A simple "hi" to acknowledge that I'm there would've been nice, but I guess they skipped that part in their job training. Had to grab their attention just to ask a simple question. Wish I could get paid to ignore people and gossip on the job while sitting down. Some gangly white dude took my keys in the parking lot and made a comment about how I was blocking in a FedEx driver that they let park in the dropoff bay 40 feet away. As if that's my problem. Had a feeling if that weren't the case I would've just sat they're anyways, so I'll take it. This site is unprofessional, unorganized, unfriendly, and honestly only in business because there's no alternative nearby. Absolutely dreading having to use this location again just because it's close to me. Can't believe this place isn't still making crackers with how flat their service lands.
Michael B.Trying to locate a phone number for this location to talk to an actual person is not easy. Google Maps doesn't always show your location and or business info. I use your vehicle rental frequently and have been impressed each time with the staffs vigilance over the New Center location. The owner is on top what's happening there. I've personally observed his skill and calm assertiveness while dealing with the day to day responsibilities that come with business ownership, t This guy gets it, and the store shows it! BRAVO
John M.Truck had garbage in the cabin when I picked it up. Drop off experience was poor too. Staff was rude, didn't communicate process (left me standing there), and recklessly moved my truck to a different location in the lot. I could hear the tires squealing as he accelerated around a turn. Was pretty shocked by this. Had to hunt him down to make sure I was good to go. Great prices, but might not be worth it next time.

But the attendant said we look for another code and pointed on receipt. WTH? How would I have known ? This was the first poor experience I've had at this location . 10 out of 10 times I have an excellent experience using the location on Baltimore . over a dozen times in the last few years probably closer to 20-30 times I've been to this location. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the service this time.
Jyna M.When I picked up the truck the gas tank was empty. Gas light was on. I made it to the nearest gas station and put $60 in it. This brought it to a half tank. A shame that I had to almost double my payment just so I could leave the parking lot basically.

jennifer F.Assure adequate staff are present, have staff walk through the full rental process, such as gas replacement, hours, etc. The confirmation text specifying the time the truck was due for return came through while we were en route to return the vehicle, which suggests a significant delay. Before driving off with the vehicle and when checking in, there needs to be a bit more attention or courteous service. Everything felt like the customer was on their own, and maybe that is the approach, but there needs to be more balance.

LaQuanda H.This was my first time at this location. I booked a truck online, approached the counter, was not greeted and was immediately told I'd need a credit card for the pick up truck. From here on out my girlfriend and I were treated like crap. I asked if we could do cash, dumb question but a week of stress from moving will do that. He gave a rude remark back which was I replied I wasn't trying to make his day hard and he told me I was. We left only to find out you can rent trucks w debit card just has to be 10ft or bigger. The gentleman never mentioned that. I'm in the worse situation possible as I have to be out of my place in 48 hrs so I'm counting on the reservation. Then I go back to talk with another gentleman who has 0 personal skills and not only didn't help or offer any assistance to the product they're selling and proceeded to tell me they had 10ft trucks. We leave again, this time maybe for a maximum of 10mins. Since I'm dealing with terrible service I take things into my own hands and go on uhaul.com and try to book a new reservation for a box truck just seeing if a miracle happened and the employees were just incompetent. Turns out there was a truck and the reservation went through. So we head back and now are talking with the First Gentleman. He immediately makes a comment when we're at the counter that we got lucky and took someone else reservation that was booked. Beyond rude and how in god green earth did I choose to take another persons reservation!? He's just being completely rude at this point. The rest of the process went through smooth because it was after hours when we returned and didn't have to deal with any employees. The First Gentleman I mentioned was a tall man with thinning hair on the top and a pony tail. I never wrote reviews or give feedback like this because I know sometimes it's just a bad day but this was pretty bad I n my experience with anything customer service related. Especially when your dealing with moving, and trying to guarantee things are on time.

Toshia D. | Expérience généraleNot allow cargo vans to be reserved and paid for with a debit card. I specifically needed a smaller vehicle for the overcrowded narrow streets of Hamtramck. Not a good customer experience to complete the self-pick-up in the app, only to go thru the process again because a credit card was needed for the cargo van which I do not have. Leaving me stuck with a larger truck that I specifically did not want. Also the ignition was extremely difficult to turn - had to wiggle the key around to find a sweet spot. Very frustrating while moving, and I believe most will agree that moving is not a fun process.

The dolly seal to charge people was already broken when I got into the truck , and the driver door felt like it doesn't close all the way for some reason , like someone had broken into the door in the past

Robert M.There were multiple issues with STORING MY POSSESSIONS there. First, management was NOT HONEST with how my units were handled. They TOLD ME that they did not EMPTY OUT UNITS THEMSELVES. THAT WOULD BE UP TO THE RESIDENTS. However, when a unit I had (I had 3 units) was checked, it had been cleaned out (by them) and was re-rented (unbeknownst to me). Secondly, the place was A MESS during CONSTRUCTION. The elevators usage was atrocious and management was absent. Thirdly, they charged for even the minor things like THROWING OUT ITEMS. I WOULD NOT recommend this place. If this is a representative of U-HAUL, I would use another company, such as PENSKI.

The store was really clean however the van had dirt on the inside and the van was really dirty on the outside. The customer service guy should not address customers but their first name with Mr in front of it. (Mr First name) is not only inappropriate and insulting but unacceptably inappropriate! I will never rent with Uhaul again and this company should be lucky I don't file a harassment lawsuit. I'm sure this will message will not reach anyone of importance so I'll be following up with an email to Uhauls corporate office.

The only bright spot about this rent was the patience and calmness of the clerk (Douglas) during the initial process. Amanda M.My only problem was the extraordinary length of time I spent at the check in desk. My original customer service person was Jamal and although he was nice he seemed swamped with multiple concerns and issues. There was a fire alarm that had to be shutoff and he had new employees checking people in and had to walk them through the process while trying to attend to the alarm and other things. But otherwise he was very knowledgeable and friendly.

NOTE: I am a returning customer; 2021 and 2023. On a personal note: Although I do not like having to store away my things - again, I - do - appreciate the services U-Haul provides which helps reduce the stress of this experience.

Brenya G. | Online Move InI loved that it was indoors, and I did not experience any property loss due to theft or rats.. but a few times I came lights were out, and it was super creepy ...and the elevator needs to be replaced, literally it was down more than once and I had to walk up to my unit like 8 huge flights of stairs, I was in pain after that and it would be helpful if there was more than 1 elevator it gets so crowded so quick. The staff was nice so no complaints there. If the elevator wasn't so old it would be a 5 for me, but it's old and unreliable so I would not recommend in case anyone needs to access their unit, you may be out of luck. Those stairs to the 6th and 7th floors are horrible.

A couple times there was a cockroach in the 4th floor hallway. I was always worried people are would be in my stuff in the storage unit. Sometimes you find something in your unit that you realize you don't need and you have no place for it. Having to take it off site isn't always easy, especially if you picked up other things, and now you have to find a place to dump the item.

I had a truck rented and a delivery scheduled, but was unable to move in due to the only elevator being broken with no estimated time of repairs. I had to rent another storage unit at a different facility. Called to try and get my rent refunded and no call back.

When my company first wanted to rent a unit long term, the owner went out of his way to make sure we had enough access cards and 24hrs access free for the first year. My first thought about 24hr access was - no need for that. But we needed after normal business hours plenty of times and it was well worth the money. Last day of rent I seemed out the owner to shake his hand and look him in the tonsay thanks for the great service.

I was there a lot, moving out of my facility over a five-week period, and they always tended to my needs as soon as possible and knew exactly what they were doing. It was super easy getting in and out of the facility and renting vehicles as well--which I did three times. The location--right off the Lodge Freeway--is also superb and easy to get to. I would highly recommend U-Haul to anyone who wants to use them for storage.

Ricky H. | Premières impressionsSome of the questions I answered were not exactly yes. I was engaged by the Baltimore-Detroit location for at least two years. Prior to the management changing, I would have said no to at least questions 1, 3, 4, 6. Prior, I was annoyed with Uhaul. For every couple of months, I kept receiving notices of an increase in storage unit fees. Until, I demanded to see my contract with the verbage justifying this reason. However, the last couple months I noticed after the change in management, I never received another notice. Also, I noticed the access to the building and security was upgraded. This was good. On the contrary, it would have been nice to have at least 24 hr. access, considering I had two units at the same time, in addition to a Ubox. If there is anything Uhaul can improve on, is offering discounts and benefits to customers who have multiple products/accounts, including time invested in services. I had three types of storages and rented all the vehicles within a 3-6 months spand. A little more TLC to your faithful customers is suggested. Also, when services or products are not avaliable, offering alternatives to accommodate customers is an area of need. Regardless if the facility is an independent franchise, it is still Uhaul. I experienced a few occasions a vehicle was not available. Or when I was inquiring about storages, there was no assistance in locating another facility when none were available. I had to leave the counter and go look for another. I ended up waiting until one came available. Getting a little more assistance with finding an available location or being referred to the general number was better than just being turned away. Last, it was great having consistent employees present. There were 3 men, who were my "go to" for assistance. They were the face of Baltimore-Detroit location. Otherwise, my experience overall not bad at all!

Its a very large facility and access to it felt intimidating at first. As a biz owner I've leased storage units all over the country. However, Mr Garrett & his Uhaul staff are truly the best I've ever worked with. They were very caring & accommodating to my needs even when I fell behind paying my unit fees. They really worked with me & offered me reasonable solutions unlike some storages companies who try to gouge ppl with late fees, etc. Again, I want thank you so much Mr Garrett Sr & Jr. I really appreciated your customer service and everything that you & your staff did for me. Later I was walked over the the check in/out system and instructed on how to use it. Lastly, I was walked to the elevator and shown how to properly operate that as well. The entire team made me feel confident in using the equipment and getting in and out after-hours in a safe manner. White glove service all around.
