I rented a pickup for an hour. I drove it 17 miles. I was charged for 4 gallons of gas. The staff was polite but not empowered to use common sense to correct it. I wrote the customer service team and did not get a response. I feel like uhaul took $17 from me for no logical reason. I plan to share this extensively as an example of poor customer service! Thanks for ruining an otherwise efficient and courteous rental experience. JimJim W.

You charge per mile but it takes a mile just to get in an out of that location. Other locations are right off the street so you get the most out of your miles. I'd grab the trucks from the location in Guadalupe.Taryn D.

I was supposed to pickup my truck at the Pecos location but the app would not let me even after I phoned the help number. They ordered me another truck to pick up at Eliot. Meanwhile my moving crew was waiting for me. They found my order and one man went to get the truck for me. The other two employees went in the back room. When the man arrived with my truck, I asked him if it was my truck. He said yes and I left. My moving crew had been waiting for over a half hour. I got almost to my apartment when the employee from the back room called and said that I didn't have my contract and would have to come back. At this point I refused and went to my apt. I took a photo of the odometer and gas gage for proof. I was told that I would have to pay for a full tank. They were very rude. I dropped off the truck in less time than contracted.Joan B.

Vehicle had not been cleaned. Smell of cigarette smoke was prominent. Cigarette ashes were very evident Staff at desk were good and prompt but state of the vehicle was very poor.William J.
My movers were kept waiting half hour for keys. On my clock. The truck interior was littered with garbage plus loose nails and screws. Movers had to clean it, again on my clock. I called manager, who said - "There's nothing we can do".Peter G.
Overhead light was burned out. Also, the guy behind the desk told me to park the vehicle under the canopy when I returnd it. Once I got there, security asked me to pull the vehicle forward and park it by the propane tank, an area that was very dark and felt unsafe. This felt kinda rapey and made me uncomfortable. Once I convinced myself I could fight off the security guard, I freaked bc the guard wandered off & I didn't even feel like he would know if something bad happened to me. Fortunately, another customer pulled in to return another vehicle, so I felt comfortable enough pulling my vehicle forward... but damn.ROBERT L.

Confusing signs as where to return, once I got directed I sat there for 10 minutes when the sign says stay in your rental vehicle and someone will be right out. I asked for a printed receipt, when returning the rental truck, NOT AN EMAIL, receipt, for business purposes!!! Man actually said it's the same thing, no it's not! Print me a receipt! I did not think that this would be an inconvenience for your business. It was a simple request! Turned out to be, asking 3 times for the receipt, yes, I asked 3 times. Email or receipt, receipt please and thanks!!! All is good up till I asked for a printed receipt! If the young man, would have just handed me a printed receipt! It would have been 5 stars.Keith S.
The staff were calm and collected in a stressful situation with very long lines and general chaos going on (nobody had a straightforward reservation, lots of issues). This was our second location after being told to go to another one by someone on the Uhaul general number. They did NOT have the moving dollies/hand trucks we requested and we had to buy them ourselves, and not enough furniture pads. They had a new truck that served us well. Took nearly 2 hours overall from start to finish to find our truck reservationBrandon B.
Your return process was very difficult this time. I did the return process about 6 times but it was unable to complete. I spent over an hour there trying to do that buy I don't even know if it worked. There were some other people who were having the same problem as mine. I don't know what was wrong with your system. So I would even want to know if you can see the return in your system and if I can receive a receipt.EDMOND N.

They charged me extra 20 dollars for after hours service, however, I exactlly follow the return procedure, and I only used it for about five hours that I sign the contract for one day. Used app but U-Haul was not ready with prepurchased objects ready or keys in U-Haul. I do not recommend U-Haul to anyone driving across country. We put in our reservation for a 26 ft truck one month in advance with a 5x9 trailer. According to the website a U-Haul rep will contact you two days before to confirm your pick up time and place... which they did but told us a 26 ft truck was NOT available. WE GOT SCREWED! We were closing on our house and needed this truck to move from Arizona to Florida and were told 2 days before leaving we did NOT have a truck. Only 15 ft trucks were available. We had to rent 2 - 15 ft trucks which you'd think 30 feet is good - NOT AT ALL because you lose the height and that space above the cab shortens the bed of the truck. We had to give away or throw away furniture and belongings that didn't fit. Plus we had to pay for an extra tow dolly for our car we were planning on driving. This whole fiasco cost us over $2500 more to move as well as more gas money. U-Haul is NOT trust worthy. I called several times and spoke to "traffic" people during that 30 day period and NO ONE ever told me a truck would NOT be available. Yes, they checked Tucson, Phoenix, all over the area. Turns out U-Haul had 26 ft trucks but only for in town. This was a royal mess. I will NEVER use them again or recommend them to anyone.Elizabeth D.

The staff at this location is very friendly and does their best to get transactions quickly and customers on the road safely without much delay. Drop off was even faster than check-out. I stood around quite a bit waiting for someone to help me. There was only one man who kept coming in and out for about 5-10 minutes telling us someone would be with us or that he would go find someone to help us. He ended up helping us himself. He was very grumpy - not with customers but with other employees. Upon return, I again waited about 10 minutes before just handing the keys to an employee and walked out.SUSAN O.

The customer service at this location is exceptional. Javon was friendly and helpful and everyone there moved with a sense of urgency and helpfulness. However, the truck was really disappointing. It was a 2003 vehicle that has clearly been pushed to the limit- to use it to tow our own vehicle and all our things hundreds of miles was very stressful. It was super loud and the engine was clearly struggling the entire time. It barely made it up hills and was difficult to stop- my husband has many years of experience operating military vehicles and towing planes so this was not a user error. I think it's time for this truck to be retired or at least relegated to in town moves only!Jennifer G.
Truck was not cleaned out from previous renter. The car dolly was scorching hot from being in direct sunlight and was burned trying to hook my car up without any help. This location changed my online reservation by removing roadside assistance, without my consent,which I ended up needing. When I tried to use it I was told I did not have it and would be charged $175 for a lockout. After waiting over an hour and a half I was informed they couldn't find anyone to help. I was stranded for over 3 hours and had to pay $125 for a towing company to come out and open the truck. To add insult to injury Uhaul charged me $20 for the after hours call too. I was severely overcharged for a 10' rental with insurance and a dolly which was quoted $84 for 40 miles. I went over milage 8 miles which should have been an extra charge of 8*1,65 which is about $10 or $11 more instead I was charged $130 plus another charge of $46!
