my locker. On another note I am very impressed with the courtesy and helpfulness of staff.

Charged three times after ordering only one unit. Not given the access code to the building at any of these times, and after placing a lot of calls to customer service to solve both of these problems and being told they would get back to me, I was never reached out to again. Even at the storage place, I wasn't given the access code or allowed in. And I still have two of the three units they gave me, even though I only ordered one.

We needed a larger locker on the lower level and that is what I thought I reserved. It would be an improvement if your staff would explain more clearly the difference between upper and lower levels in the facility. Without an elevator we could not use the upper level.

My only concern was that there was no facility to pull up a 15 Ft UHaul to offload at the storage. It was very inconvenient having to lug heavy furniture a distance from the storage. The other place I rented at the competition was perfect. It is always impossible to get through to the Marine Drive location. Twice I was put on hold for over 1/2 hour and the third time transferred over to the main reservations who were unable to help. On another note the girls were always a pleasure to deal with.

TL;DR If you are planning to return a one-way rental here, add a whole day to your time estimate to deal with the ludicrous set up and disorganisation of this location. The staff was very helpful (until 5pm) and were able to resolve a number of the issues, but there were so many I cannot give more than one star. I'm sure this location is fine if you have a small locker, and only want to store or pick up a carload at a time, but it is an absolute nightmare if you are actually trying to store anything of size (especially while returning a large truck from a one-way rental) The "loading dock" is a narrow strip that is barely wide enough for the undersize trollies they provide. The entrance to the building off this narrow strip is a tiny door that you will struggle to get any actual furniture through. I chose a 10x10 unit, which UHaul specifically advertises for "Housing apartment or small home for short term move" and can fit "King mattress set, refrigerator, washer/dryer and living room furniture set"; U-haul apparently thinks it makes sense to put this unit UP A FLIGHT OF STAIRS. I called the day before arriving in town to get directions, and they didn't think it worthwhile to mention that the access from the main road was blocked by construction, and there was a long detour on a back road to get there. They said they had provided a lock already for the locker, and I paid, but there was no lock and I had to go back to the office twice to get one. They made me buy the lock even though I had my own which they said "wouldn't work" but I confirmed later that mine would have fit. There is very little room to maneuver a larger truck (e.g. 20") but one of the guys working there did pull it into the "loading dock" for us, but access and parking is still a huge pain, even if you are just coming by car. Because of the site access, and having to drag all my stuff up the stairs, I wasn't ready to return the truck until 5:02pm, but they had already locked the office door, and told me to checkout on-line. Of course, the online checkout system wasn't working (there was another person trying to return their van rental with the same issue).

First of all we were directed by one of your staff members to back the truck against the ramp to make it easier to offload. When we exited the truck, he was way gone and there was about a 3 foot gap between the ramp and the truck. I am not sure if he expected us to throw the furniture from the truck to the ramp. There was no where to off load a 15foot truck with a ramp since UHAUL had all their trucks parked in the area I could have used. So we had to park at a distance and walk heavy furniture over. The people we paid to move never showed up. I just had surgery on my knee so my son had to offload an entire truck and walk heavy furniture over. The toilet in the building was also clogged with toilet paper. Th desk staff were amazing.

Overall really great. My purchase timed out while on my iPhone so it didn't appear to complete. I was surprised that it did. The purchase didn't seem to be 100 % mobile friendly. I believe I read somewhere I would receive an access code. I'd anticipated getting that by email. It wasn't clear that I needed to go in to sign paperwork.

For the most part our move in experience at the storage centre was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, we were only told at 8pm as we were halfway through unloading our 15 foot truck packed with things that the bay doors had to be closed for the night and that the small regular entrance door would be the only one available. As well, upon return I was accused of doing damage to the rented truck that I did not do in an accusatory way by the staff. This led to an uncomfortable conversation with myself and staff that left a bad taste in my mouth.

I needed to consolidate storage since the bill surged to $500/month between three places during a move six weeks ago. Logistics would be complicated, but in desperation to at least clear the uBox used for the move and avoid re-delivery charges, I discovered that this uHaul location also offers storage lockers at surprisingly reasonable rates. Configuration is VERY important, especially if you only have boxes. The locker I got is 10x10x6, 600 cubic feet, all useable. Paid the same rate for 5x10x10 in North Vancouver but get this - since you can't really pile boxes that high without some sort of reinforcement, what I was really getting is 300 useable cubic feet. Big difference. Also, when I consolidate the rest of the storage, any overflow can go into a uBox already on-site on demand. Cuts my total bill in half for now, then Marie Kondo it down later. To sum up, the quality of the facility - heated, each locker is alarmed and equipped with a sprinkler - is very impressive. Oh, and their moving supplies, especially the boxes, are the best deal in town.

We recently moved from Calgary to Vancouver. Rented a 20' truck one way from Calgary. Rented a storage unit between august-January and then used a 10' truck to move into our new place. We didn't have a single issue with anything. Only thing I would say could be better is that they don't prorate the storage unit if you move out early. We moved out two weeks early and still had to pay for the whole month.

After some initial confusion about a reservation that was not on file, a manager I spoke to made sure we had a large space to move into. It was an emergency and we would have been left with a moving truck full of our things had the manager not worked fast to make sure I had a choice of two spaces when we arrived. It was a huge relief and I am grateful for the fast action we got on our Aug 6 move in day. We are long-term customers at U-Haul, and have been very pleased with the service and storage at your facility. We have closed our account now, because we have storage at home, but we will use U-Haul for all our storage (and moving van) needs in the future and will recommend it to our family and friends.

After driving 12+ hrs to the facility to find out that the size of unit is first come first serve- is unacceptable. Then the was the only lock is the circular lock spiel. The unit was dirty- mouse droppings and mouse traps. Empty uhaul trucks should not be parked in front of the loading dock in the most convenient spaces. There were no lights in the unit. Also there didn't seem to be any garbage bin within sight .

The only negative was that when I went there to rent a smaller 2nd unit I was told that I have to carry my stuff by hand outside the building around to where the 2nd unit would be and no use of dolly was allowed or any other helping means. At this point I had gotten the truck returned. so that would have been impossible to be done by hand and on foot.

Aftet driving 11 hrs we really didn't want to hear thst our reserved locker was not available & that was first come first served. Our $149 locker became a larger locker at $199. The lock that I took off my previous locker was unacceptable so we had to use a loaner with one key or purchase a new one with 2 keys. The locker had two locks on the floor from a previous renter. The operation in the warehouse was short staffed. The silver lining was because it was near closing time the staff processed the uhaul trailer return quickly near the cargo bay. I chose the locker because the Richmond uhaul office ran out out the size while processing my credit card. I chose the SE Marine Vancouver location because they had one available at a slightly higher price. I changed the trailer drop off location to SE Marine Drive. But was in shock when they told me that unit was not available . It is like booking snd reserving a hotel room after a long journey and being told that the room is first come first served bur we have another room at a higher price. hotel room for

Too many rental trucks and trailers blocking driveways and loading docks. I would consistently not be able to access my storage unit because even the pedestrian zone at the bottom of the loading dock would have trailers parked so close together it was impossible to walk there. Too many vehicles blocking the road in front of the office. The area needs to be redesigned so there is enough space for vehicles to actually drive through the area. Why would it be assumed that I am happy to sit in my vehicle waiting for stuff to be moved. Perhaps once or twice, but not on every visit. I have things to do.

Hello, I emptied the storage on September 6th 2020. I brought my stuff to storage last year in July and I was told and assured that there are no mice or rats I the storage. When I empty the storage there was mice poop under the couch and table. This is disappointing. Why say something and not keep up with the commitment. I wAs happy with storage until the last day when I found the mice or rat poop. It is dangerous cause it contains pathogens. You guys need to take it seriously as it involves customer and tour staff health. Merci

Great, excellent and secure storage. Easily to move in and out. Highly rated. The one thing that could be fixed is the sensor error when trying to check out. It would always say door is open but even though fully locked and secure. I believe it is one of the sensors.

Good morning, My experience with Uhaul was great until I went to rent a truck to move my belongings out to the storage. it too almost an hour to have a 10" moving truck, and upon the return, there was am attentant, but he hust motioned to My driver Ron just park it over there, and lock it up, did not tell where to put key, and got charged $100 to have the truck opened to retrieve the keys. U haul was great. Stored my things for a year, visiting my locker often. The only downside was getting a place to park at loading bay, and big rigs blocking the lot entrance or exit for hours on end. U haul trucks taking loading dock parking was a big problem if you were not flexible on days or times, otherwise the place was great, always clean, and easy to get to your locker.

My experience at the U-Haul storage on S. East Marine Dr. in Vancouver was great. I had no trouble getting a locker, the size of my locker I needed and the staff were friendly and very efficient. When it was time for me to move my things out the closing out of my locker was very easy and very quick. Only issue I have is the phone service. Every time I fall I'm always put on hold for longer than 30min which I then end up phoning the 1800 number instead. Also need more staff working because last time I was there I only had a quick question and had to wait in a line up of 8 people with it looked like 2 staff working. Lastly they should monitor their storage units better as when I was moving my stuff out, there was a guy a few lockers down taking a shower and changing in his locker and wouldnt give us the stairs.

Found mouse droppings throughout my unit, as well as a dead mouse as I opened my door. When signing up for my unit last year, the gentleman in front of me complained of the same thing. When I moved into the storage unit the staff here was beyond friendly and were very helpful. However when I moved out your female manager treated me very disrespectfully .. we had just drove there all the way from prince George and we were exhausted and still had the massive task of moving everything out. It was 35 minutes to 5 pm and I couldn't find the key to my locker. She informed me that if I didnt have a locksmith there by 5 pm then I would not be able to access my locker. She was rude and completely unwilling to accomadate at all. Thank god another staff member stayed behind to wait for locksmith (which cost me $200) It was honestly so much more stressful than it needed to be and she could have handled the situation a lot better. In my personal opinion she gives the company a very bad name.

The Uhaul website mentioned that the storage unit will be free for the first month. However, the exact conditions were not mentioned on the website nor were clarified when I spoke to a representative at the supposed location via phone. Secondly, the email sent to me about the reservation specified the store closing hours to be 7 pm. However, when I reached the Uhaul storage location, the location was closed by 5 pm. This caused a lot of delay in my moving plans and ended up costing more than it should for my Uhaul trip due to the extra kms driven. This isn't my first bad experience with Uhaul and it does not seem like this would be the last.

The staff gave me a unit that was already rented so had to give me a bigger unit then proceeded to make me pay more for their mistake. I tried to complain but manager won't call me. Not happy at all

The facility on Marine Drive was always spotless and security was tight. I had 24 access and never seen it otherwise even in off hours. Staff is friendly and helpful. Online billing Is convenient

Hours are not convenient. Dropping off your truck and filling out all the online questions is super inconvenient. Never pick up the phone when trying to deal with you. Hold times too long

I will NEVER recommend SE MARINE UHAUL. This location is the worst. They have second floor lockers without elevators which means you lift everything twice as much. office needs more staff. hours suck.

On three different occasions I set up a date and time in advance (in store) to access my Ubox and when I got there they didn't have me scheduled. I had to wait over an hour once and no access twice.

No one was unfriendly or difficult, but dealing with the front of house staff was frustrating and aggravating by phone (calls were always unanswered and rerouted) and full of wait times in person.
