U-Haul equipment is usually very well-maintained for the amount of usage each item gets. The truck we were issued and used was the worse that we've had to date. Occasional puffs of black exhaust. Odor while idling. Steering, hard pull to the right. Steering wheel loose and off center turned to the left. Loud acceleration with high pitch whine. Very bumpy ride. Underpowered with acceleration. Service engine or oil light on. 60 miles used a 1/4 tank of gas, 30 of those miles the truck was empty.Colleen D.

Even with a reservation and advance check-in, it took over an hour to get a trailer. Counter employees are unbelievably rude and uninterested in providing customer service. Seriously, this was my second time at this location (I wish there was someplace else that I could rent a trailer), and they are worse than the DMV or any car rental agency. I hope the owners care enough to see this review and do something about it.David P.

Employees were very rude. One woman who was moving trucks that were coming back in saw us dropping off the truck and honked her horn at us and kept waving her hands. She didn't get out of the vehicle to actually speak to us, she just motioned for us to walk to her. After I got to the vehicle I realized she wanted me to hand the key to her. She was very condescending and too lazy to actually get out of her vehicle to ask for the key, she wanted us to come to her. Very poor customer service! Then a woman named Kim who I had spoken to on the phone before returning the truck and told her the truck needs to have the rear tail light repaired told ME to take a picture of it. Seriously? After I gave the key to the first rude employee, Kim told that person that the truck I was returning was damaged, as if it were MY fault that UHaul supplied me with a truck that hadn't been safety checked before renting it to me. . I told her it is NOT damaged, I was doing a courtesy to the next driver because it is a safety hazard. She rudely said â€œthat's why I told YOU to take a picture of it!â€ I am appalled that UHaul has such poor customer service, rude employees, and lack of safety checks between rentals.Cindee W.

When a customer makes a reservation for a truck online, they are able to make it for a time that is outside of business hours. However, if you show up to the U-Haul location before they open (i.e. for when you made your reservation), you are not able to pick up the truck and are (rudely) told to come back when they open. The online system should not let you reserve a truck for a time when the location is not open, it causes frustration on everyone's part!Krista C.

I called the location at opening to ask if I could drop off a couple hours late. The person said it wouldn't be a problem and they would note we could bring back at noon. 15 minutes later, the same person called me accusing me of not returning the trailer at the right day or time (the trailer was due 6/5 and they said it was due 6/4). Upon returning the trailer, the same representative raised her voice and talked over my wife in front of customers when she was trying to show printed proof of our reservation (original receipt/confirmation from pickup location which showed 6/5 drop off at 8am). Very poor customer service, would not recommend. On a side note: the gentleman that received and inspected the trailer was very nice, helpful and funny.Christopher M.

My reservation was changed from a location 5 minutes away to this one (almost 40 minutes away). When we arrived at our scheduled time, we were told that our truck wouldn't be available for another 2 hours. I asked why we weren't called and was told they were very busy. I told her how far we had driven and asked if there was anything they can do. She eventually put us in a larger truck but not without complaint to a coworker and grumbling. I appreciate her making a way for us but it was not without making it known what an inconvenience it was even though we were the ones being inconvenienced after our pickup was changed and our truck wasn't ready.Sonya D.

I had a reservation to pickup at 8am. The truck was not ready for pickup until 930am. The truck was given to me with a dirty rear cargo area that had not been sweped, had broken glass and candy wrappers. The truck also had a non working parking brake so I had to use my own wheel chucks for peace of mind since the driveway where I was moving from was on an incline. When I made the reservation I asked for an appliance dolly and a dozen moving blankets, when I picked up the truck I was told they had no appliance dolly and only the blankets in the cargo of the truck if it had any, luckily it did but not even the right quantity since there were only 5 in the bag which said 6, and I had to use the dolly from the truck which was too small so I'm probably going to be charged for a dolly that was useless. The truck did not have working air conditioning in the front cabin on top of all.Juan S.

The check in person did not seem like they wanted to be they and rushed off when shift replacement showed up. Check in seemed to take a very long time. Their was a problem with the credit card going through that the supervisor fixed in about two minutes. 1. Customer service was not helpful in trying to exchange my truck for a larger one - used chat (told me to go in to the location, which was closed), called (was on hold for over 45 min before giving up). 2. The online tool for estimating how much space we would need was WAY off. We ended up having to leave a significant portion of our stuff behind because we couldn't fit it or get a bigger truck. 3. The retail stores are not helpful. I tried buying a few special size boxes online, expecting that they would pull them and hold them for me. They did not. Told me to go pick out what I bought and bring it up and when they were out of the thing I bought, just refunded me with no other option of where to get the item, no apology, nothing. If you're not intending to sell me what I bought, don't take my money. 4. The Moving Help portion of my order was the biggest disappointment of all. First couple of companies I booked didn't even call me back or confirm that they were available. Of course, UHAUL already charged me for both, so I had to cancel and get refunds both times. Then, the third company I finally got a hold of and booked showed up - completely stoned and out of uniform - claimed they found a couple of roaches (no way) and left without loading our truck. We ended up having to load it all by ourselves, panicked. This was one of the worst days of my life. 5. Our truck leaked rain inside and damaged some of our items. Transportation and protection from the elements are the two main things we expected from this rental, and we are very disappointed that they couldn't deliver. In short, I never want to give another dollar to UHAUL - for a long distance move, it was not with it at all.Eric M.

We booked to pick up at 8am and I've the 24/7 option. Got there at 8am and there were no directions to pick up the van. The office didn't open until 9am. The lady working there offered to help us at 8,3 and told us that location doesn't have 24/7 as they don't have a key box. This was not stated on the website and made us late for our moving day. I reserved a trailer on 5/2 in Castle Rock and then the pickup location was changed. The email that informed me of the change went to my junk folder The email said 5pm pickup and when I called the new location at 230 they were closing. I message was left for me at 11am that morning but i didn't have my with me. So I had to call scheduling and they found me a trailer at Highlands Ranch. Pickup was fine although completely out of my way. The drop off lot attendant was unprofessional, bitchy and I won't go here again.Mike W.

Clerk there told me at 6:54 that I had six minutes until they opened. When I said I signed up for a 24/7 checkin, but my app now said I had to see someone there, she said they don't have that, sat down and lit a cigarette turning her back on me. She was late opening, when she saw my reservation time of 7 she pointed in out, when I told her it was now after 7 she told me she should have not used the ladies room and sat and pissed her pants. Her comments were so offensive even another coworker came out while I was taking photos of the truck to apologize for her conduct and treatment. A miserable experience by a buzz cut having having loud mouth gal with a tweety bird tat. She also told me to complain about no 24/7 to 1800 u haul. Will NEVER go back there. Very busy location. Employee turnover probably biggest problem. Helpful when there were problems; just had too much experience with problems. Confusion in record keeping, etc. They work hard, and can be nice, fix issues when they can. They MUST improve logistics. Then when I showed up they didn't have any record of my reservation and had sold out of the available size. They tried to offer me two smaller units but it wasn't enough to fit my materials. Customer service was great at the storage location and it is a good deal with the first month free; however after the first month anything bigger than a 5 X 5 is very expensive. I will pay over $185/mn for my 10 X 10. The other problem I had with the physical location was how hot it was in the storage facility. The A/C was on but it felt very warm when we were moving our items in the unit. UHaul can make the temperature more comfortable for their movers in the facilities. Customer service on the phone was awful with long wait times, disconnection, drop off location confusion, and poor willingness to clear up the problem. This was all a huge mess. I reserved (2) 15'x10' storage units to arrive at the site and find (6) 5'x10' units as if that is the same thing. Things do not fit as well into smaller areas, and they cost me more for the same space. The general manager of this location did nothing to make it better and I was unable to ever even get ahold of him. The general manager also seems to be a bit of a gate keeper so it is a bigger issue than it might otherwise be. The staff is super helpful when they have the power to be, but getting the proper price rate is not in their ability to provide. I failed to get ahold of him for 8 weeks while I was renting those 6 storage units. I was told that he was the only one that could honor the price I was quoted when reserving online. 6 office visits (he never works) and 3 unreturned voicemails later, I overpaid by a couple hundred dollars, so I don't really care about how clean the facility or friendly the staff is, they can't get it above average. The manager had told me he would price match my unit. However, the process required a minimum of 3 calls a month to make payment due to all of the approvals I had to go through. I got lien notices almost every month due to the managers delay. I did not enjoy my time at uhaul. Probably won't ever rent from uhaul again. I found storage rates at $66 for a indoor 10x10. First, Id like to say that the manager, Durrell, was awesome! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional, each of the three times I encountered him, and he's the reason I'm choosing above average. One of those times, involved a problem. He was incredibly busy that day, but didn't let that affect his level of service. We pay attention to customer service. Good service can be so hard to find, especially when tips aren't involved. Honestly, 3 of the above questions should be made into two, because the facility can be secure, but not well lit. Staff can be helpful, but not friendly. A question pertaining to safety should be added as well. The code to access the building containing the storage unit did not work on either of the two occassions we needed to access the unit in the early evening.David C. | Expérience générale
For a few years, we were very satisfied with U-Haul. For the past few months, the security system has not been fully functional. We have not been able to have after-hours access and exits/entrances have not being fully monitored/tracked making us trust the security less than before. We found another facility with a jumbo storage unit equal to the size of our 2 large U-Haul units, costing $160 less per month than U-Haul, and with fully functioning security plus after-hours access. Unfortunately, U-Haul did not cancel our units when requested. We moved out, cleaned our units, removed our locks, and cancelled our units in early Feb 2021. It took repeated attempts through mid-March to get the charges and late fees to stop being charged to us. I rated overall experience "Average" based on our early years. Most of the staff are "Average" or lower and a few are "Poor" but there is one manager who is "Above Average" and he was very helpful to us. Issue was that people parked truck in a way which took up two lanes/spaces in loading/unloading area/dock. When it was reported, noone made them correct it. We had a death in the family on 11/24. We called before being billed for next month and asked if the month would be pro rates if we moved out 4 days late. We were told by GM we would get credit for the days from 12/5 to 12/29. When we went to the facility on 12/4 Durrell told us no proration was allowed. Every time I've had dealings with this facility its been a train wreck . I purposely drive out of the way to patronize other stores rather than go here. Due to past experiences ,I prohibited my business from using this location since 2009. A sudden and temporary need during a recent move made using this location most convenient . Maybe it was just a fluke day, but again- train wreck. There was a new store manager starting and the tension was thick. The cashier wanted the new manager to process our order but he said he didn't know how. He didn't real seem interested in learning. She rolled her eyes and had obvious contempt for him. We were told the storage unit building was open until 10 and given an access code . I confirmed we would be able to access the unit after the office closed since we had required trips that would happen after 5pm. We were supposed to get an access card but was told the machine was down . When we returned later with a load of material ~5ish the entry code we had been given would not work. The manager was just leaving and was obviously distressed. I explained we had to get into the unit so we could complete our move. He said he didn't know how to get in and that he had had " a long day I wouldn't be able to understand". I explained that me not getting into my unit was not an option. He said he had master keys at home and it would take him 1,5 hrs to go get them . I tried to troubleshoot options with him asking who else may have keys, etc but he got very emotional and said in frustration " Fine! I'll go all the way home and get my keys !" then recklessly sped away from the lot. To quote my stoic 18 year old son who was helping me " That was CRAZY." I did receive a call about an hour later from the manager who informed me his assistant lived close by and would come let me in. This happened. THANK YOU . A gentleman on a motorcycle showed up and happily let me in. Very professional . He explained I was not only not given an access card, I was not given proper instructions on how to operate the security system. The delay resulted in my moving crew leaving , forcing me to complete the 3-man load by myself - about 4 hrs of solo work for me. As your manager complained to me about his day, he had no perspective that I had been up for about 27 hours at that point, working in the smoke filled summer heat , and had an 11 hour truck drive to complete before my day would be over. It wasn't a minor inconvenience. All told, not being able to get in my unit cost me about 6hrs and $225 in wasted labor. The insinuation by tone and body language that this was " my problem" is just the cherry on top of a horrible experience. The facility is nice, clean, safe, and conveniently located - yet every-time its a cringe worthy ordeal. 3 for 3. At least they are consistent. Around 2005 they made my 74 year old mother cry ( really) over a $12 lock she couldn't get the key to turn in due to a sticking mechanism. Then, in the last experience they smugly charged me an extra day rent on a truck for being 13 minutes late after i waited in line IN THEIR LOBBY for 50 minutes to return the keys. This is only the 4th customer survey I've completed for ANY business in the last 10-15 years. I would avoid this place like the plague.jason c. | Expérience générale

It took us several trips to load our stuff into storage, When we took our stuff out, it took several loads also. On many of those occasions, we could not park because UHaul trucks were parked in the load/unload area. We had to ask for them to be moved each time. We think it is wrong for UHaul to use those places for truck parking. They should be left for the convenience of paying customers. I could tell they didn't clean daily or even weekly because I spilled a teeny bit of glitter in the hall to test cleaning and it was there weeks later. The login pad had visible dirt, it was black. They eventually cleaned it, but especially during this virus, it should have been cleaned daily. Everytime I came it was super busy and people everywhere and it was almost impossible to find a spot to park 80 % of the time. Might have been the timing. Not worth the price or location. Management was very great. Very nice and remembered who I was but nothing was worth the price when it was >$30 for the same size unit down the street. I moved out because of the inconvenience and the traffic. I still like U-Haul for their boxes and supplies but I'll never store with a U-Haul again. Overpriced for sure. They wouldn't give me a refund after 1/2 a month so I was forced to stay until my month was up. Sometimes I would walk through the dark and have to jump around for the light to turn on. It felt sketchy and I didn't like being in the dark alone. There were times that I would be at my unit organizing and an alarm would sound down the hall and no one would be there.olivia B. | Expérience générale

I was charged twice and still have not received a refund. I had a receipt showing this and spoke with the main manager and he was so rude and aggressive. They charged me for my unit and another unit that I did not rent. The main manager then decided to put a lock on my unit so I couldn't get my stuff. He said he was doing it just to "mess with me" I went back on a different day to speak with the assistant manager Les and he was the only one that helped me. He could see my unit was paid for and took the lock off. I'm still owed 69 dollars of over payment that the main manager refused to give me. With everything going on in the world and being treated so aggressively from the main manager makes me sick. The only nice person there they knows what he is doing is Les. I can't remember if it's Les or Lex but if it weren't for him I would have been afraid to get my belongings because of how horrible the main manager was. It also not temperature controlled it was close to 90 degrees and I had an entire box of stuff ruined because of it.
