Reserved an enclosed trailer several weeks in advance. Found out two days before that it wasn't available and i would have to make a three hour round trip to another location. Switched to an alternative, non ideal, open trailer. At the time of pickup the original trailer i reserved was on the lot but i was told it wasn't available. You made a commitment to have a specific vehicle available. You should have made the effort to move the correct trailer to my location as originally agreed upon. Having the wrong trailer cost me a lot of time and hassle.

Unfortunately my reservation was cancelled less than an hour before I was scheduled to pick up the truck. Apparently, ZERO trucks were available, yet my reservation was confirmed. Thankfully, Dan at Chico Uhaul was willing to compensate me for loss time and the Hassel. The staff was wonderful. The online reservation process was less than ideal.

I called to reserve a 10’ truck, which the location did. When I got a confirmation call, there was no 10’ truck available. My choices were a 17’ truck at the time I needed or a cargo van much later. When I checked in and out, there were three 10’ trucks on the lot. The windshield was filthy and the gas tank was a little over half full. The truck barely reached 55 mph on the freeway and was extremely rough to drive.

Although the van smelled like cigarettes when I turned on the heater it was very easy to drive and even have a backup camera! I used the van for 28 hours (I paid for 2 days) they gave me a refund and just charged me for one day. Very friendly staff. Next time I move uhual is the way to go.

I've rented 2 trailers in two weeks, and I've rented quite a few recently. It seems like the service is getting worse each time I go in. There is an employee, a middle-aged man, who prefers not to help customers in any way. Once he told me to move my truck, which was not in the way, only to have a different employee tell me to move it back a few min later. This guy could have taken care of my needs, but he made me move my car and went back down the hall to do nothing. This last time when I was picking up my trailer, the same man was inside on the computer, literally ignoring everything, including customers, and only moved when he realized that he would have to answer the phone instead of the other employee who was already on another call and helping me. He clearly intends to do the least amount possible and acts bothered if he has to do a little more. The service has gotten very slow and redundant. Why do I complete the online check in only to have the EXACT same questions asked when I pick up the equipment? Why do I need to have a pic of my license taken EVERY time I rent? The independent dealers dont do that. Why do I have to wait so long for service when I'm one of two customers and it turns out there are 5 people on duty? I'm going to start using the independent dealers more, because it should not be a huge process and long wait time when business is slow. The dealers seem to know what they are doing better than the actual UHaul employees. Here is one comment that sums it up: I should not know more about the rental equipment than the employees.

When we first called in to rent a truck we were told one was there and available to us. When we went down to this location the older man working treated us like crap. They acted like they had no idea who we were or why we would even ask to rent a truck even though we called in 10 min prior. I understand this area is crazy right now with so many people moving, but there was no reason to be so awful to us when all we said was that we would like to rent a Truck. I called back in to try and reserve a truck for another date because the people at this location basically refused to set a reservation since they didn’t know when they would have a truck available. I spoke to a woman who was completely rude and would give me one word answers like “ok?” after I asked to reserve a truck. I have never felt more like a burden for needing to rent a UHaul for less that 2 hours. When we were finally able to come and pick up a truck the younger man helping us was great, he was quick and made the process easy.

The terminal in Chico, CA was great. The destination U-Haul facility in Beaufort, SC was one of the worst experiences I can ever remember. Talk about trailer-trash caliber of people - obnoxious, rude, uncooperative, uninformed - couldn't get them to call me to discuss scheduling delivery of my 3 containers to my new home because they were so far "in the weeds" with other customers/orders/problems- facility looks like somebody's bad trailer park - their equipment kept breaking down, they didn't have sufficient resources - they engage on other non-U-Haul services - that makes them stretched WAY too thin. Finally, had to hire my own truck and helpers and had to unload ALL 3 of my containers in their work yard to get my possessions back in my care. ABSOLTELY DISGUSTING SERVICE. U-Haul never ceases to amaze me with the caliber of people you are willing to contract with... you really need to find another business and quit jerking the public around. I am a corporate exec - so I know full well the issues of running a decentralized operation. U-Haul is worthless once again.

Hire friendly people that aren't condescending. This is the second time in a row that I have used Uhaul and had a sub par experience. The people that work at Uhaul are assholes. The guy who helped me was an asshole, he showed no interest in helping me, he just wanted to get me out the door. I asked questions and he told me to read about it. He was a dick head and Uhaul sucks ass too, mostly because of your employees.

Very disappointed with my experience. U-Haul confirmed a truck for me and then proceeded to call me later that day after I had planned everything for the move, to say that they didn’t have a truck available. I wasn’t credited for the boxes I didn’t use because they couldn’t find my proof of purchase. Furthermore, I had to pay for this whole ordeal out of pocket, because they wouldn’t accept my family member’s card over the phone/manually. Way to go, U-Haul! Thanks for making my move that much more stressful!

Do not promise and guarantee a vehicle if you don’t have any vehicles. I reserved a truck,I paid for a truck and then not only did they lie...they didn’t call and notify me at all and then told me to go an hour out of my way to pick up another vehicle that was “guaranteed” to be there. No compensation offered no apologies just excuses and rude behavior. The Truck itself was 3hrs late. avoidusing this uhaul at all costs. And if you do make sure the truck you need is physically there. They aren’t too bright and apparently need to learn the definition of “guarantee”The worst experience I’ve ever had with uhaul.

Instead of charging a late fee of $50, charge $100 instead; for instance we had to rent a smaller truck because the previous renters wouldn't return truck until the afternoon (was supposed to be available to us in the early morning). Subsequently, we had to make two round trips with our move. Very difficult day. However, thank you to this Uhaul location for help with ending satisfaction.

I was quoted a 59 dollar rental on Thursday, went into Redding U-Haul to pickup on Sunday. They could not find my quote and they had no trailers. Asked me if I spoke to a woman, which I had. They informed me they do not have any female employees and I must have called the 800 number. I called the 800 number and they could see my information. I was told me to go to Corning to pickup on Monday. They sent me a confirmation for 20 dollars more than I was quoted. Around an hour later I received a call stating they don't have any trailers at Corning and to go to Chico for the trailer pickup. That is a three hour round trip from Redding to Chico and back.The price is now 79 dollars. Gas is over 4 dollars a gallon! I was going to Stockton CA. I finished my day after midnight unloading in the dark. What happened to my quote in the beginning? I spent a lot of time and money running around to pick up a trailer and no mention of my original quote or a discount for my loss time and inconveniences. Poor service and communication U-Haul. I will try another rental company in the future.

I originally ordered an enclosed trailer from another location. For some reason the reservation location was changed and a larger trailer was substituted. We were planning an extended trip and did not want to tow such a large trailer. We downgraded to an open trailer. It rained during our trip home, but fortunately the furniture did not get too wet. It would have been nice to know that the trailer originally ordered was not really available.

Scheduling my rental truck was a bit tricky with the website acting up. Called and spoke to a very kind professional gentleman who apologized and set up my rental over the phone. Online check in was easy the night before. Pick up was not bad, but couldn’t help but notice the cold unfriendly young man setting up my truck. While he didn’t do anything specific to ruin my experience, but could definitely benefit from few courses on customer service. Seemed a bit put out to help me. Maybe he just needed more coffee.. it was early morning. Either way, I would still come back to U-haul in the future.

This was the worst rental experience I have ever had. I reserved online and then got a call that the van was not available at scheduled time and after having to scramble to make that work we discover that they failed to mention they also changed the type of truck and the cost per mile was increased. Very poor business practice and I will be reviewing my experience on social media.

Paying and check-in seems to be a challenge at all U-Hauls. Typing in Credit Card numbers manually rather than using a card reader? Buying small items like tape and boxes, all have to be typed in manually? It backs up the line and makes customers wait. It's not the people behind the counter who cause this, it's the system they have to use. The people behind the counter were great and helpful. The truck was clean and well maintained.

I'm not a fan of the gas thing...why not just charge me enough in the per-mile fee to cover any gas I use and rent them all full.... It seems to be an extra complication for the customer to have to fill it up and hit some mark that is never exactly where it's marked and it makes any maladjusted fuel gauge problematic too. Other than that, I love Bronson and the crew at the Chico office!!!

I was originally scheduled to pick up at “Valero Esplanade” in Chico CA but when I arrived at my scheduled pick up time of 10am (which was the earliest time they open for rentals) the trailer was not even on the lot. The barely English speaking clerk called the person who had it and said it would be in at 10:30. I had already arranged for 2 people to help me with my move at 10 so I had to pay them for standing around. I called UHaul customer service to lodge a complaint about this dealer which was appropriately dealt with. I hope never to use this location again. I would like to see them removed from your list of suppliers. I was rerouted to the location on Country drive in Chico. I was very pleased with all of the process there.

Is there such thing as appliance dollies with bigger wheels & linger plank to move refrigerators down steps? We found little wheels & short plank made it very awkward & scary to us novices. Perhaps ask people what they’re moving & offer something more useful? We ended up destroying the fridge in the moving since kids turned it sideways & upside down.

First time using the online method. Would HIGHLY recommend doing this if you normally stand in line and strongly dislike doing so (and have a smartphone). Everything was pretty smooth once I had the account up, never really had to talk to anyone except to skip ahead of the five people waiting in line to get the key. Showed pertinent info on my phone, as instructed by their site and was handed a key. In and out of the front counter area in about a minute.

I did not discover until my belongings arrived at my destination that there were 3 or 4 items that were damaged due to sloppy packing.....pictures with glass frames were loosely wrapped in one blanket and 3 different wood items were scratched and gouged. So this would be a reflection of the loaders who were subcontracted by UHaul

I was not scheduled to pick up truck from this location. I was scheduled and confirmed and assured that I was picking up on Pearson Road in Paradise. This put a huge delay and extra cost on me. You asked me to rate the location so I gave the Chico location and EXCELLENT rating. As for UHaul.com, because my location pick up was changed from Paradise to Chico, which caused me problems, I give UHaul.com a POOR rating. When UHaul.com called to confirm, I told the Rep that this is not ok and also the pick up time had changed, delaying me 2 hours. When a customer schedules for a certain location and time, UHaul.com needs to do whatever to accommodate the customer and just assume that this is ok. And, the reason I'm saying assume, is because after I had spoke to the Rep and she needed to hang up and call Paradise facility before they closed, and telling me she would call me right back, she never called back. NOT good customer service from UHaul.com.

I went there to rent a one way 15', they refused because it is a one way. I asked for 10' and was given nothing available for one way. They gave me a number to call and I was told that the nearest place to get a truck is at least 50-75 miles away. After some panic since I need to get moving, I went online and was able to reserve a 10'. I understand they do not like to rent a one way, but it is not a good way to do business. I confirmed online because I did not want to the same people again. All that happened within 30-45 min max.

Derek, I think his name was, wouldn’t rent me a truck, claiming they were all reserved. He didn’t even check the computer. Then I simply made a reservation on my phone in front of him, and got the truck. Young, skinny guy. Total dick about it.

The day I came in to reserve a truck there was 2 guys that were working with Andre "a very informative guy." The 2 others were kind of rude to me. The old guy was point blank and harsh the other guy mocked me. The day I picked up my truck was Awesome. You have to know how to rent those trucks or you get scolded. Half of my visit was unpleasant and the other half was great.

WAS CHECKED OUT THE MOMENT I WHNT IN TO PICK UP THE TRUCK DIDNT LEAVE THE LOT TILL APROX 45 MINUTES LATER . BROUGHT THE TRUCK BACK 23 1/2 HOURS EARLY AND WAS CHARGED FOR THE FULL DAY . I HAD ANTICIPATED BEING 2 DAYS SO I SWIDNT GET RIPPED FOR MORTRE THAN THE NORMAL DAY CHARGE. . BUT THAT HAS MADE ME VERY DISCSTED AN I WILL NOT RECOMEND YOU TO ANYONE, IN FACT I WILL TELL EVERYONE HOW YOU RIP PEO[PLE OFF. NEVER PICK UP YOUYEQUIPMENT EARLY AND ALWAYS PLAN FOR THE LZATE RETURN. I rented a trailer to tow a car and I was suppose to bring it back by 6:30 pm. This was fine, but I was meeting a car transport in Sacramento and I asked if they are not on time can I call see if you got anymore trailers in. He said no there are no plans for any other trailers in. So of course the transporter was late so I had to go back to Chico empty handed. When I got back there was another car towing trailer. This made me unhappy I potentially could have stayed in Sacramento longer and I wouldn’t have had to waste all of that gas and the pointless rental of the trailer.

The employees at this location go above and beyond what is expected when renting a Uhaul. We had to make an unexpected move and they were so helpful in getting the truck and they even helped us get movers and found a storage unit that was available that day. Thank you to the wonderful employees at this location. I would highly reccommend them.

When you give a quote after securing a reservation over the phone witch is recorded, don’t go back on your word. I was told over the phone on 3-2-19 that I would pay 157$ for a 10ft truck and tow dolly then on 3-3-19 was told it would cost me 198$ so I made a reservation for the truck and dolly for the 198$ with my credit card then when I showed up to the location to grab the truck and dolly I paid 264$ and was told the 64$ was a deposit and the 198$ would stick Well when I made it to Sacramento to my drop off their was no doposit money back nor could they explain why the price went from 198$ to 264$.

We were not told when we picked up the U-haul that it did not come with a lock, and maybe we didn't read the fine print either... but it was inconvenient to start loading things and then realize we had no way to lock it up. Luckily bought a basic lock at a store nearby.

We called and rented a storage space at the Country Rd U-haul, gave a deposit. We rented a box trailer to pick up furniture that we needed to store but when we asked to see our storage space we were told that the Manager stated to the employee, not to rent out anymore storage spaces. This was a big problem because now we did not have anywhere to drop off the furniture we purchased. When we called U-haul to extend for another 24 hr. she did not want to extend out rental until we told her what happens. We now how the furniture sitting outside covered until we find what to do. We a a victim of the Camp Fire where our Home and Vehicles burnt to the ground. Because of 25,000 homes burnt there are not storage rents available. We did not need the addition stress. To start we had one of the worst U-haul experiences. We picked up our first truck at the Chico U-haul location. 600 Country Drive Chico, CA 95928. After picking up our 20’ truck (contract No: 82389630) we went to fill up the truck with gas. At the gas station while filling up the truck the gas attendant runs over to us yelling stop. The gas tank was leaking fuel everywhere. So we lost $69.22 in gas costs. Next we had to drive the U-haul back to the location to get another truck. We talked to Joseph Massoud and he told us that we would get a refund for the gas when we dropped off the truck at the new location. So we got our new 20’ truck. Three hours behind schedule. We loaded our truck and started our drive to Oregon. We missed our apartment meet up but the management left our keys inside the apartment. We arrived late at night. So we parked our U-Haul and decided to unload it in the morning. The next morning when unloading we started to notice water inside the truck. We had water damage to our some of our stuff. The whole attic was coved in a inch of water. The truck had a massive leak. I had kept all my valuables in the attic where I thought they would be the safest. We had wet computers, couch, bed frames, dressers, etc. I have pictures of our boxes soaked. To add insult to injury when we dropped off the U-haul to the 2380 NE Cornell Rd Hillsboro, Or 97123 location they were short-handed. It took an hour to drop off the U-haul and no manager was present. I told them about the incident and the gas refund and they gave me the manager’s card. I called Tyler Gasper at the location. (2/2/19 at 2:01 pm.) I left a short message and never received at reply. I gave it a week, still nothing. Next I called back the location and they told me Tyler was on vacation and to email Repwest for the claims. Which I did twice due to the site crashing. So I sent them a contact email with our issue. Repwest then emailed me saying I need to go back to the location where we dropped of the truck and talk to them. Time for BBB.org or a lawyer.
