I was close to Sunnyvale and wanted to change the drop off location as it would have been easier for me to head to SFO from there. The customer service rep that I talked to wasn’t helpful at all and when I asked to speak to her supervisor she wouldn’t even let me. When I insisted she put me on hold for a long time and ended returning back to San Jose to return. Worst customer service

I had to spend twice as much as planned because the location in Morgan Hill on Monterey Rd which is 1 mile from where I needed the truck use and also right next to where I live had the truck that I needed and was told it was not available so I had to drive 49 miles round trip to the Curtner location to pick up a truck. The two trucks that were at Morgan Hill are still there and have NEVER MOVED. This caused me to have to spend another $55 for gas mileage plus an additional $20 for the gas to make the round trip to the Curtner location. I will never use UHAUL again. Should have received a mileage credit for my inconvenience from the lie that the trucks were not available at the Morgan Hill location!! Robert Napolitan birdband@netzero.net

My truck had no functioning AC and it was extremely hot. I mentioned it to the agent upon returning the truck and he only said, “wow, that must have been hot”. How about a credit for the fact that it was not working. Handled poorly.

Online pick up it’s not working well they give the same moving truck to me and another person and the other person took the truck that was sing to me. So I have to go in the office and they had to figure out what happen and fix the problem it was very upsetting because the other guy took the truck under my name and online look like I already took the truck. So they had to fix the problem in the office and figure out who took the truck and they gave me other truck. It took me over an hour to pick up the truck and it was very stressful and overwhelming

Overall the service at this location was excellent even though the equipment wasn’t perfect. The truck was very dirty on the outside. The employee helping me was sure to clean the windshield which was the most important part so the trip went well. The engine didn’t sound great, but it did get me safely to my destination. I believe there were blankets missing from what I ordered but when I went back to hook up my vehicle they were quick to get more, a small inconvenience in the moving process. Overall, I was so thankful for the help from all of the staff at this location. At least 5 employees helped me throughout the entire process. What I was completely dissatisfied with was getting sent to a general customer service line when trying to communicate with the direct U-Haul locations. The representative I spoke to on Tuesday evening between 6 & 6:30p at the customer service center actually hung up on me. I wasted a total of 3 plus hours trying to call to ask rental questions and transfer a location due to the size of storage unit available. There has to be a better system!

Great service as always, but this place is so popular you better reserve a truck or van ahead of time because they run out fast. It’s even faster if you check-in online before you get there to pick up your truck.

I was surprised nobody walked out with me to make sure i knew how to operate the truck, ask any questions, etc. they didn’t even show me how to secure the gate. Just a thumb jerk with “your truck is over there”. But the most frustrating thing of all was to be given a truck with less than a quarter of a tank of gas. I don’t care if the previous user brought it back with that little amount or not. I’ve rented the truck for only four hours, I don’t want to eat up part of that time having to go to the gas station twice. Once to put enough gas in the tank to ensure I make all the trips I need to and then a second trip to make sure the tank is equal to when i got it. No wonder they are all at a quarter of a tank. Who’s going to rent a truck with a quarter of a tank and bring it back full? Very disappointing.

I had rented a U-Haul for number of days some unexpected circumstances happened so I then contacted the location and I asked and explain my situation. I asked if I can rent it for a few more days being the fact that I seen like about 10 of the same type of trucks there but they denied it, they said they they couldn't accommodate it. That I would have to unload all my stuff and take it back truck on due time I was very dissatisfied with there customer service

Air freshener for the vehicle cabs. I know you can’t use stuff that has a strong scent because of people’s sensetivities to strong odors. But there has to be something that can keep the cabs of vehicles smelling stale and musky.

I was given a price for one day rental then my husband picked up and he was given a two.day rental. It was upsetting to think that it was changed at the location. They didn't honor what my reservation was for the one day.

I returned the truck after hours on Saturday using the uhaul.comshare app. I put in the milage incorrectly so my bill was ridiculously inflated. It was promptly corrected on Sunday however the app would not let me correct the input myself Saturday night. You should be able to review your inputs before completing the transaction.

The person who checked me in/issued the truck and trailer was very scripted and even signed my credit card authorization by himself. That same person told the lot attendant that a non-functional turn signal was acceptable. When I questioned the technician on site he disagreed and repaired the signal. The signal light was inoperative before I arrived at my destination that night. The same person also asked me to accept the texted condition reports of the vehicle before I had seen it. The gas level was not as stated on the paperwork but I could not dispute due to time between the paperwork and knowing which vehicle was mine. The same person interacted with every customer I witnessed as if they should just be “doing everything online” but somehow found time to converse with a female employee outside the customers lounge. The truck was on EMPTY (GAS LIGHT WAS ON!) when I picked it up. I was ripped off & charged the EXTRA mileage to drive & HAVE to put the initial gas in the truck myself. I was told if I did Uhauls job & filled the tank & brought it back at 1/4 filled, I would get a THIRTY dollar credit. It took $20 to fill not even 1/8 of a tank, so HOW would that "credit" be of any help to me as a customer?? The man who worked there was RUDE & when I mentioned that it was very unprofessional to not have ANY gas in the truck & he said, "oh well.. This is all we've got. Trust me we hear it more than you customers do" as he continued to go about his business. Umm.. We are CUSTOMERS. It's not OUR job to do so. The truck smelled TERRIBLE. STRONNNNG scent of cigarettes. Oh & the "service tire" light was on (I have photos of this)!! Talk about NOT feeling safe! If it weren't for already paying for movers & making moving arrangements, I would have canceled my reservation. TERRIBLE way to do business.

I was told that I needed a cell phone to rent a truck. Really?!? I wasn't about to go back home to get it. I did not understand why, it wasn't explained right. I was told I could rent at my own risk...no one checked the truck for prior damages before I left. When i returned the truck the attendant told me the link sent to my cell was so i could check for damages and report them to Uhaul myself. Are you kidding me, whatever happen to customer service?

This location did not have the truck I reserved when I arrived and I had to take a smaller truck. This truck did not accommodate my items which caused additional storage fees, an additional trip, additional gas expenses, and additional mileage on my personal vehicle to make the second trip. I feel this was an error of this location and they did not accommodate or offer any solutions. Over $500 in additional charges I am incurring due to their error. I am not happy at all

I use U Haul about once or twice a year. So sorry, but your worker must have been new. She put the trailer onto my hitch and ¼ mile after leaving the U Haul lot the trailer fell off and was only held on by the chains. I put it onto my hitch and returned because the wiring to my lights was broken. Not my best day. I haven’t checked under my car for damage yet. See you tomorrow.

The experience overall was fine but I had trouble when returning the vehicle. The website that handles the vehicle return process was problematic. I went through the process of taking pictures and answering questions about the truck and on the final page I accidentally clicked the box that said something along the lines of "I don't accept these charges". The software does not let you proceed without an explanation even if the box is unchecked. There was no way to proceed and I had to start over from the beginning. The site needs to be reworked to recognize if that box is unchecked. The second time through the process I reached the last page again and the site stopped working. I last all my progress again. The site should be reworked so that it continually saves the users progress through the return process. Having wasted 15 minutes on two failed attempts I gave up in frustration, left the keys in the dropbox, and went home. Unless I know that such a thing won't happen again in the future, I won't be using Uhaul for my moves.

When selecting an enclosed trailer on the website, it reserved an open trailer for us instead. We had no use for an open trailer on a rainy day. They tried finding an available trailer for our needs, but none were available.

I will not rent from U-Haul. Some genius invented a self-service style of check out that essentially forces you to go with their collision coverage and provides zero protection for the consumer. To document any scratches, you the customer must take the time to do it, then if there are upload glitches on their site, you have to redo it. Renting from any car company is an unpleasant experience, but at least they take care of the check in and check out, allow you to use your own insurance under reasonable terms, etc. With U-haul, before you can sign the agreement, you have to agree to letting them determine at the location, on the spot, arbitrarily, without any third party, without any guidelines what your damages are, either for the 150 dollar deductible or the if you have your own insurance. They could not have designed a more customer-unfriendly system. This is one for the business school case studies.

I don't believe that you should advertise the 15 ft Uhaul that we rented as being 15 ft because it really only has 13 feet of usable space. I'm sure that somewhere in the fine print that is noted but, in my personal opinion, you should advertise this vehicle as a 13 ft truck with 2 ft of space over the cab. Thanks.

when picking the van up the clerk wrote on the reciept the issues and did not put them in the system. So when turning the van back in there was some confusion. Either training was the issue or the clerk was just lazy. It did not deliver a good customer service.

Your checkout system isn't just slow, IT DOESN'T WORK! It took forever to get out of the lot and I was the only customer! I don't care if you think that your checkout & inspection is efficient. It doesn't improve the customer experience. Not only will I NOT recommend Uhaul to anybody, I will actively discourage them from using you.

Used the App for the second time - still loops you into a lot of up front info and repetitive submissions. How may times to I have to add my license and picture? Got to be a way to make keys available when using app w/o going into store and stepping in front of everyone to gets keys and boxes and blankets etc ... Returning the vehicle with the 'same' amount in the tank is always buying gas for the store - can't really get the same w/o risking a second stop.

I have been using U-Haul since I can remember moving from New York to Alaska with my mother and I have continue this tradition until today. I asked for a nicer van because I believe and taking care of your equipment. After dropping off my equipment and being contacted four location of my equipment and then soon after accused of damaging my equipment that I returned properly. After being slightly OCD in nature I was quite offended to hear I was accused of damaging equipment with as said slight scratches quote unquote. How about showing me a before and after picture of this damage that I was charged double my rental charge for. I will be forwarding this information to a lawyer I'm sure. I also will have my vast amount of Union friends boycott and bad review this location and Company if needed to make my point. Truly I am disgusted that the situation has come up after the long family like feeling from this company and hope this is resolved before it gets ugly. I recently started a business and have been renting almost every week. Yesterday, we rented two vans. One of the vans was newer and great. The other van was the worst rental I have ever had. There was a lot full of new vans but I received one that did not have a FOB, no power mirrors, the side doors did not have a slider, and it was filthy. Upon dropping it off, the response from the person was a shrug and "well I didn't clean it". The van was a bit beat up as well and then he stated that they just pull a key and that's the van that you get. Not exactly the response I wanted to hear especially when there are many other rental options. Horrible van and poor service - not a good day for U-haul.

I left a very expensive microphone in the VAN. David the store manager acknowledged taking it out of the VAN and keeping it in their break room. Then all of sudden it disappeared or got stolen from their break room. I need to file a claim. The mic is worth $450. This is very poor and bad customer service.

The only reason this place is getting any good stars, is because of the employee. David. He was the only one there all day, literally. I saw that. I went in early to get my truck, I got back later that day and he was still alone. This guys ran the store perfectly all my himself. I have not seen someone hustle like that in a very long time. He greeted everyone, dispatched everyone, got the trucks and pulled them up for everyone, checked in all the returning vehicles. He was running all over the store. And not once did he show agrivation or getting flustered by how busy it was. I am a Barber now but I spent many years as a store manager. And I will tell you this guy is a gem to keep in the business. If he is not a manager he should be. And get him some help. He is literally there alone running the whole business. And make sure he is getting paid well, if not, a raise!
