Chibuzo NMy UHaul engine overheated while driving and I was put in a dangerous situation on the side of the highway and had to wait an hour and a half for someone to come check and repair the truck. He confirmed there was NO coolant in the truck and there were no leaks, which means it wasn't safe to be driving. This caused massive delays in my move and then I was charged extra for it.
MARLEY HManager was incredibly rude and aggressive and not helpful in helping answer questions or provide assistance.
JACK SShenita at the front desk and Alvin at check in were both patient and kind as I navigated my first rental in a very long time. Van worked out fine and was much easier and more affordable than I had worried it would be - will definitely rent again soon!!
ROBIN KSpent an HOUR trying to find the key drop off box, even after calling the 24/7 line. The box is located on the opposite side of the dominion energy building. Almost too many uhauls to fit ours in. Terrible experience.

GEOFFREY MAlvin was the staff person who received us upon arrival. He showed us how to access the app on our phones so that check in was very mouth. Very friendly and capable.

MADISON AThe checkin and checkout were separately but similarly awful. I didn't want to do everything on an app and it added so much unnecessary time at the beginning and end. Especially at checkout, it was so unnecessary for me to do everything and take all the pictures when there was an employee there who could have just visually verified everything for me. Waste of my time and unprofessional. The company may be trying to save money on personnel but as a customer I'm clearly not saving any money from the company's cost cutting and unprofessionalism.

Also, for DC locations, the geography of the area means this location could be the most convenient for Virginia/Maryland drivers. There should be some kind of agreement. The check in process took so long that it went 35 minutes into my reservation, which threw off all my other reservations.

Brent OThe windshield was dirty and the windshield washer fluid was empty or not functioning. The app is beyond frustrating to use. I should be able to scan my license when I place the rental order not at the last moment when I am in the dark and it is freezing cold. In fact I loaded my license the last time I rented so I should not have to do it again. And the app implied I just needed to lock the van and drop off the keys. It was only after I left that it got around to loading another window asking for milage and fuel level, etc. Check out ZipCar for a well done app.

ALLEN GEven though there were 3-4 people working behind the counter, none helped me check into the rental, even though I had chosen "Pick up at Counter" when making my reservation. They required I checked in with the U-Haul QR code. There is littler service in the building and it took a very long time to complete this process. Then, when we got to the van finally, there were 3-5 inches of snow all over the van. We had to find a broom and remove all of the snow so we could safely drive. Then, when we tried to start our drive (after taking photos of the van), the tire pressure was low. It took another 10 minutes to have someone fix our tire pressure. When returning the car, we were instructed that we had to use the app to check-in, even though there was a man working. The app is absolutely atrocious, and force quit on me twice. It took over 15 minutes to check the van back in. This was not a good experience at all.

JONATHAN HI don't know where to start - the staff was rude. The front desk wouldn't check me in. She made me use the mobile check-in, which I hate because the process is so bad on a mobile device. I specifically select counter check in when I reserve a truck, because I know how bad the mobile check in is. That didn't matter - she made me do it on my phone and stared at me while I did everything on my and struggled. Every time I had a question she seemed mad that I asked something. Too busy talking to her colleague about getting breakfast and her baby, which was apparently in the showroom storage unit behind her?!? The truck was FILTHY - the interior was covered in a sticky substance, huge holes in the seats, gas cap was broken, visor broken - I could go on forever. Staff on the lot made me go into a storage shed and get the dolly and furniture pads I paid for in advance - didn't bother to help, just pointed me to the shed and told me to get it myself. I've rented from Uhaul for years, and I don't expect a lot, but this was comically bad. I wish I could give negative stars.

Olamide SI was really in a time crunch and had not completed the online process. The manager, female, whose name begins with J assisted me. I was out of there in a few minutes with a truck first in line ready to go. When I came back, the young man in the lot juggled me with another customer. But similar, he was friendly and helpful, and I was out of there in a minute.

Karolyn VRenting a truck for a few hours should be simple. You have gone out of your way to make sure that the process is not simple. Nice people at the desk, but long, drawn out, app infused system, that makes renting a car look like walking across the street. Geographically, your location is convenient. But, because of your uncomfortable process, I will go elsewhere and tell others the same.
DANIEL KNice, clean, easy pickup. BUT, they are charging me &96 for padding I did not request and was never given. I did not ask for or need padding. Pick up was self help, so no one showed me to the truck or opened it up - which would have shown NO PADS WERE IN THE TRUCK. However, Hours after I returned the truck I received the charge for failing to return pads I never received?!.

ROBERT AI did self check-in. It was a little cumbersome and confusing. After doing the mobile check-in and photos, you still have to go to the office to get the keys. The agents were very nice and quick at getting keys, etc. Return was very easy. This location is very convenient! Would definitely rent here again!

I called the night prior to ask if I needed to check in or if they would be in the truck; was assured that they would be in the truck. They were not in the truck. Michael WThe real issue I had was with the charges. What was the $30 fueling fee about? A rental advertised as $355 cost over $500 due to numerous junk fees. Next time I will look harder at alternatives.

Brian FThe 10 foot truck I reserved and confirmed in person the day prior wasn't there when I came for pickup. I had to call the help line and they found me a 15 foot truck (too big for my parking spot but I had to take it). They gave me the code...and it had been put in wrong in the lockbox, so I had to find an employee to open the master lock. It took 45 minutes just to get the wrong truck, and then it had not even a quarter tank of gas and had to be filled up, which is terrifying in downtown DC in a truck way longer than you'd planned on having. So I was late and in the wrong vehicle, which was scary and not what I wanted. I would never use this location again.

I want to also add that the service from everyone that I encounter was top-notch my friend and I were talking about how impress we were because our past experiences haven't great. But this location is doing something right. The staff are amazing.

Sometimes people forget what you supposed to be doing at the U-Haul so yes, I put this score as a reason is because leadership and comprehension and understanding and communication is the key of business and also leadership for business consultant solutions for other business who want to come and use the storage unit as a business or as a customer, it was actually poor but it's OK. I know what to do for now I'm learning my life is new everybody learn something so learning.

The staff that assisted me, two different persons, acted like I was "bothering" them. Is not what they said or what they did, it was their attitude. Their tone of voice was like they were mad, like they hated being there. They are the face of your company, the one I prefer for my moving and storage needs. I don't need pleasantries or even greetings; but, I don't need to feel like I'm a burden to you. I'm the customer! The paying customer. Based on this experience I'll never use U-Haul services in DC.

I needed to storage my stuff on the 27th of jul, so between go and get my stuff and come back, the store would be closed, so the least I would have expected as a some sort of compliment for a new customer would have been to wave the after hour charge for a day, no big deal it is just a thinking, and the to be obligated to buy some specific sort of padlock it is kind of absurd but anyways it is what it is other than that I rate your service average. Customer service? Excellent. Policies? Not very good for customers. My opinion.

I will not be renting a unit from uhaul in the future, nor would I recommend anyone to uhaul due to the uncompromising, all-or-nothing contract and refusal to prorate unused days.

It was concerning as we don't know what it was and whether it causes a health risk. The office staff were unhelpful and just said - we should have gotten insurance. Unacceptable!
