When we picked up our rental George helped us. He was very attentive, professional and answered all of our questions. Unfortunately, we locked the keys in the U-Haul and George called to let us know the next steps. He maintained his professionalism and although we paid Lockout fee I still had a great experience. First truck was completely empty of gas and the back door had a look on it so 8t could not be opened. The red empty light gauge turned on about a mile after I left. I pulled into gas station and saw lock on gate. In a weird way the empty tank lessens the loss of time and headache to me. HOWEVER, when I returned the replacement truck the charged me for 4 gallons of gas and a $30 service claiming tank was 1/8 filled. The pictures I sent prove tank was 1/4 filled. Since I only drove 12 miles round trip and put 2 gallons of gas in - FRAUD and LIES to charge the $30 fee and bill for extra gas is the only explanation. CROOKS and LIARS

I followed the website instruction to try picking up my truck after online reservation. Yet the personnel at store told me the truck wasn't available, after having me waited for 40min, they finally figured out it was a mistake and gave me the key to my truck. The funny thing was that they wasted my 40 min of reserved time and when I returned the truck 10 min late I still got fined. You should train your employees better to understand that customers may not understand what's the different between mobile pickup, online reservation and no contact pick up. I chose for no contact pick up but still got directed by the website to go intro the store to try to get the key, which ended up delayed my move and forced me to stay inside your store for over 40 min.

Moving is incredibly stressful. I arrived near closing. Keyon was patience, professional, proficient and compassionate. As he explained your rules & regulations in a welcoming demeanor. This tactic ensured my compliance. Mr. Keyon worked with another young gentleman (outside) who was equally respectful, proficient & professional. These 2 gentlemen truly understand 'Teamwork'. Customers gave me a truck immediately I start the truck but the truck didn't start I call the staff and told him was laughing at me he try to start it himself again thre truck didn't start. He again me another truck. When I got hom trying to be loading my stuff's the truck went off again for like 32min I was calling them to tell them about the truck no body pick only one guy pick up the phone and said am sorry call uhaul. I was seriously mad. I took the truck in 26 k st NE Washington and I lives in bladensburg Maryland its was one mechanic that help me that day alone the street. And I paid him $70 we spent like another 26mi be he can get it done for me. So since the truck started I didn't off the engine until I returned back to them. Guess what the people change me $114 I ask them what they could said is call uhaul. Please anybody who wanna get a truck dont ever go to 26 k st Ne DC please. Because this is frustrating.

Uhaul's computer software wasn't working properly. Fortunately, the employees at this location were very smart and able to adapt and help customers receive their trucks. Uhaul corporate needs to fix their systems to help their employees by giving them an opportunity to succeed. Their current system hurts the customer.

The app had errors every time i used it. I had to frequently reload and resubmit items each step of the way to avoid errors. I was late showing up, for example, the app simply wouldn't work--but it wouldn't indicate why it wouldn't work. Nothing is more frustrating. The attendant when I dropped off the Uhaul could not have been MORE helpful--he said he'd take care of everything and he did, super efficiently and politely.

The truck was stuck behind another truck, so all my planning went bad having had to go to the actual office, get in line, and finish the process manually. 30 minutes lost, which impacted my moving schedule in my new building. So all the "online check out" didn't work at all. Now, the truck. It had several alert lights on. Issues with the tires and a blinking alert light that who knows what the issue was. Also, the right mirror was broken, so you couldn't adjust the angle. Very dangerous for driving, it was a nightmare. I couldn't just come back to change the truck because I was so late due to your issues giving me a blocked truck that I couldn't move. Also, the paperwork said I had to refill 1/4 of the tank, but the actual reading said 1/8. I ended up filling it almost half, so there it goes, I gave you free gas. In general, dear U-Haul, a very bad experience. Not worth almost $100 for a few hours (and I haven't added, the surprise of going from "Only $19 for renting" to $100. The young lady at the front desk had a terrible attitude as soon as I walked in. She explained that the systems were slow and I was patient but she was rude to me for no reason. Completely unacceptable and I will not be using uHaul in the future.

I visited the K street DC location several times throughout my move and every time had a pleasant experience. The personnel were attentive and helpful. When I returned my vehicle James and Keon helped me out. They went absolutely above and beyond to provide exceptional service and to ensure that all my questions and concerns were answered. The order, pickup, and drop off processes were quick and painless. But I have 2 major complaints. (1) I ordered furniture pads but didn't receive any and was charged for them until I disputed it. (2) All of the email correspondences from the company were addressed to the person whose name was in the driver info (a man) instead of the person whose name was in the online order, contact, and billing info and who picked up the keys in person (me, a woman). I don't know if there is a sexist company-wide policy to address all correspondence to the man even when the woman ordered and paid for everything and picked up the keys, or if this was a one-time mistake. I hope it's the latter.

I rented a 10' box truck that had no tread on the tires. While picking up my freezer, the truck got stuck in the gravel driveway. I tried feverish to get it unstuck but it slide. Needless to say, I had to come out of pocket w/an extra $150 to have a tow truck pull us out! U-haul said the truck was not under warranty and the tow would not be covered because I was on an unpaved area. I thought this was awful and very unprofessional and not to mention unsafe. That vehicle should never have been rented out! I surely didn't run the tread off the tires with a 5 mile ride (if that far). U-haul can kick rocks! Won't use again or refer. And I will be closing my storage unit down too! They can't get anymore of my money.

Check in was a disaster, first I was unable to be verified because I had to provide two additional people. I am new the US and have no one other than my wife I can add at 7am on a Sunday morning. You should tell people to expect this type of thing when checking in.

The ramp was not attached to the truck and it was impossible to use with the dolly. No discount offered for the inconvenience. Even our movers who work with U-Haul regularly said they had never seen a truck ramp like that and tried to fix it themselves but it would not slide under the truck.

The staff was wearing their face masks around their chins, both in the lot and in the store (including the cashier). I understand that there was plexiglass between us, but it had holes. Also he breathed all over the things he then handed to me (pens, receipts, etc.). This is not only inconsiderate and selfish, but also against D.C. regulations. Additionally, I rented online. I was not supposed to have to go inside AT ALL. However the truck that the app assigned to me was parked behind two other vehicles and not ready for me. They acted as if I were the one who was silly to think that when U-Haul said I could pick up without contact that it was true. I wandered around the parking lot looking for the vehicle for over a half hour before anyone offered to assist me.

I didn't seem that the people behind the counter were very customer focused. Making it seems as everything needs to be done by the customer and that it is the customers fault. Whereas the workers could have gone out of their way to make the experience better. For example, not have the customer go park the car go in the store and be told to go park it somewhere else. When you aren't busy and no one is available try to make the customer feel satisfied. Little things can go a long way. It always seems like no one knows the right thing to do there.

The staff was very nice to deal with, but I have a problem with company policy: I got a Uhaul that was almost out of gas because the previous renters had not refilled the tank to 1/4. I did get a 22.50 refund for returning the uhaul at 3/8ths full, but it was frustrating because it slowed me down when I was on pretty tight timeline. Also I over estimated the gas I would need so Uhaul got a little for.free. I think the company policy should be to rent out Uhauls that are filled back the mimimum but the staff, rather than passing the problem along to the next customer. This really soured the experience for me.

I was charged double for my rental because uhaul forgot to put my furniture pads in my truck so I had to come back to the location and get the pads which caused me to return the truck less than 1hr after time to return and charged me for a full extra day as well as a extra day for the fafs. Unbelievable!!!!!

The gentleman at the lot when we returned the truck was exceptionally rude, and when we asked him if he could check us in because we were having trouble with the app, he replied angrily and slammed on the gas of the truck he was in. That was incredibly unsafe because I was standing at the window speaking to him. I will use UHaul again but I would never return to that location. He is dangerous and a liability.

Location, staff, and equipment was great. The mobile check-in experience was ridiculous. Things like providing an alternate contact and uploading your drivers license photo would have been much better done in advance. I walked all the way to the location, tried to check in, spent another 15 minutes filling out forms (when I'd already done the pre-check in) and then had to upload a photo of my drivers license, which is a temporary paper copy as I've recently moved to DC (surely not unusual for U-Haul customers). The agent asked if I had my voided license, I said no (because it is not legally necessary), and then they sent me to a page asking for a photo of my voided license and wouldn't let me contribute. Ridiculous extra requirement. I went inside and checked I there (another 15 minutes, and had to do over because somehow CDW was initially charged despite me declining it) and then I was eventually assigned a vehicle that was triple parked in the lot and completely inaccessible. The very kind attendant who was checking in returns was proactive in helping me find the vehicle and then getting it replaced with one that could actually leave the lot, but that was another 7-10 minutes. All of these problems are frustrating and avoidable.

Well for starters it would be helpful if the truck I reserved was available when I went to pick it up. I have never seen such poor customer service from the two men who were working at your location at the time I came to pick up my truck. I was forced to use a van for my move instead of a 15 foot truck I reserved so my move took twice as long because I had to make multiple trips. I will not be recommending this location or your services

Online check-in didn't work and the line for in-person service was ridiculously long. Despite arriving on time for our pickup, we couldn't receive our vehicle until an hour after the start time. We didn't receive the dollies we reserved, despite being charged for them. The truck was parked in a way that it was blocked in on the lot and the staff was incredibly unhelpful in moving vehicles to let us out. Once in the truck, the rear tire was dangerously low. The location seemed under staffed and disorganized for how busy it was. We won't be using this location again, horrible experience.

When we opened the unit, all of our items were covered with a film of white dust. Something must have fallen from Above. It took A lot of work to clean off our stuff. It was concerning as we don’t know what it was and whether it causes a health risk. The office staff were unhelpful and just said - we should have gotten insurance. Unacceptable!

The staff was very professional, and the manager even went above and beyond to allow me to get in to a unit when I was trying to finish packing and get on the road. Very happy and satisfied.

Wonderful office and staff that have always been there for numerous moves as I've moved kids to DC. Rentals trucks are great and the storage is also great. Nice helpful staff.
