I never used U-Haul until last year. I am a total convert! I have rented numerous vehicles of various sizes. The employees suggest anything to make moving and storage more convenient for the customer. I cannot state how convenient this company has made difficult moving experiences easier. Everything was great from renting to drop off. In particular was the really good service provided by Gabriel, or Gabe as he told me to call him, who was the customer service person who rented me the van. He was very knowledgeable, took care of my rental in about 5 minutes, and, as I found out, has a great personality and great interaction with the customer. The best compliment I can give him is that if I had a small business and needed a customer service rep to interact with public, I would try to hire him away from U-Haul.DAVID C.

There were individuals waiting outside soliciting moving services but smelled heavily of marijuana. A decent wait time inside as two associates were working through some issue on the computer. The van and actual rental process was fine. I rented a 9' van for a grand total of three miles and was charged 1 gallon of gas for it...DAVID Y.

This was hands down THE BEST Uhaul experience I have ever had! I rented a Uhaul and everyone (literally everyone) that I encountered that worked there were so kind and amazing. The process was so easy and smooth and all items I needed were available. I would highly recommend this location!Sybil W.
On the morning before pick-up I received a telephone call from a U-Haul representative informing me that the equipment I had reserved could not be picked up from this location, and that I must collect it at your Takoma Park, MD location, on New Hampshire Boulevard. So, at the appointed time, I drove 20 additional minutes to that location, only to be greeted with puzzlement and confusion, and was informed that no such equipment was available at that location. The customer service person very helpfully called the original pickup location and confirmed that yes, indeed, the reserved equipment was at that location, and so I was instructed to drive back, another 20 minutes, to the original pick-up location and voila! There was the reserved truck. I was, thankfully, able to complete the check-out process relatively quickly, but I cannot understand how your systems are so completely screwed up like that (see also equipment rental in Cumberland, MD - a total nightmare). I think you need to some SERIOUS audits of your systems, processes, training and overall customer support before I will be fooled into trusting U-Haul again.Paul B.

This truck never should have been issued. The steering shook at all speeds like it was badly in need of an alignment and the transmission wouldn't downshift appropriately after braking, racing up around 3000 rpm. To have to drive this truck for six hours was the worst UHaul experience I've ever had.Rebecca M.

Was given incorrect information at pick up and drop off by well-intended U-Haul staff. Was double charged for fuel, after explaining to staff that parking on a steep incline changed the full gage reading to full. Location reading on the app. did not work. I'm comfortable with technology, but find the U-Haul still a work-in-progress. Disappointing overall experience.Bruce C.

Train customer support staff to have better knowledge on the inventory and website details when inquiries come in OR have the staff at the location place a courtesy call when equipment won't be available so it isn't a guessing game for your customers. Waited 30 minutes in line to get the keys to the truck. There was an additional line of about 8 people behind me and I could hear others complaing.. Fix your return process. If i scan the qr code on the door, dont force me to provide a gps location. If i take a picture of the mileage and then cant get to the page to upload it because the gps location wont work properly, dont tell me to take another picture because the last one was taken 5 minutes ago and its too old now, after my keys have already been put in the drop box. And im left with no way to return the vehicle without calling customer support at 1130pm. Also, fill the washer fluid tank and replace the wipers. Its spring, there is pollen and rain, and i cant see anything through the windshield. Very dangerous.Todd C.

Was charged for a storage when I had in my reservation to get 30 days free since I had a one way. In addition, there is a sign out by a major road displaying, one month free how can I be charged? It's a special too. He never apologized he didn't explain who I am getting my money back, no apology nothing. I wanted a larger unit he just said there were none. I think he said it because the line was getting longer and he did not want to look which...he didn't. And on top I received a very strained up unit. Poor service he provided. The unit was infested with mice. When I gathered my furniture to move out it was covered in mouse droppings and urine. When I raised the issue with the attendant he said there was nothing they could do and said they were not responsible. Clearly there were issues pre-existing as I see there are traps everywhere. Staff need to be retrained or replaced because they are very curt, and don't know how to speak to customers in a respectful or welcoming manner. The wait at the counter was two long in both instances and they kept walking away without acknowledging me or explaining why I was left standing there. I was assigned a unit with a used/smeared sticky trap in it, which made me very concerned about rodents. To enter the loading dock I have to enter my code on both keypads but consistently there's a problem; my code works perfectly on the first keypad, then I'm denied access on the second one. The parking at the loading dock there is a disaster; it's frustrating, chaotic and dangerous. I'm glad about the air conditioning; that's it. I could rarely find a parking space in the back of the building where you load in and unload things from storage. Al the spaces where often used to park large U.-Haul trucks which made it very difficult to particularly load or unload heavy boxes or larger items. It is difficult to get close to entry doors to the storage area because of all of the trucks parked at the facility. I found it annoying that the sliding doors were often locked even during facility office hours, and I needed to track down a staff member to use the sliding doors. It was also frustrating that the sliding doors were locked outside of office hours. I had a dining room table I wanted to store at 6 pm on a Sunday and I had to wait until 7 am the next day to store it because the sliding doors were locked during regular access hours.Joshua M. | Expérience générale
