Some counter staff would benefit from slowing down their speech when checking in bookings. All staff I met were friendly and helpful. Merci.
David StaplesThe equipment itself was great. The customer service however upon return was less than satisfactory. About 5 customers came to return their equipment 5-10 mins before closing at 5 and the staff were already shutdown, computers turned off and advise everyone to complete the self returns. I was annoyed and capable to complete this on my phone, however, there was an elderly person their who was really struggling with technology. He asked for help and the staff couldn't be bothered. Very disappointing to see someone couldn't take 3 mins to help out the customers there,

Wade WilliamsI was left feeling ripped off. My total mileage was 19 miles and after paying 11.zx for gas was charged 12.xx as they said the tank was to the level when I took it. This is 23 in gas to go 19 miles. Seems like an extremely poor mileage. I realize I probably should have walked back to the check out area and disputed the small discrepancy in gas . They said 1/2 tank when it was closer to 6/16 of tank. Service rep had no option but to tell me nothing she could do. The measuring of gas is not an exact science but this is just wrong. (23 dollars for 19 miles). I will do my best not to use your service again and I have used it quite frequently in the past .
John ThomsonBe more precise on gas level. Take a picture or something so you can be accurate. Don't be trying to be stingy and charge more for gas when it's been filled up

He makes this process so much easier and thats why I choose to travel out my way to this location whenever I need Uhaul equipment
Paul ChitateUsually, I have had good experiences here, and rent vehicles about once a month. This time, I didn't notice until after I got the truck that there was broken glass and old cigarette butts littered in the truck bed, plus someone left a box of novelty edible crickets under the driver's seat, that startled me when it slid out! I let staff know when I returned the truck.
SAIHRA M KASHMIRIThis was by far the most amazing uhaul experience we've had! We've had to move 13 times in the 10 years we've been together. Today, Aiden helped us above and beyond… I cannot say enough good about him! Every person we dealt with was so kind, amazing to our toddler so very helpful and helped us through the most difficult time we've had in years. The only downside was the manager. She was rude, inconsiderate, dismissive and absolutely should not be in any customer service role. The location is clearly being held together by the wonderful staff and she should be in a less customer intensive role. Seeing the staff multitask so seamlessly was phenomenal.
Leighton WillettI was told at the time I arrived to pick up my truck that a dolly was not available despite having booked one in advance. I was told they were first come first served.. which could have invalidated my ability to move and the need for the truck rental. The result was that the move of items out of a temporary storage locker was longer and more physically difficult. I also found the staff at the site need some lessons in customer service. Empathy is a good start. Sullen aloof does not work for me as you have enough competitors in this market space to lead me to choose another firm. I also noted that none of the protective blankets I had ordered were in the truck. Finally, a truck should not be provided to a customer with under a quarter of a tank of gas. I did not see any provision whereby an overfill that results is credited back to the consumer. My last two experiences with U Haul were great. This last experience was not, unfortunately.
John DickieWell maybe not move slower than paint drying on a fence, when the customer asks about the free storage locker for renting a trailer and they ask for an outside one not just tell them no, because I have a ATV to put in storage so I guess it's going inside other big items type of deal, after the paperwork for the trailer is done maybe have someone hook the trailer up not sit on the phone with a customer for over an hour, and then telling the customer well he can't hook it up till the paperwork for the storage locker is done that has nothing to do with the storage unit and then charge the person for all this extra things because he had to get an inside storage locker, if it's free then all things along with it should be free I feel I got swindled by your customer service attendants this is the worst experience I've had ever I just got off work, I needed to get back home to look after my dogs and didn't get home for almost 10hrs or more give your damn heads a shake, I should get my 30$ back for this inconvenience and misunderstanding by your workers, plus waste my time for another hour when I drop off the trailer and give me another run around the bush

I barely had enough to get me to my location which was 8:00am in Rush hour traffic and a strict timeline The staff were very nice and easy to deal with though

David ThomsonThe friends I came with to help me were amazed by how well maintained and easy to use the facility is and they are considering renting storage as well. I returned my equipment after hours. Delivered the key in the drop box and then started the process to then realize I was locked out of self storage and needed to be in the truck before starting the process because of the mileage. I would like in the future to know this before I am unable to contact anyone. Hahahaha, thanks regardless, I enjoyed the service and how the stuff treated me.

Will hilariously flick through the same screens 10 different times and pretend they are looking at things then declare "THE SYSTEM SAYS YOU NEED PAY 100 DOLLARS NOW" Then they will never refund you anything and fight you on the spot even if you have a $100 gift card
spencer berryHad issues with your reps when bringing back the equipment, outside staff was great your inside staff did not know what they were doing, my invoice is all in french and I cannot read it, they did not give me my deposit back, and did not ask how i wanted to pay for the rental when I returned it, this was the worst experience i have ever had with Uhaul, i only went there because it was the only location that had the trailer I needed.

Donald Pidgeon Pidgeon AucI booked a truck about 10 days before my move online, scheduled for pickup at the Green St. location. When I booked online it said that trucks were available at this location, and there was no problem with my reservation. The day before my move I received a call that the truck might be late arriving to the Green St. location. Not ideal as I had scheduled movers and logistics which had to be postponed. When I showed up to the Green St. location, I was told that the truck was not at this location and we had to take a cab to the Horseshoe Lake drive location. Overall the staff were not helpful and caused a lot of issues for me on my move.

KYLE LEROY TRIMPERI wish the rentals came with snowbrushes for large vehicles in winter, as I don't own a vehicle or tools to remove snow from large vehicles otherwise. I also only pay with VISA-Debit, which the location cannot process, but the location is also a bit remote, so sometimes my wifi connection acts up at pick-up or drop-off, and can take a lot of extra time then.

The self return on the app didn't work correctly, took about a dozen pictures before the system somehow assumed I was completed the pictures, I couldn't get to set 5 on after hour return

Patrick AyimThe van was great and the all wheel drive was a life saver as we were moving in the middle of a blizzard. Snow tires would have been even better. I had a lot of trouble with the app I had to use upon returning the vehicle, however. Trying to take photos of the truck with frozen hands was not fun and in my fumbling I lost the form and after many frustrating minutes was unable to get it back. In the end, I gave up and just put the keys in the return slot.

GARY RICHARDSYou broke your own contract trying to sell me after hours access. All loading bays were damaged, blocked by trucks, or used for storing trailers last time I went. I nearly got blocked into the building after office hours because you're not giving people a proper place to drop their trucks after hours. I have photos and a written contract uhaul broke. I will never rent from you again nor will I recommend you. As a matter of fact I have put the above info and photos online for the world to know and see what they are in for at uhaul.

Glenn EsauThe pick up was easy. The service agent was very helpful and friendly. The drop off was after hours so we had to go through the whole process of taking pictures and uploading information which was annoying. I also had conflicting information given to me prior to picking up our van by uHaul customer service. (1-833-399-0504). One agent said to simply use the App. for our required Ride Share - which was what the email from uHaul informed me we had be "upgraded" to. The App wouldn't allow me to set up a profile. Next CS agent said, no need for the App just do it all online. ???? The 3rd CS agent said our booked truck wasn't available at the location where we had reserved it and she would need to find us another location!!!! We ended up driving to the location the day before to confirm we would have the truck we booked the following day. I gotta say, the communication within uHaul is AWFUL!!!!

David MiesnerBooked a trailer for pick up at Windmill road location for 8am, get there and they tell me I have to go to halifax horseshoe lake location to pickup and that I should have be notified, I wasn't. I didn't receive a call or email or text, nothing! I get to the Halifax store on horseshoe lake and the parking lot was terrible, no salt down and customer service was poor. They didn't care. Then when I booked said I could pay with debit, i go to pay with debit and they required a deposit which was not noted when booked!!! It was a shitshow! Trailer was not even ready for 8am in Halifax either. Got there around 8:40 am and didn't leave until 9:30am. I had movers lined up and they were not impressed as that put them behind which costed me more because it took over an hour to get a booked trailer for 8am. I will not be back to rent any equipment, and I will tell all my friends and family about the horrible experience.

They only thing they could improve on would be a sign by the pad key saying you must punch in code or alarm will go off. The other thing is an indicator saying the garage door is occupied before you attempt to back up to a garage door.

Yet, despite the fact that I was given a locker half as big as I asked for, I was still charged for the original size. My experience renting moving vans with uhaul has also been awful. First of all when I did have the money I could not get a hold of anyone in the officem I kept getting transferred to the main line and I was told I needed to speak to the manager to send funds. I paid half my unit cost the start of August and was unable to reach anyone all day August 31st to pay the other half. It resulted in an email the next day of the unit going up for auction. When I tried to contact the manager to discuss this I had the same exact issue. I was forwarded multiple times and spent hours being transferred to people who worked for U-Haul who could not help me. I have told multiple U-Haul employees that I wanted to speak to the higher up to place a formal complaint. I ended up losing my storage unit. Yes I understand I could not pay it in full. But if you say you're gonna work with someone and completely ghost them and you're unreliable than that just makes your word and reliability trash. This experience put a bad taste in my mouth about the entire company. I had not been helped and my unit has now been auctioned off. No one tried reaching me by phone. Also I was banned for trying to bid on my own unit since U-Haul refused to work with me with my items. I'm in the United States. I can't just show up physically to my unit. I will continue to try to place my formal complaint about this faculty. This manager is a joke.
Olivia Alward | Expérience généraleHalifax UHaul is a perfect spot for all storage needs. We had an issue with our bill early in and it was looked after with care and in a timely fashion. They only complaint I do have is the charge we had to get our lock cut off. My husband lost the key to our locker and it cost $50 for them to cut the lock. It was definitely an expensive mistake on our part. As for the employees at this UHaul, they go above and beyond for their customers.

She has been in there, at the front desk area, serving clients, and supporting staff every time we have visited the location over the past few months (at all hours, and every day of the week). She also treats clients and staff as people. She is warm and friendly, genuine. She actively problem-solved various challenges we faced with uHaul booking online, and made our complex and really stressful and difficult move possible. She deserves recognition for her talent and her hard work and amazing attitude. Thank you Jen! You - and under your leadership your staff - turned challenging uHaul experiences into positives. We are so impressed and grateful. We have recommended this location specifically to several friends and family already.

I'm 5'6", and clearly longer than the front dimension of the unit we were given. We brought enough furniture to fit into an 8 by 8 unit which screwed us over when we were given (and charged for) a 5 by 8.

I was told my stuff was going to auction. I made my payment and went to check on my locker and my lock was cut off. They gave me a new pne, with no apology. And that lock didnt work. . Had to be cut off. Went to move my stuff and couldn't fi ish bc of the card they gave sid not work. Left with stuff outside. Finally moved my stuff next day and was forced to leave my belonging outside bc of alarm.

No follow up! Poor service on that note; which is a rather important note. When something goes wrong, that's the time to truly show up for your customers. Someone needs to resolve this issue ASAP. We have about $4000 in damages.
hong wang | Expérience généraleI booked online for a 10x10x10. I arrived at the facility and rented a truck the same day. I went and got items to be stored and brought them on site. Opening up the locker, I questioned if it was the right locker due to the small size. I went to the office and asked to make sure it was the right locker due to the size. The only comment was the system says it is a 10x10x10, so I can't help you. I asked the person at the desk to come and look, she said no. I asked her to talk to a manager and she asked Jen and she said no and wouldn't look at it either. I measured it with a tape measure and it is a maximum 9'4"x 9'6"x 7''9". This is false advertising and I wasn't going to get what I was paying for. I had a friend come with a trailer and we moved the items to Metro Self Storage, where the people were nice and friendly.

I was ready to pay for the vehicle and to use it today but she was very tough.I asked for solutions and I said I was flexible but she was not cooperative. Luckily only 1 punctured the tire. Many of these screws are come from the construction of the storage lockers themselves, though some come from careless customers. I'd highly recommend sweeping the lot with a magnetic sweeper after new units are constructed as the builders seem careless with fastening hardware.

I get to uhaul and they say that all they have is 5x5x8 for the same price. They said the online registration is first come first served. So essentially they do not use the reservation system at all and it is pointless. End up having to pay the same for a significantly smaller space. When I did get in I tried to use my previous truck rental to get a free month. The lady at the desk said that there was an issue and that I would have to come in the next day to get help from the manager. Well lo and behold when I go in the next day, the same lady is able to help me. Big waste of time. Then turns out she didn't do the reservation correctly, because when I went in this week a little after a month later, my unit was locked with one of their locks. They weren't able to see who owned the unit, so they locked it and put it as a John Doe. (Auto pay was setup) The man that helped me was very kind and helpful, poor guy had to go in and fix all of the issues that were caused. This took about 10/15 minutes to resolve to just get back in. This isn't the first time I have had issues with this Uhaul, though I can guarantee once I can move my things this will be the last time I go to this center. Complete incompetence all the way through, and they do not even uphold Uhaul online reservations. Another note, was asked to move my car to the "customer parking" even though there were no signs to indicate. And their main door to the store side don't open all the way and I smoked my shoulder off door. Sad place, and unfortunately there aren't many other options that are similarly priced

My one critisim I notice is the carts, they should be hosed off the same as the trucks. Many people use these units, and with various coveid, now other illness being transmitted this is a big failing.I find Jen will listen to any concerns you have and address them. THankyou .

The drop-off of the truck took another 30-40mins of standing in line to wait. Both wait times are unacceptable when trying to navigate the logistics of a move - time limit on truck reservation as a prime example. Spending over an hour of a truck rental standing in line waiting to pick it up is not acceptable. As well, the storage unit we had reserved online was not available when we checked in so ended up having to take a smaller unit, which likely will not serve our needs further inconveniencing us. The facility is clean and well laid out but the wait times and lack of available storage unit/unfulfilled reservation is really disappointing.

Afterward, our customer record was deleted but when re adding us they did not set up the payment. As a result our door had a ted lock we had to get removed and it also prevented us from renting truck. On our last day we were told by another staff member we should have been given access code. Positive points were convenient location and cleaning/security staff. They were excellent.

The electrical contractor you hired (Turple electric) was rude to customers and during COVID there was one who wouldn't wear a mask and harassed me and other customers. Staff didn't care. Smoking area for staff right beside main doors. While people load and unload, they have to breath in smoke. Also, some staff is always smoking. In 89 of my 100 visits, someone was smoking by the main door. It's 2022, why is this. Twice during my 15 month storage and the 8 trucks I rented I had issues. Jen Cashin even emailed me to respond to my concerns. Her response and offer fell far short, and she didn't even follow through. I was dissatisfied. I hated going to Uhaul by the end. It was like a comedy of errors. But it wasn't funny. It was hassle. There was no need for it. I will never use uhaul again, every, for anything. The price sounds like the best, and you have lots of trucks, and the facility for storage is new and clean. But the experience was painful, and fell far short of my expectations. The person who booked my storage locker in the first place was probably the worst. In a brand new facility, he gave me the locker that is absolutely the furthest from the entrance. I made over 100 trips. Each time as I walked past rows of empty units I wondered why he wanted me to suffer. He was rude, and condescending. I found that to be the rule at uhaul. I can't tell you if that was just a local store issue or if it's company wide. Either way, I don't care. I'm done with it.

ROBERT LEWIS FERGUSON | Expérience généraleOur possessions were moved into our storage unit by the removal company and they gave the keys to the reception to put in their lock box until we were able to get over to Nova Scotia to Ontario. We had provided the removal company with a lock but they were told that we had to buy a UHaul one. We were meant to collect our keys for the storage unit on arrival but the keys had been lost by Uhaul. We then waited 3 hours for the staff to remove the lock for us. On three occasions we had to go and ask if they were coming to assist us and every time it appeared they had forgotten all about us. Both my husband and I had taken a day off work to move out of the unit but unfortunately were unable to clear the unit due to this lengthy wait. We are still waiting for a refund for the lock.

In May we rented a 26 ft truck they told us when they got there they only had a 20, I booked 2 storage units only to find out when we got there they only had one on top of not being able to find our reservation. They said it was because I called their Arizona phone number. We had to rent another truck and find another unit at another storage place. When we moved out on June 26 they said again they couldn't find our reservation again, also we wanted to change our drop off location to Digby 15 minutes from us but they said it would cost $800!! So instead we had to take it further from us. I don't understand how at every turn there was an issue, it's like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing!

The after hours was pretty confusing so we had to move to an outside unit to have 247 hr access Our units door wouldn't stay open we reported it and went to meet with the maintenance person but they didn't show and apparently a work order wasn't submitted even thou we complained. upon moving we noticed a huge leak destroying some boxes luckily it was nothing valuable. And caused minimal damage however could have definitely been a major issue. We didn't have anything that contained food however upon moving we noticed chew boxes, materials, and rodent poop. We understand these things can happen, so we didn't say much. The manager is pretty friendly but unfortunately I can't say that for the rest of the staff, every time I had to speak with anyone it seemed to be an inconvenience for them. We had auto renew set up but twice there was a red lock put on our unit for no reason both times the rep saw my account was $0 and explained that sometimes there a delay with auto renew even thou the money has come out our account cause we were using a visa debit. I wish before the locked us out of our unit we paid for they verified first especially sense the reps were aware of the issue. My only complaint was that I will billed for the entire month (December) when I moved out on the first day of the new billing period. I had tried to get out the day earlier but the moving company could not have the job completed before the access to my unit was closed at 1900. As stated by the CSR " at 1900 we close and turn on the alarms" This cost me an extra day and thus an additional 243 dollars spent on a unit i was not going to use again. That was disappointing.

I called on October 8th to inquire about promotions and rates as I saw one on line for one month free storage with truck rental. I called the Halifax location to ask specifically about this promotion. I was told it was available for both one way and in town rentals. I asked if I could book it on line or had to be in store, I was told I could do either. I proceeded to book both my truck rental and storage online. The promotion was not valid. I had issues picking up my truck on my mobile device as it did not show up on my account reservations, only my storage. I went to Customer Service to check in for my truck. Received everything, no problems. Disappointed that there was no access code available and I was limited to the holiday hours to move and store my items. I asked about the promotion and if the agent could apply it for me. He advised that it had just expired. I asked why I would be told of an expired promotion? He said I could provide feedback. This promotion was the reason I decided to choose uhaul for my truck rental and storage solutions. Finally when I arrived to return my truck, I could not do it via mobile self service as the rental still did not appear on my account reservations. I called the after hours support and was on hold for 40minutes before I was disconnected. I called back and requested a call back which never happened. I called the Halifax location at 7am as soon as it opened to explain my issues with mobile return of my truck. I said I could drive to the location to complete the return in person before my truck was due to be returned should that be required. I was advised it was not necessary. Needless to say, a process that seemed all too effortless on line did not go as smoothly as planned. I chose uhaul for the promotion of one month's free storage if this wasn't the case, I would have chosen other options as there were promotions elsewhere I could have taken advantage of. I hope you would honour your promotion. Merci.

Called several times to get the situation fixed and was always promised a call back from a manager but that never happened. The sliding door to the facility was broken for the whole time we rented there (6 months) brought that up to employees it was never fixed always had to pry it open, it was supposed to be an automatic door. The sanitizer despenser inside the door was never filled even throughout a lockdown. To say the least renting a locker from U haul was a terrible experience and I am glad to have moved my stuff out of there! I will never recommend any of thier services to anyone I know, especially the Bayers Lake location which is the one I used.

CAROL EASTON | Expérience généraleRecieved a phone call one day stating I had to go through my locker as there was a foul smell in the building. The day I went in I was hit with the smell of rotten fish. Went through my locker, smell was not coming from there so I reported back to them. A few months later, I asked if it had been taken care of and not a single person knew what I was talking about. My stuff still smells like rotten fish. I had requested for a 5x5 locker. Most of my stuff that should have fit did not fit and I ended up having to store it elsewhere. We measured the unit and found out it was actually 4x4. When it was brought up to management, they said I would just have to deal with it. If I was not in a bad situation at the time of move in, I would have never used this facility. The staff was always far from helpful and rude whenever I went into the office. I was also only able to access my stuff until 7 pm which is a huge inconvenience since I work every day till 7pm. They couple days I took to move my items out of storage, the doors were closed off and I had to use a different area to go into the building. The staff was incredibly rude when I asked them how I was supposed to enter the building. They asked me why I needed to go in…. On top of all that, there was never any place to park and very hard to load/unload vehicles due to the parking situation. Most of the time I had to carry my items from the far end of parking lot into the building

There were a few bright lights in a mostly miserable experience from the pick up of my trailer to dropping my things off in storage. I really don't know how you Allstate in business with the poor customer service you provide, your internet portals are a joke, no one ever answers the phone and your customer service in person people are burnt out from all the unhappy customers. My reservation wasn't there when I arrived but when you are the most tired in your life there is no fight. The last person I felt with was accommodating sympathetic and kind. If U-Haul disappeared in a black hole no one would care.

If there are people in line (to rent vehicles, book storage, pay for items, etc, you have to wait behind them. Could be over a half hour just to have them press a button to get into the storage bay. Most of time it takes more than two hours to load or unload trucks but location only opens till 7. Considering transit times to the facility, it is not quite convenient for access. Two out of three truck bay doors didn't open during our stay of 1 month, during which we visited 3 times. The one door who did open was not tall enough for our truck provided by hired moving company. However, i do believe uhaul trucks can fit through. Facility is clean and well lit. Usually staff are quick response and trained well to provide resolution. All in all, good hardware but really need to do something with the hours.

I think the women could hear distress in my voice because no sooner did I say that she said that for a one way meaning from my place to the storage in Bayers Lake facility I would be given a month free of storage ! I could feel my stress level decreasing as ever moment passed by ! Not only did I have no place to live but the money was very tight also ,because of the Epidemic I had no job either ! The three guys I had helping me didnt pack the storage properly, so I had no other choice but to get another unit , The manager took 20 % off of that one plus loaned me her lock so I wouldn't have to buy one ! I dont have a cent to my name but I'm so grateful that U-Haul cared enough to offer their help ! Thank You Bayers Lake U-Haul for your kindness ! Corina

We had completed the online storage application on the U-Haul website and had requested an 8x10 storage locker at the 350 Horseshoe Lake location. Upon getting there the staff member was unable to open our online reservation and then proceeded to tell us that they do not have any 8x10 storage units. I should him the reservation confirmation I received from U-Haul that showed I had booked an 8x10 at that location and the staff member shrugged it off and said they didn't have any. This was extremely disappointing because I had completed the online reservation to make our move in easy but it turned out to be a very difficult and stressful move in. Also none of the entrance doors work properly (they only half open) and the storage space smells of fish.

Then when i said i was checking in, she got fustrated and was conplaining that the new storage units wernt in the system and she had to check me in manually. While i was being served, she was also explaining to a customer on when he should see the hold on his credit card go back on his card. She was very abrupt and when he left, she turned to me and shook her head. Very unprofessional throughout the whole process. She also argued with other staff.

All pedestrian access is boarded over with plywood. Besides being a concern in an emergency or during a power outage, it was inconvenient to have to go into the office and request it be opened every visit.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the renovations that are being done to the building. I was told someone would be contacting me about getting it cleaned. After no call back I've tried contacting you several times. After being on hold for awhile my calls get transferred to a call center in the U.S. somewhere, where nobody can do anything but send you a message on my behalf. I'm still awaiting a reply of some sort. Nobody has gotten back to me and it has now been 3 weeks. I was assured that someone would take care of it. Turns out that was a lie. I would never use your storage facility again. You advertise clean, dry units. The black stains all over my now ruined couch say otherwise. I have pictures I can send if you'd like to see.

I realize it's a relatively new facility and perhaps a proper security system isn't yet in place, but large signs are posted on the premises advertising 24/7 access and I was very disappointed to discover that in fact the access hours for storage units were identical to the office hours, far too limited for my needs. I hope that issue is rectified soon, because there are other facilities nearby that have no restrictions on hours of access, and, for me at least, that's a strong argument for going with them.

They have to bear the brunt of it in silence. You put them in a very awkward position because of your greed. You have fantastic customer service, you just cheat on measurements. If you want good ratings, change the cheating The shame of it is you put them in an embarrassing position. Change your paperwork to reflect the ACTUAL USABLE FEET. 9x9 My feelings are you cheat people about the measurements - I supposedly have and pay for a 10x10 space, when in actual fact that is NOT ACCURATE. My actual USABLE space is 9x 9ish. You cannot store anything in the ripple of the corrugated metal, nor can you store anything from where the slide door comes down to the middle edge of the step. I was told the measurement is from the inside ripple to the outside of the step. Try being honest and charge people for ACTUAL STORAGE SPACE!!! If asked, I would definitely tell people how you cheat people. I moved over from Metro self storage, based on Jen's help and great customer service - she sold me. I actually measured and they cheat people as well??? What the h*ll is with you people. Just change your signage to reflect the TRUTH instead of ripping people off.
