Front desk service is EXTREMELY SLOW to the point of being extremely maddening. Either you need more staff or to have more staff working inside. The way customers are handled is also VERY INEFFICIENT. I would recommend this place if my friend was desperate for a moving van like I was. I ended up being charged a total of $114,8 to use a van that came dirty (couldn't see anything from the back up cam) and for some terrible customer service. The guy at the counter was useless. I also didn't get my dolly and I go charged for it. The guy just handed me a key and said look for the number on the van, said nothing about having to grab the dolly myself, I assumed people at this place got paid to do more than just sit on their asses. But I guess I was wrong. Also I live in Canada!! We have some very icy and snowy roads, this van was horrible in the snow and on the icy roads. Over all I am very in pleased with my experience and wouldn't rent from you guys again.Keisha H.

The staff at this location were so kind. They went above and beyond when we were picking up our trailer. Our truck's electrical connection wouldn't work with the trailer, and as I was standing in line to cancel our reservation, one of the managers approached to ask what the difficulty was. About half an hour later, me and my kids were pulling away with the trailer in tow. Absolutely outstanding customer service. I will be back!Christine P.

This is the second time in a month I've used this location and both times it was a mess. I tired to pick up a truck I had rented, the truck wasn't located where the site said it was. I went and talk to an employee and found out the truck was parked behind the building. Because it was behind the building and no one could see it, it was covered in several inches of snow and ice. I asked for a snow brush and scraper, no employee offered to assist. And the equipment I had rented was not in the truck.Allen M.

The only thing I would change is make it a little easier to figure out where to drive to get into the storage units. Have some type of signs with arrows or something so we know where to go. It is a little confusing. But besides that, the staff where awesome, very polite and professional and the prices are really good compared to other places in Kelowna. When i arrived to pick up the vehicle i was told that i couldn't rent the vehicle and was bumped out of line. The reason was that i returned the trailer late the previous year. It would have been nice to know that before i reserved it and flew in from Prince George that morning. Then when getting the vehicle during the inspection the fuel wasn't full. It was under 3/4 and the guy said it wasn't a problem just fill it close to the 3/4 line. I felt that it was going to be a problem and should be full when picking it up then i would return it the same way. This is a way to nickle and dime your customers to the company's benefit!Greig Q.

When we went to return the truck, we were left waiting in the parking lot while the employee went to park another truck. Half an hour later, he came back. Meanwhile, another employee had jumped into the truck and begun again to compute our extra charges. I had rented two dolly's with the truck but when I picked up the truck I was told that location had no dollys. The employee was less than helpful and didn't even offer to remove the charges I had for the dolly until I pressed for it.Allen M.
On this occasion my experience was unpleasant. Before arriving at the branch verify that they have a pickup truck available. When I arrived they told me that there was an error in the system and that they only had a 10' van available, this truck was too big for what I needed to do. Then I was charged $71 of hold in 5 times on 2 different credit cards, the girl who helped me said it was a system error. When I returned the truck I made my claim and I was only refunded $20. A suggestion for improvement: Make sure check-in employees tell/remind the customer to leave the vehicle in the drop off zone just outside the entry way when they return the vehicle. I wasn't informed of this and I parked the vehicle, walked to the front desk and then was told I needed to take it to the drop off area to check out. This added to my check out time and had they told me at check-in that I was supposed to do this, it would have made the rental experience even better.Frederick F.

The only reason why I am using this services in spite of its drawbacks is its proximity to where I live. First problem, the guy Peter who signed me up, charged me for a lock without asking me. I had U-haul storage at West Kelowna location last year and I had purchased a lock already. So, I directly saw the charges on the bill. Not good! Secondly, I reached the facility around 6 30 pm and the very first thing they tell me is a heads up that they are closing in 30 minutes. OKAY! Wow..... no Hi, no Hello, no welcome to U haul etc. Just concerned about what time it says on the clock. And its not even that I came in around the last 10 minutes of their working hours when they give me a heads up. We had a good 30 minutes to get the paper work done etc. Now the guy who signed me up was interested in closing the shop and running home so he didn't care to show me to my storage unit. He gave me a map and then I was on my own in a huge labyrinth. At west kelowna location, they were way more courteous and professional. I had a positive, short term experience in this facility. However, from day one my password on the key card said access denied...which I mentioned to the staff. No one came to "lock me up" so to speak when the alarm went off...so eventually I ignored it. Other than that...the only issue was not being able to do autopay with my debit...so I had to wait in long lines most times to pay monthly. This particular facility had overcharged me for months as they would not allow me to gain access into my unit. U-Haul owes me 6 months worth rent due to this. When we tried reaching out to the manager, he would never come out of the office or call back. When I finally removed my belongings, I was sent another bill, didn't pay it, so was charged late fees for an empty unit. Also, no one ever seemed to know what was going and could not give me any answers. Again, when they tried to reach the manager, he was no where to be found or would not come out to talk to me. Inside the Ubox needs more tie down rings to secure contents. There are none at the front which will be problematic for objects shifting. It would be great to see them more like big steel box where there are rings along the whole top and bottom to make sure things stay in place. Would also love to weigh the box on site to know if we are over 2 000 lbs as we are leaving the province and won't be able to adjust the box if it is over weight and cannot afford a surprise charge.LOGAN G.
I have had the experience with uhaul a few times where the reserved equipment is not available. In this case your employee - I wish I could remember his (maybe Darren). Went above and beyond for me to solve my problem. This guy was amazing and should get a raise. I am not sure that I can completely trust uhaul as a company as they have left me hanging a few times - always in very sensitive situations when I desperately needed the exact equipment I reserved to be at the location I reserved it at the right time.Patrick L.

The guy at the counter was friendly and answered my question the guy that sat in the truck that told me I had 30 minutes to move my stuff in after Uhaul had changed my time of pick up on the truck from 9:30 to 1:30 was a typical millennial. When we arrived there were 11 people in front of us waiting to be served and only 2 people behind the counter. A third person showed up shortly thereafter which did speed things up. We dealt with Vaughn who we cannot say enough good things about. In addition to apologizing to us for the wait he was very cheerful, very thorough as he walked us through the whole process and worked hard to get us on our way as soon as possible. I will never use uhaul again. I was told my storage unit would be prorated since I didn't need the full month and that was not honoured. The staff do not know enough about their job. They do not answer the intercom or the phone so you have to go all the way back to get them to help you with THEIR mess up. And one of the bay doors is always broken. There were transient people in the storage area several times which made me feel less secure leaving my stuff in the loading area betweeen loads. It's often hot in the loading area and the a/c doesn't seem to be working/a priority for them, they close the gates on the exit early so we've had to back out of the loading are with a trailer, quite often only one door is working in the loading area, quite often the bathrooms are out of supplies.Jessamyn M. | Expérience générale

They gave an alternative storage of same size but charged us more than what had in our reservation. Most staff is helpful. An acting manager named lalit was terrible. Major confusion with my unit as uhaul apparently does not have an efficient means of tracking customer storage unit. While dealing with the situation with a helpful employee named jack, lalit the supervisor came over and threatened to evict me because I was there after hours trying to get access to my unit (accompanied by one of your employees). Overall using uhaul has been an awful experience and seeing the supervisor of that branch act in appropriately in a stressful situation is the final straw for me, my partner and all of our friends in Kelowna.mike c. | Premières impressions
Worst experience ever with any service. I also rented a truck which was a similar experience. -there wasnt a time I went to access my unit when there wasnt sone issue requiring me to see the front desk starting with check in when they rented me a unit that was already occupied. -twice I attended my unit and found a circular lock on my unit. It wasnt until the 2nd time this happened that I was told they required this terrible lock -i enrolled for autopay when I checked in but was never billed for the first month and I incurred a late charge. I then went online and set it up (again) but then continued to get delinquent notices in the mail -staff ranged from indifferent to quite helpful but in general I got the sense there were not enough staff to deliver much of a smooth experience -lastly your app is not great and doesnt seem to talk to the local sales system -I will never if given a choice deal with Uhaul againCOREY K. | Expérience générale

I usually don't take the time to write these but thought this was important for you to recognize some issues that your company has. My original truck was cancelled at this location and I was told that the next similar truck was about 1,5-2 hours away. I went in to try to find an alternative and the East Indian guy working at the front desk was very rude to me, kept talking over me and at one point told me to be quiet and call "that" number, even though a number had not been provided. He didn't try to help me one bit. I asked him what the point of making a reservation was and he simply said that it wasn't guaranteed. So I said, you mean to tell me that the company makes a hundred reservations and only fills like 10 of them and he replied, "yes"! I asked again for clarification to make sure that I was hearing him correctly and that he understood what I was asking. Same response. As I was in the phone, on hold, with a number that he finally provided me, his co-worker came up and asked if I needed any help. I told her my issue and she provided me with an alternative to get a smaller truck but take multiple trips. Although not the ideal situation, it was a far better than not having any truck or solution to the problem. She was also there the day that we picked up the truck and was very helpful once again. Needless to say my experience was not what it could have been if I hadn't of been treated with such disrespect and rudeness. I answered yes to #6, but I have to add that I would only recommend Uhaul storage if some major changes were made: 1. I know staff shortage is a major issue for a lot of companies right now but if there were more people working in the office it would really help with the congestion and the long wait times 2. Because uhaul isn't just a storage facility and it's main focus are renting out trucks it's causing a lot of problems meeting customer needs 3. Customers should not be able to book storage units online without at least having a staff member physically check that the unit is indeed available and empty! I paid for a unit on the ground floor and when I went there someone's lock was on my unit which was under my name and judging by the size of the door there's no way it was a 10x10. I tried to call the office using the intercom located nearby and no one answered which made me have to drive all the way back around to the office and wait in line and the time I could speak to someone and have the problem figured out I lost significant time that I needed to move out of another unit at a different facility making me and the person who had graciously offered to help rush, if I had hired movers this would have wasted their time and mine and costed me money 4. This caused a lot of frustration, especially because when I'd first come in to pay for the unit I requested to see it for myself which the employee didn't agree to do, but if they had this problem could have been prevented. Staff should be taking customers on a quick tour of the facility to show them how everything works and be able to see their unit to make sure it's available and empty and I know this is protocol because I witnessed one of your employees doing this with another customer 5. The broken garage EXIT door. Is a real safety hazard, because the only way to get in and out of the loading garage is through one door while the other one is unusable because a serious safety issue and I'm aware this isn't Uhauls fault, I was told a customer had run a truck or their vehicle into the door and was told that this happens a lot, so if that's the case then a better system needs to be put in place or there needs to be a staff member there monitoring customers moving in and out or leave the doors open during moving hours 6. Poor security system, I can't tell you how many times I was startled to death because the alarm was triggered every single time I was up in my unit working! I assume because people forget to put in their code the first time the enter and before they're about to leave. It's terribly annoying and upsetting, that alarm is not quiet! At my previous storage you had to put your code in only when you wanted to move the elevator UP to another floor or if you wanted to access the bathroom but that's it. If you entered your code in wrong the elevator simply wouldn't go anywhere, it never triggered the alarm. 6. Clearly the locks that you must purchase were never intended for the mechanism on the door because it's extremely difficult to put it on there and take it off, it should be a-lot easier, making it this hard creates more issues since people sometimes need to force it making it easier to damage or break and then no one can use the unit at all! 6. There's no manager on site. Your staff are doing the best they can but they are overworked, overwhelmed and lack training and experience which means they need a supervisor to handle any issues that arise Anyways I'm sorry if it sounds that I have nothing good to say, I'm quite happy with the price, the trolleys are very smooth and easy to maneuver and although I now don't have a ground level unit anymore and have not been issued a refund for my lock and one day this mishap costed me where I couldn't use my unit, like I was promised I do like the indoor loading zone and Uhauls general set up and I think it's possible for Uhaul to be so much better, I've been a customer for many many years, rented many moving trucks and I'd love to actually see them thrive and even consider helping them implement it.geraldine j. | Premières impressions

The young gentleman who helped me was wonderful. Explained everything and didn't rush thru but very timely. Much appreciated. My only concern is he was limping badly as he hurt from an accident boarding to work, a car ran him off the road and he crashed into a tree.
