The people who work there were no help at all. I wish I got the woman's name I spoke to on the phone for customer service she was great and I wouldn't have even been able to get into my van that I rented if it weren't for her help. The people who work Monday night are terrible and should be re trained with courtesy and manners.

DAVID AI had a bad experience at this place considering that it was not the first time I rented a truck.Yesterday I rented a truck for 4 hours, the same day the truck was returned four or three hours later. I left the truck in the designated area. When I returned the truck, a person from the State told me to leave the keys inside, which I did perfectly. Then I asked him if there was anything else I could do to check the truck. Then he told me no, that there was nothing else to do, that everything was fine. I was surprised the next day when an employee of that same branch called me on the phone asking me about the truck keys, telling me where I had left them when I had left the keys inside the truck, as the manager had told me. Then I didn't understand why he was calling me on the phone asking me about something that the employees should know about and not me. That's not all, and that's not all. A person called me on the phone asking me what time I was going to return the truck, a truck that I had rented the day before, telling me that they needed to charge me for 4 days when I had only rented the truck for four days or basically one day. So I never understood the reason for calling me. But that didn't end there. Two hours later, a person called me asking me the same question, telling me at what time the truck was going to be taken away and that if they didn't take it, they were going to charge me for four days when I only rented the truck for 4 days. It's a very logical question to ask a person about a truck when the truck had been returned the day before. So, how do you control the way people take the trucks?Uh, the guy was trying to charge me for six days or four days which I hadn't used and they tried to swipe my card many times to charge me for four days when I hadn't used the truck for four days. I only used it for 4 hours. So the trucks have GPS or what's the way that you guys can tell which truck has been returned or not returned. Someone's doing a bad job there.
NELSON CTruck broke down. You had it towed. Then you called later to say I never returned it. Then 17 days later you charged me $1100 for the experience!!!!!!!!

Harold JThe truck I was given had NO BRAKES!!! When it was loaded with furniture and you step on the brakes, the truck shook real hard and screeched real loud. My trusty contractor who helped me move would not let me drive it. He said it was too dangerous. HOWEVER, when I returned the truck and told (I forget his name), he gave me a FABULOUS discount and he noted that the truck was going to be checked out. Saivijayan SArrived and the app asked me to go inside to get the key! The location was closed. I had to reach online to find the drop box code and get my key. Took me an hour to get the car although it was supposed to be fast with mobile check in. Also the app was not working for me to check in the car status !
MOHAMED ATook over an hour to pick up my reserved trailer. Only one staff member working. Many people cancelled their reservation in line and walked out. Horrible experience.
REID MI arrived and waited at the drop of area as the sign indicated. No one came to assist so I finally went inside where two employees were sitting idly. I told them I had a return and the woman said she'd call someone to come unhook the trailer and send me a receipt electronically. When the gentlemen came to unhook the trailer from my car he didn't even acknowledge me when I greeted him. And when I thanked him for the help he looked at me like he'd never even seen me before. Quite unfriendly all around.
RICHARD LThe U-Box was not ready to go as promised. Furniture pads were missing. Went back to get 24 pads but they only gave me 12 (and said there were 24 in the bags). I ended up going to a different Uhaul location to get the correct number of pads. Overall not a great experience at this particular location.

Amy S | Expérience généraleI had reserved a trailer a week in advance to be picked up at another location. The day of I arrived they told me U-Haul changed the pickup location and did not tell me. Then I had to drive an hour to pick up the trailer at the new location. U-Haul said I could not drop off the trailer at the location closer to me, so I had to drive an hour to drop it off. Almost criminal.

MARVINFREDDY BI normally rent uhauls from the Redwood City location. But when I went to pick up the U-Haul. The attendant was very rude and honestly poor customer service. He had an attitude and rolled his eyes and talked to you in a disrespectful and unfriendly way.

RALPH GI was told on the receipt that the tank had to be delivered at 5/8ths full. When I picked up the truck it was less than half full. This necessitated me to buy gas that almost equaled the cost of the entire rental. I was only driving 4 miles over 2 hours, so I was paying to subsidize the gas usage of other rentals. This is a scammy tactic in my view.

JOSE VAs friendly and helpful as your team was, I feel that the staffing model you use is too thin. Given the traffic I see through this location, it would seem both obvious and intelligent and also economically wise to have more staff present. And they would be less stressed (and more likely not to churn) -but you'd know that if you had a lick of good business sense.
MATTHEW WCustomer service , non existent. Don't dare ask questions or change try to change your reservation, you will get a solid no we can't . Too bad Penske is so expensive . We need more competitors so staff can really work that customer service that is greatly needed at U-Haul.

HENRY PIt supposed to open at 7. I got there at 7 and I been waiting outside 20 minutes until someone finally came to open. They gave a dirty nasty van with dog hair all over . I rented it cause I needed for catering services. The worst experience ever. Of curse after I done using it I took it to the car wash. People renting the van next to me are not responsable of getting something that dirty and disgusting. When I returned it I been waiting outside for someone to come and check the van for more than 15 minutes. No one came and Decided to leave. The same Day I got charged for $133 without telling me the reason. No calls no nothing, they just did it. I was a regular customer and It's hard for me to believe that I'm coming back to this place again

GLEB FThe staff are great the only problem i had is before this rent i rent another truck maybe aweek ago sept 11 2024 i rent a truck and i ask the girl at the counter how much for the moving blanket she said $5 per 6 blankets and i was shocked cause its so cheap so i ask for 4 bags total of 24 blankets and when i returned the guy at the returned ask me wheres the moving blankets i ask why is he asking me that i purchase them he said no im just renting them for $5 i was mad because he said its somewhere 200 plus to buy all of them and i told them i will returned it just waiting for the customer to ask us move their furniture again i have moving business thats why i thought 6 pad is only for $5 im trying to get a hold of them but no one is answering the phone

PREEYA LUnfortunately I have to be honest with this review. I had to refuse the first van offered as it was filthy with no gas door. Second van I received was also filthy but i took to a wand wash and washed it myself. The interior had a strange smell in it and as well was very filthy. My hansd were black by the time I got home (2 miles) from the steering wheel. The windows were so dirty I couldn't see the mirrors clearly. I spent an hour and a half of my evening cleaning the interior and doing windows. I'm not sure if it because ofshort staff or staff that doesn't care.

SCOTT HI have used this location a number of times. I have always given it 5 stars. Four stars this time. checkout was 5 stars, equipment was 5 stars. I am giving it 4 stars as trailer was not checked back in. When I returned trailer, attendant told me I would receive confirmation via email. Never happened. It took three phone calls to get trailer checked in. Manager was suppossed to call me, never happened Mistakes happen. I am sure I will use this location again as service and equipment has always been excellent.
William DThe customer service people at the location were amazing. My issue is with the reservation process. I had a confirmed reservation foe a piece of equipment. Upon final call...the equipment I reserved was not available. I called several times to clarify the reservation and was assured there would be the requested equipment would be available. That was far from the truth and , if not for the site personnel I would not gave been able to get the needed equipment as needed. The people at the local sites are amazing and I feel very sorry they work for a company that puts them in such a horrible place to have to deal.with angry and disappointed clients.
BARBARA LHire more staff for this location. Be transparent and fair about pricing. My Uhaul tank was 1/8th full when I got to it and required it be returned 1/4 full and oferred a $0.00 refund for fuel. Thanks so much. End up waiting in line even though I completed my transaction on my phone. Put the keys somewhere else than behind the counter so customers can get to them.
Winston CI did a trailer witch worked but the ramp is not solid and the floor is not flat it has groves the equipment is on wheels so it’s a pain to load so I’ll have to find another source
DON BWas switched to this location less than 24 hours before my planned pickup, even though I had reserved a month ago. No parking available, needed to leave my persona car on side street in an industrial neighborhood. There were no furniture pads available, even though the rental stated they would be provided, so my furniture was scratched by the movers hired through U-haul. After I returned the car (overnight drop off) and received confirmation on that app I had completed the return, received a voicemail the next morning that I needed to return my rental truck immediately and that I was in violation of my agreement. When I called back immediately to share I had already returned my truck the day before, the lady on the phone said yeah it's mark as closed, instead of apologizing or calling back and leaving a voicemail that everything was okay after all. Will not be recommending U-haul moving forward.

I went into the office to speak with the rep at the counter and let him know my situation. He didn't say much but handed me a card to gain access and how to use it. I was able to get in. I was aware my unit was on the second floor, but there was no elevator. When I opened my unit, trash from the previous tenant and the top was chain link fence (not a solid ceiling) with trash on top of it. This wouldn't work for me. I went back to the office and explained I could't use a unit upstairs without an elevator. There was space on the ground floor however it was more expensive. Based on the condition of the upstairs unit, I decided this wasn't the facility for me. I thanked the gentleman and he canceled my unit. I now know why the space was so inexpensive.

After a couple of visits to the Mountain View store, I realized that they might be exceptional, but perhaps MV is just understaffed. The place was well-lit, but not the unit. Several friends who have rented storage units (elsewhere!) had mentioned to me that the properties were sketchy or located in outright dangerous neighborhoods ... or were dirty orhad leaks or a stench ... or getting in and out was a hassle ... or some combination of these factors. Then another friend told me that Redwood City often has problems with rats. I'm pointing these things out to you so that you understand the bad conditions I expected. However, this Redwood City U-Haul storage facility was much closer to my most optimistic wishes than to my low-bar expectations. Every time I visited, the place was clean and easy to access. I always felt I was safe here and that my belongings would remain secure after I left. I was impressed that staff members were only one room away (as long as I visited during regular business hours) if I had questions. On my first visit, a staff member made sure I knew where the bathroom was, which made me feel welcome. During another visit, I had trouble repositioning scaffolding/staircase, and a staff member took notice of my struggle and offered to assist me! I was more than happy with my experience here. Thank you to your wonderful staff!

He only attempted a text communication after he realized you were sending this questionnaire to me. I have been so upset, I couldn't reply till now. On the plus side it is not expensive, conveniently located, lots of space for the price and accessible 24/7, the one-month free feature is a great bonus. On the negative side the height of each space could be higher, there are no elevators if you are on the 2nd floor.

When I arrived , I was told it wasn't available, but I could have a 4x4 unit. I explained thay I had a one bed apt full of goods, and needed the bigger unit that was promised me. I was then given an 8x8(?) Unit that was still too small for my belongings. I had to get an additional 4x4 unit. Now I'm stuck with 2 payments a month. Uhaul has played bait and switch with me this entire move. From the first truck and trailer that was switched out and too small, to the storage. Also, the movers that uhaul listed ended up tearing my mattress when they forced it into the storage unit, then scratched up my dining chairs.

Got to the store to see the unit and had to wait a really long time for someone to even come to the counter, then was told that there were no more bottom floor units. I had just moved here so I didn't really have time to look for another storage unit on the spot ( which was probably a huge mistake) and decided that this would have to do. I had auto-pay set up, and even got emailed receipts, and after having just paid rent, I got a notice that our rent had not been paid and was told our unit's lock had been removed and a notice placed there as well. I had to go to the store and show the email to have that taken care of, only to find out they had lost my original lock, so I had to get another one. When we finally got a new unit somewhere else, I noticed that there were water marks on some of our things that weren't there before, so something had to have leaked or sprayed onto our things. I'm glad we were able to have at least some kind of storage for the time being, and for what it's worth, it was secure and nothing was stolen or damaged. The employees, when there is one available, are very friendly. Not super happy but it wasn't the worst possible experience.

The unit was clean enough, but we did have to pick up dinner trash and hammer down a few staples that were dangerously sticking out. The most important part was that our unit did not measure 8' by 6' which was absolutely surprising. It was 7,5' by 5,25' which made a huge difference for us. We packed up an 8x6 area at home to figure it out, and when we showed up, the unit was noticeably smaller than advertised! Why can't you just list the true interior dimensions of your units??

My rep Jailin was doing her best but she was ill, sneezing (yipes with Covid), and exhausted when she helped me this afternoon. I was promised an 8x8 unit and rolled in with a moving van and auto transporter, 1 way reservation. I had to get the car off myself, outside the lot because it was so hectic and understaffed inside the gates. And in the end... (cue the sad muzak), the storage unit I was promised was double booked. I drove for 2 days, had follow up calls confirming the unit was available just to find out I couldn't store my stuff at this location once I arrived. I'm going to use the remaining days of the use of the moving van but am very nervous about what comes after that. Please, if you would, call me so we can discuss my plan B for where to store my belongings if I run out of time. P.S. I know covid has wreaked havoc on communication and software systems and therefore not everyone has the best and latest information, but it had a severe negative effect on me during a major move in my life. Let's please work something out ASAP.
