Bit confusing at first when calling a different location, then not knowing I was being transferred to a national call center, which then had to transfer me to local scheduling. Wait times were not bad on the phone, which is great, but it's a bit confusing when you're calling a local # and getting bounced around, if you're not familiar with the system. Perhaps tellings associates to the phone with their name, loation and title would be helpful. For example: Thanks for calling UHaul, this is Paul in Tempe AZ, our national call center, how may I help you? OR ... Hi this is Felicia in Tampa ... oh, you have an existing reservation reuest ... let me transfer you to local UHaul scheduling there in San Diego " ... "Hi , this is Dale, I'm your local San Diego UHaul scheduling specialist ... how may I help you?. Some script work like this, and insisting employees be consistent, would be REALLY helpful and save some frustration for a first time caller. Overall I was THRILLED with my service at the Midway San Diego location. However, I called a different local location (closer to me geographically) on Adams Ave, and I'm not sure who I spoke with on that call, but he was rather curt and abrupt. I thought it was someone at this local location on Adams Ave, but in the process of being bounced around (after not receiving the promised callback in a timely fashion, and me calling a national # to follow up) I learned about your internal "process". The next 2 associates I spoke with had OUTSTANDING customer service skills ... it just took a bit of inquiring on my part to understand how I was being routed, what the process was, and who I was speaking with. Given I had a short timeline, and recognizing it is the busiest time of year for moves possibly, I appreciated that I never waited on hold longer than a couple minutes ... but having each person, on the various 3 or 4 calls, explain who and where they were, as well as what their role was, could have streamlined the process and saved us ALL a bit of time. Again, however, I was thrilled with my service at the Midway San Diego location. Love how streamlined pick up and drop off was, love that everything is digital (pictures of damage, emailed receipts and text messages, etc). Very, very customer friendly. Will definitely book again for future needs, based on this experience.

The staff were unprofessional, and rude. I rented a van to help move some furniture - a total trip of 20 miles back to the U-Haul. Stopped to add 2 gal of gas, and was charged $16-plus for gas anyway. Made the mistake of taking a service dog for the ride. When asked if I there was a dog in the van, I, of course said yes. The staff member launched into a lecture and told me that he would have to charge me for cleaning the van. There was a small amount of dog hair on the floor. I cleaned it myself and listened to the staff lecture me about the terms of the contract, etc. I will never rent from this U-Haul again.

Everyone that works at the location is great. That being said, you guys have to explain how the mile estimate works. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that you ask for a mileage estimate when I’m sitting at the desk unable to give a good estimate instead of asking when I book the truck and have time to actually look online to see how far I’m going to go. But instead you ask when I’m there, in a hurry, with people waiting behind me. So naturally I gave a bad estimate and went over on miles and my $40 rental became an $80 rental. That’s insane. I’m sure you make a ton of money doing that to people but I’ll never use you again.

The past Sunday I showed up to the store at 9:05AM only to find at least 10 people ahead of me and a very small staff. I didn't get the keys to the U-Haul until 10AM. The process is slow and inefficient and most of the requirements could have been asked for ahead of time prior to pick-up. At no fault of the friendly staff, they were understaffed and it was apparent everyone waiting felt the same way. After I received the vehicle I had to rush to meet my hired help only to find that the dolly I paid for was not put in. Not only did I have to rent another for $20 from and Ace Hardware but I had to drive an additional 10 miles that were charged to me to pickup and drop off the dolly after use. In the future please staff accordingly to the number of reservations.

The truck was on E when they gave it to me. Actually below the E. They listed it as 1/4 on the contract and didn’t explain that there was a credit to explain this incorrect info until I returned to inquire. The truck’s dash showed that tire pressure was low and that the tire pressure monitor system was broken. Why was this rented out? This is dangerous. The staff is HORRIBLE! They ignore guests in line and chat amongst themselves until you walk right up to them and force them to help. My truck had a lock on the back and the guy who worked w me told me his coworker will be right out to take it off. Both coworkers were there when he said this. I went outside and waited ten minutes and no one came. I went back in and the man who told me a coworker will be out was on his phone. He didn’t look up as I addressed another employee and asked if someone can unlock the back. A different employee came out and helped me. The first guy never looked up from his phone. Lastly, my receipt is incorrect. I have double changes for a rental that was less than 24 hours. Why? I’d like my bill corrected and at least a partial refund for all this trouble and poor equipment.

I'm a fairly regular user of U-Haul. I usually book my reservation thru the U-Haul App. The last two times I've rented, I get about half-way through the check-in on the App, only to learn that the truck isn't ready, forcing me to go inside the office and wait in line to complete the reservation. What's the point of the App if I still have to wait in line in the office?!?

Due to the changes in the U-Haul intake systems, I would not recommend U_Haul to anyone. It took 50 minutes to process my order that I had previously input on uhaul.com. The customer agent was frustrated, I was frustrated. He had to input ALL of my info into the systems twice - was a painful experience

Somehow within a glitch in your system you guys made three extra reservations on my behalf without my authorization. That alone I spent an hour untangling with one of your operators via the phone. I came into the Midway Dr. store today to try and straighten out why I had three days of reservation because the operator on the phone couldn’t straighten it out for me and the lady there (she was nice) told me that the truck was not on the lot(??!!) from two days ago. I walked out back and it actually was on the lot! I compared my receipt notes with the model number on the truck. One of the workers there had locked the keys in the ignition so they had to unlock it with a slim Jim. Fortunately I had nothing to do with me. Very disorganized location. I spent an extra two hours of my day today untangling a mess that your workers made. That doesn’t seem fair to me. I feel I should be compensated. Uhaul did not give us the mattress covers we requested in our order, we had to use furniture pads and the mattresses were not properly covered/protected in the move. The location called me the following morning, after I returned the truck, to confirm my order for that day, so the location must be a little disorganized. The pickup process was efficient enough and returning the truck was simple. It was much more expensive than my original order but the previous receipt was deleted from my account.

I had very poor service. I had reservations in vista confirmed three days before pick up. Then one day before pickup I was told I didn’t have a trailer for Friday. Luckily Allison found one in Point Loma 45 minutes away. Had a very hard time finding the location lost for at least an hour. People at location were very nice. Called a number for U-Haul because I couldn’t find location was disconnected three times gave my never lady never me called back. It was same lady every time I called and was hold for 30 minutes each time. Gave me wrong information about location. I was getting calls everyday day when trailer was being returned when I asked for 3 days. I was very busy and didn’t appreciate getting hassled or even felt I was stealing the trailer. I’ve used U-Haul before with some issues but overlooked them but this time was awful. I don’t think I would use you ever again.

I chose not to do 24/7, I selected in store when I made reservation. My res was changed to 24/7 by U-Haul. I wanted to talk to someone. Did the 24/7 pickup, moved, and brought it back. Incompetent employee that couldn’t be bothered with doing his job standing there watching me return the truck on my phone didn’t bother to tell me the the blankets had to be folded or there would be a service charge. Went back after I got a receipt for the “cleaning fee”. Ask the incompetent employee he said it was because I didn’t fold the blankets. No I didn’t fold them because I didn’t know I needed to. He said there’s a sign on the wall in the truck. I wasn’t in the truck because I chose to use the moving helpers sold to me during the reservation process. The incompetent employee could have told me there would be a fee if I didn’t fold them.

Any change to the contract results in full repurchase, refunds can take up to 3-5 business days to return. This becomes an issue when a $230 charge is made followed by a $260, then $430. My account shows $920 worth of charges for a $430 bill. Luckily we had extra funds but in cases of limited funding someone could be in serious trouble with their financial institution. I recommend for future operations only adding the new difference to the bill ie. $230---$30----$170 this would prevent the large holds the account and still end up with a settled account of $430. Informing customers on the cdw charge of $10. Noone mentions it and I didn't agree to it but somehow it ends up on my invoice. Make it clear how and where to return items. None of the staff seemed like they really wanted to assist. Instead of letting you know you could have the rental for 24 hours they push to rent it for just a few hours.

The guys outside that helped me hitch/unhitch the trailer were awesome, very informative and helpful. I will go out of my way to go to this location over the 2 or 3 other locations I have dealt with around San Diego. The kid with dreadlocks who helped me on the computer went above and beyond. Never felt the need to fill out one of these surveys but they knocked it out of the park and had me in and out in record time. Great work.

The most lousy customer experience ever. As I was previously instructed by a Uhaul rep, the night I have arrived in San Diego from Las Vegas I left the truck + dolly at the Uhaul location in Point Loma, parking in a lot in the middle of a dozen of other trucks, and planning to return the dolly the next day 3/15. The next day at 8:30 AM I received a call while asleep that I had to remove my truck within 1 hour because it’s blocking the driveway, or else I will be charged $75 for the truck removal. So I went as soon as I could, and I saw that my truck was regularly parked together with the other trucks, the dolly not blocking any passage. I passed by later in the day and I noticed that basically all the other trucks were still there where my truck was parked, so I wonder how it could have possibly blocked the driveway. Anyway.. when I went there in the morning to detach and return the tow dolly, in the office the employee told me to wait outside and somebody will come to help me with the dolly. I waited 20 minutes and nobody came, there were 3 young employees outside chatting together, they saw me waiting there but nobody came to me. So after a while I tried to remove the dolly myself, then since nobody showed up I had to return to the office asking again what I’m supposed to do now. The same employee told one of the 3 young employees that I was the customer who needed help, and this young guy was very unprofessional, he said nothing, he didn’t apologize, he just turned his back to me. The other employee said nothing as well, she just lowered her head. I walked away without saying a word. Another young employee finally came to my help, and he said almost nothing too, he didn’t say hello, he didn’t apologize, he mumbled something I didn’t understand so I asked to repeat, he just told me that I was good to go. So I went away. It looked like nobody cared what I was doing there. In this same location in Point Loma, another lousy experience. I dropped off the truck at that location on 3/22. Later in the day, I received an email with a receipt charging me $150 for a missing tow dolly, the same dolly that I had returned on 3/15 to the same people at the Point Loma location, as explained above. At this point I got very upset, I wanted to call the manager of this Uhaul location and ask if their job is to get customers angry and frustrated, but since it was night I contacted the Uhaul call center and so I also had to spend my time disputing this charge. I have used Uhaul in the past for moving from Alabama to Las Vegas and I had a wonderful service. Also this time, when moving from Las Vegas to San Diego, the Las Vegas’ employees were very professional and attentive, they mounted the tow dolly for me, explained the ins and outs of the truck, gave me lots of recommendations for a safe travel and more. And here in San Diego, Carlos at the Hotel Circle location was an extremely friendly and knowledgeable person, he tried to help me in any way to find a locati

We had no problem picking up our rented trailer or returning it. But afterwards found multiple charges for the original transaction amount as well as others for hundreds of dollars. When we called the company we were sent to customer service where they said it was due to the reservation being extended. (Which did not happen) and that the charges would come off in a few days. Which still has yet to happen and we have been waiting for them to email the bank to proper forms to release the hundreds of dollars they put on hold AFTER the trailer was returned with NO pre warning to us that any other charge or hold was to be put on our card other than the original amount we approved.

The hitch installation was great, I have no issues. One concern, the heat shields were removed and could not be reinstalled. They would need to be modified as I read when I was shopping for a hitch. It will be extra work but it would be a good thing to have the shields modified and reinstalled, if by all means possible. Something to consider. My service at this Uhaul location was wonderful. I rented on line and chose to go inside to pick up the truck I'd reserved. The lines were very long due to high demand; it was a Saturday at the end of the month. One of the gentleman at the counter said if we reserved on line, we could use that same app to pick up our truck. However, those of us that tried this couldn't find a way to do so without creating a new reservation. Otherwise, this location is wonderful. The people who work there are extremely patient. Kudos to Anthony for excellent service when I picked up and dropped off the truck.

Original order requested a dolly and handtruck that was not loaded on the truck, and was not realized until after arriving at the first moving destination. This was a HUGE inconvenience. The following day the uhaul associate compensated me beyond satisfactory which kept a repeat customer. Kudos for her because... I was looking for confrontation and ready to lose my shit. Thanks.

My truck was not available “the customer didn’t return it” so they gave me a smaller truck, with $10 off, but it almost doubled my work. If I didn’t have 4 friend’s cars to use for the rest of my load, I would have had to make 2 trips. Also, the ‘manager’ seemed either sleep deprived, hungover, bitter, hated his job, or a combo of all three.

I had a 12pm pick up. There was only one person at the desk. No smile, was borderline grumpy. When i asked about an accommodation for the check out time , he did comply. It would have been nice if i didn't have to ask. I believe i left at 12: 45 because the associate was busy putting on a braking rig on a vehicle. Again i had to ask if the the other person who was moving a trailer by hand could get my van . He did but again I mb had to ask. When returning my van the grumpy desk associate did the return. No smile, no thank you. My friend who was with me witness the whole si called customer service transactions. Suggestion: have two people at desk during peak checkout times. There were 3 pepple behind me

I had checked in online (you stated that it would speed up the process) yet when I arrived there they still asked to make a copy of my drivers license and other info. You should also make clear that all truck rentals must be reserved, even the ones you want to pick up that day.

Hi, thank you so much. Staff & service were excellent, van worked great. I wish I'd done daily rental, it might have been less expensive, also I left paperwork at home for mileage, & didn't think I'd driven that many miles. if possible to do daily rate and save money, I would like to change that very much. The Uhaul app needed to be restarted so many times for reserving rental & for return that I initially thought van wasn't available, and later I discovered that I had put in 2 reservations, because the first reservation wouldn't complete. Then, app related, it took me almost 40 minutes to register the Van as returned, also because I had to restart the app 4-5 times. I will use service again, the people were great, trucks are great. App might needs some fine tuning, it was frustrating to use. Thank you, Kimberly

I have rented from this location a number of times and the staff is always late to open the location. The computers and systems that are used are slow and unreliable. The customer experience and speed of rental needs to be rethought - i ordered online but seemed to have to go through 15-20 minutes of entering my info again. Also, the truck had a number of parts missing or falling off inside the cab - the staff later said this truck had been stolen recently and not repaired.

Get the info right - That was a trailer not a truck - No my address is not Adams ave (use Uhaul regularly of late) that is the address of the last store I rented from, etc. - Seems like a poor computerized system, not a fault of the employees, who were fine. Over all I like Uhaul.

I was initially provided with a truck that was vastly bigger than my stated objective of needed to move a King size mattress and box springs. Rather than drive the excessive truck, a pleasant female employee placed me with a smaller and more appropriate sized van. She also allowed me to skip the long line of customers to re work the paper work and advised that she would make sure it went was taken care of so I could get on the road. Unfortunately, the truck she provided was almost out of gas so I had to immediately fill it. I made it very clear that I wanted to drop the van off at a location closer to my home. We identified a Solana Beach site at 545 Stevens A. I attempted to drop it off at this location and they advised that they do not accept drop offs, and never have. This caused a significant waste of my time as I had to drive it 13 miles south to another facility, one that I literally passed 45 minutes earlier. The receiving U haul facility was very professional and courteous. My overall experience was disappointing, except for the nice folks at U haul Moving and Storage of Miramar.

The mobile check in is a COMPLETE PAIN and a WASTE OF TIME. O ould have been in and out of there much faster by using your service reps. My truck wasn't even there when I showed up to pick it up. The mobile check in forces YOUR CUSTOMER to do all the work your service reps should be doing. Horibbly dissapointed and wasted too much of my time.

The installation of the electrical went well. But the poor system of calling to find out if it was ready and/or what time. I kept getting routed to a general number? After 4 calls, I get a text, saying we will call you when ready. I ended driving to location and the vehicle was ready 15 mons after I was there. And the trailer I rented, the passenger wheel kept loosing air. I took the trailer to location & basically I was told to call road service?
