My experience was HORRIBLE. The guy at the Chico location was nice and our experience there was fine, so the three stars was for him cleaning up the mess made by customer service somewhere else. We have rented from you guys at least a dozen times and have never been given the ridiculous run-around we were this time. 2 days before we were scheduled to pick up the trailer we rented almost a month ago, we were told it wasn't available and we'd have to drive more than an hour to get one. Finally, after a LONG conversation, the lady found one just 30 minutes from us. Not great, but doable. The day before we were supposed to pick that trailer up, I received ANOTHER call to say that that one wasn't available either. Now, instead of the options 1-1.5 hours away, we could drive 2-3 hours away (each way) to pick one up if we wanted it. WTF?! This is not okay. The day before we leave for a trip we've been planning for months, this is the option we're given - add 5-6 more hours of drive time on our day? We ended up getting a different trailer that was NOT what we needed or wanted and inconvenienced us throughout our trip, but at least it was available here in town. After all that we were not even given a discount or an apology or anything and treated pretty rudely in the second phone call. WORST. EXPERIENCE! You guys have got to figure some things out, because this whole thing was unacceptable.

Reserved an enclosed trailer several weeks in advance. Found out two days before that it wasn't available and i would have to make a three hour round trip to another location. Switched to an alternative, non ideal, open trailer. At the time of pickup the original trailer i reserved was on the lot but i was told it wasn't available. You made a commitment to have a specific vehicle available. You should have made the effort to move the correct trailer to my location as originally agreed upon. Having the wrong trailer cost me a lot of time and hassle.

Unfortunately my reservation was cancelled less than an hour before I was scheduled to pick up the truck. Apparently, ZERO trucks were available, yet my reservation was confirmed. Thankfully, Dan at Chico Uhaul was willing to compensate me for loss time and the Hassel. The staff was wonderful. The online reservation process was less than ideal.

I called to reserve a 10’ truck, which the location did. When I got a confirmation call, there was no 10’ truck available. My choices were a 17’ truck at the time I needed or a cargo van much later. When I checked in and out, there were three 10’ trucks on the lot. The windshield was filthy and the gas tank was a little over half full. The truck barely reached 55 mph on the freeway and was extremely rough to drive.

Although the van smelled like cigarettes when I turned on the heater it was very easy to drive and even have a backup camera! I used the van for 28 hours (I paid for 2 days) they gave me a refund and just charged me for one day. Very friendly staff. Next time I move uhual is the way to go.

I've rented 2 trailers in two weeks, and I've rented quite a few recently. It seems like the service is getting worse each time I go in. There is an employee, a middle-aged man, who prefers not to help customers in any way. Once he told me to move my truck, which was not in the way, only to have a different employee tell me to move it back a few min later. This guy could have taken care of my needs, but he made me move my car and went back down the hall to do nothing. This last time when I was picking up my trailer, the same man was inside on the computer, literally ignoring everything, including customers, and only moved when he realized that he would have to answer the phone instead of the other employee who was already on another call and helping me. He clearly intends to do the least amount possible and acts bothered if he has to do a little more. The service has gotten very slow and redundant. Why do I complete the online check in only to have the EXACT same questions asked when I pick up the equipment? Why do I need to have a pic of my license taken EVERY time I rent? The independent dealers dont do that. Why do I have to wait so long for service when I'm one of two customers and it turns out there are 5 people on duty? I'm going to start using the independent dealers more, because it should not be a huge process and long wait time when business is slow. The dealers seem to know what they are doing better than the actual UHaul employees. Here is one comment that sums it up: I should not know more about the rental equipment than the employees.

When we first called in to rent a truck we were told one was there and available to us. When we went down to this location the older man working treated us like crap. They acted like they had no idea who we were or why we would even ask to rent a truck even though we called in 10 min prior. I understand this area is crazy right now with so many people moving, but there was no reason to be so awful to us when all we said was that we would like to rent a Truck. I called back in to try and reserve a truck for another date because the people at this location basically refused to set a reservation since they didn’t know when they would have a truck available. I spoke to a woman who was completely rude and would give me one word answers like “ok?” after I asked to reserve a truck. I have never felt more like a burden for needing to rent a UHaul for less that 2 hours. When we were finally able to come and pick up a truck the younger man helping us was great, he was quick and made the process easy.

Hire friendly people that aren't condescending. This is the second time in a row that I have used Uhaul and had a sub par experience. The people that work at Uhaul are assholes. The guy who helped me was an asshole, he showed no interest in helping me, he just wanted to get me out the door. I asked questions and he told me to read about it. He was a dick head and Uhaul sucks ass too, mostly because of your employees.

Very disappointed with my experience. U-Haul confirmed a truck for me and then proceeded to call me later that day after I had planned everything for the move, to say that they didn’t have a truck available. I wasn’t credited for the boxes I didn’t use because they couldn’t find my proof of purchase. Furthermore, I had to pay for this whole ordeal out of pocket, because they wouldn’t accept my family member’s card over the phone/manually. Way to go, U-Haul! Thanks for making my move that much more stressful!

Do not promise and guarantee a vehicle if you don’t have any vehicles. I reserved a truck,I paid for a truck and then not only did they lie...they didn’t call and notify me at all and then told me to go an hour out of my way to pick up another vehicle that was “guaranteed” to be there. No compensation offered no apologies just excuses and rude behavior. The Truck itself was 3hrs late. avoidusing this uhaul at all costs. And if you do make sure the truck you need is physically there. They aren’t too bright and apparently need to learn the definition of “guarantee”The worst experience I’ve ever had with uhaul.
