The morning crew that provided a vehicle to me was great -- organized, quick, and efficient. The afternoon crew that was working when I returned the vehicle was the opposite. They couldn't be bothered to check-in the vehicle and seemed to have a lot of excuses about how each delay was someone else's fault.

Although the truck was clean the body damage to the truck was very visible. The alignment on the truck was way of causing the truck to shake as it was driven. The light on the dash board were out causing me to have to use a flash light to check the fuel gauge. The check oil light indicator was on the whole time I had it. Then I was charged more than what we discussed at the store.

All of the staff made sure my order was filled and helped me make sure my iPhone GPS was ready. Plus, I have one lower limb that is disabled. The garage staff found a plastic milk cart that was strong enough to make it so much easier to enter/exit the truck. I will return to this UHAUL again if I ever need this service.

Equipment was in good shape, people were nice. But everything was disorganized. Service was slow, despite having express check in. Incurred extra fees because staff-side preparations (like putting a trailer hitch on a truck, or draping the cover over my UBox) had to occur after I had been rented a vehicle and was on the clock. Did not receive an extra item I had ordered online ( a-$3 mattress cover).

Only one windshield wiper worked on the truck (driver side) and the passenger side mirror was broken, not able to maintain its position at road speed. Neither of these things was detected until I was far away from the rental location. Also, the truck was leased to me with less than a quarter tank of gas. Which meant that I needed to stop almost immediately for gas. All of this led me to believe that UHaul is not really very focused on the user experience.

I went to this branch to pick up my UPod. When I arrived at the agreed time, I was first told I would not be able to pick up my pod at all, then that it was not ready yet. Luckily, the pod had actually been loaded onto a trailer, and that trailer could eventually be hitched to a truck. By the time all of this had played out, about an hour had passed and I was running late for an appointment with a moving helper. In the rush, I forgot to check the mileage listed on the receipt. Unfortunately, that mileage was totally off; I drove the truck from your branch to my new address, 850 Quincy St NW; that's about 5 miles, so about 10 miles total. I was charged for 70 miles. I contacted the store manager and have not received a response a few days later. Of course, I should have checked that when I was given the truck, and didn't which is my fault. Nevertheless, I hope you will understand that I am fairly unhappy with this UHaul experience.

This was one of the worse customer service experiences I've had. I'm not sure what the word limit is for comments but here are a few ideas: if you change the location of someone's U-Boxes, notify them. If payment is required on the front end and I leave after you've said you will give me a discount because of your error, don't charge me the next day. If you quote me for delivery of U-boxes to my home a figure around $100 after I provide you with the address, don't come back after the boxes are full and tell me that it will be thousands of dollars to deliver locally. In short, do something RIGHT next time. For someone else, that is, as I will NOT be using your services again nor recommending you to others. (Final period typed emphatically!)

The service was extremely slow. I had a reservation for a 10 foot truck from 2:45 to 6:45 for an in-city move and arrived at the UHaul location at 2:45 to pick it up. They claimed that my reservation was a one way reservation, that I had changed it from a round trip to a one-way (even though I had not changed it), the truck I was supposed to rent was not there, and I did not leave with a truck until 3:30, 45 minutes after my scheduled pick up time. Although, I still had to return the truck by 6:45 due to this location closing at 7pm. Additionally, there was ample parking in the back of the building and it looked like they were letting people park on the side of the building, but when I asked if I could leave my car there while I rent the truck they told me no and that I had to find street parking during a National baseball home game. When I returned the truck the service was just as slow as when I came to pick it up. I would never rent from this UHaul location again and honestly may not rent from UHaul again in general because of the disorganized and extremely slow service I encountered for this reservation.

Customer service when picking up the can I rented was so good and efficient I kept talking about it all day. It wasn't just good, it was exemplary. It was as if someone from corporate was doing a site visit and everyone was tripping over themselves trying to be friendly and helpful. I've moved about 15 times in my adult life. This, hands down was THE worst experience ever. I was told I needed 5 U-boxes. Ended up needing 7. The people at the location my u-boxes were shipped to were rude, slow, incompetent, condescending. My items got wet and started to mold. I have recommended to everyone I know to not use U-Haul. I know I never will again.

Not once does any employee asks you if you need assistance even if it's clear you have a question. It was not clear where the line was and the queue was on two sides with customers arriving later sometimes being seen first. I had set up an online pickup and the app was stuck in waiting approval. The service agent said she couldn't do anything to help online orders and that I should just stand by the window and wait. She did not offer to call or any assistance despite holding the key to the truck I was renting.

The truck had a hole on the outside of the door where the lock should have been, so if I locked the driver-side door I had to get in through the passenger side. I returned the truck early and got a call the next day asking why I hadn't returned it - they never checked it in! And there's no on-site parking.

I reserved a truck and when I arrived there was significant confusion about what truck was available for me. After almost an hour I got a truck and was on my way to move. When I returned the truck the same day at 7 pm, I was unable to do the self check in because I was given a different truck that what was on my contract. I asked an employee for help and she told me to call customer service and let them know, she was too busy to help me. I called customer service and let them know the situation with my incorrect truck, and the woman assured me that I won't be charged a $20 check in fee. However, I got my final bill last week, and it was double what my estimate was originally, due to the truck being checked in on 9/9 instead of the 9/7 (when I returned the truck).

Slow service, waited in line 15 min, then took another 15 min to complete agreement. Attendant said that the only way to get my drivers license was for her to text me a link and for me to take a picture of the lic and text it back, this took forever. I asked the attendant if she couldn’t just run the license through a reader, like other places do, she said she could not. Though after the fact I noticed that the cardboard the attendant gave me to take the picture on, had written on that the attendant could take the lic of the pictures. When I pointed this out to the attendant, she just shrugged, very unkind on her part. I probably won’t rent here again

There was only one person working at the front at 07:30 in the morning on a Saturday. The customer she was working with had problems, and had to wait in line for half an hour just to be seen. Needs to be more people working at the front during Saturday mornings. People are on tight schedules and have loading docks reserved for only a few hours and other people waiting for them. The employee was great, but needed to be more employees to go faster. The front left tire of the truck was low on air, need to make sure all the tires have good air, and would like to have more than a quarter tank of gas when beginning trip.

Your staff were incredible however they were completely understaffed...only one person running the desk during the rush of Saturday morning. They were so accommodating given the circumstances. I had a reservation at 8:30 but ended up waiting in line from 8:25 to 10am due to the number of folks trying to either get a truck, open their storage area or simply buy a box. Because of the delay I ended up missing my moving window at my building and having to pay extra money. Uhaul should better staff their south Capitol location AND applaud their staff for being so nice, approachable and accommodating

I would probably recommend it to a friend for sheer convenience, but the customer service was not great. We had to wait in line for a while, but someone who had apparently clocked out but was still by the register didn’t acknowledge us, so we didn’t know if we were being ignored by someone working or if we were in the wrong place or what. Then, when I got the keys and was walking to get the van, I asked where to drop the keys and the agent pointed to the hole in the wall. So we run our errand, and the vehicle was great. Smooth drive, low miles, clean. Upon returning, I go to park it. There’s no fence or anything, and it’s relatively dark for a woman by herself in a big city. I go to drop the key in the slot, and then I see it says go to UHaul.com to check out. First, there should really be a /dropoff or something that saves me from having to navigate to the correct page through at least three links. Then, apparently I need to get all these pictures and mileage and whatnot. Would have been nice to be told that by the agent because now I have to walk back over in the dark, take pictures alone between several trucks (who knows who might be around), and then walk back around the building to drop the key. Knowing ahead of time would have saved me a potentially unsafe trip alone in the dark. Just a couple things to consider.

NO AIR CONDITIONING: I was given a truck with no air conditioning. It was very hot and I was completely drained due to no air. I reported it upon return and Desmond verified that it wasn't working and advised me to alert Sabrina. However, while inside completing the storage check out, he advised Sabrina that the air conditioning was not working when I turned the truck in. but said it started working after he drove it and reported it to Sabrina. The air did not work during my move and It was suggested that I speak with the Manager. I am using this evaluation to share my experience and request a discount due to the inconvenience of no air conditioning. I believe that it would have been helpful if the person issuing the truck would have turned on the air prior to my leaving and this issue would have been detected prior to my leaving. With the exception of not having air conditioning, everything else was fine.

Reserved a caravan online (through the app) and called ahead. I still had to wait in line 45 minutes. There were 6 people in front of me and only one register open. The caravan provided was not safe to operate. The tail lights and turn signal were inoperable. Another driver made me aware of this. After returning back to exchange out the vehicle, had to wait another 30 minutes. Overall, spent 1.5 hours trying to secure a vehicle that I had already reserved online.

The movers hired through moving help were horrible on both sides. They both also called and asked for more money. People move a lot in our business and I would definitely recommend that they spend the extra money to go through real professionals. In addition, every time there was an issue it took over an hour on hold with uhaul or moving help and no one ever seemed to have authority/control to make changes. The customer is pretty much on their own.

My experience was fine and the were professional however, the extra fees and taxes were costly. I went in renting for $19 and walked paying $136. I feel like I paid too much especially for a 24hr period. The advertising is very misleading. Can someone explain what the $22 CDW fee is? I only agreed to collision for $11. I returned the van with more gas then I left with so I hope it's not that. So with rental, collision and mileage I expected to pay well under $100.

I don’t know why I need to be charged for additional day, I just reserved for 8 hours. And there is no reason to ask 20 dollars tips for fixing the problem which caused by you guys. I informed Uhaul that my movers would be picking up my Uboxes at 8 am but when my movers called that morning they were told it they couldn't be picked until 10 am. I spent most of the morning on hold with this office trying to figure out what was going on. I subsequently lost my movers and my moving window for my apartment because of this location. Luckily, I found another set of movers for the afternoon but when one of my Uboxes arrived it was still bolted shut. My movers were prepared and were able to remove it, otherwise, it would have been yet another delay. I requested to be contacted by a manager to discuss the situation, but almost a week later I still have heard nothing from Uhaul.

I was very displeased with my u-haul experience. My u -box’s arrived 5 days late and I spent at least two hours on the phone with u-haul getting tossed back and forth from employee to employee. No one I spoke to was knowledgeable on the situation and I would be put on hold for 30+ minutes at a time. I ended up having to rent a u-haul truck and pay more to get my furniture and items so that I wouldn’t have to stay in a hotel anymore. I was not compensated correctly for my troubles either. Overall, this was one of the worst moving experiences I’ve ever had thanks to u-haul.

At drop off I received a strange receipt with zeros for every line of the charges. I was also told I could pay $20 cash for a fuel discrepancy or $35 through the invoice process. Obviously your employees are scamming your customers for cash. I paid the $20 since it was less than the $35.

Mobile pickup is virtually useless and just made our experience harder. I had to upload a photo of my license 4 times before it was accepted, then was made to type all the license information again after already inputting that at the booking. Our assigned cargo van was not in the lot after all of that process, and when we walked around we were told that van was damaged. Everyone who worked there was great and very helpful, but I wish I had never even tried to expedite the process by doing mobile pickup. Conversations with friends showed three others had also had failed mobile pickup experiences.

Equipment should not be stored in the loading dock area. It is incredibly frustrating to find half of the spots filled by trailers and not have access loading dock. Need more carts. $ way too high.
