I rented a truck to go one way from Kentucky to Denver. I then rented a storage unit in Denver. Literally every single part of the trip that involved U-Haul was seamless, easy, and a great experience overall. Review summary: In-person experience with U-Haul: 5 stars Use of U-Haul app: 1 star The onsite U-Haul experience was very good; the equipment was in good condition and pickup was easy. The after-hours equipment drop-off process was not nearly as good solely due to the U-Haul mobile app. Basic features of the app were not functional for me. Specifically, the process of taking a photo of the fuel levels and mileage at time of return would not work in the app. I was able to take the picture, but app would not allow me to progress to the next step after uploading the photo. I have an Android phone and have seen many similar reviews about the app from other users having the same problem. I ended up struggling with the app past my scheduled drop-off time (despite arriving early). Thankfully, after calling customer service, the late drop-off fee was waived. The Ubox was not shipped until AFTER the arrival date, no one realized it hadn't shipped yet. I had to speak to 9 different representatives, hours on hold, transferred to agents in 4 different states who had zero means to help me. One rep actually laughed at me when I explained the situation and how upset I was?? This was the worst experience I've had with a company to date, and this was my small business packed into the ubox and weeks late right before Black Friday costing me my holiday income. I'm never risking Ubox again.meg K.

The key drop is not easily identified from where we leave the vehicles. There was a line of trucks filling up the return area. The UHaul app was buggy and could not complete check-out or check-in on it due to errors with pictures not attaching, or pages not loading. Had to delete the app and just use the website by itself.Arthur P.

We tried out the self-service app which did not indicate that we still needed to pick up the additional items we had rented. It's ultimately my fault for not looking inside the back of the truck. I was afraid I would be charged for the full cost because I did not have them to return. The person I spoke to on the phone was very understanding and explained that I would not be charged for the items. When we returned the truck, the person was friendly and removed the items from our rental transaction. We really appreciate the simple return process and drop lane at this location! The last place we rented from off Buckley was a nightmare to return the rental to (they made my husband back in with a large enclosed trailer multiple times before he got it just perfect).Michael J.

When my ubox was delivered to Davenport, the employee dropping it off did not have the correct equipment to get the ubox all the way onto my driveway. The back bumper of the truck she was sent with began to scrape the driveway if she pulled it any further than barely off of the street. This is not a very steep driveway. In fact, the parking lot that the same box was picked up in was much steeper, however, the employee had a forklift and was able to load with no issue. My ubox was blocking the neighborhood sidewalk, and nearly sticking out into the street. I am not looking for any type of compensation or reply, just asking that the info is passed to management. With the correct equipment, this wouldnt have been an issue.Aaron W.

The representative at the desk was quite rude and unwilling to help. Also the truck seemed to have some mechanical issues, but luckily it made it to the destination okay. Somehow towing my car messed it up and now I have to take it to a mechanic.Clinton C.
Please be cobsiderate and make sure that if a smoker has rented the vehicle, it gets thoroughly cleaned/aired out because this one smelled awful, I almost gagged. The only reason I didn't go back and request an exchange is because it was almost closing time and I was behind on my proyect.MARIA H.

Even though we had to extend several times it wasn't their fault getting all together to try and get this thing done...we are stil having to finish moving a lot of the small stuff. I have a complaint against Darris Flood's customer service that I received when I returned the vehicle. When I first pulled up to the return vehicle he didn't wait on me for a few minutes I had to ask him if he worked here then he heading toward me to assist. Secondly, he over charged me. , I stopped and got gas twice to ensure that the vehicle had the correct amount of gas. He didn't say the gas was short or anything he had a smirk on his face.?! He then promised to email the receipt to me which he never did. That really made he unsatisfied! I called the store and they did go out and look at the fuel level and adjusted the gas charge.. The only complaint I have is that I walked into the U-Haul office on November 1st (the day my rent was paid through auto pay) and asked the following… "if I rent a truck from U-Haul today and clear out my storage today, will I get any money back on my rent that had just been paid for the entire month of November?" I was EXTREMELY disappointed to find out that I would not get anything back. I think that is ridiculous and unacceptable. At a minimum, I should have been given at least 1/2 a month back, knowing that you will likely re-rent that unit w/in 2 weeks. I was beyond disappointed in U-Haul as a company as a result. My family has spent quite a bit of money at U-Haul over the past year, and this situation will cause me/us to think twice and find alternate options the next time I need a truck or storage. This review is for U-Haul corporate, nothing against the employees at this location. The app is horrible, doesn't work well, very clunky, I always have to enter my information multiple times. I've rented U-Haul dozens of times over the years, yet it still requires me to submit drivers license and re-submit personal info with blank forms, and this time, asked me to send my wife a reference request. SAVE THAT IN YOUR SYSTEMS PLEASE, tap into auto fill, Face ID, create a secure database, do something from this decade. I tried to check out the van with mobile pickup, couldn't find the van, had to ask, it was hidden behind a storage facility with absolutely no signage or way finding on where the â€œpickupâ€ area was. The only signage was for returning trucks, but only if you came in through the back entrance. The mobile pickup wouldn't load, so I sat inside for 15 minutes staring at a blank screen. I thought it might be bad cell service, so I connected to U-Haul WiFi (that part was easy, nice job), but it still wouldn't load. I had to use MOBILE CHECK IN THROUGH MY IPHONE BROWSER!!! The whole point of mobile check in and native apps is not to have to use a browser, this was very annoying and clunky experience. Once I finally got checked in, I had to go back inside for the key. Every other service I use (Getaround, Turoâ€¦etc.) the key is stored in the vehicle, and vehicles are equipped with remote tracking and override technology. This would have saved move time from having to walk back inside to the counter for the key. It's not really mobile check in if I have to go inside! U-Haul is lucky it has vans and trucks so available and close to me, because if there was any other competition I would be gone in a heartbeat due to the poorly designed customer and user experience. U-Haul has some serious brand equity that it's quickly losing with poor design. I only recommend this location because of its truck availability and the kind, hard working employees, not because I enjoy the current state of the company experience. It's technology is dysfunctional like Comcast circa 2010.Dennis M.
I will never use Uhaul ever again and I'm warning everyone I know not to use this company. I had an awful experience, moving is usually stressful and Uhaul made it 100x more stressful than it should have been. My Uboxes arrived 2 weeks late which is hilarious because they advertise a â€œguaranteed delivery dateâ€ which was pushed back 3 times. I noticed on the reservation portal that my uboxes weren't shipped when they said they would so I called to make sure they were on their way. The person I spoke with said they should be in transit and will arrive on time and I would have received a phone call if there was a hold up. I had a bad feeling that something wasn't right but decided to trust that they were on their way. I even received a confirmation call two days later about my delivery window time. Well on the morning of the original delivery date I was pleasantly informed the uboxes hadn't even LEFT the original location, just as I had suspected. No one could give me a reason why they were so late or why they were sitting for so long. The lack of communication with this company is the worst I've ever experienced. They offer a 50 $/day refund for every day they were late which does not make up for the added stress and not knowing where in transit my stuff was, especially when other companies offer a higher refund. I desperately wish I would have paid the extra money to go with the other company I was looking into using. And on top of it all, because my boxes were so late they charged me a 112,79 $ room rental fee per box. I am in the process of getting that refunded but it was certainly the icing on the cake to an already incredibly annoying and stressful experience. I will be honest and say that most of the people in customer service that I spoke with (and it was a lot) were very friendly. I received a lot of â€œI don't knowâ€ answers which highlights the poor lack of communication within the company, not necessarily the customer services' fault but highly frustrating when I want to know where my belongings are and if they're safe and no one has a clue. I HIGHLY recommend spending the extra money and using another company, I certainly wish I did and I learned my lesson.jill B.

Your in house people are great, but in over an hour and a half, I could not access your web sight to do a late drop off. Then I called and was on hold for over an hour before I got to talk to a real person. I called the next day and found out that the truck had been checked in, though they couldn't tell me the final charge. Four days out, I still have not heard from U-Haul by call or email. The personal and service was first rate, the follow up? Not so much. After being on hold for an hour plus on the phone, I concluded that you need to hire a few more people to man the phones.ROBERT D.

Drop off was a nightmare; they put it on gravel knowing that it could become uneven and thus difficult to close. I had no idea that would be an issue when I designated the drop-off spot. I would expect the expert to guide me on that. When I called to tell them the door wouldn't close they told me I was on my own because they had a full schedule. I had to go out and buy an actual car jack to get the door to close. This was after three hours of trying to use shims and cantilevers. I was lucky my stuff wasn't stolen. I will never use this service again because there are no contingencies when things go wrong. And customer service in Aurora was absolutely no help. She was just condescending to me. Do Not use Uhaul in Justin TX on HWY 156â€¦.ðŸ˜¡ Why, read on!!! Ok so I am the type of person who Always tries to be polite and work things out when there is a problem and when there is no resolve I just drop it & walk away BUT this MUST be saidâ€¦. Long story as short as I canâ€¦ GM:Julie Burel at the Uhaul on 156 was Rude, dishonest and accused me of lying to her about our storage space rental. We initially rented a 27 ft truck to move my sisters things from CO to TX. First, they lost our reservation. 2nd we ran around to 3 places to pick up a truck that was nowhere to be found. Then finally was issued a 20ft truck & an 8 ft trailer. Which was Not ideal but we had to fit all the items in. Then was charged 800 $more than the reservation that they lost ðŸ˜¡ We were told that there would be a month free with each piece of equipment. So 2 months free. This was confirmed by her counter employee when the truck & trailer was returned. Today we went to place a few more items in the storage unit and there was a Red note on it saying we're Locked out due to no paymentâ€¦.. the truck was returned on Oct 1st so it's Not even been 1 month. I asked why and she proceeded to tell me it has on the wrong kind of lock ðŸ¤" So we got the approximate lock and then proceeds to tell me that the FREE unit will be up on Nov 1 and not Dec 1. Then says we will owe 135 $vs the 99 $that was told to us when we unloaded. Paperwork states this but she told me Sorry her employees were new and gave wrong info and would NOT honor. Since when is it ok to treat customers so poorly and change the terms of the agreementâ€¦. ðŸ˜© Please DO NOT use this location to rent, return equipment or store your belongs. There are SO many other storage facilities near us that I encourage you to choose!! Okâ€¦ Rant complete ðŸ˜¡ðŸ¤ðŸ«Elizabeth B.

This location was EXCELLENT for a UHaul location. That doesn't mean it was excellent in the real world. As compared to other UHaul locations this place was the best ever but that's only because every other location I've been to was the worst experience I've ever had attempting to purchase anything for any amount.TIMOTHY V.
The one issue I have is also a pet peev of mine. I did not get the email confirmation that I was promised for the drop off and the completion of the contract. This is an issue with rental car drop offs where the lack of a receipt means I can't submit the expense report and there is a risk that the company will come back to me later for a bill. U-Haul did the same for me here. I would like to see the company give me a paper receipt at drop off in addition to the email receipt.SHASHANK G.
I cannot think of any improvements for the next customer. I find the U-Haul staff at this location to provide you with quality customer service from the time you pick up the truck until the time you return it. They thoroughly explain your Equipment Contract to you before you leave with the rental truck. I would recommend this location to others but they need to come to their own final decision.Elizabeth W.

I made a reservation for a trailer on 10/14 for 10/16/21 & I picked it up at 7am on 10/16 and had to give additional information that could have been given at the time of the reservation. Since your store is so busy Saturday mornings, I think it would save you time to get all the necessary information when the reservation is made.STEVEN M.
I thought all paperwork had been accomplished on line and the only thing to do was pick up trailer. Wrong. Had to do the paperwork all over again, including destination address and phone number that I did not have with me. What should have taken 15 minutes took about an hour and a half. Andrea is a very pleasant and helpful manager. The others team members were attentive and friendly. The young man that explained and showed me how things work was knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. The facility was clean. There were not enough rolling carts to go around and luckily the person next to us was just finishing up with his cart. The elevator stopped working and should be checked.
