Despite doing online pick up, vehicle info wasn't correct and took 20 mins to get out the door. Followed by a prolonged return process for the same issue. The man who checked us out was wonderful - the rude attendant in the return lot not so much.

The actual U-Haul staff were wonderful, very professional. The moving partner I hired from the website, Homeward Bound Logistics, was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in any capacity. Their towing vehicle was a Hummer, they didn't listen to anything I said about what to pack and what not to (ended up packing all the wrong things and I had to unpack the containers myself the next day to find all my clothes I needed for 2 weeks) but the worst part was the careless way that they packed our things. They simply chucked all the stuff in the containers with no regard or order. It was total chaos and I cannot believe I spent $2500 for their services. They also made it harder for the U-Haul location I worked with, as they brought two containers from a different location, parked them outside of the warehouse overnight with all our things in them, unlocked, and didn't tell anyone at the U-haul warehouse so we couldn't find two of eight containers for a while. The unprofessional work of these guys was just beyond the pale. Worst experience ever. U-Haul, please take this "company" off of your partner list.

I had made a reservation for my UBox to be shipped from this location to another location several states away. Unfortunately, because of a mistake, it ended up not being shipped. I only found this out on the day my UBox was scheduled to arrive 17 days later, and someone else's UBox ended up being delivered to my new location. I was contacted by the local office at my new location, but did not hear updates on the shipment of my actual UBox until I called the Detroit location 3 days later. I wish there had been more transparent and effective communication about the error, and/or updates on how it was being rectified.

I would have liked to have been able to get a larger space for the money paid. I ended up having to pay for 2 units with no discount and I purchased a truck rental as well

The facility did major construction right next to my unit without any provisions/protections for dust. All of my belongings have a thick layer of concrete dust and pebbles from construction contractors jackhammering through a brick wall. There were constant false alarms going off that were nerve-wrecking. I believe a 20 percent late fee is exorbitant. Finally, when renting a truck on move out day, the counter associate sat there eating Flaming Hot Cheetos while checking me out-red powder on hands, moving slowly, no sense of purpose, no eye contact. It was very poor customer service experience.

All was well until I came back to look for my car keys I suspected I left in the truck. I asked the man I left the truck with but he refused to look up at me?? And said “I have no idea what your talking about”. Well, if he would have simply looked up from what he was doing, he would've saw that I was the same person that dropped off to him 10 mins ago. The truck was even still in the same drop off spot, with no other trucks in the drop off location. I have unforgettable features (tall, lots of tattoos, bright red hair, can't miss me). He just did not want to be bothered.

West Baltimore staff is the best staff there ever was in storage rental. Cleanliness, security, including knowledge in u-haul truck rentals & tow hitches. Very helpful & knowledgeable about the u-haul rentals process, insurances & moving supplies as wellas shipping costs/containers. For any problems I had, they solved them with all fairness & understanding with respect. By far the best u-haul facility ever! By far the best u-haul facility ever!

When picking up my U-Haul. I needed to rent a dolly I was told that there wasn't any dolly's available. But they had 8 dollys in there cage. Im not sure reason I wasn't able to rent a dolly. Maybe because I was driving across the state. So I was told must purchase a dolly if I needed one and I which I paid almost a $100. By far worse experience I've had with U-Haul and I've rented many trucks from you guys. Next time I move I'll definitely be looking elsewhere.

When I picked up my 10' Uhaul truck, there was a warning signal on the truck since one of the tire sensors was off. When we asked them to check the tire pressures they were off balance. Our trip was from Detroit to San Diego and we wanted to make sure we didn't run into issues on the road. When we asked if they could adjust the tire pressures on all wheels before they trip, their equipment to do that was out of battery. We had to go to a random gas station ourselves, buy a tire pressure measuring device and fill the tires up ourselves. We drove with the warning light on the entire trip since the guy at uhaul said that it couldn't be fixed, and made a note of it on the account. My expectation is that the uhaul vehicles are inspected prior to use from a new customer driving cross country and that was not met. It created delays on our move which we had planned months in advance.

I returned the Van and I was met by Clarence Boyce he jumped in the driver's seat smoking a cigarette while I checked the passenger side he told me the vehicles cleanliness was unacceptable and there would be a cleaning fee I told him I'd take it and clean it out he proceeded to tell me if I gave him a few dollars he'd clean it . Very uncomfortable situation while having a credit card on file.

when i picked up the truck, the man who give me the key told me to check the miles and the fuel in the truck to be insure that is in quarter and return the wit fuel at quart. and i checked the indicator at the receiving was at the quart exactly and after i finished the truck i fueled it to the quart. but i shocked when i drop off that they charged me by 20$ because it should be at 5/16. and it is no fair that i put fuel more than i consumed

The rental truck was absolutely filthy/dirty/nasty.And I got overcharged for 4 miles , in which was never used.Only 3 miles was used.No one is trying to help resolve this issue from this morning.And the person that I dealt with in the store is the one that overcharged me , and she was rude over the phone as well .For those reasons, I Can no longer do business with uhaul anymore.

The staff was wonderful on site and helpful but this was the worst moving experience of my life I'll never use Uhual again. They messed up my storage unit reservation costing me $300 extra dollars and hour upon hours of time with my paid movers that were suppose to be in and out. Changed my unit 3 times while I was on site moving things back and forth! none of them were correct! I ended up paying for two separate units that are not what I needed for my items due to lack of availability and communication from last who made my reservation initially. 0 stars if I could.

The facility was always well lit and looked and smelled clean. It felt safe and the hours were convenient. The manager always went out of his way to assist me with any of my needs. Very nice. The customer service was consistently good. My only complaint is that the office sometimes seem short staffed, resulting in excessively long waits to check out or speak with someone.

The front desk lady was very lazy. Every questioned I asked was NO. I asked her to transfer me to a bigger storage unit. She lied an said they didn't have any when they did I walked past many empty units that was bigger then the one I originally got. I asked the lady could she check her system she said NO. I asked to speak with someone over her she finally got up from the chair and checked the system an sure enough there were many units available. The bigger unit she gave me was taken by another customer so she had to transfer me again. I also kept asking her for a keycard she kept telling me NO that out of state people don't get key cards on in state people which made no sense too me at all considering I've rented many storages an never once heard of this

There was a computer issue that delayed picking up my equipment by an hour. The rep that was helping me was very apologetic and calm but the tech issue was very frustrating. On another note there is a low hanging piece of industrial equipment in the store in a main walking area. I was walking while reading a paper and smacked my head on it. I'm a tall person so this isn't new to me. There is a small watch your head sign but I think a merchandise display or something could be set under the obstruction so you'd be forced to walk around and this won't happen to anyone again,

I brought the truck back exactly as it was on gas and I mentioned to the employee that it wasn't marked right when i took and he said don't worry about it, but the still robbed me for 67 in gas. What a ripoff

I called Uhaul on 6/24/22 and requested to access my Ubox on 6/26/22. I called Uhaul again on 6/25/22 regarding confusion about two different contracts with two different balances under my account (one stating that I didn't make any payment, which I already had). They told me to discuss with Uhaul when I access my Ubox on 6/26/22. I showed up at 9am to access my Ubox in Detroit, MI on 6/26/22 and waited an hour in line to be served. The worker was not aware that I was supposed to access my Ubox despite me calling on both 6/24/22 to request access and 6/25/22 to confirm. I also told him about the two different reservations, explaining that the customer service representative on the phone advised me to have him straighten it out, and he stated that he was unable to help me. This has been a terrible experience. I got three different stories from three different employees and have not reached a resolution. I have used Uhaul for two previous cross-country moves. This will be my third and last move with Uhaul. I will never use your services ever again after this experience.

I was told I wasn't allowed to use my own lock, hence i bought the lock from Uhaul. 3 months later showed up to remove my items, and was told i needed an access code - never received access code. Had to leave as there was no manager to help Showed up again , they said that I would have to cut to lock that I bought from them. Which w as 50$- more money down the drain. Had to leave no manager on duty yet again. I called and emailed the manger Daniel Frankfor over a week no return answer, stating we would be there on Thursday 23 to pick up storage item When We got there , the personnel had no idea where the manager was again. I finally had to call the main 1800 number , and explained that the place was holding my goods hostage. Thank you to Clarence Vincent & RT Williams , manager supervisors, for helping me get my goods out of storage I feel I should get at least a month fee back for sitting in traffic three times wasting fuel and having to leave and not able to get my belongings . Don't store your items here until there is a manager that actually does his jobs and can train their personnel appropriately to help customers

the U Haul facilities need to train more people to use the fork lifts, not have just one person doing the job at each facility. . two people with experience should be there , one from 7 am to 3,3 pm and the other from 11 am tp 7 pm so that the dahy is fully covered Monday through Saturday and one person on Sunday until 3 pm. This will be good for a facility like the one on W.Baltimore Street in Detroit. This will avoid people having to go 4 times due to lack of trained forklift staff. thanks

My space was secured with a plastic lock. I was able to get in despite not having scissors, but you may want to inform people that they might want to bring scissors to their new units. Also: my space has a window which is crumbling from water damage along the lower sill. I am hoping to use my space to store books; if the water damage is ongoing this will quickly become unacceptable. Finally: the restroom area on my floor smells excessively of mold. Not the restroom itself, but the floor in the restroom alcove. It's disgusting.

Gas was an issue. The tank was supposed to be 3/4 full. It was not. We had to fill the tank. I feel like we should have been somewhat reimbursed for the cost. Paid 5,45 per gallon.

I got an email that my rental was 24/7 truck share. I get to the location and click that I'm ready to pick up my rental and it says I have to wait for the location to open. The location opened 5 minutes late even though the employee knew there were people outside waiting. Upon return, the return checkin person did not even acknowledge I had pulled in. I waited 10 minutes to be helped when he was outsidethe whole time. Then he spoke so mumbled I couldn't understand what he was Saying at all. Non existent customer service skills from him.

First off, the movers I found via U-Haul never showed and I have no idea if or when I'm getting my money back. For U-Haul itself, I would return if I knew for a fact that when I arrive, my vehicle will be there for me to pick up on time. We spent 20 minutes walking back and forth, in and out trying to locate the correct key and then matching van. It was disorganized and I was panicking that there might not be a vehicle for me to take. With movers expected on the way, it was very stressful. However, they gave me extra time to bring back the van as a courtesy for the craziness which I think was great customer service.

The problem with this storage unit is the price. There are EXTRA FEES you have to pay. So I had 3 units in total costing me $149 a month (which increased EVERY FEW MONTHS) in total. I emptied 2 units which only left one but was told because I left a few items in them, I would be charged the full price until I went back and emptied them completely. I returned to do that but found that one of the units had another person renting it. I was told they would remain empty/ unoccupied until I returned and "it was not their policy to empty units out". Obviously, this wasn't true. I was still charged the full price for three units for months, instead of just one unit which I wanted to keep. The manager was over this and kept the charges. This place is NOT RECOMMENDED by me even though they are the cheapest priced storage place around.

Our pleasant initial experience was greatly influenced by the kind, capable and professional assistance by U-Haul employee Shatoria Jones. You are fortunate to have such helpful and dedicated employees as Shatoria ! We are planning to rent additional climate controlled units when they become available and wish unit availability was easier to assess. We like the unique facility and staff very much so far ! We hope U-Haul will continue with efforts to make climate control as comfortable as possible. The moving process was very stressful. It was not explained during the reservation that you only have one elevator to use , and that you need to Purchase a lock for your unit. I ended up having to pay an extra $379 for my movers because of the time that it took me to get my Property to my unit. People We're getting on the elevator trying to go down as we were trying to go up. Confusion and chaos. I even twice had to make people get off of the elevator so that I could continue to my floor. This was very stressful and almost became physical. Upon a person's reservation you guys should explain the whole process so that no one is surprised by anything that may happen. I will not and do not recommend your facility to anyone. And as a matter of fact I will never use this Facility again!!! Now that I have had that experience, the next time I Need a storage unit I will definitely purchase a ground unit. Get it together u-haul!!!

I am impressed at the conditions and cleanliness of the facility. I wasn't expecting to see it as clean. I also appreciate the covered docks which protect from the weather during loading and unloading. The check-in process was a bit tricky at first, and although it can get tiresome to have to enter one's access code at every step, I do appreciate the security that this process provides.

You charge me 100 dollars for just putting out items I did not want and I saw other people items there also such as mattresses, tables etc and I thought it was a space to put unwanted items. I was not informed that i would be charged a fee. It was not in the contract. I always paired on time and I needed the extra money you charged me. Too many problems with the elevators going up to the 7th floor.plus my storage fee went up. In addition I was given a damage truck and was told to go buy oil and put in truck your van and trucks should have been inspected

I can't recommend this facility enough - mostly because the staff goes above and beyond at every opportunity. Steve was the manager I dealt with, and he was always professional, giving excellent customer service. If I ever need a storage facility or rental again, I will come here. Moving and having personal belongings in storage is so stressful - this team really did a great job in making it as stress-free as possible.

I accessed my unit maybe 5 time in the year I had it. The elevator was broken 3 of the 5 times. When I went to get my belongs and close my account the elevator was broken. It took 2 hours for me to make 2 trips up and down. This was a huge inconvenience as i was on a strict time schedule. The broken elevators caused Me to miss my appointment which costed me extra money.

I'm sure staffing has been impacted by Covid. However, your staff remain courteous, helpful and responsive. Sunday, January 8 when I signed out of my rental there was only one young man on staff. In spite of a long line, a customer on the phone and the need to address a customer at a storage unit, he remained calm, courteous and efficient. He is to be commended.

my experience today moving in was very challenging. There was a clear staff shortage, so the front desk person made several mistakes that delayed me from accessing my unit for up to 90 minutes. When I eventually received my unit, I got a 5x5x7 unit instead of a 5x8x10 unit. This forced me to throw out the rest of my furniture that did not fit. Knowing that I can not afford to come on weekdays with my demanding COVID workload at the hospital. I'm still being charged the price of the 5x8x10 for the 5x5x7. I kindly request an arrangement the is fair and compensate for the loss of my furniture and time. That being said, I was to leave an outstanding review for Mark S., the U-Haul employee, and helper that took ownership to help me out with the mess.

I needed more space than what my unit was. I wanted to buy another unit because my movers were packing my unit. I was trying to avoid paytmy movers additional money. I asked if I could rent another. The young lady at the desk said there weren't any left. I went to my car to look for myself. I found what I needed. So I rented an additional unit easy! Thank goodness I checked for myself. Shame on her. Why would she lie? Bad for business.

Steve, the manager, and the young woman that checked me in were terrific. Very helpful and they explained everything to me very clearly. I was very very impressed. The original unit I was supposed to get, 7045, was occupied so they quickly found another unit very close, 7041, and an employee showed me where to go. When I came back downstairs the first young woman that helped me met me in the lobby to give me an updated copy of my contract which showed the reversal of unit 7045 and the addition of unit 7041. Great problem solving skills and attentive to me to not make me wait in line again to get my updated contract. Awesome. The facility was spotless and all of the security cameras and monitors, card swiping etc make me feel very confident that my belonging are secure.

Never received a key card and always had to wait in line for 30 minutes to get a access code as there was ALWAYS only one person working. Only once did the code work, got lucky and was able to get on the elevator when someone else showed up with a key card.

Quite possibly the best storage facility on the planet. I cannot think of a single thing to truly complain about. I stored a large amount of my personal items at this location for over three years, as I moved from Detroit to Europe. Many of these items were of a very high value. My property was never disturbed and the facility was always accessible and safe. The staff members were easy-going and helpful. Merci!

This facility will be very convenient, accessible during foul weather conditions with its covered loading and unloading facility. There are plenty of moving dollies available free of charge to move your personal items back and forth between your locker and vehicle. I like that the units are climate controlled especially during the colder part of the year or summer time. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you can get all your packaging needs on site. That the facility also offers U-Haul equipment on site is a plus again very convenient.

The employees deserve raised and bonuses. The employees deserve weekly pay. The access card has to be swiped too many times. There is only 1 elevator. People have to go up to seven floors for a storage unit. Some units are too small
