Better communication from the outset. The scheduling website told us a hitch was available and let us make an appointment. We showed up and the hitch wasn't in stock. The front desk clerk told us it would be a few days. We ended up not getting a call until over a month later.Allison W.

I was charged for a day being late and I notified the staff member the reason I was late because thru the U Haul website I scheduled movers in Richmond and Newport News. The Richmond movers were a no show. Did not call me or inform me they were coming the phone number listed on web site that was given was not a good number. Then my movers in Newport News had to reschedule because I had to make other plans for people to help me in Richmond so Newport News scheduled Sunday at 7am but did not show up until 10 am. And I paid for 2 movers and only got 1 that is why I was a couple of hours late returning the truck. And then U haul charged extra charges for being late when it was not my fault. This is bad Customer Service and would like a response from someone from U Haul.MICHAELJ O.

Saturday hours were 7:00a-7:00p and I had a reservation for 7:00a Saturday morning on 9/4/2021. To be safe I arrived at around 6:45a but the manager did not come in until after 7:30a, with no apologies. That was extremely rude and very inconsiderate.AARONJOSEPH H.

The 1-800 reservation service was excellent. During the reservation I asked what to do if more time out was required. When I mentioned this at the pickup location they were going to deny renting the equipment if I didn't promise to return within the allotted time. Rented a tow dolly and when loaded the car and went to strap it down, the straps were too short. The previous users did not secure the straps and it wore that down to a point where there was not enough strap on the end to reach the crank. Clearly no one maintained the dolly...the sales person did not seem to a care that it took me half the day to do the same job.James F.

My original reservation was for a larger truck that broke down before I could pick up. An agent contacted me when I was on the way there to tell me and she tried to find me the same size but the only one available was a distance away and with paying mileage would have made my rental pretty expensive. She found me a smaller truck and told me I could have it from 4pm till 4pm the next day. However when I picked the truck up my online rental was telling me to have it back that first night so I had to contact customer service to fix it back to a 24 hour rental. The first inconvenience was not of uhauls fault however for excellent customer service the follow through would have been nice when I was already overwhelmed with my move and juggling so many things.Brooke C.

Make sure you check the odometer before you sign the truck out. I was charged an additional 10,00 $ for milage I did not go. The starting odometer was wrong because they said I travelled 15 miles when clearly I could only possibly traveled 5-7 miles...the person checking me out did not take my word. If I had checked the odometer reading that was entered on my paperwork, I would have caught this error beforehand. Apart from this, the check-in procedure was very professional and easy. Roof leaked. Truck shimmied at low speeds. Customer service was great when picking up and dropping off but that truck's suspension was in need of fixing.DAVIDMICHAEL W.
When I returned the moving truck, the worker charged 44 $for being over mileage. When I showed the original contract as proof that the mileage was not over, he said the charge was actually for returning the truck later than the reservation time. I explained that I was sent to another location well over the reservation time before picking up the moving truck. The manager refunded the 44 $but I do not appreciate the dishonesty of the worker that charged the 44 $in the first place.KHOITRUNG N.

This is my first time using U-Haul and I have had problems with every aspect of dealing with them from the reservation for the hitch installation to having purchased the hitch from U-Haul and the actual rental. My kids first trip to Disney world and it was a nightmare actually because of the things we went through with the U-Haul. When we got Orlando to unpack our luggage and clothes it was infested with ants. We threw some away and managed to keep some. We lost some luggage because of the ants. And had to go and buy the largest trash bags I could find to take our clothes back home. It was so humiliating toting trash bags of clothes at the resort. Also we got a five day rental and when we got it the ring for the lock was broken and we could not lock it at all. The manager tried to convince us it would lock even though at least a 1/4 inch of the the lock ring was missing. I have been on the phone with U-Haul multiple time for long periods of time. I'm just disgusted with yallMELANIEDENISE H.

The Deer Park location does not offer the customer an opportunity to drop off U-Haul equipment to another location U-Haul location that offers pickup and drop off....that may be closer in proximity to the customer. I believe the U-Haul location on W. Mercury Blvd does....making it more customer friendly and accessible!!!James D.

Strong odor or marijuana inside cab, outside door mirrors frozen, drivers visor broken, crack in windshield on passenger side, heavy dirt and oil mix on rear handle and over door, customer got oil on hands simply opening rear door, window knob broken off on drivers side door, large hole in drivers seat, client had to move truck from very tight normal daily staging area, vehicle was not brought around front, while serving me the gentleman was eating at the same time.Ronnie B.

I wasn't supposed to drop off here. I was supposed to drop off at "Tire Traxx Express" 4601 George Washington Memorial Hwy, Yorktown VA 23692. So I drove 20 minutes to that location, was told by store owner he wasn't an "active" U-haul location until next week and that the truck couldn't be left here. After that 15 minutes of back and fourth I drove another 20 minutes to this location where I thought they were helpful which was great but I informed them I'm done driving the truck, they take it or I park it on the highway. I'll never rent from u-haul again. Last week I drove 2,5 hours to pick up a truck that was guaranteed and it wasn't at the location. Nobody bothered to call me. Thanks u-haulMichael A.

I had a very positive experience today (Even the restroom at U-Haul Deer Park was immaculate!) Lashawn Pearson handled my check-in, installation (on time) and stayed with me at the end to make sure my adapter was fitted correctly and the hitch worked with my Canspoter Trash Cart Carrier. He took the time to make sure I understood exactly how it worked.Richard K.
I took the time, pre-journey to come to the location at Deer Park to get a pre-journey check up with my RV. It would have been helpful to know that the pin had to be a certain type (I had to shop at pick up on a Sunday so not optimal. I also would have enjoyed the same level of information pre-journey-this could be improved.Debra B.

The staff acted clueless about there job they were not proficient at all and not friendly I felt more of a burden to them then a customer. At one point they even tried to pawn me off to another dealer that was further up the road the facility was also cramped and with a truck and trailer it was incredibly cramped in the parking lot I feel the space could have been used a lot better the uhaul up in evans mills NY where I picked up the trailer was much more pleasant to deal with.
