Customer service was horrible and rude and we will never rent from you guys again. Staff made us miss out while fixing there screw ups on the trailer we rented and then charged us another day for making it there 2 minutes after closing after we called them and rushed down there. The staff was very ignorant and oblivious to there rudeness and even got irate with my wife . I will tell everyone I know about this and we buy and sell storage units so we used to go through guys for all our rental needs. Rental guys offer alot more....just to let you know.

The trailers seem to be falling into disrepair, and dont seem to be well maintained/cleaned. The tech had a hard time getting the coupler to work, and when disconnecting, it did not want to lift off of the ball.

Second time used in 30 days and both times bad experience. This recent visit truck I had reserved from 3 weeks ago was sold out. Why make reservations? They did offer me a much bigger truck at same price but had no choice to take it. The bigger truck was an inconvenience but again had no other choice. Staff was apologetic and did their best to accommodate. Still disappointing.

I have used U-Haul many times but this will unfortunately be my last. The U-Haul website will allow to make the reservation then your called and told your going to have to drive to several locations to get your equipment and U-Haul is going to do nothing for the inconvenience. Not to mention how expensive U-Haul is getting to be. Once again I will never use U-Haul again.

The surge brakes on the trailer did not work. We hauled the empty trailer 580 miles to pick up a car because it was 3 x more expensive to rent one way. When we loaded, we soon realized the brakes were not functioning on the trailer. The return trip home loaded was nerve wracking as we drove through LA traffic and crawled with the trucks over the Grapevine and tried to maintain safe distances since our tow vehicle needed to handle all braking needs. When we returned the trailer and told the staff about the problem, they said to call corporate. We told them that they had better repair that trailer before sending it out again. We are very experienced at hauling boats, horses and heavy loads on our flat bed and we know when brakes are bad. We had a powerful and well maintained tow vehicle, so were able to get the job done, but it was very unsafe!

I must say I felt a bit ripped of having to pay for a full extra days rental fee and aso another day of the insurance because I broughtthe truck back 6 hours late. It should have been pro-rated. I will not use uhaul again

This was a terrible moving experience! My reservation was changed 3 times due to a lack of equipment that had been reserved. I eventually ended up taking an in -town truck that was 3 ft smaller than I needed, just so that we could move out within a reasonable amount of time. I ended up having to give away my couch because it didn't fit. I also never got the trailer that I rented to tow my truck , meaning that I had to leave my truck behind at a friend's house, and still need to figure out how to get it to my new house at some point. The truck was old and didn't run smoothly. It was a scary drive. Then my father-in-law had to return it back to Chico, even though we had planned to make a one way trip. I had a terrible experience and will never use Uhaul again! I'm also going to tell everyone I know.

The uhaul reservation experience was easy. I walked in and done. I reserved more than a month before. Then I had three changes of locations over the two weeks prior to pick up. The worst was then being told the morning of pick-up that I couldn’t pick up trailer until 4:30 for my noon reservation when I explained the problem as we needed to load so we could leave early next day I was given no options. When I expressed my frustration and not having a choice, the woman answers, “Well I found you a trailer!” I would hope so since I reserved one. The final straw was stopping by the place I reserved and seeing two trailers there...walking in and getting one. What the heck???!!! Very unorganized. Quotes over the phone were less than actual and when I questioned it, was told “yeah” with a shoulder shrug?? I would hesitate to ever count on uhaul again

My Uhaul smelled like cigarettes and had the check engine light on upon pick up. They key to the vehicle would barely open the doors. It would take 4-5 tries to get the doors to unlock. I then got stuck at the gas station prior to my return yesterday (6/24/19) because the key would not turn the vehicle on. The key was bad, not the vehicle. I was on the phone with customer service and was going to have to get roadside assistance and finally got it to start. The key would not even turn and I was stranded. I then told the attendee about this to prevent this experience from happening to the next person and he did not seem to care and did not state that he would do anything about it. He mentioned that "this must be the one that has trouble" and continued to check me out. In summary, they were aware that this rental had issues, and gave it to me anyway.

My experience was HORRIBLE. The guy at the Chico location was nice and our experience there was fine, so the three stars was for him cleaning up the mess made by customer service somewhere else. We have rented from you guys at least a dozen times and have never been given the ridiculous run-around we were this time. 2 days before we were scheduled to pick up the trailer we rented almost a month ago, we were told it wasn't available and we'd have to drive more than an hour to get one. Finally, after a LONG conversation, the lady found one just 30 minutes from us. Not great, but doable. The day before we were supposed to pick that trailer up, I received ANOTHER call to say that that one wasn't available either. Now, instead of the options 1-1.5 hours away, we could drive 2-3 hours away (each way) to pick one up if we wanted it. WTF?! This is not okay. The day before we leave for a trip we've been planning for months, this is the option we're given - add 5-6 more hours of drive time on our day? We ended up getting a different trailer that was NOT what we needed or wanted and inconvenienced us throughout our trip, but at least it was available here in town. After all that we were not even given a discount or an apology or anything and treated pretty rudely in the second phone call. WORST. EXPERIENCE! You guys have got to figure some things out, because this whole thing was unacceptable.

Reserved an enclosed trailer several weeks in advance. Found out two days before that it wasn't available and i would have to make a three hour round trip to another location. Switched to an alternative, non ideal, open trailer. At the time of pickup the original trailer i reserved was on the lot but i was told it wasn't available. You made a commitment to have a specific vehicle available. You should have made the effort to move the correct trailer to my location as originally agreed upon. Having the wrong trailer cost me a lot of time and hassle.

Unfortunately my reservation was cancelled less than an hour before I was scheduled to pick up the truck. Apparently, ZERO trucks were available, yet my reservation was confirmed. Thankfully, Dan at Chico Uhaul was willing to compensate me for loss time and the Hassel. The staff was wonderful. The online reservation process was less than ideal.

I called to reserve a 10’ truck, which the location did. When I got a confirmation call, there was no 10’ truck available. My choices were a 17’ truck at the time I needed or a cargo van much later. When I checked in and out, there were three 10’ trucks on the lot. The windshield was filthy and the gas tank was a little over half full. The truck barely reached 55 mph on the freeway and was extremely rough to drive.

Although the van smelled like cigarettes when I turned on the heater it was very easy to drive and even have a backup camera! I used the van for 28 hours (I paid for 2 days) they gave me a refund and just charged me for one day. Very friendly staff. Next time I move uhual is the way to go.

I've rented 2 trailers in two weeks, and I've rented quite a few recently. It seems like the service is getting worse each time I go in. There is an employee, a middle-aged man, who prefers not to help customers in any way. Once he told me to move my truck, which was not in the way, only to have a different employee tell me to move it back a few min later. This guy could have taken care of my needs, but he made me move my car and went back down the hall to do nothing. This last time when I was picking up my trailer, the same man was inside on the computer, literally ignoring everything, including customers, and only moved when he realized that he would have to answer the phone instead of the other employee who was already on another call and helping me. He clearly intends to do the least amount possible and acts bothered if he has to do a little more. The service has gotten very slow and redundant. Why do I complete the online check in only to have the EXACT same questions asked when I pick up the equipment? Why do I need to have a pic of my license taken EVERY time I rent? The independent dealers dont do that. Why do I have to wait so long for service when I'm one of two customers and it turns out there are 5 people on duty? I'm going to start using the independent dealers more, because it should not be a huge process and long wait time when business is slow. The dealers seem to know what they are doing better than the actual UHaul employees. Here is one comment that sums it up: I should not know more about the rental equipment than the employees.

When we first called in to rent a truck we were told one was there and available to us. When we went down to this location the older man working treated us like crap. They acted like they had no idea who we were or why we would even ask to rent a truck even though we called in 10 min prior. I understand this area is crazy right now with so many people moving, but there was no reason to be so awful to us when all we said was that we would like to rent a Truck. I called back in to try and reserve a truck for another date because the people at this location basically refused to set a reservation since they didn’t know when they would have a truck available. I spoke to a woman who was completely rude and would give me one word answers like “ok?” after I asked to reserve a truck. I have never felt more like a burden for needing to rent a UHaul for less that 2 hours. When we were finally able to come and pick up a truck the younger man helping us was great, he was quick and made the process easy.

The terminal in Chico, CA was great. The destination U-Haul facility in Beaufort, SC was one of the worst experiences I can ever remember. Talk about trailer-trash caliber of people - obnoxious, rude, uncooperative, uninformed - couldn't get them to call me to discuss scheduling delivery of my 3 containers to my new home because they were so far "in the weeds" with other customers/orders/problems- facility looks like somebody's bad trailer park - their equipment kept breaking down, they didn't have sufficient resources - they engage on other non-U-Haul services - that makes them stretched WAY too thin. Finally, had to hire my own truck and helpers and had to unload ALL 3 of my containers in their work yard to get my possessions back in my care. ABSOLTELY DISGUSTING SERVICE. U-Haul never ceases to amaze me with the caliber of people you are willing to contract with... you really need to find another business and quit jerking the public around. I am a corporate exec - so I know full well the issues of running a decentralized operation. U-Haul is worthless once again.

Hire friendly people that aren't condescending. This is the second time in a row that I have used Uhaul and had a sub par experience. The people that work at Uhaul are assholes. The guy who helped me was an asshole, he showed no interest in helping me, he just wanted to get me out the door. I asked questions and he told me to read about it. He was a dick head and Uhaul sucks ass too, mostly because of your employees.

Very disappointed with my experience. U-Haul confirmed a truck for me and then proceeded to call me later that day after I had planned everything for the move, to say that they didn’t have a truck available. I wasn’t credited for the boxes I didn’t use because they couldn’t find my proof of purchase. Furthermore, I had to pay for this whole ordeal out of pocket, because they wouldn’t accept my family member’s card over the phone/manually. Way to go, U-Haul! Do not promise and guarantee a vehicle if you don’t have any vehicles. I reserved a truck,I paid for a truck and then not only did they lie...they didn’t call and notify me at all and then told me to go an hour out of my way to pick up another vehicle that was “guaranteed” to be there. No compensation offered no apologies just excuses and rude behavior. The Truck itself was 3hrs late. avoidusing this uhaul at all costs. And if you do make sure the truck you need is physically there. They aren’t too bright and apparently need to learn the definition of “guarantee”The worst experience I’ve ever had with uhaul.

Instead of charging a late fee of $50, charge $100 instead; for instance we had to rent a smaller truck because the previous renters wouldn't return truck until the afternoon (was supposed to be available to us in the early morning). Subsequently, we had to make two round trips with our move. Very difficult day. However, thank you to this Uhaul location for help with ending satisfaction.

I was quoted a 59 dollar rental on Thursday, went into Redding U-Haul to pickup on Sunday. They could not find my quote and they had no trailers. Asked me if I spoke to a woman, which I had. They informed me they do not have any female employees and I must have called the 800 number. I called the 800 number and they could see my information. I was told me to go to Corning to pickup on Monday. They sent me a confirmation for 20 dollars more than I was quoted. Around an hour later I received a call stating they don't have any trailers at Corning and to go to Chico for the trailer pickup. That is a three hour round trip from Redding to Chico and back.The price is now 79 dollars. Gas is over 4 dollars a gallon! I was going to Stockton CA. I finished my day after midnight unloading in the dark. What happened to my quote in the beginning? I spent a lot of time and money running around to pick up a trailer and no mention of my original quote or a discount for my loss time and inconveniences. Poor service and communication U-Haul. I will try another rental company in the future.

I originally ordered an enclosed trailer from another location. For some reason the reservation location was changed and a larger trailer was substituted. We were planning an extended trip and did not want to tow such a large trailer. We downgraded to an open trailer. It rained during our trip home, but fortunately the furniture did not get too wet. It would have been nice to know that the trailer originally ordered was not really available.

Scheduling my rental truck was a bit tricky with the website acting up. Called and spoke to a very kind professional gentleman who apologized and set up my rental over the phone. Online check in was easy the night before. Pick up was not bad, but couldn’t help but notice the cold unfriendly young man setting up my truck. While he didn’t do anything specific to ruin my experience, but could definitely benefit from few courses on customer service. Seemed a bit put out to help me. Maybe he just needed more coffee.. it was early morning. Either way, I would still come back to U-haul in the future.

This was the worst rental experience I have ever had. I reserved online and then got a call that the van was not available at scheduled time and after having to scramble to make that work we discover that they failed to mention they also changed the type of truck and the cost per mile was increased. Very poor business practice and I will be reviewing my experience on social media.

Paying and check-in seems to be a challenge at all U-Hauls. Typing in Credit Card numbers manually rather than using a card reader? Buying small items like tape and boxes, all have to be typed in manually? It backs up the line and makes customers wait. It's not the people behind the counter who cause this, it's the system they have to use. The people behind the counter were great and helpful. The truck was clean and well maintained.

The Uhaul was dirty and smelled like marijuana. They charged me 12$ for gas even though I refilled the gas I used.

Customer service was great! Vehicle had one tire with low tire pressure of 26 psi. Drove fine but carrying a heavy load on the bed concerned me. Interior of vehicle was good but had residue of cigars/cigarettes. Overall a great experience with your services! :)
