I was overcharged for the trailer I rented, I originally reserved a 6X12 trailer but after the contract was printed the rep came out and said my vehicle could not pull that trailer so he gave me a 5X8 trailer instead but did not change the rental cost ;-( Also the trailer they gave me was filthy and I had to clean all the brown sand out of it with a broom and mop it out, Trailers and equipment are supposed to be clean but not in my case. Also I asked to return the trailer closer to where I was moving too but after calling in to haul when I completed my move in Mercier Que they informed me I had to return it back to Lachine Que in traffic both ways. When I returned the trailer I asked to have the partial refund for the equipment and also mentioned again that the trailer was filthy when I picked it up and the rep didn't really care and said he could not do anything and mentioned the location manager was off on June.23, 2021 I'm not very please and that's the reason with the very poor review period. Don't get me wrong, the staff were great. But I reserved equipment months in advance and Uhaul gave me the run around when it came time to pick it up: switched the pick-up location to a very distant one, and gave me a different, larger truck that consumed much more fuel than I wanted with only 24 hours notice. When I protested over the phone I was told "take it or leave it." My move costed me a lot more money as a result and I am displeased.Maximillion S.

Hello, I arrived at 08:50 on Sunday 20 June 2021 to pick up my Cargo Van and to rent a storage unit, my appointment was at 09:00. There was a huge line up outside and by the time I received my cargo van and storage unit it was 10:45. I spent over 1 1/2 hours at Uhaul. The employees were understaffed but maintained a positive attitude. There seemed to be only three employees working that day. When I left, there was still a hug line inside and outside. Using employees personal phones to take pictures of photo ID is a bad way to gather data and makes me very uncomfortable. Please invest in a 30$ camera with a direct link to the system. The current method makes it possible for employees to gather personal information on hundreds of people.MARC-ANDRE L.
I will not be using U Haul Budget will be my personl choice. The 20 $surcharge on a Sunday after 9:00 P.M. when i returned the truck at 9:30 P.M. is not justified. The location is closed at 5:00 P.M. and the customer is required to do the administrative work for U Haul . I paid too much for the 5 Hour rental. Not satisfied at all. The truck was in bad shape, the steering was very loose and the truck had 70 000 Miles, i suspect poor maintenance. You can contact me if you want at my e-mail address for more feedback. Not satisfied and will not recommend U Haul to many of my friends. I called customer service for these specific problems and was told to wait for 10 to 15 Minutes and someone will answer me, waited for more than 20 Minutes no one replyed. Hanged up....!ANDREW S.

- waited in line over 2 hours to pick up reserved truck - the equipment we reserved was no longer by the time we got to the counter, so we had to rent smaller alternatives - once we finally got our key, we had to get the truck from somewhere deep in the truck parking. Not a problem per se, except the fact that it was surrounded by other trucks and could not be taken out - rented equipment was not in the truck as indicated, so we had to drive back to get itMartin V.

Service was terrible! I made a reservation almost one month in advance and when I arrived there they didn't have all the items that I had requested available. I was told to go to a different uhaul and when I got there they didn't have the item as well. I lost a lot of time going to a different store and was not able to keep the truck for longer. It was a terrible experience, wouldn't recommend. It was very frustrating and disappointing, I wasn't offered anything to make up for all that trouble of not having an appliance dolly or having to go to another store.MICHAEL S.

This company (uHaul in general) is an absolute mess. I called 3 weeks prior to my 15-foot rental to change my pickup day from saturday at 10am to sunday at 10am... the customer service representative informed me all is well and that she made the necessary changes. I called back a week later because I had yet to receive a confirmation email of the changes. The new customer service girl told me she saw my pickup day as Saturday still, but quickly made the changes and proceeded to send me a confirmation text to confirm after I hung up with her. Here's the good part; 1 day, I repeat the DAY BEFORE my pickup on sunday, I get a text from Uhaul saying that there are no longer any 15-foot trucks available at the location I set, but that they'd found me one at a different location and at 4:30pm instead of 10am like I had reserved, THREE WEEKS AGO. So basically the company just decided to move my rental from Sunday at 10am to Sunday at 4:30pm. And yes, to a completely different Haul location... How did they think that taking that initiative to reschedule my whole booking without consulting me was a good idea? I lived in a condo where condo rules state you can't move after 5pm on the weekends... Needless to say, this was the most hectic few days dealing with what seems to be a pretty straightforward process. All in all, I would not recommend renting from uHaul as it seems their customer service is based out of Arizona and they don't give two shits about you or the problems you're having with their clerical errors. Worst experience dealing with a major company in my life. Thank God for Marge who finally solved my issue, god bless that woman.MATTHEW E.

The whole experience was very stressfull. We had reserved extra material for our move, that I had called to confirmed the day before (waited on the line more than 40 min. was redirected, waited again...), the material was not available the morning that I pick-up the truck. Had to rush to call someother retnal to find the equipement required for our move. The complete process is a total mess, unfriendly and far from customer service oriented. It was our first experience with U-Haul and most certainly our last. We hade to pick-up the truck in Montreal instead of from 5 minutes away from our home, I was told the milleage would be adjusted, it was not. I got a bill for extra mileage which I refused. My daughter in law used your service two weeks before. She had to pick-up the truck two hours later than scheduled, and at 1h30 away from where she was supposed to, and the had twelve more hours to drive to get back to where they were moving. From our experiences, it is hard to believe you are still in business. Sorry to say that I could NEVER recommend U-Haul for a smooth move.Marie-JosÃ©e D.

We were given the wrong dolly and had to go back to replace it. Also, the truck was in quite poor condition. Lots of rattling noises and not a smooth ride at all. My older son had to ride in the passenger seat and there was no seatbelt or airbag. This was very surprising and unsafe, not to mention, unprofessional. The rate at which the truck burned gasoline was ridiculous and cost us hundreds of dollars. This could possibly indicate a problem. The truck may need to be taken off the road. The time of pickup was changed to 6 hours later than we had booked. Some of our friends were not able to help us due to this error. Another thing was, we had to pay an extra 50 $at the checkout even though I had paid the total online when I booked. Please make things safer and more efficient for your customers as we did appreciate the online booking and options available.Leonard Andrew V.

Quand on cherche une location Ã Lachine, les choix son trÃ¨s limitÃ©. Improve the check in process significantly. Lots of wasted effort from the limited staff present. The return process however is quite efficient. I would strongly recommend a review of your processes as I'm convinced you could significantly improve customer satisfaction with limited investments.REMI L.

I first reserve my sotrage a month an haft ago. I called to confirm that I ca ntake possession to be told that there was no reservation to my name. I rushed to the U-Haul because there were only a few lockers left. When I got there, the employee handed me a keycard to remoove the alarm on my storage. Drive to the storage and the key does not work... all my stuff were already taken out of the car... nobody on site to help... so i decided to open with the alarm on. After I drive back to the front desk and they were not able to give me a working card... I have to come back another time.... The 15' truck i was booked in for was ready and clean however the unit was not verified for any damages with the rep. The units tires were not verified prior to being put out either. Once it started driving I noticed a balance issue and even more so a hazardous on the highway as the unit wanted to fish tale. Upon returning the unit to the location and mentioning that the tire pressure may be low or it has a bad alignment, myself and the rep checked out the tires to find that the driver rear( inside) tire was almost off the rim and completely void of air. This is not acceptable as it could have cause the unit to capsize in a turn, lose control on the highway and even cause a major accident which could have resulted in loss of life. The only thing that helped me in the situation is my previous 2 years day to day driving 16-20 foot moving trucks. I am also disappointed in the service of uhaul as the night prior to me reservation at 6:45pm i got a email stating my reservation was moved location to a time in the evening. NO rep from any location called me. myself and my partner attempted for 1,5H to call the laval location and the 1-800 number where no on answered. we got a answer after 2h of waiting on the 1-800 number, the rep was able to secure the damaged unit at the lachine location for us in the morning. I do suggest a formal walk around with the rep to verify units with the clients and check the tires like how discount/ enterprise does. This way no faulty units are rented.Christina R.
The employees present on May 14th (at 2100 Rue Norman on MontrÃ©al) were not helpful at all. They refused my driver's license even though it is a legal and full one, they made several mistakes like booking the wrong truck and entering the wrong drop off address which resulted in a two hour delay and because of that delay i moved into my new apartment well after the curfew and put myself and my movers at risk. I will not use u-haul again nor will i recommend it.hrayr G.

Hello Jean Marc. First thank you for this experience with your storage . As you can see for over 6 months or more my experience with your lachine storage and trucks was excellent. I had to close my company and to move and also sold my house ,so there was lots of moving.You personally (I hope you remember me) me helped me and your staff as well. The only thing I think you should try to fix is the answering to the phone. I know most of the work today is done on line,however sometimes an answer is needed. So thank you again and best of luck. Unit was 5 feet up making it impossible to move in my heavy toolboxes. Customer service was good about extending my truck rental in order to get a more appropriate unit the next day. Il y avait 2 employes...celui qui me servait ne voulait pas me rembourser en argent comptant malgré que jai payé cash. Il voulait me rembourser debit et il ny avait pas dautre solution. Lautre employé à aussitot prit la parole ayant entendu la conversation et a dit...si elle veut cash tu lui paie cash le remboursement. Merci a se jeune homme. Lautre employe manquait un peu dexperience ou de savoir... il mavait lair désemparé ou détaché, mais je sais que vous changez vos code de caissr tout les jours par email. Hiiii merci. I paid late,(2 weeks) definitely my fault, however the system that you have in place is extreme and agressive, borderline harassment. 3 emails, 3 letters to my house and 2 letters to my emergency contact ( which I felt to be a violation of privacy) My storage locker blocked. I went to pay it during my break at work, and when I went back about a week later to get something the lock was still on. I had to go back to the office and ask them to remove it. They had to check the file to ensue I wasn't lying, then I waited 15 minutes for them to come. The guy that came was nice, but was not wearing a face mask. The actual move in experience was terrible. We had booked and paid in advance and arrived with our movers and they had to wait about 1 full hour while the reception re entered everything into the system, which was so slow, and cost us over 150 $in moving costs due to the length of time it took to receive the keys. We had our belongings in this storage for almost 2 years. All went well until our departure from the unit. When clearing our belongings, unfortunately we discovered some items that were eaten/ruined by mice. Our couch had holes in it from mice and was covered in droppings (it was covered by plastic but they chewed through that as well). The U-Haul staff reassured us right away that we would get reimbursed for this. However, to this day, we have received no response or follow-up on our claim for reimbursement. We will likely have to continue pressing the issue in order to get any resolution, which is very disappointing. We paid over 5 $K in our time of having our belongings in storage - the least they could do is make sure we receive appropriate compensation for ruining important furniture.julien r. | Expérience générale

Hi , overall was okay. I tried to change the per authorization date. When I called , the agent said to go ask the store. I drive to the store they say we cannot it's impossible. With tax it was suppose to be 120$. Because of the faulty pre auth I paid 135-150 $$ mostly. In 2020, I am so baffled that we are not able to change a date : /. But to me it was just a scam to charge more. And that's why my rating is much lower. Hello, My main concern with the lack of answers for phone calls from Lachine. They have NEVER picked up the phone, it always went back to central. PLUS, central does not give accurate information. And / or the information does not get relayed to Lachine. I had lost the keys to the storage lock, I called and called to speak to Lachine, once again, they didn't pick up. Central lady said that each location was equipped with the tools to break the lock - which turns out (as I had a team of 3 movers on the clock, just waiting) they did not, and mentioned it was against UHaul policy. I had to call for an emergency service, which cost me 275 $for a locksmith to come and break the lock. I am extremely disappointed with UHaul in this regard.magali G. | Expérience générale
The only reason i don't give a 5 stars is because the waiting time to get service is really, really aweful. I waited 45-50 mins in line just to get service even though i and a reservation. I understand doing contracts with people takes time but being understaff in a month like this, i mean it is moving festival now. All i wanted to do is get my moving done. I had rented a storage in Montreal Centre Ville at first, I had made the reservation on site. Then I made a change of date by callin U-Haul. When I went to rent the storage, they said the modification can't be made by phone (?????) and that there was no storage unit that I had reserved, when I had done it on site at first !!! The person didn't try to help me... I had to go to Lachine to find a storage unit. At Lachine, the woman that took my order was very bad at being polite and being professional. I have had booked, for 1 April, a storage in an other facility (Cite 2000 Montreal) and no one called me to tell me to come and take possession of the storage unit. I left my credit card info, my phone number and my adress, as requested. With all these infos, I understood that someone From u-haul would call me as soon as they have an available unit. But it appears no one called. When I presented myself to the office, I faced a young man that did not care at all about my case and just repeated like a parrot : we do not have unit left sir, it works like this in u haul. Without even trying to understand my situation, not listening and not proposing any solution. He clearly did not care and is not suit for working in customer service. The one big negative to our experience was the difficulty getting information on how to cancel our contract. I called customer service and was told I had to go to the warehouse. Drove 20 minutes to the warehouse and was told take a picture and come back when the locker is empty. Drove home another 20 minutes. Went back after the locker was empty (20 minute drive) to learn that the account had been closed by one of the employees. In all, 1 hour and 20 minutes of unnecessary driving.
