Cell service is terrible in this part of DC, so I had to go into the store to use their WiFi. Is there any way to safely and securely extend the WiFi into the parking lot for the trucks? I had to keep going in and out of the store to do anything on my phone to access the online check-out system for the truck.DAVIDBRANDON L.
I mentioned I am not sure how long it may take, a hour longer or shorter than scheduled end time. They said to not worry and just bring back when I am finished. This is not necessarily a note for the location, but the mobile check in needs an overhaul. Extremely confusing, and the fact that it forces you to verify with someone outside of yourself while actively trying to check in makes absolutely no sense. We spent 40 min trying to check in and find our vehicle, only to have to receive help from the staff. Then, the truck we were assigned had a broken mirror, prohibiting us from being able to properly drive it.CAROLYN D.

The rental experience was good and we were able to get our work done. What marred the experience was the customer service (wrong term for this person) rep who completed our order. Her attitude and disdain for the customer came through very loud and clear. She wore that attitude as a badge of contempt for the customer for no reason at all. She was arrogant, aggressive to the point where I had to make a remark to her about it. This individual has insecurity issues and compensates through aggression. She has no place working in a customer service position and U-Haul is not well served to have such people in such positions without proper remedial training.RAYMOND D.

Was told to just drop the truck key in a return box without any confirmation or receipt of delivery. The mobile app to verify delivery did not work on my phone but the staff was not responsive when I asked to be sure that the return of my truck would be recorded. Why isn't there a way to return the keys to a person instead of having to use an app?Helen V.
It was a bit unclear how to find the person to help me in the parking lot. Apart from that it was a good experience. The trucks themselves felt a bit old and badly maintained in terms of engine and performance etc but I guess it's not meant to be a BMW!Randolph M.

I walked into the store to inquire about renting a cargo van or pickup and was told there were none available. Only to go outside and see several parked on the lot. So before checking another location, I decided to see if I could reserve one online for this same location and was able to do so quickly. Then while trying to complete the self pickup process online for the cargo van, the response time was longer than I would have liked. Then finally I was asked for contacts for verification. I gave 2 contacts and one wasn't contacted and the other received a phone call but when they answered no one responded. To then be told online verification couldn't be completed so to go into the same store where they just told me they didn't even have any vans to complete the rental. That was a frustrating experience.LATRICE C.

Initial pick up experience was far superior to drop off. Woman at desk was more concerned with her phone then providing any help to customers. The guy at check in was pleasant and seemed to care about his job.SHAUNE J.
The U-Haul location that I picked my truck up from stated that they offered 24/7 pickup. However, when I arrived for my reservation, the app stated that I would have to wait until the retail store would open to pick up my truck. Annoyed, I waited, and upon time to pick up my truck, I approached the employees in the pickup lot to get my keys. Not only did they tell me to bugger off into the retail store, but they were extremely rude about it. Upon talking to the employees inside the store, I was told to meet with the employees outside to get my keys (this was after waiting in a line for about 20 minutes behind 13ish other people who were in the same boat as me). Once I finally got the keys, I noticed that the truck was not fully fueled, and was told that I would have to return the truck full (not a chance I will be doing so given that the whole ordeal made my pickup two hours late. I will have my credit card company charge back if U-Haul decides to charge me for it.) Overall, I had an extremely negative experience, partly because my reservation was not handled for 24/7 pickup as requested, and partly because the employees at this location were extremely rude. I'm sorry, but it's literally your job to check our trucks to customers -- there's no need to get offensive for mistakes that are clearly that of your fellow team members/service location. 4/10 I would not recommend this U-Haul location.Thomas A.

This charge is UNACCEPTABLE and nearly DOUBLE THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT I WAS QUOTED. I decided to rent this truck with the assumption it would be cheaper to move the furniture myself rather than hire someone. It turns out the charge was MORE, AND I had to do the heavy lifting myself. Your fees are extremely misleading, which makes it impossible for the consumer to make well informed decisions. I have been using Uhaul for years and have never ran into any issues like this. I found the online self pick up a little challenging to use. The staff at this location were super helpful and patient with all my questions. The online drop-off was much easier to use, with the QR code to scan that walked you through the steps.JANE BRODIE G.

The personnel: 1. Gave me the wrong truck and kept me at the location for 45 min, this meant that my contract startart at 1230 but I wasn't able to leave the lot until 1:05pm because he gave me the wrong keys 2. He then yelled at me in the lot and screamed to his colleagues to not talk to me or help me and cancel my contract and I was very frightened 3. Charged me twice for two uhauls. I only got one uhaul from 1:05pm to 4:41 pm and you have charged me 153$Gloria P.

Thanks for a very easy and positive experience! It was my first time renting a U-Haul and I was impressed by how affordable and convenient it was. It was easy to book and there were lots of trucks available. When we went to get the truck, the personnel at our pickup location even let us switch to a different sized truck than what we originally ordered when we realized we wanted a smaller one. The add-ins, like a dolly and furniture pads, we're also very affordable. Will definitely rent again, thanks!Emily G.
The mobile process was unclear and cumbersome. If you are renting the vehicle and putting a credit card, why is it necessary to have additional verifications? This is not clearly explained prior to selecting this method for renting so when one arrives to pick up the vehicle you need to scramble to meet this extra requirement for delayed returns. It is easier to rent from the store directly which should not be the case. I strongly suggest revising this and simply putting more security requirements on the credit card as you already do so for not filling up gas tanks or other damages, etc. It makes ZERO sense to burden renters with these last minute documentation and requirements if you ALREADY are putting extra charges on the card. You should require any of this additional information at the time of making the reservation if you select the mobile process as that's when someone can gather all the necessary information, NOT when they are at the parking lot and on a tight timeline to execute their move.ANDRES F.

It was unclear where exactly to drop off the van. All of the entry points into the U-haul location were blocked until I reached the last one. Their instructions were slightly different from U-haul's online instruction.ROXANNE R.

(1) Lend trucks that have some gas in them. My truck was on empty when I got it. (2) At the last minute when I got there, you would not approve me unless I had secondary proof of identity (passport or friend to vouch for me or etc.). I was supposed to return the Uhaul back to this location after hours. The entrance to return the truck was completely blocked, so I had to pull in the exit and park it there (it was also blocked. Don't block the entrances to drop off after hours rentals!!! Also no one from customer service would answer my calls asking if it was ok if I parked where I did. So I had to just hope that parking it there would be fine. Do better Uhaul.JESSE D.

On your website, you suggest using online check in to speed up the process of getting the van. Your website was glitching and the check in process took 40 minutes! I interacted with you office staff twice; getting the unit and closing the unit rental. The staff that assisted me, two different persons, acted like I was "bothering" them. Is not what they said or what they did, it was their attitude. Their tone of voice was like they were mad, like they hated being there. They are the face of your company, the one I prefer for my moving and storage needs. I don't need pleasantries or even greetings; but, I don't need to feel like I'm a burden to you. I'm the customer! It is my first time requiring uhaul services, it was late and it almost close for regular busines hours which compel me to get the "24 hours access service" which by the way I just needed for that particular day the 27th of jul. I needed to storage my stuff on the 27th of jul, so between go and get my stuff and come back, the store would be closed, so the least I would have expected as a some sort of compliment for a new customer would have been to wave the after hour charge for a day, no big deal it is just a thinking, and the to be obligated to buy some specific sort of padlock it is kind of absurd but anyways it is what it is other than that I rate your service average. Had all my stuff moved out of my unit before I was due to be charged for a new month, but office hours were closed so I couldn't formally close out my account until the next day, and I was automatically charged for a full month regardless. I will not be renting a unit from uhaul in the future, nor would I recommend anyone to uhaul due to the uncompromising, all-or-nothing contract and refusal to prorate unused days.Rebecca C. | Expérience générale
