The service was absolutely terrible. I rented a van to move, and tried to also get a storage unit, but got nothing but barely 3 word replies to my questions from the woman at the counter. I basically was suckered into renting a van, thinking I would also have a storage space…WRONG! Not until I returned with a van full of stuff was I clearly told, though I was able to make reservations online…that there were NO AVAILABLE STORAGE UNITS! I had to come up with a backup plan fast to unload and return the van. Also…I got screwed on a lock I never received and didn't need. You're better than this Uhaul!
Dway M.Upon pickup of the vehicle, it had multiple damages that were not depicted in the photographs shown in the online inspection, so I had to upload new photographs during my initial inspection. Also, I was charged for two days' rental--the vehicle and equipment were returned the same day as pickup and keys placed in the dropbox because no staff were present in the office. Merci.

Joseph L.The problem with this storage unit is the price. There are EXTRA FEES you have to pay. So I had 3 units in total costing me $149 a month (which increased EVERY FEW MONTHS) in total. I emptied 2 units which only left one but was told because I left a few items in them, I would be charged the full price until I went back and emptied them completely. I returned to do that but found that one of the units had another person renting it. I was told they would remain empty/ unoccupied until I returned and "it was not their policy to empty units out". Obviously, this wasn't true. I was still charged the full price for three units for months, instead of just one unit which I wanted to keep. The manager was over this and kept the charges. This place is NOT RECOMMENDED by me even though they are the cheapest priced storage place around.

Vincent M.Terrible Stressful Scary it took forever and I left confused - I got there and left my truck in the pickup area. Went inside and the lady told me to leave the keys in the truck and even tho I had questions and she was unoccupied, she did not help to walk me through the drop off process. I went outside and I was very confused because I saw the signs that said don't leave until someone comes out to help. I waited hoping someone will come, then, I came inside again and i asked her for assistance and she finally called someone to help me. He came out and very harshly told me to wait inside; he is like " you want your printed receipt or not?" I went back inside he came back gave me the receipt and left (I honestly thought he was mind altered or something because he did not say a word and avoided me while I was looking my receipt and left to a room private room) I asked the lady again why I was charged another 42 dollars!? she said that I went over mi millage. I did not, I actually used 50 out of 60 and filled up the tank as well. She did not understand the receipt and had another customer screaming at her because she did not find her order in the meantime. There was no order in lines, she did not put any order. everyone was trying to talk to her and she was doing 3 or 4 things at the same time. The other guy was still in the room, she had to call him to his phone every time there was a truck outside waiting for being revised. There was no control in the traffic whatsoever, someone, almost crash into the Uhaul I was dropping - it was scary. He drove the vehicles very fast and aggressively as well. coming back to my receipt I did not understand because the rental of a truck was more expensive that 42! and I rented a dali as well. Either he or she got it wrong. Then she took a minute finally and told me that I was receiving 42 as a refund. But it was a charge! so she said go home it will take about a month for me to see changes on the fees I paid. I have two pedning charges in my card one for 117 and other for 42. - no one clarified anything to me I left so sad of how they treated me, it was Detroit, I live here but I felt mistreatment. They were rolling their eyes at least twice of how I was trying to ask them questions and double checking details. I did not mind waiting, but she did not want to help me. They have a beautiful location with HORRIBLE service. my wife almost got run into another car that was not obeying the circuit. It's a DANGEROUS location, I want my refund. I was responsible for making sure everything was in the time manner, took care of your truck, and mindfully try to navigate the situation, but I felt unsafe being there, I am sorry. you guys need to do something with this BEAUTIFUL location. Angel W.This weekend was the worst experience I ever had with uhaul services, the entry card I was given to access was never loaded correctly I walked from the elevator to the customer service 4 times before they got it right only to find out that the storage unit was too small I had to scramble to find somewhere else to store my things. I was charged for a dolly that I didn't get and when I returned the truck the uhaul app wasn't working it kept telling me my time expired so I just took pictures called customer service which was 1 hour wait on the phone to check in because there also wasn't a Dropbox to leave the keys in I had to put the keys in the glove box. It was crowded with people trying figure how to return the trucks and what to do with the keys. No discount was added for any inconvenience nor was I refunded for not getting a dolly.
lauren M.Picking up my vehicle took over an hour. I first waited in line for some time-after I got to the desk things went quickly. However, I had some questions that the lady at the desk couldn't answer and just said to ask the guy outside. She gave me the contract and said to walk outside and find the guy in the parking lot. There's no one to be found in the parking lot, so I'm walking around aimlessly until I go back inside to find someone. When I finally find him, he takes me around the parking lot searching for the vehicle on my paperwork and can't find it. So then he takes me back inside, spends a lot of time looking around, ends up back on the computer and has to swap out the car for me. He also couldn't answer the questions I had and said I could just “let my return location deal with itâ€. I get to the vehicle, and it's like the “display†vehicle…so it has advertisement cardboard all over the windshield that I had to take down, and gas tank had hardly 1/4 tank….this is the first half of the journey. I'll reply about the rest at my return location… I don't ever write negative reviews but I had such a poor experience here.

You are fortunate to have such helpful and dedicated employees as Shatoria ! We are planning to rent additional climate controlled units when they become available and wish unit availability was easier to assess. We like the unique facility and staff very much so far ! We hope U-Haul will continue with efforts to make climate control as comfortable as possible. Booking my required services was unnecessarily complicated. If I could give the UI/UX of the UHAUL website a -12/10, I would. First I was unable to select the correct services, then my card was not recognized by the site, then only 1/2 services were populating to the booking page, then I had to book over the phone etc. The box pickup was a challenge, my box was late, and the DELIVERY WAS A NIGHTMARE. I sacrificed time and money on this service expecting proficiency and organization and have been extremely disappointed. I have moved every year since 2013 and have never experienced such a terrible moving experience at such a cost. I paid for this service to alleviate stress and hassle - not create it.

I ended up having to pay an extra $379 for my movers because of the time that it took me to get my Property to my unit. People We're getting on the elevator trying to go down as we were trying to go up. Confusion and chaos. I even twice had to make people get off of the elevator so that I could continue to my floor. This was very stressful and almost became physical. Upon a person's reservation you guys should explain the whole process so that no one is surprised by anything that may happen. I will not and do not recommend your facility to anyone. And as a matter of fact I will never use this Facility again!!! Now that I have had that experience, the next time I Need a storage unit I will definitely purchase a ground unit. Get it together u-haul!!!

I also appreciate the covered docks which protect from the weather during loading and unloading. The check-in process was a bit tricky at first, and although it can get tiresome to have to enter one's access code at every step, I do appreciate the security that this process provides.
Luis M. | Premières impressionsMy past experiece with this location was not good compared to the last one. it maybe due to the recent snow storm and being under staffed, but our rental truck had not been cleaned. It had not been serviced since the last rental. The key was still in the drop box. Therefore I know it had not been serviced or clean. Normally this location has a vehicle cleaned and running for the customer to have a warm truck to begin. This was not the case. The outside was covered with snow and ice around the building. In additon due to lack of staff our dolly was never given to us and the estimated gas was all wrong. It was a bad experience, but I chalk it up to just a bad day for this location.

In addition I was given a damage truck and was told to go buy oil and put in truck your van and trucks should have been inspected

Steve was the manager I dealt with, and he was always professional, giving excellent customer service. If I ever need a storage facility or rental again, I will come here. Moving and having personal belongings in storage is so stressful - this team really did a great job in making it as stress-free as possible.

When I went to get my belongs and close my account the elevator was broken. It took 2 hours for me to make 2 trips up and down. This was a huge inconvenience as i was on a strict time schedule. The broken elevators caused Me to miss my appointment which costed me extra money.

There was a clear staff shortage, so the front desk person made several mistakes that delayed me from accessing my unit for up to 90 minutes. When I eventually received my unit, I got a 5x5x7 unit instead of a 5x8x10 unit. This forced me to throw out the rest of my furniture that did not fit. Knowing that I can not afford to come on weekdays with my demanding COVID workload at the hospital. I'm still being charged the price of the 5x8x10 for the 5x5x7. I kindly request an arrangement the is fair and compensate for the loss of my furniture and time. That being said, I was to leave an outstanding review for Mark S., the U-Haul employee, and helper that took ownership to help me out with the mess.

I was trying to avoid paytmy movers additional money. I asked if I could rent another. The young lady at the desk said there weren't any left. I went to my car to look for myself. I found what I needed. So I rented an additional unit easy! Thank goodness I checked for myself. Shame on her. Why would she lie? Bad for business.

The original unit I was supposed to get, 7045, was occupied so they quickly found another unit very close, 7041, and an employee showed me where to go. When I came back downstairs the first young woman that helped me met me in the lobby to give me an updated copy of my contract which showed the reversal of unit 7045 and the addition of unit 7041. Great problem solving skills and attentive to me to not make me wait in line again to get my updated contract. Awesome. The facility was spotless and all of the security cameras and monitors, card swiping etc make me feel very confident that my belonging are secure.

I stored a large amount of my personal items at this location for over three years, as I moved from Detroit to Europe. Many of these items were of a very high value. My property was never disturbed and the facility was always accessible and safe. The staff members were easy-going and helpful. Merci!

There are plenty of moving dollies available free of charge to move your personal items back and forth between your locker and vehicle. I like that the units are climate controlled especially during the colder part of the year or summer time. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you can get all your packaging needs on site. That the facility also offers U-Haul equipment on site is a plus again very convenient.

The unit was clean and easy to find once I got the elevator to work.

Was told everything was all set, all I had to do was return the truck, and everything would be closed out. Just got a bill for $600 the other day though, apparently they kept charging me the whole time. I guess that's what to expect from a company like uhaul. Will obviously pay the $600, but will also spend $600 spreading the word about what disgusting people you are. Had a great experience prior to the scamming. Sad.

Picked up uhaul truck 3/21 and the dark skin stocky guy made me walk all the way across the street to retrieve truck instead of him getting it like he suppose to and he didn't evaluate the truck nor the gas til I told him to. Gas was less that 3/8. When I went to return my storage card he seen me go in and out of office looking for staff and he stay in a uhaul truck textn. I walked up to the truck he was in and he just took the card and continued textn instead of taking me inside the building to get closing statement of storage. He was lazy and unprofessional. I will never use this facility again.

I still rate my experience above excellent because, the staff more than made up for the error. -They did not charge me for keeping the truck overnight -They gave me a credit for the inconvenience -Any time I've visited this location, the customer service has been above and beyond -Any time I call the telephone etiquette is above reproach Hands down, I will recommend this location!!

I never came to my storage because of fear of getting stuck. The facility itself is nice. The customers are always parked in the wrong area for loading where the uhaul trucks need to go. You have no way of asking them to move if they are upstairs. The staff always gets an attitude when you have an issue with the elevator and move really slow if you or people get stuck. It's never fully staffed. It's always one -two staff members. Wait time is always 20-40 mins. Imagine just being stuck and can't use the stairs! Do better.

True example; there was a situation of deliberate nuisance when checking out from my storage I waited in line for 8 minutes only to be told that I was standing in the wrong line,when in fact the U-Haul service employee knew why I was waiting and so did the services employee in the correct check out line because they were made aware of that fact that my storage would be no longer occupied and it was clean and that my lock was removed etc.. 8 minutes is a lot of time to waist plus another 15 to 20 minutes running back up to the third floor to take pictures of my storage room(with my phone) and coming back to the service line/ which somehow dramatically increased in customers 藍/that's not the last of it but my time can't be spent on what not to expect from a class of people in Detroit city.

Overall, hard to call ahead for info, robots and dialtones. Hard to find clear information online. No way to reserve a time to move in, so we had to wait while they moved a bunch of stuff around. All of this added ups to unnecessary time (and cost) for everyone. Even our professional movers were upset by the process. But as far as having a box that stores things, it does that. Large reliable elevator and very convenient location. Nice staff.

I'm disabled and found it very displeasing that the staff was not willing to come to me on a few visits. My only other issue is brooms and dustpans should be available and a garage cans on the storage floor Now i can say when i broke a picture frame the elevator operator told me don't worry he would get the glass up . But it should be supplies available so we can clean up behind ourselves And i feel the pricing of the storage unit is priced to high . In my case i needed it while my house was being worked on when i got the unit i figured two months. i was approaching the fifth month and could not see me paying 114 a month because the house project had been put on hold because of the virus. I said all this to say the cost of storage should not cost over a hundred dollars for any unit Had the price been more cost affective i would of keep the unit longer . The company should consider long time storage should have a lower cost .

My moving guys reported a less-than-stellar move-in experience. The man driving the truck had to wait 45 minutes for someone to move a car out of the driveway in, and said he couldn't get in without it being moved. He had to wait 15-20 minutes for people to come up and down on the elevators to get them in and out of the units too. Perhaps you need more staff during this really busy time.
