The rental of the vehicle is pretty straightforward, but I'm leaving 1 star because of hidden fees that were not previously disclosed. I rented 10 blankets, used 6 and was informed of a $25 cleaning fee because the blankets weren't folded when I returned the vehicle. I attempted to contact the location but got forwarded to another location without a resolution to the problem. I did double check my contract and T/C document, but nothing was stated about needing to fold linens upon return.Arian A.

Attentiveness is not here! Great looking location but no-one comes to meet you at drop-off. I literally had to watch a man move two pieces of equipment from the drop off area and he simply waved gestured me to follow him (how far I do not know) to another area in back to disconnect. When I picked up the 10 Foot Box Truck, I was in a hurry to get my day started because of the heat. When checking out my truck through a link i was sent via text message, I agreed to the fuel gauge and cleanliness of truck. I should have checked no on the cleanliness as there was minor amounts of dried mud in the cab and in the cargo area, but it was okay with me. What really upset me (and I blame myself for not saying anything when i returned the truck --- as the folks there seemed real busy and they just said leave the key in the truck door). I actually put 6,85 gallons of gas in the truck at a cost of $28,2 and it came all the way up the neck of the gas tank to the point where it wouldn't allow me to put anymore gas in the truck, yet the gas gauge would not move beyond a 3/4 of a tank, when it should have read full. Then this location, after I returned the truck and departed, charged me a 2 gallon fee at a cost of $11.00. Again, I should have went back to dispute this or said something to the U-Haul attendant at the time, but I was tired, hot and just wanted to get the truck back to the U-Haul location and end my day in the extreme heat. As much as I like using U-Haul, nothing ever seems to go smoothly when you're using a vehicle that you really don't know how well it is managed or kept. Something is definitely wrong with that fuel gauge or gasoline tank. On a positive note, when checking out my vehicle, staff is very friendly. I still would recommend this place, I just should have spoken up about the gas issue. basically I donated a several gallons of gasoline to the U-Haul Company. You're welcome!MARK F.

My overall experience with UHAUL was terrible. I rented and paid for a 26 foot truck two moths in advance of moving my household goods from Va to SC. I had sold my home and the new owners were taking possession on 1 August. On my pickup date of July 31, I was sent to a location 30 miles from my home in Fairfax VA only to find that there was no truck at the location and no one working at the location. I called the Northern VA dispatch number to try to understand what went wrong and received no help. I asked to speak to her supervisor and was told he had left for the dayâ€¦yet I could hear him in the background. After demanding to speak to the supervisor once again he finally answered and informed me I would not be able to get a 26 or even a 20 foot truck for 5Days even though I had a guaranteed reservation that day. Eventually I begged the manager at the Chantilly uhaul moving and storage and he allowed me to take a 20 foot truck. However the 20 foot truck wasn't large enough to hold all my furniture and belongings so I asked for again for a 26 foot truck and was denied even though a 26 foot truck was available because the dealership wouldn't allow us to take it out of state. In order to get moved out by 1 Aug I had to rent a 10 foot truck in addition to the 20 foot truck at an additional cost of $1347.00. My wife was forced to leave her car in VA in order to drive the second UHAUL. So I spent more money on two trucks, paid for more gas and have to fly home to pick up our car and drive it to SC. Also my 20 foot truck A/C failed and I drove 11 hours in 95 degrees without A/C. The entire experience was a nightmare. I want to be compensated for my additional costs and inconvenience. I have instructed my Credit Card company to withhold payment on both vehicles until I am contacted by a Uhaul representative with decisional authority to offer compensation for my experience. Person connecting trailer neglected to tighten the hitch ball lock. Thankfully I noticed it before getting on the highway. Picked up trailer at 1:30pm. Returned trailer at 12:20am after hours and it would be available for rental the following morning. Even though I had the trailer for less than 12 hours I was charged for 2 rental periods. Honestly, that is a horrible business practice. I am ranking the location, but I recognize that much of this is corporate policy.KEVIN R.

When I arrived, I had not properly installed the wiring for my trailer. Two gentlemen (I remember one was named Scholar) helped me correct the issue very quickly and get on the road. The the pickup process was a breeze but the drop off there was no one at the green tent and the person behind the counter kept giving me wrong instructions that just wasted time and fuel honestly the last person that I dealt with in regarding to the drop off had a bad customer service skills and I would tell my friends and family to run away from this U-Haul location which I have not even chosen at first my U-Haul reservation got moved to this location which the guy over the phone forgot to mention. I was charged for 98 miles and 2 gallons of gas when I drove 20 and returned the car with the same gas amount as I received it. It's a shame businesses can't be trusted to be honest with a rental. Next time I'll book another companyAna G.
I thought on the return of the truck to the location, service was lacking. What appeared as a 60-yr old man addressing the return - I was in line with 6 other trucks - he was not communicating well NOR was anyone else from the shop helping him. Moreover, the truck - although clean - is a gas guzzler. I drove about 20 miles yet I had to put in about 4 gallons of gas - gimme a break. I only hauled about 250 pounds of cargo. I would like to commend Elsa Cruz for going above and beyond her job responsibilities for making sure that I was able to obtain a rental trailer that I had reserved and making my move experience easier. Uhaul should of told us up front about when you close your unit you don't prorate the rent. We lost 3 weeks of payment. The lines at the counter was always long because there was only 1 person working the register and phone at the same time. I moved out of units 2130 and 2149 on May 12. When the movers were packing me out I went to the office to inform the staff member of my move out. I was told to return later that day when the movers were done and someone would do a walk thru with me. I returned a few hours later and was greeted by a different staff member who did not do a walk thru and told me they would take care of closing out my contracts. Turns out 2130 was closed. 2149 remained open despite the fact I checked the following the day and was told both units were closed. I was charged $143 on May 13 and charged $143 on June 12th. I've been trying over a week now to get refunds and spoke to the General Manager, Richard who said he'd take care of it. He closed 2149 on or around June 14 but only processed a refund for the June charge. The May charge has still not been refunded. I'm very dissatisfied with this situation. Why the first person I spoke to (when I wanted to check out) told me a walk thru was necessary but the second person who was supposed to but did not tells me the staff at the Chantilly location do not follow their own procedures and the result is the situation I'm in. We rented a "drive-up" unit because we have some large and heavy items to store and wanted to drop them out of the truck and directly into the storage unit. We arrived late in the evening only to find that your version of "drive-up is a loading dock. The unit you gave us was at the furthest point away from the loading dock which made it extremely difficult and time consuming to move our items from the truck to the unit. We also found out that the large sliding doors at the dock are locked at 7:00 P.M. which will make moving items after 7:00 P.M. very difficult. Luckily we ran into "Ryan" who stayed after his shift to allow us access to the sliding doors. Major kudo's to Ryan, he was very courteous and understands customer service.
