The customer service at the pick up location was terrible. They were playing loud trap music, every employee was obviously stoned out of their minds and I sat alone in the building for almost 10 minutes until someone came back to help me and then after kind of helping me they spent another 5 minutes making me wait while they failed to find a highlighter. It was tragic. Whole place reeked like weed too. Might as well had smoked a blunt in the store. Already told all my friends and family to never go to that spot

The vehicle I reserved was double booked, so I had to get a different one which was available pretty much all day. The one I reserved was only available at a certain time. Just a complete waste of my time. Do better with reservations and the people you hire.

LEOPOLD GWhile I recognize that Taj is a dedicated employee, I was disappointed to find that there was only one desk employee available during a busy Saturday afternoon. As a result, I had to wait in line for 30 minutes despite having prebooked a U-Haul truck, which is not acceptable. This experience left me feeling frustrated, and I hope that measures can be taken to improve service during peak times in the future.

DONALD HFor Pick Up: There were 4/5 people waiting in the "store" area before anyone came to attend to us. There's a sign on the plexiglass indicating that someone is there they're just in the back/outside. On my turn to the counter the app the company uses to upload my photo upon pick up didn't work on either "company phone." That took about 10 minutes to figure out and the manager had to in override that so he can move on to process the rental. I tell the manager I'm only going to use 7 miles. He says he has to put at least 10 miles in the computer. I tell him I'll only be a few hours. He processes the contract for 24 hours. I get told it's the one van as I look out the window & he points to it. I go to inspect the van by walking around it. I get in and tried to get it started and the key didn't go into the ignition. It was not the right one. I look carefully at the key and see that there is a number on it. I had to go find the correct van by looking at the number on the key. Rather then go in and tell the manager that he was wrong about the van he pointed to. I go into the van where that the key matches the # on the van. As I inspect - The passenger seat next to mine has a lot of cat hair. I took a photo for my records. When I get to my first location - my friend that was helping me move is allergic to cat hair but I didn't have time to go back to get another vehicle. So I had to deal with that as a delay. For Drop Off: I wasn't told where park it when I bring it back. I park it in the parking spot where I picked it up from. I get told I have to move the van over to the side of the building where drop off is and that there should be someone there. I notice 2 other guys just hanging out & chatting. They look like they might be people that work there but I walk out to move the van. As I'm looking for the person that's supposed to be cleaning the vehicles - there is no one around. WhileI'm walking all the way to the back of the facility & back up to the van I'm returning I'm looking into each truck & van. I noticed that there is a van right in front of the one I'm dropping off with the keys in the ignition and the engine is running. I proceed to leave my keys in the van I was turning in and walk back into the store to let the manager know that there's no one out there. I'm told that the person must be out there or inside cleaning it or possibly inside, in the back, getting supplies to clean & that it should be fine. Mind you, the two other guys in the store look like they work there and they are still just chatting and hanging out. I left a little concerned that the van I had turned back in would also be running and that they would also charge my van for gas that I did not use. I know I Only used the van for 6,7 miles less than what I told then I would. I used GPS to know exactly my route. LOOKING AT MY RECEIPT: SURE ENOUGH when I look at the receipt I see that they charged me 2 gallons of gas that was likely used up while they let the engine run while they were "cleaning" it. Now I have driven cargo vans before so I know they don't use 3,5 miles per gallon. I go on to the U-Haul website where it states that a van takes 18 mph gallon. I only drove less than seven miles. And I was charged for 2 gallons (!?!) that they likely had turned on like the vehicle that was parked in front of mine with the engine running. Why do I have to pay for the engine running while a person is cleaning it? What kind of scam are they running here with charging for gas while it's running in the parking lot after it's been turned in? IT'S NOT RIGHT! It was my FIRST AND FOR SURE MY LAST experience with this U-Haul for sure. I have photos of the dashboard from pickup and drop off. Also, The receipt they sent me says I drove 7 miles. Somebody needs to make it make sense. I drove 7 miles. Using 2 gallons would make it that I drove 30-36 miles depending on load. I DIDN'T AND I WANT MY HARD EARNED MONEY BACK. *Re-posted on Google with photos since no was to do that here.

This branch didn't answer their phone for over an hour (during business hours) and I was held captive being responsible for the truck and I couldn't turn it in because it said that truck was still on the lot. At the end of an exhausting day it was the last thing I needed.

JULIE MFirst, it was my fault for renting a motorcycle bing truck at the end of the month. There were a couple of issues with the truck, the check engine light kept going on then going off, then on the dash board it kept saying that I needed to tighten the gas cap, which I did several times and lastly the dashboard would flash that the drivers side door was open, as I was driving. It didn't matter how many times or how hard I closed the door it kept happening. The whole time I was driving the truck I never felt safe, I drove it a total of 26 miles and just returned it a day early and called my friend who owns a truck to help me with the remainder of my things.

DARREN RWorst U-Haul experience ever. Was provided a dirty truck with pet hair and debris on seats. The truck was not full and the very element I was confused about the guage and calibration is what I was charged for 7 dollars. I placed $25 worth of gas where the chart stated on contract said I would need 4 gallons. I placed 5 gallons and the needle on gage did not move. I pumped to 7 gallons and the needle still did not move yet I was charged for having one gallon less. They should have given me a full tank to begin with . I would like a refund for the unprofessional discourteous, condescending manager for not explaining clearly and not filling up the truck and for giving me a dirty truck with pet hair and dander and debris.

MICHAEL AThe parking lot, in particular the equipment drop off pad, is riddled with rusty screws, nails and other implements of destruction. In a brief walk from the driver's side door to the trailer which I was returning, yielded 10 screws/ nails/ fasteners. The employee to which I was returning to, and made mention that for a tire focused business, this seemed dodgy. He didn't care in the least and was dismissive of the entire encounter. I am reminded, for the second time why I will choose and other location than here. Improve? Sweep? Get a magnet?

The issue is that we made a reservation, and received confirmation that the reservation was booked. There was NO / ZERO further communication from UHaul. When I showed up at the location where the equipment had been confirmed to be available, I was told that our rental was available at a different location, 20 minutes in the opposite direction from where we needed to be. On a recent prior rental, when I tried to get particular equipment at a specific location, the system informed me it was not available and gave me many opportunities to choose other locations, or different equipment, or both. This worked well, because I had a say in what I rented, where it was available, and timing. In this most recent rental, there was no communication that there was an issue, and therefore no opportunity to do anything that met MY needs. Very disappointed in how the process went.

JEFFREY DThe Truck was not clean, but I was able to remove the dirt stains. I am more concerned about the movers. I contracted with that department for two movers, and I called in the payment, but I have received no confirmation from that department. I had some issues with them. They only worked for two hours. From 2:30 to 4:30 PM and I hope I was not charged on my credit card for more than two hours. Please note I would not work with either of the older men. There was a young man that came around 3pm to help load the truck at 86 Johnson St. When they finished loading he asked me to submit the code for them to get paid. I told him I could not do that till they unloaded the truck at 409 Doat St. They acted like they did know this was a load and unload. When we got to Doat the young man and the other guy unloaded the truck. I asked the older guy why he was just standing around and he told me he had called the younger man (20-23 years old) to help, because he was not feeling well, so He did nothing. Jose P | Expérience généraleI tried to explain to the clerk that the mileage I was "allowed" was not going to be enough due to two factors. The most direct route is mountains and steep curves, along with truck speed limits of 20mph (route 153 and 970). By going 30 miles "out of the way", I would save about 20 minutes, and a lot of wear and tear on the brakes. Secondly, I was picking up the truck, 20 miles from my point of origin, and dropping it off 20 miles from my destination. When I rented previously in Niagara Falls, they adjusted the miles accordingly. Since he could not adjust the mileage, it cost me more money. Also, when I made my reservation, I had selected the insurance offered. When I picked up the truck, he claimed I did not. When I tried to show him my original reservation, he said it was not showing on his screen. Between the insurance and additional mileage, almost $100 more than my reservation.

Hannah WThe manager at this site needs better customer care because he is rude. I have dealt with other staff there and they are much nicer than this guy. For example I rented a van in July this year and he told me to face him because he was going to take my picture. I asked why and he just pointed to notices posted around the store. It wouldn't have killed him to explain to me why he was taking my picture. That same rental, I had rented the van for 24h. I returned the van 15mins before the due time and dropped the keys in the key drop box and left. It looks like they did not pick up the keys until the following day and they charged me for an extra day. When I called to ask about this, he put me on hold for more than 2h and never came back to the call. There are a few things they should do: 1. When a person rents a car, explain to the customer all the steps - how to return the car and where to park the car when you return it. It is not obvious that there is a designated area to park vehicles when you return them. Unless they tell me where to park the truck, my intuition is to park it in the same area I picked. 2. They should put clear signage that shows where to park vehicles when you return them 3. They should explain the app option return each time a renter rents a vehicle. How am I supposed to just know these things? It is the responsibility of Uhaul to make sure customers are well informed about policies and procedures - every time a customer rents a vehicle. 4.They should also explain the different mileage charges. For example, when I was booked the truck online, it was saying $0,89/mile. But when I got the invoice, it said $1,09/mile (or something close to that). Thankfully, this was a different staff (not the rude manager). Even this guy had not explained the why the higher milage. But as we were trying to estimate how many miles we were likely to use the truck and how much he was going to put on hold on my credit card, he mentioned that because it is Friday, the rate is higher. Communicating with customers helps. If this manager does not like communicating with customers, he should make the rental completely self-service like what was happening during COVID.

I asked if I would get access and he said if it's not working the next time I come he'd give me a new one. He gave me instructions on how to access the unit and how to move the furniture up. I told him that I had a free lock and he said ok it's there. When the movers came to meet me I forgot what the employee said about how to retrieve the furniture once we were up on the third floor. One of the movers went to get clarity and he was rude stating "I already told her". Yes, he had told me however it was cold, and raining plus my first time being there, and I wanted to make sure I had the details right before going up to the third floor as there wasn't an elevator for us. We get up to the third floor and figure out how to get the furniture, they move it into the unit and there isn't a lock in there. So I had to go back down to the store and then back up to the third level. All he had to do was give it to me when I first mentioned it in the store at the beginning of our encounter. Overall, my experience was okay. It would've been great had he not been preoccupied with his phone and rude with each conversation.

My storage unit was a 4x4x4 upper unit and the ladder was always scattered and was a pain to move and load in. The unit itself is also not worth $50 a month. I was able to find a much bigger unit, almost triple the space, with a differn't company for only $86 here in buffalo. A unit of that size was going to cost me about $140/month at Uhaul. Staff was helpful, but your units are very overpriced for what you are getting.

He is extremely condescending and abrasive in his tone. He blatanly lied to me and told me that he didn't have any storage units available. I went to another location and was informed that there were in fact other units available at the Main St location. Tajh also took it as far as to completely skip helping me and attempt to help another customer when I was obviously next in line. When I spoke up about Tajh deciding to skip me he claimed he didn't see me, which made absolutely no sense considering that I was standing right in front of him. I plan to speak with Todd S and write a letter to your corporate headquarters in the very near future regarding my experience. Tajh has absolutely no business managing a customer service based environment. I would be surprised if this complaint is the first of it's nature the company has received regarding Tajh.

Timothy H | Réservationthe issue i have with Uhaul storage is the $15 late fee. I recieved emails and letters clearly stating that it would be waived if i sign up for auto pay. i did and was told by the mgr no to waiving it
