Richard L | Expérience généraleI made my reservation over the phone and explained that I would be traveling alot of miles in the truck (not out of state or anything) and explained that I would need the truck until Sunday evening. The woman I spoke to over the phone understood and said it wouldn't be a problem. I paid $50 to reserve the truck and she said to estimate how many miles I would be driving and I could pay for the 0,79 a mile & the 3 day truck rental fee in cash when I picked up the rental truck.When I went to pick up the truck the guy (Chuck) was short, rude and contradicted everything the lady and I spoke about & agreed to, when I made my reservation. He said that he shouldn't even let me rent the truck because it was suppose to be local only, that I had to have the truck back by Sunday morning and if I didn't have it back by 11 am, I would be charged for another day then he refused to take my cash. Chuck's explanation for not taking the cash was that when I returned the truck he may have to reimburse me some money and didn't wanna have to deal with it and may not even have cash on hand. When I tried to estimate how many miles I would driving, I wanted to prepay for 800 miles and he refused and put in 725 miles instead. I then I explained that my phone service would be spotty and that I would do my best to have the truck back by Sunday morning. He didn't take me to the truck, show me how the backdoor worked or explain anything regarding how to operate the truck (the many buttons on the dash) or even help me locate or load the appliance dolly, I rented. On Sunday morning, I was informed that apparently, Omar left a few very rude and kinda hostile voicemails on my emergency contact's phone stating they had been trying to get a hold of me for 2 days because I was suppose to have had the truck back on Friday and he demanded to know where the truck was and when I planned bringing it back. When I returned his call, he was very argumentative and disrespectful. I tried to explain to him that I had already explained to Chuck that I wouldn't have phone service and would be hard to reach and if there was an issue that emailing or texting would be the best way to contact me and when I had service, I would call them back. I tried to explain that I the contract in my hand and it said that the truck wasn't due back until Sunday and that I was actually on my way with the truck. I questioned if he had a copy of the contract or had read it because it clearly says I had prepaid and rented the truck from 7/18 - 7/21 for 725 miles ($747,14). He then stated he couldn't look at the contract because he was too busy to deal with me. Upon returning the truck, I had went 842 miles so I went over Chuck's estimate by 117 miles. On my final receipt I was charged for an extra day and the extra 117 miles, which has been took from my bank account ($895,73). I have also had 2 holds on my account from U-HAUL for ($148,59) & ($103,09) and I have no idea why. This was not the first time I rented from U-HAUL but it will be my last. I was apparently mislead from the start, when I made the reservation and then upon picking up the truck, I was treated like I was a nuisance instead a customer and talked to rudely, disrespectfully. Then there's unprofessional and hostile voicemails that were left unnecessarily and finally the 2 extra holds on my bank account for $251.68.

Bob MCommunication between Uhaul customer service line and local locations needs to be greatly improved. I witnessed a breakdown in communication between my local location and the customer service phone line two times during my experience which led to rescheduling my installation twice. The office worker I dealt with on both occasions said to me that they "have no idea what they are doing." This does not instill confidence in Uhaul as a customer.
DEVON FThe gentleman behind the counter was very rude and unprofessional. When I approached him about being there to pick up my rental (that should have been at a location 30mins away that wasn't there after being reserved over a week earlier.) He simply stated that was just the preferred pick up spot not a guarantee that it would be there. The guy I spoke with at Uhaul at West Knoxville was even more rude when I got there 30 minutes after opening time he had to some in store walk around and turn on lights , when I said that I had a reservation and started to show him reservation number he abruptly cut me off and stated " just a name people always cone thought the door waving a piece of paper" when the RESERVED truck wasn't there he just pulled his screen around to show me and said " we'll I just don't have it" took 20mins for him to find one complete on the other side of Knoxville and said if you want a truck today that's where it is. No apologies for a truck being reserved not being at the location less the a mile from where I needed to load the truck but " if you want a truck drive completely on the opposite side of town" and drive back to the other side of town to use the truck. Uhaul needs to better train their employees on customer relations. More than likely will never use or recommend the Uhaul to anyone again.
Kenneth AThe person who helped me did not explain things very well. He was pleasant but when I asked him if he needed my auto insurance information his response was, "this has nothing to do with your insurance." I thought that response was a bit abrupt and odd. I asked him some other questions and his answers were very curt and matter of fact. When I returned the truck, the receipt he gave me still showed the minimum 75 miles and the original hold amount on my credit card. When I asked him about that, and why I was still being charged that much, his response was "that's how corporate says we have to do it." That was not a very clear explanation. His communication skills need some improvement.
KELLY MWe pulled up to where it says drop off. It says wait in your car. We waited for 15min no one ever came out. We went in 2 guys was eating. Told him we was there to drop a trailer off. He said just drop it there. We go out unhook everything. He comes out and says. Can you hook it back up. That's my bad I didn't know the trailer was that big. We told him no he was to worried about eating to look. And left it where it was at. Both places was horrible customer service. Laziest people I ever saw.

Shawn RI could write an essay about our horrible experience here. We had rented a unit for 4 months. Our first month we were charged a 40$ late fee when we paid the fee on the day it was due on my mobile app. After arguing with the owner he eventually stated we would be reimbursed on our next bill this never happened. He also charged a 150$ hold in our card to rent another U-Haul truck that he claims is "his" so he gets "his equipment back" and when questioned about this because online it stated we were expected to pay 40$ upon pick up and 99- cents a mile upon return the owner stated very condescending "actually this is right." At this point we were fed up with the back and forth and paid the fee anyways. When emptying the unit there were roaches scattering underneath our stuff, which was unexpected. In conclusion we will no longer use U-Haul for our moving needs and NOT recommend this location or U-Haul as a whole to any of our military friends and family who move frequently.
Abigail MPerson was very angry and upset about me returning the trailer to this location saying that his lot was too full to receive another trailer. He then pushed open the back door of the business nearly ripping the door off it's hinges. He then ripped the trailer off my truck and pushed it off to the side and then told me with a stern voice to have a nice day. Wow....who messed in his Wheaties!

Somebody should have let us know to back into the alley where it unit was. It would have been a much smoother experience. Omar was great to us with both truck and trailer returns as well as the first unit check out.

Most times I would go to the facility an employees were rude etc Chuck the Mgr was always nice however other employees were not as helpful or as nice until the day I moved out if they didn't want my business they could have just said so I can only pray I don't need uhual again in the future also I these text msgs I got from uhual are very delayed I am just now seeing most of these an they say they came through on Monday hmm I've never missed a text msg before this is bull crap not real happy but hey what can one really do clearly not much enjoy

Jeff O | Expérience généraleMy experience with this location started after a 2 day drive across the country in a U-Haul truck. I had a reservation for a unit in advance and I showed up on time. The manager of the location was the person working on a Sunday. I told him that I had a reservation for a storage room and he immediately told me that I didn't. He looked at the computer and found it. He was very aggressive and dismissive. Upon move out, I again spoke to him and he was very rude. I asked him about moving out to which he told me he couldn't help me and that the guy who was pumping propane would be in to help me sometime. I waited for a long time and gave up. Another customer came in while I was waiting and gave up too. I completed the move out online. The employees at this location are rude and unhelpful. They have equipment parked all over the place, making an already tight driveway almost impossible to navigate in a U-Haul truck.

The girl who was working at this location had already locked the door BEFORE 7pm, so she closed EARLY and was basically hiding in the back waiting for me to leave. She waited until I started walking back to my car, then she trotted to her car, got in and drove off. I had to wait until the next morning to unload my trailer - and as it turned out it RAINED ALL DAY on Tuesday, so my son and I got completely soaked while unloading the trailer. If the girl who worked the night before had kept the location open until the ACTUAL closing time, we could have unloaded in beautiful, dry weather. Once we unloaded the trailer on August 17, 2021 I went inside and told the guy who was working that we were dropping off the trailer. He told me where to park and unhook it, then came over once we'd unhooked it and he looked in the back end to confirm that the furniture pads were inside. He had other trucks to get moved, so he said he would close out my rental and send me an email. He did NOT do that, and Uhaul tried to charge my credit card for additional days because they showed that I didn't return the trailer until August 20, 2021. So because this location happens to have lazy, unorganized employees who apparently don't care how poorly they perform their jobs, your records show that I had the trailer through August 20th when I actually dropped it off EARLY. So instead of CHARGING me you can GIVE ME A CREDIT!!

After almost not getting a truck that I had reserved over a month ago it was never assigned to me. They found me one. But unbeknownst to me this one did not fulfill the original requirement for a free rental of one month. I had a melt down on the rental folks. They finally worked something out with me. But the truck rental people over charged for mileage because of there screw up.

The units are near the woods and I don't know how they could control that but it was unpleasant unwrapping boxes and we even threw a few things away.

Then during the middle of their conversation started texting, who we assume was his boss and said he was going to give her a piece of his mind. I chose this facility because I assumed it being u haul that it would be up to date and nice. But, the unit has duct tape on the insulated ceiling and water stains on the ground. If it wasn't for the fact that I only had helpers for one day, I would have went somewhere else.

Kathy J | Expérience généraleWe have used UHaul storage service numerous times before but unfortunately our storage experience at this location has been the worst. We only stored our belongings in the two units for a little over two months and were horrified when a large amount of rat feces, nuts, almond, flakes, hard candy and chewed up fabric were found on the outside and the inside of many of our boxes and some bags on our move-out day (We did NOT store any food items in our boxes). It's clear that the rat poison (the black box) placed inside one fo the two units did not deter their activities too much. Having said that, I am almost certain that the nuts, almond flakes and hard candy were from other storage units as some other customers might have stored these prohibited items. It has been a tremendously stressful process to go through each box and to clean up all the rat waste and chewed up debris before placing them into our new home. Perhaps this experience has taught us that the risk of rat activities is rather high in drive-up units. Lesson learned and hopefully we will plan better accordingly next time.
