When I first rented the storage unit over 2 years ago the lady helped figured out which would be the best unit for me and at the time you had a promo for first month's rent free. Which I thought that was awesome! When I had problems with my debit card Virginia Cooper helped me out. When it was time to get my things out of storage Virginia Cooper and her assistant manager (I wish I would of gotten his name) assisted me with which size moving truck to use. Uhual having a storage units and moving trucks all in the same place was very helpful, but the staff was Extremely helpful each time. I would use again if need be.

RICHARD AU-haul is great, logistics great and price is affordable. I do recomend some time on training employees on how to behave and appropriately assist your customers. Especially ones that have used your services across this nation for generations now. Not so much in my case but keep in mind that most situations that your customers are going through are stressful. Your staff should always be considerate and compassionate. I'm never one to complain and have been a manager for over 20 years and I perform and often bite my lip with customers. With respect, I don't like employees using F bombs among themselves in a business setting and employees that can't be bothered with trying to make my experience prompt and professional . It's a wise guy move to watch on camera, my boss 65 yrold and I look for a truck for several minutes. When in reality, we were handed the wrong keys and wrong plate number. People need to adjust themselves in business settings, its necessary. Importantly, even though no curse was directed towards me, it just puts a bad image on u-haul. We as a country can't afford to loose more business. I always appreciated U-haul. Best regards.

marley c | Premières impressionsTerrible Experience with Faulty Equipment and Careless Management I recently rented a U-Haul from the Groton Gold Star Hwy location, and it turned into an absolute disaster. The latch on the truck's back gate was faulty, failing to lock securely despite my best efforts. While driving, multiple concerned drivers flagged me down to warn me that the gate was wide open, causing items-including my girlfriend's great-grandmother's valuable china-to fall out and shatter. To prevent further loss or a potential highway accident, I had to purchase straps to keep the gate shut, as the truck was clearly unsafe to drive. When I returned the truck and showed the employees the faulty latch, they acknowledged the issue. However, when I contacted the general manager, he dismissed my concerns entirely, blaming me for not locking the gate properly. For context, I've worked as a mover for three summers-I know how to close a U-Haul latch. I paid over $310 for this unsafe rental, plus another $97 to refill the tank, and despite buying insurance, I received no support or compensation for my losses. The lack of responsibility and care from the management was shocking, especially considering the safety risk posed by the truck. I won't be using this location again and recommend that others steer clear.

MARK PEquipment (6x12 trailer) was clean but the lights at first failed to operate. The connection was 'wiggled' and they eventually came on after a few attempts. Lights did operate for the duration of the rental. Needs a new or repaired harness.
Christopher TCharged cleaning fee due to furniture blankets not being folded. This was never communicated to me and the staff could have inspected the vehicle, I would've folded them. Was also charged a missing equipment fee but was never given the equipment by the pickup location. Again if there was an inspection of vehicle or an inventory of equipment taken I could've addressed this. Overall very shady business practices and will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
ROBERT BI make my reservations on-line so I shouldn't be asked questions like "do you want the insurance" or "do you want dollies." I already answered those questions on-line.

MICHAELA CThe trucks need cruise control. Had a minor issue with the 3,5 mm input jack for the radio being loose. I also rented a trailer for my car. The truck was old enough to not have a rear camera, making hooking up the trailer difficult. I had arrived late enough in the day that there was only one person working. He assisted in getting the trailer hooked up. The next day, I returned because I needed to get the safety chains hooked up. Due to bad joints, I couldn't get prone to hook them up. The people there assisted with no hesitation.

I pulled up to the sign that said "return here stay with equipment and an employee will be with you" and I waited....and waited...until an employee finally came over and said "why are you waiting?" I replied "that's what the instructions on the sign say." The employee thought the fact that I read the sign and waited was hilarious. I did not.

DENISE DI dropped the truck off here after hours, so I didn't meet anyone. It was clean though! I don't know if it was the people here that I spoke with or that had control of the information, but my drop off address was changed to the Groton location by several employees at different times and I still got charged for dropping it off at the wrong location (it turned out that despite multiple people changing it to Groton from ledyard, somehow my drop off was set to Hartford); also I asked for a one day extension and was told to drop it off by 10am tuesday morning, and after dropping it off at 2am Tuesday morning, was charged for a two day extension. I'm still working on disputing the incorrect charges
DYLAN SI selected early rental option. The online checkin and lockbox key retrieval did not work for me. Ryan S. took his time to try to get it to work and then checked us in on the computer system before the office officially opened. I am very pleased with his service and professional attitude.

Catherine C | Expérience généraleOriginally I ordered a moving truck from a different location. UHAUL over rode that reservation, and denied my original truck and location. The truck was then forced to be rented 30 miles away from original location which was a logistics problem for assistance for a ride . Truck was brsnd new and exceptional. Truck drop off was at a different agency fhan where I pick up . Which was another logistics problem. UHAUL does not deliver trucks to a better location for customers. In my opinion UHAUL should deliver trucks to whatever location customers require for logistics drop out and pickup. i also feel UHAUL should deliver trucks to customers residential locations as to assist people with moving instead of creating more logistics problems

However, Upon moving my stuff in I realized there is this huge constructive part in my unit that is literally taking up a lot of space prohibiting me from having full use of my unit. It is also having stuff fall off it and this does not make me very happy. Something need to be sorted out as I am not very happy with this space.

JESSE BNice facility with a good selection of rental trucks. Customer service agent Rob treated us well and was efficient. The only thing that threw me off was receiving the truck with 1/4--1/2 tank of fuel. That added a fuel stop at the start instead of at that end. In many ways that was a wash except that I had a timeframe on where I had to be in the morning. Would recommend this UHaul facility to others.
GARY SI was beyond pleased with all the help I received from Virginia Young-Cooper ( Manager) in the Groton CT uhaul storage facility. Virginia was extremely busy with many customers when I was there yesterday. Even with how busy she was, Virginia had above excellent customer service skills and was so helpful! I needed a larger storage unit than I first thought I did, Virginia helped me immediately and found a bigger storage unit for me. Virginia was so pleasant, kind and very resourceful! My children and I are in between moving into our new house. Moving all of our furniture and belongings was stressful enough, but my experience yesterday at Uhaul storage facility with Virginia was truly delightful! Having Virginia's help made my day as a single mother in between moving so much better! Virginia also gave me her contact information so if I had any questions/ concerns too. There's so many companies now a days that don't have employees who have such great customer service skills like Virginia does. Uhaul's website was so convenient and easy for me to navigate & the staff really went above & beyond to help me with all my moving needs! My experience was wonderful yesterday at Uhaul storage in Groton location! It was so clean and smelled so lovely when I first walked into the Groton Uhaul facility. I am so relieved knowing my children and my furniture is all safe and secure at the Groton Uhaul until we move into our new house I will definitely be referring all my family, friends and coworkers to use Uhaul for all their Moving needs! I've never seen customer service skills on such a scale of excellence like Virginia had! Virginia was extremely helpful, friendly and so pleasant with all my moving needs! Thank you so much! The QR code has trouble then you finally get the app and it makes you create an account and then the steps it puts you through glitch out. Using iPhone 14 Pro Max on a 5G network. But yea no shade just recommended u hual updates the truck return process. Thank you. James.
JMES NOrdered/ reserved over a month before needing equipment however what I reserved was not there. The equipment was there but was for local use only. This caused me to have to go to multiple locations to get substitutes that didn't accomplish the job in the same manner.

karen g | Expérience généraleI did a settlement of 200 to take my belongings and they didn't put it in that way so it looks like I made a200 payment..I closed my unit with my settlement so I feel like there a scam the cleaner said if I told him he would only charged me 50 and when I did pay the settlement my lock was already removed so my unit was fine through. Very unprofessional except Gina who was very nice and helped with everything extremely nice young lady. But to charge me and say the balance is 0 then to receive a bill. Yep a scam and I will never recommend this location.

Also, the video should have explained that you have to disarm using the code, and that you need to enter the code in another keypad before you code enter the actual storage unit. It would have also been helpful to know that before you leave, you then need to arm using the code before you leave.
Paulo M | Déménagement en ligneThe Staff was very friendly and helpful, from the time I rented a truck three years ago till I got a storage unit allot cheaper than the Cube Smart unit I was renting previously and their units are climate control which the Cube Smart unit I had wasn't and basically $30 more for Cube Smart unit so I switched my stuff over to the Uhaul storage unit was much happier with Uhaul than Cube Smart ☺️

As a note for a business serving the public, I was surprised by the music being played in the store. While I appreciate an individual's choice in music, if I had my kids with me, I would have had to leave the location because not all the words in one of the songs would be appropriate. Even to the point that one word creates significant racial problems over the history of our country. I would suggest music that is more approved across society.

And I still haven't received a refund to my credit card and didn't get any response back from the facility yet regarding the payment they took out after I asked for my credit card to be deleted from the account so unprofessional !!! All three, in my opinion, went above and beyond. They excelled in their respective positions AND when presented with opportunities to do more-- they did, which was extraordinarily helpful to me. I must also highlight Joanna from the Connecticut traffic office (I believe this was her location). Summer 2023 was my most challenging move yet, and each time I spoke with her, you could almost hear her "heart" through the phone-- and then she found the proper equipment for me, and then she got it to where it needed to be! Above and beyond-- all four of them-- at every step. Please keep up this great work.

Ceceilia M | Expérience généraleI found my entire stay at UHaul uninviting and unpleasant whenever dealing with the office. While one of the first customers in the new building, I initially was not allowed to pick my two units, causing undue stress of my large move-in. This cost me six extra hours of movers fees, not to mention body stress for all dealing with one elevator to the 4th floor. It was just as stressful on my move-out which was a last minute decision, when staff was not willing to prorate my days of Unit use to switch to a smaller one. I then moved out after 4+ years. Staff, including management is rude, arrogant and uncaring to customers needs. The one good woman manager that they had was fired for trying to keep and please customers. There are many occasions when you cannot find any staff to help and have unacceptable wait times. I think this location would thrive with all new staff and management. I would not recommend U-Haul to anyone I know.
