It wasn't a bad experience, but the charges were a lot more than what I was told it would be, which is kind of disappointing. I only drove 20 miles, but that with $20 base cost somehow made it up to $75. Not renting again from this location.

My pickup was 1 hour late as the truck had not been returned by previous renter since previous evening. Staff only cared to call the previous renter twice only when I was in the store to pick up. This cost me 1 hour. Equipment was clean but yellow engine warning light came on on day 2 of my 3-day move. Calling roadside assistance and having a mechanic check out the truck in Kingman, AZ cost me 2 hours to get the maintenance issue resolved.

Customer service was great. It's too bad that there weren't more employees available in the yard as the inside person working the counter had to come outside to move a truck so I could get mine out. Unfortunately I have moved a couple of hours away from San Francisco and won't be using the service on Bayshore. I have used them a couple of times and the experience has been first rate. Although not really clean an inviting being in an industrial area it was clearly the u haul facility. Personal directed me which way to drive and where to return trailer and personal removed the trailer and checked me out. I did not need to do anything besides say all went well and thank you.

When it came to locating the rental truck we were told the truck was out there in the lot. We couldn't find it. We were told to look for a truck with Arizona plates. Well most of the trucks had Arizona plates. It took us about an hour to find the truck. Which was by the entrance gate. It would have been so helpful if the staff could help and told us exactly where the truck was. Or bring the truck to the front row. Then no time is wasted.

Everyone at this location went above and beyond to make our dealings very stress-free and convenient. This is a five-star location for U-Haul, no really I mean that. It's really a great place. The only inconvenience was that it was far across town from where I wish it were but they can't be helped. Better signage might be a consideration as there was slight confusion into entering off of the Bayshore Street.

People at counter seemed irked that they had to stop their conversation to attend to me when I arrived. Despite being the only one there it took 30 minutes before someone came out to drive the rented truck out of lot. Very dismissive and absolutely no eye contact when telling me keys are in truck. After a number of years in storage, I was so pleased to find my items exactly as I'd stored them, without even any accumulated dust, let alone any signs of vermin or insects. I'd like to recognize Sarah at the front desk and Dave in facilities, for their willingness to assist me and their professional, positive attitude. I am completely satisfied with my U-Haul Storage experience.

Facility was dirty and employees were not trained. Bathroom was dirty and had no toilet paper. Employee couldn't find my storage unit and did not clearly inform me of process/operating hours/how movable stairs work. Upper storage units are dumb. The whole facility should just be torn down and rebuilt because it's not functional. If the architect who designed it is still alive they should be fired & shamed. At least more signage showing different entrances and drop offs.

I have been renting vehicles for over thirty years and the most terrifying experience last night trying to purchase and return my rental. After asking several times, I was told to return the vehicle to lot and that was assured that it would be OK to return my rental after hours. I told the clerk that I would be leaving my car and returning the vehicle to the lot. She nodded and smiled and we went on our way. 1. There was no attention paid to wiping off the steering wheel or the doors before I was given the vehicle. I had to take the extra step to sanitize and prepare to drive during a Covid crisis and pandemic. This was my first red flag. I find this to be inexcusable and negligent. 2.When I returned to the lot the gate was blocked and locked. I could not return the vehicle to the lot per the directions on the app and stated directions by the clerk. Basically, my car was locked in a lot on a questionable side of town, it was dark, phone is now running out of power, rental time was ticking. What to do? I was with my young daughter and we attempted to call customer service and was stuck on hold... We were finally able to flag down some employees that were locking up for the evening. The staff basically shrugged their shoulders and then when I flagged for help they actually got in their cars and fled. Yes, literally fled. I'm sure you have cameras on the lot and can see this for yourselves. I was able to squeeze through a gate to retrieve my car and literally beg for the staff to let me out. They were running and tried their absolute best to ignore me. Except for one kind female employee. After thorough review of the directions to return the vehicle and my contact with your clerks, I feel like more should been done to sanitize and communicate. At no point was I told that my car would be locked in a gated parking lot and no point did I feel that I was in a safe clean vehicle. This was terrifying.

I was charged 77, approximately $20 more after returning the van with more gas than I started. No reason was stated. Possibly check-in procedure? After dropping off the van I was told by staff I could leave the keys in the ignition and I was "good to go". I walked away and noticed later in the day I was charged extra. Clearer check in instructions are necessary and shouldn't cost a customer extra money if instructions are unclear.

The guy (Jose) that originally helped me so rude. I get it they were busy, but him being rude to people sure makes things WORSTE. He should not be . My trailer rental was horrible. I spent hours This time getting a trailer. One girl was so rude on the phone after I had been on hold for 30'min. That's why I ended up driving to SF to rent after hours of calling. U haul needs undercover boss or some retraining to employees. I live in Concord but go to SF because I like that UHaul. He should be retrained I then was helped by another young lady that was nice and helpful overall not a good experience

Karen at this location was Exceptional with her customer service skills with me and others when she didn't know I was watching. I was in retail mgmt. for 20+ years with a 100 + stores nationwide chain. Great effort from this location! Reserving the truck and pick up was less than SUBSTANDARD and makes me want to never do business with your company again. I've used your services a few times through the years along with Budget, Hertz and Penski... and this was the Worst. I reserved the truck 6 days in advance on Mon. to pick up on Sat. 26ft. Truck pickup in Fairfield, CA. Within an hour the reservation was switched to Novato 35 miles in the opposite direction and was told to check 2 days before pick up to confirm. Thurs. your website/emails/texts still has me to pick up in Fairfield, so I call Novato... they tell me they won't have truck for Sat. Call 800 cust. and they downsize my truck but have 1 in a Oakland, she says oops my apologies, that's not available. She finds a 20 ft. truck in SF 45 miles in the wrong direction. Fri. I call SF location, they confirm they have the truck, but I have to be there by 4p when they close or after hours with my smart phone/ lock box. I set appt. for 6p. A friend drives me to SF location in Fri. commute traffic. There on time and website gives me no Options for Pickup. Call 800 cust. service and was on the phone for over 1 hour with 6 different agents. The first one sighed in disgust and I was transferred to another then disconnected. ,I called back, talked to 4 others and no one had the same information and had no clue how to handle. The 6th one informed me this truck was already booked and not available because it was going 1- way on Sat. morning. I was upset but polite and she tried to call the owner of the location by cell and he didn't answer. The woman found another truck in SF 20 mins. away and I finally obtained the truck by 8p! I started the confirmation process approx. 3p. If I wasn't calm & persistent or tried doing this on Sat. when I needed it, the truck wouldn't have been available or I would've got it late in the afternoon not being able to meet my deadlines. Your committed reservation # process is flawed, the workflow was inefficient & ineffective and the communication and customer service was terrible. You're one of the biggest & oldest companies soon this and I expected much more... things have really gone downhill. The only upside was that I was comp'd the $50 reservation fee and reduced mileage charge, but cost me more than the original deal. If this wasn't a crucial move this weekend, I would have canceled and went with another company. F+ at best. the online check in is worthless. the app made me walk all of the way out to the large lot to find the van, then I had to wait for over 10 minutes for the online verification. to make matters worse, I had to walk all of the way back into the store to pick up the key. no signs indicating where to go or how not to make 15 people waiting in a covid -19 line from getting mad when walking to the front. you can do better!

I left with a that didn't drive 16 miles before running out of gas. the fuel guage was broken and didn't even register the fuel I put in. On my return I was met with "policy" and a very minimal refund not unlike regular use. I would not reccomend this location to a friend nor ever use U-Haul again.

I took the time and did everything on line. Did the reservation and also the check in. I arrived at my time and still had to go through a check in process. The trailer was there and clean. I noticed that one tire was bald, no thread. I was told it was ok, but I refused. I did get another trailer, but I would think the bald tire wouldn't have passed a routine safety inspection.

Your staff uses a dolly that makes a deafening banging noise every inch of it moves to bring retail supplies from warehouse to the front office. Not only was it distracting but it was so loud I couldn't hear anything the associate behind the counter was saying. Pls be considerate & allow customers / associates to discuss business without the metal banging noise in the background.

Warn your customers that: - If you're late to pick up a truck, your reservation may be cancelled. - Your parking lot locks at night, preventing customers from retrieving their personal vehicles. Both of these policies are totally reasonable to have, you just need to clearly communicate them so that customers have the correct expectations.

We had to wait 20 extra minutes for our rental to be delivered. The Van we were given was all the way to the back of the inventory and the driver had to go and get a new car key. On the way to the counter he stopped to talk to someone that was either being dropped off or was leaving work. he then came back with a different car key. Apparently the key did not work or not sure what the problem was, he again had to go in and get a 3rd set of keys to move another Van that was in front of the eventual Van we were given. The inventory seems to not be accounted for either at the desk or in the parking lot.

Elevators out of order. Rodent eating my furniture. No supervision of other customers, not even a guideline, so once I came upon a man clipping his toenails in the aisle. Another time, a customer took every single cart and the staff would do nothing about it. One of my cards never worked, and one of the latches was so warped it took 15 minutes to be locked.

I waited for a very long time for the sole staff available (20 min). I had rented an 8x8x8 storage. She had to unlock the storage first, yet she chose to take care of the next client. After waiting for an additional 10 min, we proceeded to my storage unit. I discovered that a quarter of the unit was occupied by a very large column (2.5 x 3). She mentioned she knew about it and almost insinuated that I should have known; she insisted that it was an 8x8x8. The unit was useless to me as I needed to place 2 large items (a couch and an erg machine). She refused to upgrade me. She refused to help out finding an alternate facility. I eventually had to drive close to 30 miles away to be able to store my items. A terrible experience unlike the one at the Oakland Coliseum's. I will never rent from the Bayshore location ever again.

There are way to homeless and unstable people lurking around and loitering, so much so that I never felt safe. Took a while to get a unit - confusion on sizes Was told a 4x7x8 - reserved it and it couldn’t even fit a mattress in there. Pricing also changed numerous times from initial $84 to $94 to $149

Overall great. A couple of small negatives were that the local support was not well versed with Ubox, but the on phone staff were very helpful. Also, there was a screw up with credit card billing.

The average rating is because of the elevator, it should be stressed personally to all customers CLOSE ELEVATOR DOORS, that makes for a very long and costly day where you don't can't finish moving.
