The general manager was rude, pulled right in front of me when I was trying to leave, got out of his car and made me back up so he could get in instead of just waiting for me to leave. They called me multiple days after I dropped off my uhaul thinking I had never left it, so they seemed pretty unorganized, but they didn't charge me extra so it's fine.Michael C.

Properly train managers and personnel about rules to rent trucks out of town to avoid misunderstanding, time and money wasted for people on budget . I had a horrible experience with Research boulevard location in Austin after I called several times and she directed me to the university of Texas where we found a solution. I had called everyday at the research location to ensure availability. The manager at UT was professional and respectful with so many pick ups on Saturday for which I was not the only client having difficulties. It is very frustratingleonie S.

Uhaul is apparently incompetent at every location. This was the better of the worst. I had so many PROBLEMS: 1. Ordered the uhaul WEEKS in advance. Then go to my SCHEDULED location in BATON ROUGE to be told I didn't have a truck. Was giving no helpâ€¦was told to call a line that brought me to 3 different locations around the U.S. where I finally got help to this location. Meanwhile I need to move to Austin in 24 hrs. 2. Finally moving and I get a blowout and a flat in the uhaul that looked like it never had maintenance before. 3. Now I'm being told I OWE charges for â€œnot filling up the truckâ€ when I got the truck was at E. Barely made it across the street to get gas. Y'all are literally the worst company I've ever.Brett B.

The person handling my rental was excellent. She made sure some damage that had occurred on the previous rental was documented. She helped me take pictures - would have taken me half an hour to figure out how to navigate the app. The truck itself was wonderful. They need to make sure to have the vehicle that was reserved. We waited in line for 2 hours just to be told they did not have the truck 26' that we had reservations for. It took over 45 min to pick up a reserved trailer. Of the 3 cash registers, only one worked. There seemed to be plenty of staff running around but not a lot happening. The yard was a mess and difficult to navigate. An 18-wheeler pulled into the driveway blocking the only exit so had to turn around a trailer in a confined space to exit out the one-way entrance.Robert K.

The experience was absurd. Make a reservation to pickup ubox with a pickup truck, call the location morning of to confirm the time and that it has the pickup and they confirm. Show up at the appointment time and the employee says the ubox guy is gone, we don't do any after 4pm, even after confirming he sees my appointment for 6:30 on his screen. I walked around the property searching for the box, where we saw they were not indoors stored like advertised employee tells us to show up next day 7am at opening is only option, that he'll be there to explain. which meant for me, another day sleeping on the floor. The first employee wasn't there at 7am, thought the ubox guy was. we were first in the doors (unlocked it for us) at 7:01am, then we sat around and waited the 30 minutes it took for him to assemble the box to the trailer and attach it (Where I shipped from, when I showed up at my reservation time the rental pickup was parked ready to go attached to the ubox) Finally get the ubox and drive home, we go and find out it's bolted shut! we go back, employee uses socket wrench (my set is in the ubox) and doesn't apologize for it, we go back on our way again and finally unload it all because of the return trip, we had to use and pay for double the miles and gas, neither of which was adjusted for in our payment. Nor was the fact that they scheduled us for a time that they knew wasn't possible (which meant paying for 2 extra Ubers to and from Uhaul as well as the extra night on the floor). Just a whack experience. Communication between all parties is awful.Alex V.
This was truly an awful experience. I put in a reservation and arrived to find out that it was changed further out of my way. I was not told or notified. The employees were rude and not helpful. I had to pay an employee $20 cash to have him instruct me on the features of the auto tow. He would ignore me until money was offered. He was at the same time rude and condescending.Luke B.

I was forced into buying insurance by the person at the desk saying it's now required for vans because they get stolen. It was never mentioned otherwise and when I signed and gave me the option to decline. I mentioned this to her and she said no her manager said that man's and trucks have to take the insurance. I also mentioned that I was only renting the van for two hours and I was going to have it the entire time so I was not concerned about it getting stolen. This was not in my budget and I don't think it's true since I clearly had the option to decline but unfortunately she was adamant and I needed the van . There was a significant backup of customers returning trailers. Staff was directing customers to back trailers into storage spots which was challenging to someJohn N.
There is a flaw in the process; I "reserved" my u-box for 10 am and had to wait until 11:45 am to actually receive it. There were 3 friendly workers, who were trying their best to help everyone, but it seems they had to locate the reserved item only after people checked in through the line; the reserved item should've been ready for pick-up through an automated system. Once I received my u-box, it was basically a wooden crate, which was not at all what was advertised online. We couldn't even open and close the door easily; they told us it was due to the heat expanding the wood. Also, I did not have any furniture pads that were supposed to be included in my contract. I would also include a padlock for sale at the site, in case people don't have the correct one to lock the u-box. While we were standing in line for 1,5 hour, I looked across the freeway at Public Storage and wondered why I didn't look into any other storage facilities that probably could've been reserved in an air-conditioned unit. If I knew the process at U-Haul, I would've paid extra to avoid wasting 2 hours of move-out time, especially when I'm on a deadline to leave my leased apartment. I'm dreading the process to unload the u-box. The only way to rectify this horrible experience is by crediting at least a portion of the amount we paid.Nadia R.

Very unorganized staff. Spent 15-20 minutes on each customer. You should have 2 lines: 1 for people with reservations and 1 for people without a reservation. You should also reserve vehicles for those with reservations. The last time I checked, that's the entire point of making a reservation: because it's reserved. The intake process was a mess. There was no clear directions about how to drop off the vehicle. Went inside the office and stood in line for 20 minutes. Finally, an employee came in and asked if anyone was dropping off and I said yes. The employee did took my keys but did NOT inspect the vehicle nor check that I had filled the gas tank. Never rating from uhaul again. My first reservation was messed up, the rep on the phone was so unhelpful, second rep found me a new correct reservation. Location told me they double booked that truck but â€œwe open at 7am so whoever gets here first will get itâ€ WHAT!!! The guy at the location was very nice when I picked it up. We refilled the gas tank to the correct level from pick-up and were still charged almost $20.TRAVIS R.
I requested that the UBoxes be ready for me to arrive with movers (through MovingHelp.com by 8:30AM). I called three times to confirm and to clarify multiple bills of different amounts from U-Haul. I called on Tuesday and Wednesday with the clear out of the U-boxes to occur on 7/28/22. The boxes were not available. The agent did not know how to "dispatch" the boxes. The order could not be found. The U-Boxes were eventually released with them made available at 10:45AM - 1 3/4 hours LATE with my having to pay movinghelp.com movers to wait around. How do I get compensated for the errors with U-Haul with communications, training, and logistics? THIS IS HORRIBLE. There are thousands of dollars in damage to my goods. I will call the insurance company as well as mvoinghelp.com and file against the movinghelp.com movers for compensation. I have pictures of the damage. Loading moving companies were provided with ample supplies that were not used and DID NOT FOLLOW my instructions requests to protect the furniture. The last company arrived with ONE PERSON to move the items into the U-Boxes including a piece of furniture weighing more than 200 pounds with my being told that he was a professional mover, that he knew what he was doing and that the much of the furniture did not need to be wrapped or covered with blankets because the would be wrapped so tight that they could not move during transit. The heavy furniture was stood on end with the 2 foot end not being able to support the 6' heft of the item with the top cracking, all of the internal shelving breaking, and multiple gouges and scratches across the item.Donald P.

I ran in to an issue where the distance I drove did not match the odometer reading. After talking with customer service, the first two people I spoke with were very unhelpful and accusatory - however I eventually spoke with a manager, and we found out together that my route mileage was correct and instead the van had been driven the night before for maintenance but not recorded. These are all simple mistakes, but perhaps training customer service or the online portal to make room for this sort of mistake would be helpful. I would appreciate if you could give a full U- haul self service tour to the customer. After handing over the keys to me I had to ask for help from the staff to know things inside the truck. I had to wait in line in the store till the staff finished attending the other customers so that they could come out and help. I have never driven nor operated a U-haul truck. So it was a little confusing for me in the beginning . I watched a you-tube video on how to drive a U-haul 10â€ foot truck.Meene M.
