You do not tell the customer up front what the actual cost is for the rental. The customer finds out after the rental has been returned. If I knew I was going to be charged additional Cost when returning the rental I would have not rented the truck. when you prompt a customer to use the APP to checkout and pick up a vehicle/equipment ... it SHOULD WORK when they get there... especially if you aren't going to ENSURE they can get the equipment... the computer data base had 20 year old information IN SPITE OF RECENT and CONFIRMED accurate data / information was in the system, weeks prior... price disparity... TRAVELING from MT to VA via train... VA to MT via UHAUL... isn't like hailing a cab in NYC... it takes planning and UHAUL's 'lacking' cost more money in the long run, lack of sleep, mental health and physical well being issues... contacted local law enforcement because UHAUL's shortcomings left me with NO RESOURCES after 2130 in 30 degree temps & dropping... in poorly lit area no protection in a parking lot...luggage and MORE issues of personal safety... WORST EXPERIENCE EVER... if UHAUL has 20+ year old information clearly I have been a customer for a long time, who ALWAYS turns in clean and undamaged vehicles/equipment and I get treated like a junkyard scrap heap owner... Charged $30 for 14 miles. The gas hand never moved. I trusted guy when he was busy and could not complete transaction and got email later with 6 gal $30 charge. i am disputing charge with my bank. i will never leave and trust them again.larry F.
First off, I reserved the truck at a different location on Timberlake and they called me after 8pm which is completely unacceptable. I was spending time with friends and family and it was after acceptable business hours. When I mentioned this the woman was extremely rude stating she had a job to do and I asked what her name was and she hung up. Moving in to this place on Park Ave. I arrived using the truck share app so I didn't have to talk to anyone. Everything was going fine until one of the employees told me I couldn't leave my car by the truck. It wasn't left there as my friend was in it and making sure I was good before they left. It wasn't in a road way or blocking anything. I said we would be leaving in a moment and they said â€œwhatever if you get hit it's not our faultâ€ I finished up on the app and off I went. When I was returning the truck a few hours later I was finishing up on the app and taking the final pictures and the same employee said he would be right with me. I told him I was doing everything on the app and he said â€œwhateverâ€ It's very frustrating to be talked to like this from multiple employees. I'm already dealing with the stress of moving and having to deal with rude and snarky employees just adds to the stress. 0 customer service.Dianne D.

I had to wait to pick my truck up due to an employee being in an car accident and not being able to open the store. This set me behind time about an hour with starting my move. I was charged 4 gallons of gas ($19) after returning the truck but I have a picture proving that the same amount I dropped it off at was what was in there when I picked the truck up. There is no barcode to scan when tryin to check the truck in online dropping it off after hours. Not a good experience at all.Sierra I.

Scheduled to pick key up at 6:30 am. It was suggested that I arrive 10 minutes early so I did. The key was not in the lock box. Therefore I had to wait til a worker arrived to get a key which made me late getting the truck to my apartment where four movers were waiting on me. And they charge $50 an hour a piece. In my attempt to complete the on-line checkin process I receive a message that there was an error so I could not complete checkin. The worker at the office who gave me the key said he would adjust my time and complete the checkin. But I later received a call from him that I needed to come back down to the Uhaul and complete the checkin process since I was not able to complete it on-line. I advised him I had hired four movers and I was paying them and needed to be with them to get everything moved. He later called me back and advised he had taken care of everything. He did extend my return time and I appreciated that. Not a good experience for my first time renting a Uhaul.Pam E.

Vehicle pick up was fine with Dude. Vehicle return was not fine with Dude. He had his ear buds in and when spoken to only replied mumbling with his back to you while walking away. Only when he got behind the counter did he even bother to look at you. For the most part he was unable to communicate with me. He was also mildly distracted by pulling up his pants as his underwear was constantly showing. This was a unique experience. Oh... the van I rented was perfect for moving a NASA person to a new residence at UVA in Charlottesville. I will rent from you again in the future.Paul S.

When I arrived to pick up the van, the app would not work. The store was open but the door was malfunctioning and didn't open correctly. The clerk was nice and helped me eventually get the van, but the process took much longer than it should have. Everything I did online was a waste of my time. Was a horrible experience, but not all of it was the locations fault. I was delayed picking up the truck for 2,5 hours because of everybody else's screw up but who I was taking to. A great deal of finger pointing but no responsibility. It went down hill from there. Get everyone on the same page would help a great deal.Jeremy S.
Manager had an attitude, very rude, my contract said the tank would be full, we went out to the truck and it was on 1/4 tank, when we asked about it the guy said come inside and my manager will get it straight and print another contract, we walked to the door it was locked at ( 4:15 pm), when manager opened the door she made a big production of checking into it and said several times I had an attitude so she would give us another truck, this one had 1/2 tank of gas not a full and was parked so close to another truck couldn't get door open, back door of the truck was open and we couldn't see that because of how were parked. Never again I have no idea how this place is still open, while we were there was a phone call of someone who was very unhappy and she kept putting them on hold and another customer was there complaining about the gas amount no being correct on his bill,Chase C.

Unit had large wire bundle through middle of storage space at about eye level. Staff never attempted to come up with some sort of solution. Eventually I was told there was nothing they could do. Was then asked to open the unit to add MORE wires through it for three days. Brick walls were falling apart and ruined a good portion of my things. Very disappointed in the cost of storage at this location and the condition of the building is terrible. The inside of the truck was soaking wet when I picked it up, which meant I couldn't use it for a large portion of the time I had rented it. Once it dried it was still covered in dirt. I had to purchase shower curtains to lay down so that my belongings did not get dirty. When I rent a vehicle I expect it to be clean and usable from the moment I rent it. staff was very friendly and helpful which is why 2 stars instead of 1. However the facilities were sub-par to other uhaul storage locations and other storage facilities I have used, and at move in I found out the elevator is permanently broken which is NOT covered on the website, fortunately staff was able to move me from the 4th to the 3rd floor but I had to call in 3 friends to help me move in since we had to carry everything up the stairs and my leg is broken and still in a cast. Also there were visible rodent droppings on the stairs and in the building, the storage unit itself had 2 large rat traps taking up space in 2 of the 4 corners, the units are made of plywood and staples coming out and can easily be taken apart to gain entry, not very secure at all. I considered not moving in as planned that day but didn't have much choice due to limited options in the area and needing to move in that day as planned... Also found out my renters insurance doesn't cover rodent damage which is my main concern after looking at the facility, so I had to get the uhaul storage insurance making it even more of an expense than planned. May have to look for a better storage solution ASAP. Not the staffs fault, but absolutely nowhere near the higher quality uhaul experiences I have had when using your services in the past.ZACHARY H. | Premières impressions

Even though mechanical issues may arise in any business, the business should still offer alternative solutions in helping the clients reach their goal. I went in March 2021 with a crew and truck to move out of my unit. Elevator was broken. I asked for alternative solutiins becsuse my crew could only work so many hours. After that I would need Uhauls' help. Nothing. Not even an attempt to resolve CG the matter. All year I moved stuff out of ny unit. Go in March 7th 2022 with crew and truck ty o move completely out. Same thing all over again. When a mention of movers; the communication was not complete. Therefore no resolve. I feel as if I was forced to stay on location for an entire year. The indoor facility is very falsely advertised and if I would have seen the inside before booking I would have taken my business elsewhere. The indoor units are made of cheap material that someone could easily break through with a roof of chicken wire. When I tried to access my unit, my card to get in wasn't working and the manager was annoyed that they had to come in early and help me, but didn't even fix my card just opened the one door and said I better keep that open and left. Lastly, after making the reservation and checking-in in person, they asked me if anyone told me that the elevator was broken. I was never informed about it as I would not have selected the 4th floor unit with a whole house of furniture to move up there. Sadly, I did not have my moving truck long enough to find a new location and move it there so I'm stuck. Thankfully my family was able to help me move in but myself along with all the members of my family that saw the terrible place and experience will ensure to tell people to take their business elsewhere.Sarah A. | Premières impressions

The staff had sprinkled rat killer into my unit from above. And several of my items were stained. And I was also told by call centers, if I had lost my key, someone on site would have bolt cutters. When asked, they said "no, they don't do that". And when I asked to do a final walk thru, while I was there, since I no longer lived in the area, the person in charge looked like she was being put out. I booked a rental unit for this location online, signed the rental agreement paid the fees and received a confirmation with an access code and instructions to my rental unit. I drove all the way from Chattanooga to Lynchburg thinking I have a rental unit, only to come to this location and have to deal with the awful staff. I went into the store to request help, as the access code texted to me was not working. The staff at this location lacked the very basic understanding of customer service - the lady at the counter would not even offer to help or at least start by gathering some basic information from me (name, reservation number, etc) - she kept on saying U-HAUL has a nationwide system failure and they have no units available and that my reservation was an error. She spent more time and energy saying there is nothing she or anyone else can do to help me rather than just take 3 minutes to look up my information. Appalling! A young man with an airpod in his ear chilling in this chair was initially interested in helping me, but lacked even the basic understanding of how an online reservation works. Both of them started to say I need to look for another U-haul location (again neither of them even bothered look up my information). I kept on saying, please help me I drove here all the way from chattanooga, I have a unit reserved here. Unbelievably poor customer service - or should I say no customer service! Disheartened I left and was making calls in the parking lot when the facility manager approached me. She asked for my name and offered to help me. AGAIN, JUST THE FACT THAT THIS MANAGER ASKED FOR MY NAME AND RESERVATION INFORMATION - IT'S A MIRACLE! She looks up my information confirms my reservation, hands me the keys to my unit. I am sure the manager alone can run the whole place by herself and she probably does. But, that not promising, if she was not there or did not happen to see me frustrated in the parking lot, then there was no hope to resolve my issue - the two employees at the counter who were too incompetent to do basic information gathering and problem solving would have caused a much more unsatisfied customer for U-haul. Another note, your lack of employee training (which the manager offered as an excuse for her teams performance is not the customer's problem). You are charging a fee to offer a service - here is a tip - offer the service you charged me for. I picked U-HAUL because it's a national company and comes with certain amount of standardization. My storage unit was on the 4th floor, that was not a problem until the elevator was broke and never got fixed...I got the unit July 2020 and I move out March 2021, the elevator has still moy been fixed, so I had to carry my belongings down 3 flight of steps, it was very tiring and left a very bitter taste in my mouth about Uhaul, I would ask when was the elevator getting fixed and would not get an answer.Katrina C. | Expérience générale
We were leased a 4th floor space, but no one told us the freight elevator was broken. Showed up to check in in preparation for a big moving day where we were going to store several commercial pieces of equipment. Once informed the freight elevator was broken with no estimation of repair date, I was leased a different space with the note that the door was just "hard to open". Later when I came with a truck to unload, I was told that the door was actually off the track and could not be closed! Again, no estimate of when it would be repaired and no other adequately sized units. I was left scrambling with several employees to coordinate to find another storage facility that could get us in immediately. Unbelievable! I must emphasize that the two ladies who helped me were very accommodating and kind and did everything they could. This is a management/ownership problem and they're stuck dealing with the fallout. This is some of the worst service I've ever encountered and I will not be keeping my units here.Myke B. | Premières impressions

I think the age of the property may have some bearing on how clean and well-maintained the indoor storage areas are. The outside storage units were not air-tight and so pests including mice are able to get into them.CONNIE S. | Expérience générale

Had very difficult time both getting u-boxes picked up at the start of rental despite having scheduled time for boxes to be picked up weeks in advance, boxes weren't picked up until following day which would've been even later had I not made several calls. Attempting to retrieve boxes to move into new home was even more difficult with initial request made Sunday was told a 24 hr notice is required so I requested the next business day and didn't plan to pick up until approximately 28 hours later and had kept a rental truck from outside vender for towing these u-boxes specifically. When I called to let them know I would be there in about an hour I was once again told it would be an additional 24 hr notice because they did not have request noted in system and did not offer retrieve recording of conversation that would show I had in fact made the request. Instead I was told it would be yet another day and couldn't be certain it would be within 24 hrs but would rent me a truck (that I had to pay for). The truck was reserved for noon (odd to do when you can't guarantee the boxes would be out of the warehouse by then but I said okay. I realized I would be able to get to uhaul by noon so I called to let them know and was told, "that's fine, you can come whenever, the unboxed haven't been pulled out yet". So I told them I would be there at 6pm. Called again on the way and was told they would take my number and call me back at their earliest convenience, no call back, got there and about 5 staff members were sitting there talking to one another with no other customers and no one on the phone and I find out that they don't have any trucks but it wasn't the right truck for someone who didn't want to unload the box at the store which I had previously told them I did not, spent almost an hour there just to leave without my stuff (all my stuff, beds, etc) with the impression that a truck to haul the unboxes would be reserved for me to pick up at 6pm the next day. I get there at 6pm on WEDNESDAY only to find out that once again, they did not have the correct rentals for me to get the unboxes but would rent me a trailer that holds one of the two boxes which I did cause it was yet another hour in the store and another day with no bed to sleep in. This costing me another trip the next morning cause they wouldn't be there that evening for me to come get the second one. When I got there this morning (Thursday) I had called on the way thinking they would at least have it ready for quick pick up after wasting hours upon hours of my time and me having no bed to sleep on but again sat there for another hour waiting for box to be move out of warehouse, covered with protective cover and put ok trailer. Overall horrible experience and the manager was unapologetic for the significant inconveniences, almost seemed annoyed as if I made gross errors and inconvenienced him.Elizabeth A. | Expérience générale
