The truck smelled so strongly of cigarettes it almost made me sick. Despite returning the truck before closing, they made me use the after hours check in and key drop. The next day, they charged me for “damage from a decal gash for 300 $even though I paid for the SafeMove protection that claims to cover scratches, dents, paint chips, etc. Funny there was nothing wrong with it when I returned it at 7pm. It took until the next morning at 11 for this “damage” to appear. These people rent beat up nasty trucks and then add bogus charges to your bill. Learn from my mistake. Rent somewhere else.

Agent told us fuel tank was fule and it showed full on the contract. We only drove 13 miles and when we filled tank, it took 8 gallons at cost of over 22 $. As these trucks (17ft) get approximately 10 miles to the gallon, for 13 miles we could not have used more than a gallon and 1/2 of gas. Evidently, the gas tank was not full as they told us it was when we picked it up. When we reported this, they told us too bad, we agreed to the terms of what we saw on dashboard--the odometer, not gas tank. They finally agreed to reimburse us 10 $of the 22 $. So we paid for the prior renter's gas. The agents were argumentative and nasty and would not agree that 8 gallons of gas for 13 miles obviously meant the gas tank gauge was incorrect, as was their contract where it stated gas tank was full.

Took a long time to check-in. The agent interrupted rental process numerous times, because they were not familiar with computer software, and had to ask for help. Agent asked for my driver's license 4-times AFTER she had already taken photographs of it. 6 inch fingernails most unprofessional.

The check in process took entirely too long. We booked at a time that would allow for traffic or other delays but did not figure it would take almost an hour to check in and then, have to fuel up because the truck needed gas. That is unacceptable. I looked at installing the app but seeing the average review is 1,9 did not offer much hope of being any better. There has got to be a better method to process customers that have reservations to get in and out much faster. There were three associates working so a dedicated line for those with reservations would be a start.

Moving Dolly was detached when I picked up the truck and I explained it to the guy when I returned the truck, and tried to show him a picture I had taken in the parking lot before leaving with the truck. He still charged me 7 $for it. Unprofessional.

I'm not sure why we do online check-in as that information was not used for my check-in. Check-in is extremely slow and only one person working the lot knew how to attach a trailer to my truck. The guy in charge outside was deferring to one of his workers to put the trailer on correctly.

I made a reservation on line for the Kenner, LA location to be picked up at 11:00. At about 9:00 I was called and told they did not have a trailer, even though I had a confirmed reservation. He said that as long as the person before me has not picked up their trailer, it shows that they are available. That is a poor system. He moved me to the New Orleans site on Tulane. I called to have my pickup time moved to 1:00 and Dujuan (UHaul Rep) said he moved me to 1:30 to give me more time. When I got to the store, the time had not been moved. I also had to provide a second phone number as a contact and they have to call and verify the number is valid. I've never had that much of a background check to rent a trailer. This is also the second time that I have had issues with reservations. I understand that there are issues due to Hurricane Ida recovery but my company rented from Penske during the storm and had much better customer service. I will be looking at other companies in the future to compare and see if they do better. BTW - the Kenner store has been very helpful - he bailed out the LaPlace store when they could not provide a trailer and at least he called me when he realized he would not have a trailer. If I do rent from you again, I will go there but I skeptical since your reservation system seems to be broken.

I scheduled my pick up for 10 am and the van was NOT ready until 12,5pm. That is unacceptable and when I asked the lady to solve the problem she said, with very bad manners, that it is not their fault if people fo not return vans when they need to. It is though, uhaul's fault not to have additional vans in case this happens. And the behavior of the woman was totally rude and unacceptable.

The only comment I have is the wait time checking in. Customers who rent vehicles and rent storage units are all in the same line. Makes checkout harder.

Turn in was quick and efficient. Had no problems Large facility although the No Left turn rule in New Orleans makes it a challenge to navigate with a trailer sometimes. Nothing U-Haul can do about that.

Provide them with a vehicle that is properly maintained and remains operational. When, at the outset, the customer requests a vehicle exchange due to concerns with the vehicle's difficulty starting, exchange the vehicle. Don't blame the customer and yell at them when they visit the location to discuss the situation. Don't charge the customer for gas used when the vehicle breaks down and requires towing (meaning the customer could obviously not fill the tank).

Absolutely the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Carl, who must not need a job judging by the way he treats the customers, was one of the rudest people I've ever come across, if not the rudest. It was topped off after I checked in online and approached the side counter to get my keys, as instructed on the check in screen, and he stopped me and asked what I was doing. I told him and showed him the screen on my phone and he told me I needed to wait in line like all the other customers. I read to him where it literally said no need to wait in line and responds with “I don't care what it says, I'm telling you that you need to get in line.” I'm normally not one to bite my tongue but I did and waited in line for 25 minutes to get my keys. What was the point of checking in online? I will never use or recommend that location to anyone.

Had a reservation for 10:15am ended up finishing the check out at 11:00am because the staff took forever. I was told to bring the truck on time because another client was scheduled to get that truck at that time. I shortened one hour and had to rush back so I wouldn't mess another person like I was and when I arrived there were over ten trucks there and not a single person waiting for them. Worst experience ever! Now I will be forced to get another truck because I wasn't able to finish. Thanks a lot!!!

This location's customer service is horrible. I equate it to one of the circles of hell in Dante's inferno. The only thing worse than my experience at this location was the fact that That there is an option online to rent from a location that hasn't been around for at least five years.

Not prepared for international customers. You need to accept international credit cards via online payment with international address and international cell phones (whatsapp active or sms active.. or email communication). Toll RFID should be included for toll payment, without including excesive administration fees (like happened to us). Also differentiate between gasoline and Diesel vehicles.

When changing over ownership about a year and a half ago, within 10 minutes someone backed a U-haul truck into my car and caved in the driver door. The reception was unhelpful and said they could not check security cameras and I was given a contact number to call. No one answered this number or responded to my voicemails. I assume that it was the business that backed the truck into my car, it cost me a 500 $deductible. I would in no way shape or form recommend such a business to anyone.

I am giving excellent because the staff was very pleasant and helpful. I do have a problem because in the description of the storage unit it said 5xx8x10 and it is not that it is 5x8 at the front but it drops down to 4 or 3 foot. I really needed a storage unit as advertised. I will need to get into the storage unit often. I do not want to have to go and have to remove everything or close to everything just to get items out and put it all back just have to take it all out again to put it all back. I did not say anything the day I took possession because I was extremely tired and did not want to lose my temper. I hope that we can work something out because honestly it is misleading and I expect better of U-Haul.
