I am grossly dissatisfied with my entire experience at UHaul. The clerk serving me treated me like I was a moron. At first, he told me there were no cargo vans available despite having given him my name and let him know that I booked online. Then he did not give me any instructions on how to find the van. I thought the van parked out front was the van I rented but the key didn't work. When I went inside to ask, he continued to be condescending toward me -- he and another snickering as I exited the shop. Then a helpful clerk (didn't catch his name, he was black) came out after to me to explain that there is a number on the keychain that corresponds to a number on the vehicle - this was not explained to me by the first clerk. The van was dirty inside and out when I picked it up, yet I was charged a cleaning fee. I did not contribute at all to any dirt in or on the van. Further, the clerk serving me did not tell me where the key return was so when I returned it that night, it took me awhile to find it. I will not use your business again, nor will I recommend it, especially to another woman.Margo Y.

I dropped off the truck and tried to go online to say I have returned the vehicle and I could not get the website to register my location. It took me 45 mins and I had to finally call in. Definitely frustrating but it had nothing to do with the guys at the location. Please higher more people so we don't have to wait 1/2 an hour in line as well. Once again that is nothing to do with the employees. Thank you have a great nightDAVID G.

The vehicle/ van I rented was filthy outside with grease and tar all over it; so dirty I couldn't confirm there was no exterior damage. The indicator was broken and I was stopped by police as they believed I was not indicating while turning. Wipers were well worn- That was my experienceBLAKE C.

As we are driving away the low battery, change oil lights lit up. The gas tank was below a quarter tank. We put 15,00 $ worth of gas in for a total of 16 km. Gas gauge remained less than a quarter of a tank. Not impressed. Communication inconsistent with pick up guy and drop off guy. Pick up guy said just take a photo of any concerns. Drop off guy said we should have brought issues forward before leaving with truck. We have photos of gas gauge, etc and ding in door.PAUL V.

When I arrived with my reservation on the 18th there was no truck. The next day I waited 30 minutes to get the keys with 2 people in front of me. The truck was nearly out of gas instead of full. Then I got a bill for nearly 100 $without the gas refund, The truck said the battery was low and the oil needed changing. Shall I go on?DAVID R.
A new employee ? He did not understand hitch weights and refused to hook up the trailer, and was very rude about it. I had to go back into the office and get it straightened out by someone else. Delayed me by about 40 minutes. Other than tis time I always received excellent service at this location and other locationsBRUCE C.
We were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience at U-Haul. From the call centre when I booked it, right through to when we dropped the trailer off. Every person we spoke to was professional, courteous and helpful. The process was seamless. I really didn't know what to expect as I have never had to rent a car trailer but this experience was so good, I will never hesitate to use U=HAUL in the future. Pickup truck bed was full of wood debris and garbage upon pickup. Cab was full of wood chips and used paper towels. Very dirty. Had to ask to have it swept out before leaving rental place. Also, a lot of damage was not noted prior to my rental. Made sure to take a lot of pictures prior to leaving rental location. Trucks should be clean and prior damage noted prior to next customer.MARK R.

I have thus far been renting form this location for a solid 11 years now and never troubles with staff or attitudes typically except three times ever so pretty darn good. My issue more recently is the fact that this location is only carrying a few larger Uhaul trucks on hand and that makes it quite tough and trying to land a truck as of late. To that aspect it has now become below average for the first time. This location needs MORE trucks! Not so many of the dinky little ones!!! And when a truck needs servicing, please get it done! The online check in was the only good thing with my experience. To get the key it said to go straight to the counter for pick up and when i got there the one and only worker just looked at my and kept helping the people in line. I waited 5 min until someone came and i had to stop them and ask about it. The worker made me feel like I was being a bother. The Cargo Van was clean enough. When I started driving the rear break light and top trim piece came off and was danging by a few wires. I went to go put it back on and it stayed on for 5 min.ALEXANDER O.

Upon arrival for drop off, there was nobody waiting. There were three of us waiting and nobody came for about 5 minutes. I finally went in and asked If there was anyone there checking in vehicles and the two staff literally looked at each other (confused) and were both seemingly not interested in going outside. Make sure the vehicle is re-fueled prior to customer picking it up. They expected me to refuel it, and return it with more gas in it than when I picked it up. They said the previous user did not return it with ample gas in it, so I was responsible to fill it up, and they would re-imburse me. I don't work for UHaul, I just pay good money to rent the vehicle. Have one of your employees check it over and fill it up before it's my turn to rent the truck! Wow. Also, paid for furniture moving pads, and a dolly, neither were in the vehicle when I left the facility, so had to go back to pick them up. Employee said â€œ oh yeah, you have to just grab them yourself â€œ. Thanks for that! Had to do my own check over of the vehicle when I picked it up as they don't bother any more. Just take pictures and dispute it if there's something you see that's not already noted on the sheet. What a shit-show. Terrible experience. Won't even get into the half-hour ordeal of when I returned the vehicle and tried to get my overcharges refunded. No trained staff, poorly run company for sure. Thank you so much. The lockers were exactly what I needed and it was very helpful to have a dry load/unload bay. Only issue is the elevator does not stop properly to match the floor height. Another customer had a large picture tip because of the unevenness and the glass shattered. It should be a simple fix.KEVIN H. | Expérience générale
Even with 2-3 service desks, service here feels slow. I also felt rushed to leave because my truck was brought to the front of the store which blocked a few parked cars. This made me feel rushed with my initial inspection of the truck. Similar to how there's an offloading area, having a designated pick up lot/parking spot would be nice.Felix G.
Truck had fuel & was in good working order but it was filthy this time. Cigarette butt in the cup holder and pizza boxes in the back. It also had not been swept out. I cleaned it out for myself & the previous customer when I returned it.CHERYL S.

The staff did the best they could with what they had. However, leaving 3 teenage boys to run a uhaul trucka nd storage facility is unfair to everyone involved. There were atleast a dozen people trying to pick up/drop off truck with one guy on the cash, another guy cleaning trucks and one guy RUNNING around trying to move trucks out of the way, organize this and help people. It was so chaotic and just a big flaw in management. At the end and beginning of each month you will need more staff because more people are moving, the expectation for these 3 kids was ridiculous.lisa L.
I reserved a trailer for thr 30th of September. Uhaul called me the day before to confirm but they had NO trailers available from Kelowna to Salmon Arm. I had to wait until the 3rd to get one. What is the point of reserving when they don't keep them? This was so inconvenient that I had to stay 4 extra days in a place I had to move out of. I was told that if Uhaul cancels on.me then they are to offer their customers 50,00 $ which I was not offered. I am not impressed!BONNIE W.

Location was greatâ€¦. Interior windows of the vehicle were very dirty and smeared. Could barely see through the front window and the side view mirrors were so smeared you couldn't see anything. A real safety risk. Very disappointed in the response I got from the agent when I dropped the truck off after my rental. Not sure I would rent from you again.THOMAS K.

At time of pick up it took roughly 40 minutes to complete paperwork--perhaps computer issues but way too long. At time of drop off I arrived at approx 9:10 am and was told that there was an extra charge of approx 10 $for not dropping off at 7am when the doors don't open until 9am? Have more than 2 agents working on a Friday or Saturday. Or in generalâ€¦have more than 2 agents working month end moving time. I had a 12:00pm pick up and had 3 people infront of me, to which there was ONE agent dealing with a mix up with a rental and no one else around to help keep the line moving. By the time the 2nd person came out, there was another 3-4 people lined up behind me. 1) Staff put an extra lock in my storage unit even when the monthly rent was being withdrawn from my credit card every month 2) The excuse was that I did not have a proper lock in my unit, although the lock we used was a uHaul branded and recommended lock 3) When I complained about this I was informed that they had left a telephone message advising me to change the lock to a round style lock to get in line with security guidelines 4) When we rented the unit those locks were out of stock and on the recommendation of the staff at the time we used an alternative uHaul lock 5) I was unable to change the lock even if I wanted to because I was in Calgary at the time of the message and I would not have spent 550 $for a trip to Kelowna just to change the lock. 6) I had a very poor experience with your staff this time not only because of this, but because uHaul had messed up my trailer reservation for Monday, September 27 and given me notice just a day before that my trailer was a 4X8 instead of the 5X8 I had reserved in August. Your staff was not very helpful in trying to redress this poor planning on the part of uHaul blaming the central scheduling unit of uHaul for this poor treatmentCarlos S. | Expérience générale
Second time within a week we needed to rent a trailer. I reserved at Enterprise Way. I receive an email to encourage to preregister online and when I started it said I reserved from Old Okanagan Hwy location. I called and spoke two representatives and was told they didn't have the trailer and that we had to pick it up here. OK. The morning of pick up as we are travelling from Kamloops I receive an email that pick up is at Enterpise Way. This has now added one hour to our start of day! I had reserved an appliance dolley that was not available and was told first come first served when it comes to the dolleys. Don't understand why you offer to reserve if this is the case. The trailer had a lot of gravel in it which we had to clean out because we were moving furniture. I would like the rental charges credited to my account. Merci.MEGAN J.

I stood in line for over half an hour (understanding that it's hard to get employees right now) I was told there was an issue that they could t help me until I figured it out. I will avoid using Uhual even again. Worst company I've ever dealt with. To clarify, staff were friendly and tried to help within their limited means. I was rented a vehicle storage stall that wasn't even available as it was covered in construction debris. I walked around and around trying to find my spot, not a single person available to help me. Finally another customer helped me out. I did finally find a staff member to help me but he was reluctant to do so (but still friendly once we started walking and talking). Got my stall switched to one that was actually available. Then I needed to refund a storage lock I had just purchased as it wasn't required. Not sure why I wasn't told that when I was purchasing it. The same staff member tried to refund the lock but did not have the authority to do so. Asked manager to come and help but manager refused to do so. Told staff to have me leave the lock and it would get refunded - it never did. I called the call centre numerous times. They tried to help and emailed Uhual asking Uhaul to call me. No one ever contacted me. Worst experience ever. I will never recommend this company for vehicle storage. I have movers on the clock, so I need to get going for when I book for; every minute costs me. I called the general call center to prebook my uhaul,the guy was great! However when I got to the Enterprise location nothing that I set up was honored. I could barely understand the guy at the desk,he took forever and told me I had to bring the uhaul back to that location which was not the original plan,he did give me 30 extra km or so he said but that was only because i told him i would not pay extra as I already called and set it up to avoid situations like this..the guy didn't even acknowledge me when i got to the counter. There were line ups and people were clearly frustrated. I heard they changed the schedule on someone else beside me that was actually travelling a long distance. The young men working here seemed very disorganized and had no ambition whatsoever.Charity S.

Booked the storage online 2 weeks in advance. Showed up at the facility at 6:45pm with my load of belongings. I was informed that Uhaul in Canada doesn't accept the online bookings. It was confirmed, so what is that all about? Not good. Thankfully, there was a space available. However! I was told I couldn't unload because they were closing in 15 mins, although it's secure with a code etc. There I am with a rented trailer that had to be back that night, my hired help and a storage space I couldn't access. We took our boat out of storage in June. We waited in line to let the staff know and were told "the billing system is down" but assured our account would be closed. We were charged for storage again in July. We went in and spoke to a "manager" who apologized and told us it would be rectified that day. We were charged again in August. Again, we went in and met a different manager who apologized, told us there was a lot of staff turnover but assured us we would receive a refund that day. We were charged again in September. We went into the location yesterday and met with Cale - he handled the situation on the spot, provided us with receipts for the refund of the overcharged amounts. I found the irst staff member at the counter; seemed like he wasn't interested in helping us at first. This is when we first acquired the unit. The facility is lovely. Everything is brand new and has plenty of space. A complaint I have is that every time I used the bathroom, it was always dirty with garbage overflow, dirty floors and toilet & the sink always had gross stuff in it. Also only having 1 bathroom for a facility that size is ludicrous!! At the very least there should be a washroom on every floor. The times I'd gone to my unit there was a young woman pushing a cleaning cart, yet I seen her spending more time texting and talking on her phone then pushing a broom. Regarding access to the facility, it should be a 24 hour availability. There's already security in place so why not have 24 hour accessibility. However I've had interactions with the manager who is extremely nice and accommodating. Online, U Haul central and local counter systems are not coordinated well enough for efficient service. Several simple misunderstandings with the locker, length of rental, hours open, no direct line to contact the upcoming rental lication makes the process total chaos and costly foe UHaul and the the customers. This location has horrible customer service, very unclear hours of operation and the laziest staff I have ever encountered. I highly recommend NOT GOING HERE! Either this facility was often understaffed, staff were nit trained or managed well or Management simply did not care, the response times to serve a customer were slow, the bathroom facilities were normally disgusting and garbage in and around storage areas were noticeable and left out. As well, the drive through entrance and exit did not function well or were often out of service. Access hours are unreasonable. Elavator in bad need of programming, doesnt stay open long enough. And is not set properly Level on second floor. I would think Hydrolic leak which is not properly fixed. Alarm's are not programmed properly. ( I go and open my locker, Close it and open again and Alarm goes off. Not Very Good at all. Alarms Go off all the time making it redudant, and useless. Nobody cares about alarms. They should be turned on only at night-time and a Security Officer should come not staff. Air Conditioning was not on at the srcond level making it unbearable this last week. And some of my antique Collection was littered with debris from maintenece cutting holes in the ceilling from leakage repairs. I have photo's to prove. The manager was very helpfull though. Lengthy line up due to only one staff member "present" at the desks, entry drive in door for loading was inoperable due to circumstances - which is fine - however this was not explained while at the desk - had to find alternate route on my own which ate up quite a bit of time. On day two of move in the elevator was down - which again is fine - however there is only one set of stairs that lead to the upstairs...??? No secondary elevator?? No second set of stairs? No estimate on when the repairs were going to be performed or completed. Furthermore, lots of individuals disregarding face masks - no staff to enforce mandatory mask guidelines. Lastly, they've so far charged me for my pre-authorized amount for my van rental, however, I used significantly less kilometers than I had estimated. Renting a truck is easy and convenient but storage with uhaul is not. It's overpriced, the access hours are inaccurate, the elevator and bathroom were gross, and they double charged my boyfriends credit card for his storage unit and then locked him out of it anyways(for apparently not paying). It took an hour to get someone to come down to unlock it while we were trying to move. Staff were friendly but they're clearly understaffed. Every single time we've gone to get something from our units in the 3 months we rented for, either the gate was locked early or the floors were being polished so we were denied access to our specific units. I don't know why they need to polish the floors so often but don't clean the elevator or bathroom. We pay close to 200 $EACH for our units and to be locked out 2 hours early after driving half an hour to our belongings is disappointing and frustrating. We can't even call to see if we would have access because it takes an hour long hold to reach someone at the store. Access clearly says online 5am to 10pm but gate was locked at 8pm, sometimes even 7pm. Truly disappointing 3 months.Bailey T. | Expérience générale

Guy at the counter clearly didn't want to be there. A young guy said he hurt his back and the manager decided to ignore the line up for a half hour while he filled out an incident report. Instead of just telling the younger man to sit and wait for hit while he saw to a couple of the customers he decided to make the customers sit and wait instead, at least one of who left. After Andrew left the Kelowna Enterprise way location everything went down hill and fast. A middle aged bald man who does hitch installs seemed to run the show. He was late rude and just started taking things way. Like my access remote which i PAY FOR MONTHLY. He just walked up one morning a demanded it. No explanation. Just an absolute jerk. His hygiene was poor and he RARELY WAS SEEN WITH A MASK ON. You could see his facial herpes as he demanded my access remote control. I frequently saw him sneaking cigarette breaks everytime he would issue a trailer rental. Just and awful man. He was short with my fiancée. We were very loyal customers. Were is the key word and we and encouraging everyone to move out of uhaul before they are abused too. The younger staff were quite accommodating and helpful. They deserve good treatment and praise. I inquired and told I would get a free month because I wanted to stay with uhaul and move my belongings to port moody location. Port moody would not honor it and your location would not give me the free month instead. It was noted on my file and still no employee would honor it. I was told it was for a free truck rental and not the unit. I however know this to false as I have also had a conversation with them at the call center. A representative was supposed to.call me last week and did not. I was mislead and lied to about the free month. I decided to just move my stuff to a different company's storage. I feel I should get my free month reimbursed. Second on a more serious note. I have informed health canada about your employees disregard of the mandated mask rules. First time I entered, I stood in line for 5 minutes or so. 3 gentlemen had no mask on, an employee in a red shirt, just had his mouth covered and was talking to another person on the other side of the glass, that seemed like an employee off duty doing some inquiring of his own with his mask off. I politely mentioned the masks, they all gave me an excuses of different reasons then put them on. I mentioned it was mandated and they agreed to that statement and apologized. Not acceptable from a national company. I cleaned out my locker and entered again to inform them and one of the same guys had his mask off again. I am sure corporate will find this highly unacceptable. Please discuss and set mandated orders at your facility. This letter is meant to not only state my grievance, but also to serve a a respectable reminder to please ask and demand your employees follow mandated health guidelines. We had issues with this facility from the beginning. One member of the staff initially refused to honor the one free month with a truck rental because we were renting two units after renting two trucks. He finally relented. After a poor review the manager contacted us and offered us a free month to make up for the hassles. New management came in and we had to fight again for that free month. We were told the new manager would call us. Two days went by and no call. Called again and were told manager would call us. No call ever came so we had to go in to the facility to make sure the free month was actually in place. When we moved out the young man behind the desk looked like he wanted to be anywhere but where he was and he had his earphones in and was tuning into his phone/music before he finished the transaction (receipt was printing). No one said "thanks for being a customer/using our services" or "we appreciate your business." I would never recommend this facilty to anyone. Go to Rutland - 1606 Findlay Road - where the staff are friendly, helpful and make you feel good about using the services. Our movers ended up having to haul all our belongings from the storage down the stairs yesterday because the floors were being waxed. Do that on off hours. How ridiculous. For two years in a row now I have been told I had storage for my boat. As I go to bring my boat in they say that my reservation confirmation was no good as the manager had just given ours places away. The fact that I got it resolved after hours of working on it myself and pushing the staff to get something done. Shows a lack of management and organizational skills. I feel that head office or corporate or whoever may have given all our spots away dealt with the customers extremely inappropriately. I believe for all the inconveniences and the sheer lack of trust your company shows. That they would give some kind of gratification or credit to the customer like myself. I am happy to be in the storage unit with my boat but by far had to work very hard to get it. The staff that was on site and Kelowna worked very hard to try and help me out.
