The vehicle was full of pine needles, dog hair and the smell of cigarettes. I swept it out. The vehicle readâ€ change oil â€œ, therefore mileage was not visible, but the oil level reader was quite low. The reps were polite, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.Peter L.

No one helped us. We floundered around until we realized we could check out online. Got an extra day charge for one hour over due to not knowing what to do and waiting and a 3 gallon fuel charge. Lucky we took a picture of the gas gauge. Better signage instruction would help. Customer service was GREAT on the phone and refunded extra charges.Sandy W.

I made it perfectly clear my child had health issues and HAD to have a truck with AC. There was no AC and the trip was BRUTAL! Then they called me and woke me up the next day asking where the truck was and it was returned the day before. Staff was nice, need to watch professional behavior. Had to ask 2x for items ordered and they forgot to remind me to shut the button off on the dashboard each time you start. Would use again if needed but would check the AC!Joanne B.
Maybe this location needs more staff. Basically, I waited in line for about 20 minutes (one customer in front of me). Then the clerk blasted a bunch of questions at me, had me scan my license, then hustled me out to the vehicle. Changed my drop-off location from the one indicated on my reservation without even mentioning the change. No customer service whatsoever. No opportunity to ask questions. No information provided. While I would recommend this location to a friend, I would warn them not to expect any courtesy. My biggest complaint is with U-Haul (corporate). Your website is useless at provididng information, and your 1-800 number is a joke. Waiting 30 or more minutes is ridiculous. There is no way to get any information from this company. The location is Great. The van was clean and be in good shape. My pro me was wit your representative. Rude and indifferent . Paying no attention to detail. Wouldn't do a walk around the truck at pick-up . When asked about gas policy was impatient and told me to read the rules and became confrontational. Upon return he asked me to pay 33$ for Gas when I told him I filled to B dame or a bit more at pick up. Again rude and insulting. Not acceptable unfortunate.Henry S.

The Salem and Lynn UHaul locations have been excellent. The Salem location occasionally is understaffed. Despite only having two people on staff, the process of checking in and out went smoothly. I know it is difficult to obtain and retain employees, but having knowledgeable employees who can process requests quickly is paramount. Merci.Mark T.

I watched the guy today handle multiple customers, a long line, and do it well. This was after I had of been one of his first customers almost got in a fight with them. The customer was completely unreasonable and your employee did a fine job. I'm sure people don't wait to post a negative review, after all, if you were in a U-Haul you're not really having a good day. So I thought I would take the time to post a positive review about your excellent employee, may have been the manager , at the Jefferson Avenue U-Haul in Salem. We stayed in our truck in the drop off line for 10 minutes, two employees saw us and nobody thought to let us know we could just leave our keys in the car. Would've been nice for them to mention it before we had to ask.Mehdi K.
Excellent service Luis and Jayme were great. Efficient, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They got me in and out of the office quickly. Move from Boston to another location in Boston was so easy. My wife had a great idea because she was so pleased with Jayne and Louis. We will rent from U-Haul and avoid high delivery fees all the time. Just bought sofa at Costco and had it delivered cost $1699. With U-Haul I could pick up the same sofa in Danvers Ma for $1299. $50 or so to U-Haul. and saved $350. The people in Salem are great. Very good experience. Had to move reservation out due to personal issues and was easy to do. Only negative was my email from mass registry if motor vehicles was not acceptable as proof my license was renewed so we had to wait for another person to get their license.Craig C.

Just rented a van for one hour and drove 6 miles total. I was just charged to fill the tank, even though they said it was full when I rented. Manager wouldn't budge and blamed me. During pickup, the Manager was rude and seemed annoyed to be interacting with me. When I dropped off, the guy who helped me was nice but told me I was â€œall setâ€ once he got the trailer off the car. Turns out you need to do checkout on your phone - but I never got a text and no one told me that. I ended up having to call uhaul customer service because I never got a return confirmation and spend 30 minutes trying to get the return resolved on my account. They also charged a $5 â€œSafe Trip Feeâ€ (20 % of the total rental fee) that was not on the original quote, after also charging insurance. Overall, very poor experience that did not feel customer-focused from beginning to end.Jonathan D.

My problem was with the sales rep on the phone. She didn't realize that the storage box on the second level had access only by a stairs/ladder. It was very difficult to get into, pipes in the ceiling and a difficult angle. I wouldn't have been able to manage if my son didn't tag along last minute.
