I reserved for an online/mobile pick up of a van. The van assigned to me was blocked in, forcing me to wait in line for a considerable time to be reassigned another vehicle and then to wait for that vehicle to be brought around. At drop off, I was charged for EZ Fuel when I had topped up the fuel myself, even turning it in with 1/8 tank more fuel than what was in the vehicle at pick up. I disputed the charges at drop off but was told that the variance was due to tax. I didn't get to see the receipt until I received it in email, where I then found the fueling charge. I got scammed and I will tells everyone I know not to go there or possibly use Uhaul. There are plenty of other options for vans.

I returned the trailer within 24 hours. I got an email receipt the following day showing a drop-off date for 1 day after my drop off. I had to call. I was told something like for drop-off I was to be charged for 2 days even though I had it for 1. Finally they refunded me for the second day. I felt like I was getting ripped off.

why we can not pay cash upfront? I had cash on me and I didn't have any money in my card . I was asked to use the card to withhold the money upfront! why can't u get whatever cash amount money you like , why it has to be a bank account. ok I told them keep my bank account card info and I like to pay cash . they said NO . I had to deal with this birocracy so I drove from there to the bank and back, waisted time for something I think it could be done the easier way and we all happy.

Helpful and friends counter and yard service guys, even considering the early hour of the pick. The counter staff was thoughtful and answered all of my questions patiently and courteously. The staff who helped us attach the trailer gave a very clear and thorough tutorial despite the rain.

Work on your website- very user unfriendly and causing a lot of issues. Was only able to resolve these by going into the Mtn View CA location- they were great and resolved all the issues but not without a lot of work.

More staffing. Took a while to actually get the truck once it was paid for. There was only 1employee driving all the trucks out and a like of 4 people waiting to get their trucks in the waiting area.

The employees were very friendly and efficient and I recieved great customer service, but I had a lot of problems with my van and the actual reservation once I left. The van smelled like cigarettes the whole day and I found a malt liquor can in the cabin. The guy who showed me the van specifically told me I didn't have to take pictures of the van because he'd send me a link. I got the link which worked initially, but it said "expired" once I pulled it up to talk about a scratch on the van at the drop off location. This meant I no longer had proof of what the van looked like. Also, apparently the van they gave me was not supposed to be a one way rental which ultimately wasn't a big deal for me as a customer, but it did cause confusion at the drop off. Once again, the employees were great, but the van was dirty and linked picture thing needs to work better if uhaul is going to offer it.

Why on earth do you need two phone numbers from me? I only have one phone. You did not offer two contact numbers for uhaul, nor was the associate who wanted two phone numbers from me willing to give me his mobile number. Here is how a phone works: Call, if no one answers, leave message, receive call back.

Our appointment was for 7:30 AM, so we arrive around 7:20. I walk up to the counter with my fiancée and explain that we're here to pick up the truck we rented, along with some moving supplies. I thought this would be a quick process since I had already paid and checked in online, but I was wrong. The person behind the counter stares at us while chewing gum the entire time, and then tells us that we're at the wrong location to pick up the moving supplies. What happened was that we originally booked everything at the Bryant street location, but the email I got a few days before the pick up date said to go to Candlestick. We had to change our transportation plans to accommodate, but this wasn't a big deal. What was more obnoxious was that the moving supplies were still supposed to be picked up at the Bryant street location and there was no indication of that in the email, but still, not a huge deal. Then I find out that the truck we were being given had 1/8th of a tank of gas in it, and there wouldn't be any credit for gas; we would have to return it with 1/8th of a tank. It's a little annoying when you're trying to get on the road as soon as possible, and then you find our you'll have to gas up and then do math as you go to figure out how to roll into town on 1/8th of a tank. Up until this point I had made of point of rolling with the punches and being polite (I've worked retail before, so I know what it's like to deal with unreasonable customers), but I started to get a little bit agitated here. We wanted to get on the road ASAP because we had a 13 hour day of driving ahead of us, and we had already waited for about 30 minutes while the person behind the counter looked things up on her computer and told us that she was powerless to help us. The one bright spot was the guy who was out on the truck lot. He was really friendly and helpful, and the truck was in good condition too. It was 8 AM by the time we left (at least I checked in online; apparently that saves half the time. I would have waited 80 minutes to get the keys if I hadn't done that!). My fiancée and I load up our stuff and head on over to the Bryant street UHaul. I go in and politely ask about the supplies that I'm here to pick up. Of course, I'm 'not in the system' (despite the fact that the folks at Candlestick found the truck and moving supplies reservations just fine) and there's nothing they can do to help me. They blame the people at Candlestick for not giving me the moving supplies as well as the truck. I sort of expected this to happen when I left Candlestick since I've been jerked around by two locations blaming each other before, but it was still pretty irritating. I still haven't picked up the moving supplies, and I won't since I'm 800 miles away now. It's only about $40 worth of stuff, but it's still pretty unethical to take someones money days in advance and then pull the 'can't find you in the system' charade. I had no leverage to wait longer for their manager

Friendly and kind staff. However - Few surprise about storage. I had to purchase insurance and I had to pay for a lock. Id appreciate if person on the phone would inform me about that earlier before coming to this locaiton. Another inconvenience that could have been discussed earlier - the storage room itself was located at the basement floor, and path to each storage unit is very narrow that wouldn't allow to bring bike inside and will not suit well my needs. I decided not to even try bringing my belongings in and using the storage at all.

While the equipment was clean and well maintained I had an issue with the fueling system, this would have been avoided if the person who is in charge of maintenance had fuel the vehicle and corrected the problem before it becomes an issue and domebody gets stuck in the middle of nowhere out of fuel

my pickup location was changed with a very short notice, an email was just sent about the change, no phone call or anything. The representative sent me a text when I was already at the original pick up store.

My disappointment was that I booke the truck for the DALY City location and was confirmed. At 7pm I got a text that it was change to the Bay shore location. I had a ride all set up to drop me off at the Daly City location so I had to scramble to find a ride to pick up at the new location. Why do you show on line that you have the truck available at a specific location when in fact that location doesn’t carry such large trucks? Very disspointry in that. When I picked up the truck at the Bay Shore location there was another customer complaining about the same thing. That is no way to do business.

This review is not for the bay shore location, it was fine, no issues. My complaint is with U-Haul itself. We scheduled an online pickup and when we went to retrieve the vehicle were notified the previous user did not leave the key in the lock box so we could not get the vehicle. We then had to go to the Bayshore U-Haul to receive another vehicle. This was a major inconvenience and caused delays in our already long and stressful moving day. It seems like if there is an issue of this nature the least you could do is notify the renter so they can plan accordingly. Will not be recommending or using U-Haul again.
