The Manager (younger male) & staff were Super helpful. I even had to come back and look for a lost item. It was almost closing time & they helped look high & low for me. I was really impressed. Plus cost $50 for 4 hours approx & that was a deal. The phone application kinda sucks but helps in long run for insurance reasons & liability 5 

I rented an auto transport one way to drop off in Truckee and after picking up the trailer I was informed that the drop off would be in Reno, an additional hour each way. The notification said it was an "agreed" drop off location, which is untrue. I would not have rented the trailer had I known it would be an additional 2 hours to drop off. I tried to change the drop off location but the customer service and those responsible for changing tge drop off location were not helpful, continued to transfer my call as I waited on hold endlessly. I will never use U-Haul again.

My original request for drop off was moved to the 24-hr Roadside Assistance site on Arguello St. in Redwood City. I've had bad experiences there in the past and called to request moving to 2200 El Camino Real, which they did. The staff there are always very helpful, which is more than I can say for the guy at Arguello St. This was a frustrating rental experience overall. I didn't get the trailer, the pickup location or the dropoff location I requested. If you are going to ignore all my requests, why bother asking me what I want? I can understand switching to a nearby location due to unit availability, but in this case they moved me far away to get a trailer I didn't want. I only got the drop-off I wanted because I called and asked them to change it.

Get people who can handle connecting trailers to vehicles to vehicles that don't need help and know how to hook up the chains too. The young woman who assisted me could not move the trailer on her own and did not hook up the chains correctly. She might have weighed 95 lbs soaking wet. She was very pleasant, had a great attitude but was way to small.

U-Haul does need to fix one problem. Your company's software is slow. When staff has to prepare documents, a customer has to wait in-office. It took nearly one-hour for me to officially check-out of two storage rooms I rented for one month. It was not the fault of staff. Otherwise, U-Haul provides solid customer service.

The first truck I was assigned wouldn't turn on. When I went to the counter to tell them about it, the woman said "Oh, is it truck XYZ? Oh yeah, we've been having problems with that one". Then why do you keep trying to rent it out to people knowing it doesn't work safely? Fortunately I found out before I had it fully loaded in another city and couldn't move my items. The next truck they gave me had the dolly in the back. I went to check to make sure it was there, but then the back door wouldn't close. Finally, third time's a charm, I received a working truck.

My off-hour van drop was not a good experience. The self-checkout did not work as the app asked to scan the product code, and I had no idea where to find it. After 30 minutes of trying, I called the 800 number for U-haul, and during this time, it was dark in the parking lot, and a beaten-up car with two suspicious-looking men stopped by my van and stayed there, asking for the keys to the truck. Instead, I left my keys in the office front door hole, and as I was leaving the parking lot, one of the men got out the car and took away a gas tank off the main isle. It is a seedy location for a nightly dropoff.

Windows were very dirty (bad visibility) but otherwise, vehicle was good. Would've been nice to be told at pick-up time that there is no need to check-in after returning the vehicle. I dropped off the truck, went inside to check it in, waited in line 15 minutes only to be told it was unnecessary.

The office supervisor was using all of the individuals waiting to check out rentals to train a new employee. This resulted in the process taking at least 3 times longer than it would have had he done the check out himself. Obviously training is important, but once there are three people in line, I think the supervisor should take over and clear the line waiting and then go back to training the new employee on the final person waiting. Three people should not have to wait 15 min each +/- so that the supervisor can train a new employee.

The rental process is demeaning and not customer friendly: It is designed for the vendor (uHaul), and not for the customer. It irritates me every time I rent from uHaul. That said, it is a uHaul process issue, and not the location fault.

Refund, the picking up process is tough and NO DOLLY PREPARED. Absolutely ridiculous. WOULD NEVER USE U-HAUL EVER AGAIN, and definitely avoid rewood city place. I would upload my experience with the relative site. Including google map and rest social media.

I rented a truck and trailer, they made me buy my own hitch. Why? The location also didn't have the trailer I reserved 3 days before pickup date. Truck wasn't clean at pickup. Customer service is slow.

When requesting a van make sure you ask for basic suspension or a heavy duty suspension (GMC) vehicle? It makes a big difference in ride quality when not carrying a heavy load!

The automatic doors didn't work. If I didn't arrive before close, I wouldn't have been able to get in. Also, there was a rat trap in my storage unit which made me worried there might be a rat problem in the building.

I reserved my space online. When I arrived to look at the unit before moving items, the code I was emailed didn't work. I went into the office to speak with the rep at the counter and let him know my situation. He didn't say much but handed me a card to gain access and how to use it. I was able to get in. I was aware my unit was on the second floor, but there was no elevator. When I opened my unit, trash from the previous tenant and the top was chain link fence (not a solid ceiling) with trash on top of it. This wouldn't work for me. I went back to the office and explained I could't use a unit upstairs without an elevator. There was space on the ground floor however it was more expensive. Based on the condition of the upstairs unit, I decided this wasn't the facility for me. I thanked the gentleman and he canceled my unit. I now know why the space was so inexpensive.

The staff at the Redwood City store have been outstanding. After a couple of visits to the Mountain View store, I realized that they might be exceptional, but perhaps MV is just understaffed. The place was well-lit, but not the unit. I found rat feces on my stuff when I emptied the unit, but no damage worth mention. Again, kudos+ to the RWC staff!

I reserved and confirmed a medium storage unit the day before and on the day of my move in. After check in, it turns out the storage unit is still locked. The attendant told me to come back in a few days which is not feasible for me since I am coming out of state. I had to rush to the closest storage unit at Belmont, CA and have to store my things there instead

horrible experience. I found a dead rat in my storage unit and a month later someone broke into my unit and stole all my belongings. Facility manager Nicolas Lopez doesn't do his job at all, he was never available by any way - never on the site, neither answering calls, texts or emails. I didn't received any help I needed

I had never had a storage unit before. Several friends who have rented storage units (elsewhere!) had mentioned to me that the properties were sketchy or located in outright dangerous neighborhoods ... or were dirty orhad leaks or a stench ... or getting in and out was a hassle ... or some combination of these factors. Then another friend told me that Redwood City often has problems with rats. I'm pointing these things out to you so that you understand the bad conditions I expected. However, this Redwood City U-Haul storage facility was much closer to my most optimistic wishes than to my low-bar expectations. Every time I visited, the place was clean and easy to access. I always felt I was safe here and that my belongings would remain secure after I left. I was impressed that staff members were only one room away (as long as I visited during regular business hours) if I had questions. On my first visit, a staff member made sure I knew where the bathroom was, which made me feel welcome. During another visit, I had trouble repositioning scaffolding/staircase, and a staff member took notice of my struggle and offered to assist me! I was more than happy with my experience here. Thank you to your wonderful staff!

The poor rating has nothing to do with the facility. It was great. You earned this rating by not honoring my 30 day vacate notice. You tried to charge me for another month, and your site mgr., (Mr. Lopez) I think, didn't respond to any of the 4 email replies I sent him and also copied U-Haul, referencing my vacating the site. He only attempted a text communication after he realized you were sending this questionnaire to me. I have been so upset, I couldn't reply till now. I hope this is a one-off, as I hadn't experienced anything like this with U-Haul before. I highly recommend using U-Haul storage facilities. There are many pluses and some negatives. On the plus side it is not expensive, conveniently located, lots of space for the price and accessible 24/7, the one-month free feature is a great bonus. On the negative side the height of each space could be higher, there are no elevators if you are on the 2nd floor.

The hours posted online are not what there practicing. The access codes for doors don't work the access cards your given don't work on doors .the security system is below par. When you here or see u-haul logo you think American, Professional,Secure. This (Redwood City) site has failed.

I just moved out of my storage unit. My things had been there since 2018. I found rat feces and rat smell in all my belongings. My shoes and clothing are expensive and can never be replaced. U-Haul should pay to have my clothing dry cleaned, at least.

The one drawback was that my unit required a metal staircase to be positioned in front of the unit. It was a bit tricky to get in and out.

Like with everything else involved on Uhauls side of my move, things were not at all what was requested. I requested and reserved a certain sized storage unit. When I arrived , I was told it wasn't available, but I could have a 4x4 unit. I explained thay I had a one bed apt full of goods, and needed the bigger unit that was promised me. I was then given an 8x8(?) Unit that was still too small for my belongings. I had to get an additional 4x4 unit. Now I'm stuck with 2 payments a month. Uhaul has played bait and switch with me this entire move. From the first truck and trailer that was switched out and too small, to the storage. Also, the movers that uhaul listed ended up tearing my mattress when they forced it into the storage unit, then scratched up my dining chairs.

Staff did an amazing job, I absolutely loved and appreciated it! The only issue is that I can't access this storage outside of the working hours because there is an issue with security alarm setup but other than t it was great!

Reserved a bottom floor unit, and the website showed me that there was one available. Got to the store to see the unit and had to wait a really long time for someone to even come to the counter, then was told that there were no more bottom floor units. I had just moved here so I didn't really have time to look for another storage unit on the spot ( which was probably a huge mistake) and decided that this would have to do. I had auto-pay set up, and even got emailed receipts, and after having just paid rent, I got a notice that our rent had not been paid and was told our unit's lock had been removed and a notice placed there as well. I had to go to the store and show the email to have that taken care of, only to find out they had lost my original lock, so I had to get another one. When we finally got a new unit somewhere else, I noticed that there were water marks on some of our things that weren't there before, so something had to have leaked or sprayed onto our things. I'm glad we were able to have at least some kind of storage for the time being, and for what it's worth, it was secure and nothing was stolen or damaged. The employees, when there is one available, are very friendly. Not super happy but it wasn't the worst possible experience.

The instructions were great, and staff was friendly. The unit was clean enough, but we did have to pick up dinner trash and hammer down a few staples that were dangerously sticking out. The most important part was that our unit did not measure 8' by 6' which was absolutely surprising. It was 7,5' by 5,25' which made a huge difference for us. We packed up an 8x6 area at home to figure it out, and when we showed up, the unit was noticeably smaller than advertised! Why can't you just list the true interior dimensions of your units??

Hey there. Please give me a call when you get a moment. My rep Jailin was doing her best but she was ill, sneezing (yipes with Covid), and exhausted when she helped me this afternoon. I was promised an 8x8 unit and rolled in with a moving van and auto transporter, 1 way reservation. I had to get the car off myself, outside the lot because it was so hectic and understaffed inside the gates. And in the end... (cue the sad muzak), the storage unit I was promised was double booked. I drove for 2 days, had follow up calls confirming the unit was available just to find out I couldn't store my stuff at this location once I arrived. I'm going to use the remaining days of the use of the moving van but am very nervous about what comes after that. Please, if you would, call me so we can discuss my plan B for where to store my belongings if I run out of time. P.S. I know covid has wreaked havoc on communication and software systems and therefore not everyone has the best and latest information, but it had a severe negative effect on me during a major move in my life. Let's please work something out ASAP.

The dropoff spot in Redwood City was severely understaffed on Saturday. There was a long line at the desk and only three highly-stressed employees on duty. More staff would have benefitted everyone.

Our Ubox did not arrive at the Uhaul destination .The General Manager in Redwood city Nicholas was very accomadating, he took care of our box, truck and dolly. We recommend Uhaul thanks to Nicholas!
