Young lady who helped me is amazing. Very helpful. I'm a long-time Uhaul customer (lived in many places in the world and used Uhaul services), and your location is one of the best. Also, a guy who helped me transfer a mattress from 1 truck to another was very warm and friendly. Thanks guys. You both deserve a raise.

One of the drivers backed into the U-Haul that I was driving because he was driving recklessly. The sales representative was inside uhaul getting the mileage, with the door open and almost hit her head on the door. I was shocked that he was speeding around the parking lot as if he was drag racing with the U-Haul's, unbelievable. I would not recommend U-Haul for that site.. plus there was damage to the rear right in of the U-Haul truck that did not show up on the photos on the website I did add a photo of the damage. I wouldn't be surprised if the employee who was drag racing, the U-Haul's caused the damage.

I was told I would get a first floor storage but when I returned the next day contractor work was prohibiting access. There was apparently an internal communication issue. It negatively impacted my moving logistics.

I recently rented a truck from U-Haul and had a remarkably smooth experience. The truck itself was impressively clean and surprisingly easy to navigate, even for someone not accustomed to driving larger vehicles. I was particularly pleased with the convenience offered by U-Haul's new center location, which significantly simplified the pickup and drop-off process. However, there was one aspect of my rental experience that proved to be less than ideal. The cabin of the truck was heavily perfumed, a challenge for someone like me who is highly sensitive to fragrances. This intense scent made it difficult for me to fully enjoy the driving experience. Thankfully, the situation improved when I opened the windows, allowing fresh air to dilute the overpowering fragrance. This was a perfect solution until it began to rain, presenting a new set of challenges. Despite this minor hiccup, my overall experience with U-Haul was positive. The quality of the service and the vehicle itself exceeded my expectations. I'd like to extend my gratitude to the team for their excellent service and for providing a vehicle that met my needs so well. I look forward to using U-Haul's services again in the future and would recommend them to anyone in need of a reliable truck rental.

The staff have always been helpful at this location, and I've always been able to get the equipment I need. I am disappointed, however, in UHaul's increasing reliance on mobile websites/apps. It's a burden on the customer to have to take so many photos and navigate through all these pages just to begin your rental (even if you opted *not* to use "mobile check in"). If i'm renting a truck, chances are I've got a job to get done, and it's frustrating to have to spend so much time doing these tasks before I can get on the road.

Although the facility itself was pleasant, the wait time was ridiculous! Twice I was there w-a-i-t-I-n-g for roughly 1 1/2 hrs just to be waited on. My initial contract had so many mistakes and with the amount of time it took to resolve them, the manager graciously gave me the first month rent for free. There was also some frustration with the whole key card access to the elevator. Having to often go back outside to re-swipe and the call button not working. In addition, I was told I could make my monthly payment via the app. The app wasn't working, which resulted in a late fee, the inconvenience of having to go in and pay it. Then to go to the storage only to find the double lock still on it and having to go back to the office. It simply became frustrating. I am thankful for the Mgr and Ms. Dani (both at New Center, Detroit) who took the time to rectify my initial contract and to correct the wrong additional fee(s) made to the charge to my credit card. I am thankful that my time there is done as I didn't want to continue and it all remain stressful. Again, thxful for those who did help!

Delivery driver was rude and placed my stuff in a tow away zone. Luckily it was not towed. Manager of Detroit location canceled my order because of a scheduling error on uhauls behalf and then failed to un-cancel it for over a week. Customer support was largely unhelpful and didn't take initiative in fixing the issue.

The peson who helped me out was very professional and helpful. She did a great job, and even pulled the truck out for me. I had my belongings sold at auction without out notice I had that unit for about 7 years the manager is very rude and unprofessional I didn't receive any notice with a auction date they have my email address and would contact me via email I received an email when they had sold my property. I have been vary ill and this has just made my life worse. My unit was 5013 I don't think that it was right .

Cleanliness the truck cabin was filthy. The last driver smoked in the truck, ashes were in the cup holder. Also, I found a cigarette lighter, plus the floor mats were dirty too.

I reserved and paid for a utility dolly that I never received. Luckily that was refunded. However, I am deeply concerned that an apple AirTag connected with my mobile device without my consent tracking my phone location. I was not informed beforehand that that was something to expect nor was I given the option to opt out, and I don't appreciate that.

The staff are rude, and unknowable about questions about their facility. Noone was willing to help including the manager. I will never recommend or use any UHaul services anymore. Very disappointed as I've used UHaul in the past from time to time and used to be content with the services until now. Service here is downright deplorable.

Although I completed the online process, it was interrupted by an incompetent General Manager and his staff. I was set to move my belongings into the unit on January 15, 2024. Upon arrival, my code did not work and my access was denied. My moving helpers were paid by the hour and after several unsuccessful attempts, I went inside the store. The General Manager was present and assisted. He reviews my account only to discover that "a maintenance staff person" had cleared out by unit after I completed the online process on January 13, 2024, which include electronically signing a contract and paying the first month's rent. The General Manager then proceeds to ask for my emergency contact again so that he could reverse was apparently done. It's funny, I never received a move out communication after this so-called clear out had been completed. This is not my first encounter dealing with the incompetence by the General Manager. In December 2022, I moved out of an apartment and had store my apartment in a U-Box for a couple weeks until my apartment was ready. I was preparing to travel for the Christmas holidays and wanted to store a few items ahead of my travel. Upon arrival at the facility, I learn that my U-Box could not be located. It took nearly two hours to discover that they left my U-Box outside and by the date it was arctic weather, so my lock was frozen. It had to be cut open. These idiots left my U-Box in the elements for several weeks. I figured out that they it outside where I packed it. In the over 20 years of dealing with U-Haul in several states from Georgia, Washington, DC, and Maryland--I have never experienced such incompetence. And while they are willing to offer a free month and an apology, it just doesn't make up for the failure to do business in the manner that is U-Haul should be operating. I don't believe for one minute that a maintenance staff made that sort of error with a legal contract. Not one minute. The General Manager is simply in over his head. It is clear that he does not know how to operate this facility. The unfortunate circumstance is that Detroit city proper doesn't have the level of nationally known businesses in the city. This facility is one of two in the city proper. Detroit proper could use some good ole competition in the storage facility marketplace. I would love to see national brands such as Public Storage, Extra Space Storage and Cube Smart enter the Detroit city proper market (not the metro because those brands have locations in the suburbs). Detroit city has the infrastructure and the growing population for their to be fair competition and better offerings.

Both times I've visited this location I've dealt with someone specific who is the exact reason I won't return. While I don't have his name, I'm sure this isn't the first notice they've had about his person. There's a gentlemen who I generally see in the yard, moving vehicles and such, and has the absolute worst attitude. So bad that he has yelled (not exaggerating) at me on both visits. The first visit I chalked it up to having a bad day and gave him the benefit of the doubt. This trip, seeing as I received the exact same treatment from him, now has become a pattern of abuse from this employee. In typical bully fashion, once I was clear to him that I wasn't accepting of that behavior he immediately crumbled and lost his poor attitude. I treat others how I would like to be treated but I did not receive that from this employee. Specifically because of him I will go out of my way and pay extra money to a further location just so I don't have to deal with him again.

I had a question about some instructions on the dashboard that I did not understand. I tried calling several times but I could never get anyone to help. The UHaul facility in Detroit, MI, located at Baltimore/Milwaukee is a phenomenal facility. The staff has great customer service. I've never had any bad interactions there. I've been using this storage facility for years! I'd like to give a major shoutout to one staff person in particular; Ms. Jones!!!  Ms. Jones is very accommodating and really takes customer service and satisfaction to a brand new level. If all employees of any company was as customer friendly as she, the world would look a lot different!

Jamal is fantastic! I prefer dealing with the in person staff at the Baltimore St, location versus the call center staff. The experience I had on the phone yesterday 11.29.23, was not friendly or helpful. The call center personnel need more training in tone and listening to clients. Keeping your facility clean, accessible and providing helpful friendly staff will ensure repeat business.

Process was impersonal and difficult to navigate. When rented the truck earlier in the day, I twice asked for clarification, and the U-Haul employee insisted that it would be clear via text… but then I still had questions later when moving in with no one there to help. The floor map never loaded for me and I didn't know where to find the physical map. The double scan in system was very confusing the first time, and I watched 2 other people struggle with it while I was there. An alarm was going off in the main floor elevator bay the entire time I was there. There was a container of rat poison and a small amount of dirty water in my unit when first opened + trash on the floor in the hallway. I felt super misled by a promotion where I thought I was getting my first month's storage fee waved because I'd booked a truck, but come to find out that the deal didn't apply to my use case… but they was a main reason why I'd chosen U-haul in the first place. Also had a terrible experience with the self trick return process. Came out exhausted and deeply disappointed with U-haul

The app didn't work half the time I tried to use it. I went into the office area at the facility to ask a question, and the person working just told me to do things on the app, while he was helping other customers. I said I could wait my turn because the app wasn't working, and he continued to mumble things that I couldn't hear. I asked him to speak up, and he sighed and continued his stream of mumbling. I walked out and asked the parking lot attendant for help, and he was as helpful as he could be for not knowing the full answers to my questions. I asked another employee for help, and he sighed and rolled his eyes before answering. When he did answer, he said it in a way that implied I'm just supposed to know these things. I understand the first of the month is exceptionally busy and you're probably short staffed, but when your staff that are there aren't interested in answering questions and tell me to use the broken app, it's incredibly frustrating.

There were multiple issues with STORING MY POSSESSIONS there. First, management was NOT HONEST with how my units were handled. They TOLD ME that they did not EMPTY OUT UNITS THEMSELVES. THAT WOULD BE UP TO THE RESIDENTS. However, when a unit I had (I had 3 units) was checked, it had been cleaned out (by them) and was re-rented (unbeknownst to me). Secondly, the place was A MESS during CONSTRUCTION. The elevators usage was atrocious and management was absent. Thirdly, they charged for even the minor things like THROWING OUT ITEMS. I WOULD NOT recommend this place. If this is a representative of U-HAUL, I would use another company, such as PENSKI.

My only problem was the extraordinary length of time I spent at the check in desk. My original customer service person was Jamal and although he was nice he seemed swamped with multiple concerns and issues. There was a fire alarm that had to be shutoff and he had new employees checking people in and had to walk them through the process while trying to attend to the alarm and other things. But otherwise he was very knowledgeable and friendly.

I was in my storage unit for over five years, early on their were problems with the freight elevator but once they got that resolved, every thing else was on point. No rat poop or other hidden surprise in my unit. "Nice job".

Baltimore, Detroit, MI U-Haul location Jamil (?/spell check) and location manager were personable and professional, as well as knowledgeable and timely (regarding my online reservation to rent a storage unit) as each one (individually): 1. provided me with information and demonstrated how to gain access to the unit 2. accommodated my need (which included modifying my contract) to change to a larger unit. NOTE: I am a returning customer; 2021 and 2023. On a personal note: Although I do not like having to store away my things - again, I - do - appreciate the services U-Haul provides which helps reduce the stress of this experience.

I loved that it was indoors, and I did not experience any property loss due to theft or rats.. but a few times I came lights were out, and it was super creepy ...and the elevator needs to be replaced, literally it was down more than once and I had to walk up to my unit like 8 huge flights of stairs, I was in pain after that and it would be helpful if there was more than 1 elevator it gets so crowded so quick. The staff was nice so no complaints there. If the elevator wasn't so old it would be a 5 for me, but it's old and unreliable so I would not recommend in case anyone needs to access their unit, you may be out of luck. Those stairs to the 6th and 7th floors are horrible.

Terrible facility. Elevators were often broken and I'd have to come back another day. Often, there was rodent feces in halls and on the carts. A couple times there was a cockroach in the 4th floor hallway. I was always worried people are would be in my stuff in the storage unit. I'm glad we found another storage facility and could close our account.

I spoke with Doug Hill on Friday, when I was canceling my rental. Doug answered all my questions, was professional and personable, and even though it was after 6pm he didn't make me feel like my call & questions were an inconvenience. The only negative is minor. Being charged to throw something away in the dumpster can be rough. Sometimes you find something in your unit that you realize you don't need and you have no place for it. Having to take it off site isn't always easy, especially if you picked up other things, and now you have to find a place to dump the item.

The biggest issue was the only one available elevator being broken the month I was hoping to move out. I was compensated for my inconvenience with a free month of rent, so I was not update with overall service provided. However, it would be disingenuous to say it was perfect. Overall, 9/10! And staff very helpful

The elevator was broken the two days I tried to access my storage unit on the 6th floor to move in. I had a truck rented and a delivery scheduled, but was unable to move in due to the only elevator being broken with no estimated time of repairs. I had to rent another storage unit at a different facility. Called to try and get my rent refunded and no call back.

My company had the same storage unit for almost 3 years. Staff was always friendly and helpful. When my company first wanted to rent a unit long term, the owner went out of his way to make sure we had enough access cards and 24hrs access free for the first year. My first thought about 24hr access was - no need for that. But we needed after normal business hours plenty of times and it was well worth the money. Last day of rent I seemed out the owner to shake his hand and look him in the tonsay thanks for the great service.

The staff were always incredibly helpful and available--and they are busy folk. I was there a lot, moving out of my facility over a five-week period, and they always tended to my needs as soon as possible and knew exactly what they were doing. It was super easy getting in and out of the facility and renting vehicles as well--which I did three times. The location--right off the Lodge Freeway--is also superb and easy to get to. I would highly recommend U-Haul to anyone who wants to use them for storage.

Some of the questions I answered were not exactly yes. I was engaged by the Baltimore-Detroit location for at least two years. Prior to the management changing, I would have said no to at least questions 1, 3, 4, 6. Prior, I was annoyed with Uhaul. For every couple of months, I kept receiving notices of an increase in storage unit fees. Until, I demanded to see my contract with the verbage justifying this reason. However, the last couple months I noticed after the change in management, I never received another notice. Also, I noticed the access to the building and security was upgraded. This was good. On the contrary, it would have been nice to have at least 24 hr. access, considering I had two units at the same time, in addition to a Ubox. If there is anything Uhaul can improve on, is offering discounts and benefits to customers who have multiple products/accounts, including time invested in services. I had three types of storages and rented all the vehicles within a 3-6 months spand. A little more TLC to your faithful customers is suggested. Also, when services or products are not avaliable, offering alternatives to accommodate customers is an area of need. Regardless if the facility is an independent franchise, it is still Uhaul. I experienced a few occasions a vehicle was not available. Or when I was inquiring about storages, there was no assistance in locating another facility when none were available. I had to leave the counter and go look for another. I ended up waiting until one came available. Getting a little more assistance with finding an available location or being referred to the general number was better than just being turned away. Due the lack of available storage units during the pandemic, I was forced to use this location. Its a very large facility and access to it felt intimidating at first. As a biz owner I've leased storage units all over the country. However, Mr Garrett & his Uhaul staff are truly the best I've ever worked with. They were very caring & accommodating to my needs even when I fell behind paying my unit fees. They really worked with me & offered me reasonable solutions unlike some storages companies who try to gouge ppl with late fees, etc. Again, I want thank you so much Mr Garrett Sr & Jr. I really appreciated your customer service and everything that you & your staff did for me. It was challenging this time, but I had your staff support so I made it through because I received a notice of cancellation the morning of my move. I was shook because I didn't cancel my storage reservation. I cried. Customer Service KaTiffany worked diligently to locate me another unit, she was professional and polite & actually worked to calm me down and get the job done. I can't thank her enough because my move would not have happened if I didn't have no where to store my things.

The staff was amazing from greeting to leaving. I had a special request for a particular service and the Manager Brain was able to assist with that. Later while purchasing items for my storage unit and move, certain items weren't in the system. The team was able to ensure that I was still able to get what I selected. Later I was walked over the the check in/out system and instructed on how to use it. Lastly, I was walked to the elevator and shown how to properly operate that as well. The entire team made me feel confident in using the equipment and getting in and out after-hours in a safe manner. White glove service all around.

TIS PLACE HAS BIG RATS!! I rented a unit on 8/22/22. Unlike EZ Storage I did get to see the actual unit space cause they only show the model in the office. When I did see the space there was a huge rat trap inside which caused concern so I asked did they have rats in the place. I was told no but the traps are placed there as a preventative measure. I came 2 days later to move items inside only to be confronted by a huge RAT not mouse. I called to ask about refunding my money since I never occupied the space & was told no & was moved out of the system on 8/31/22. I've rented many trucks from this UHaul & have always had a great experience with the staff & facility until this. I'll continue to rent trucks from them but NEVER a storage unit from this place.

When my mom had to suddenly move you all were ready and available. This is by far the nicest, well kept, clean storage facility I have ever encountered. It always smelled freshly mopped and clean. I appreciate how well lit the facility is so I never worried about my mother's safety when she would visit her storage unit without me.

Very stressful to move in and out of. The check in code system was the most stressful and difficult to understand. Long lines. No one is there to answer questions. Backing up a u haul truck into a small space without any experience is beyond impossible, tried to ask for help and was denied. Uhaul unit of storage was smaller than asked for. I asked for 5×7 unit but when measured with a measuring tape it was a whole 2 feet off. It was a 5×5. The prices were much higher than the quotes online and the storage until prices were raised a month into using it. Very unhappy with my service will not use again.

The facility did major construction right next to my unit without any provisions/protections for dust. All of my belongings have a thick layer of concrete dust and pebbles from construction contractors jackhammering through a brick wall. There were constant false alarms going off that were nerve-wrecking. I believe a 20 percent late fee is exorbitant. Finally, when renting a truck on move out day, the counter associate sat there eating Flaming Hot Cheetos while checking me out-red powder on hands, moving slowly, no sense of purpose, no eye contact. It was very poor customer service experience.

West Baltimore staff is the best staff there ever was in storage rental. Cleanliness, security, including knowledge in u-haul truck rentals & tow hitches. Very helpful & knowledgeable about the u-haul rentals process, insurances & moving supplies as wellas shipping costs/containers. For any problems I had, they solved them with all fairness & understanding with respect. By far the best u-haul facility ever! By far the best u-haul facility ever!

The staff was wonderful on site and helpful but this was the worst moving experience of my life I'll never use Uhual again. They messed up my storage unit reservation costing me $300 extra dollars and hour upon hours of time with my paid movers that were suppose to be in and out. Changed my unit 3 times while I was on site moving things back and forth! none of them were correct! I ended up paying for two separate units that are not what I needed for my items due to lack of availability and communication from last who made my reservation initially. 0 stars if I could.

The facility was always well lit and looked and smelled clean. It felt safe and the hours were convenient. The manager always went out of his way to assist me with any of my needs. Very nice. The customer service was consistently good. My only complaint is that the office sometimes seem short staffed, resulting in excessively long waits to check out or speak with someone.

I was told I wasn't allowed to use my own lock, hence i bought the lock from Uhaul. 3 months later showed up to remove my items, and was told i needed an access code - never received access code. Had to leave as there was no manager to help Showed up again , they said that I would have to cut to lock that I bought from them. Which w as 50$- more money down the drain. Had to leave no manager on duty yet again. I called and emailed the manger Daniel Frankfor over a week no return answer, stating we would be there on Thursday 23 to pick up storage item When We got there , the personnel had no idea where the manager was again. I finally had to call the main 1800 number , and explained that the place was holding my goods hostage. Thank you to Clarence Vincent & RT Williams , manager supervisors, for helping me get my goods out of storage I feel I should get at least a month fee back for sitting in traffic three times wasting fuel and having to leave and not able to get my belongings . Don't store your items here until there is a manager that actually does his jobs and can train their personnel appropriately to help customers

My space was secured with a plastic lock. I was able to get in despite not having scissors, but you may want to inform people that they might want to bring scissors to their new units. Also: my space has a window which is crumbling from water damage along the lower sill. I am hoping to use my space to store books; if the water damage is ongoing this will quickly become unacceptable. Finally: the restroom area on my floor smells excessively of mold. Not the restroom itself, but the floor in the restroom alcove. It's disgusting.

The problem with this storage unit is the price. There are EXTRA FEES you have to pay. So I had 3 units in total costing me $149 a month (which increased EVERY FEW MONTHS) in total. I emptied 2 units which only left one but was told because I left a few items in them, I would be charged the full price until I went back and emptied them completely. I returned to do that but found that one of the units had another person renting it. I was told they would remain empty/ unoccupied until I returned and "it was not their policy to empty units out". Obviously, this wasn't true. I was still charged the full price for three units for months, instead of just one unit which I wanted to keep. The manager was over this and kept the charges. This place is NOT RECOMMENDED by me even though they are the cheapest priced storage place around.

You are fortunate to have such helpful and dedicated employees as Shatoria ! We are planning to rent additional climate controlled units when they become available and wish unit availability was easier to assess. We like the unique facility and staff very much so far ! The moving process was very stressful. It was not explained during the reservation that you only have one elevator to use , and that you need to Purchase a lock for your unit. I ended up having to pay an extra $379 for my movers because of the time that it took me to get my Property to my unit. This was very stressful and almost became physical. Upon a person's reservation you guys should explain the whole process so that no one is surprised by anything that may happen. I will not and do not recommend your facility to anyone. And as a matter of fact I will never use this Facility again!!! Now that I have had that experience, the next time I Need a storage unit I will definitely purchase a ground unit. Get it together u-haul!!!

I am impressed at the conditions and cleanliness of the facility. I wasn't expecting to see it as clean. I also appreciate the covered docks which protect from the weather during loading and unloading. The check-in process was a bit tricky at first, and although it can get tiresome to have to enter one's access code at every step, I do appreciate the security that this process provides.

You charge me 100 dollars for just putting out items I did not want and I saw other people items there also such as mattresses, tables etc and I thought it was a space to put unwanted items. I was not informed that i would be charged a fee. It was not in the contract. I always paired on time and I needed the extra money you charged me. Too many problems with the elevators going up to the 7th floor.plus my storage fee went up. In addition I was given a damage truck and was told to go buy oil and put in truck your van and trucks should have been inspected

I can't recommend this facility enough - mostly because the staff goes above and beyond at every opportunity. Steve was the manager I dealt with, and he was always professional, giving excellent customer service. If I ever need a storage facility or rental again, I will come here. Moving and having personal belongings in storage is so stressful - this team really did a great job in making it as stress-free as possible.

I accessed my unit maybe 5 time in the year I had it. The elevator was broken 3 of the 5 times. When I went to get my belongs and close my account the elevator was broken. It took 2 hours for me to make 2 trips up and down. This was a huge inconvenience as i was on a strict time schedule. I'm sure staffing has been impacted by Covid. However, your staff remain courteous, helpful and responsive. Sunday, January 8 when I signed out of my rental there was only one young man on staff. In spite of a long line, a customer on the phone and the need to address a customer at a storage unit, he remained calm, courteous and efficient. He is to be commended.

my experience today moving in was very challenging. There was a clear staff shortage, so the front desk person made several mistakes that delayed me from accessing my unit for up to 90 minutes. When I eventually received my unit, I got a 5x5x7 unit instead of a 5x8x10 unit. This forced me to throw out the rest of my furniture that did not fit. Knowing that I can not afford to come on weekdays with my demanding COVID workload at the hospital. I'm still being charged the price of the 5x8x10 for the 5x5x7. I kindly request an arrangement the is fair and compensate for the loss of my furniture and time. That being said, I was to leave an outstanding review for Mark S., the U-Haul employee, and helper that took ownership to help me out with the mess.

I needed more space than what my unit was. I wanted to buy another unit because my movers were packing my unit. I was trying to avoid paytmy movers additional money. I asked if I could rent another. The young lady at the desk said there weren't any left. I went to my car to look for myself. I found what I needed. So I rented an additional unit easy! Thank goodness I checked for myself. Shame on her. Why would she lie? Bad for business.
