I was supposed to pick up in Flandreau SD. That reservation was guaranteed. But when I got there, I called, I knocked, I left a messages, and I waited. Nothing. Finally uhaul called me back and said I could pick up in SF. If I had wanted to pick up in SF I would have reserved SF. I was told that because of this mixup I could drop off in Brookings. I verbally confirmed this with the gentleman on the phone and again at the pickup in SF. However the paperwork said I was to drop off in Flandreau. So I did, again no one there. The website states reservation guaranteed or you get $50 back. But of course no mention of it.ASHLEY A.

Terrible customer service. Walked in and one employee was helping a customer and another one just finished with a customer and disappeared. The other employee finished and walked away, came back and told me it would be a minute and grabbed his phone and started texting. I know this because his comment was, ok I just had to return that text. Walked in for a utility cart, and after the 20 minute wait I should have just spent the extra $25 and bought one. Went to return it, and myself in 3 other customers waited for 17 minutes without seeing a single employee.KYLE W.

I dropped off my 6x12 cargo trailer after hours, so I followed the steps on the website, which were good. My only issue - which was significant - was that the trailer kept "rolling away" after I unhooked it. The trailer had no feature like a brake or something that would prevent it from rolling on it's own. That was serious and I almost lost control of the trailer after unhooking it. This was on ground that was only slightly unlevel. That should really be noted or told to people dropping off that trailer, as it could have been a very dangerous situation. I had to go find some rocks and random wood on the ground to put under the tires so it would stay put.JORDAN H.

Double check the gas before you take the trucks. The van (20ft) I took had way less gas than the employee said it did, so I had to fill it more than they said I would to get it to where they said it was when I started. Over estimate your own milage, I went a little more than I had to because I underestimated.THOMAS M.

I only drove the U Haul 20 miles. I filled the gas tank up as I had been instructed to do. I put over 8 gallons of gas in the tank. I was told the tank was full when I started. I don't think so!STEPHEN H.
We were given a trailer covered in ice when there was a clean dry one right next to it that when we stopped the first time was for us. We had to repair the light wiring and wasted half our day then returned and was given a dirty trailer that we had to chip ice away to use. Not terribly impressed.ALLAN T.

We are always threatened with extra charges if we don't return the truck clean, but they are never very clean when we get them. The truck this time smelled bad in the cab, like dirty feet and old perfume. Also, all of the trucks should have back-up cameras as a safety feature; but we were told the "in-town" ones don't usually have them. Where is the logic there?? Overall Uhaul is just fine, but could definitely use improvement. We will use againNICOLE T.

I had to rent this cuz my trucks brake line busted and needed to pull a trailer. I was lied to about the truck being front wheel drive and that I shouldn't have a problem getting thru the snow... Well I got stuck 4 times on main roads without the trailer that were well driven on and plowed, didn't even get far enough to pick up my trailer... got stuck once in culver's parking lot as well... Didn't even get to use the truck other than to go to lunch... Got the truck and it had 1/2 tank of gas not 3/4, was never told to check it before I left just took his word on it... Well I drove ten miles total so how did I use a little under a 1/2 tank of gas?? The miles didn't match the paper and was never told to do a walk thru around the truck, was just handed the keys and told here is your truck... good thing I happen to check my text messages and did the walk around right away... The picture I took of the difference in miles even shows that it only had a half tank... So basically I was charged $20 something in gas when I didn't even get to use the truck at all, and $30 for a truck I couldn't use... after lunch I had to park the truck and didn't drive it for 23 1/2 hours of my 24 hour rental... Had bald tires as well... went back in on my quad that same day to talk about it and was just told too bad we lied to you and too bad you didn't get to use it, you drove it off the lot so u got to pay for it... Like I knew it was rear wheel drive and that it wouldn't get thru the snow before I drove it off the lot.... Never ever again will I use your company for anything not even for a moving blanket... Cost me $60 for nothing.... you all can lie to me and it's my fault huh??? Might even check with my credit card company to see if my purchase protection will cover me from your lies and fraud...Dan P.

Paid 8$ for 8 hrs with pickup/drop off same location insurance for $5000 coverage. Employee said couldn't pull empty back to Sioux Falls made me do one way drop. An extra 50$ For that But then for the same $5000 coverage was $30 some dollars extra. How does that make sense? When does a young kid employee decide what/who can do what with the rental ? Very unhappy with this transaction. Paid for tow lights in advanceâ€¦same employee canceled the transaction after doing the â€œnewâ€ more expensive contract. Staff were awesome, professional and quick to handle my pick-up and drop-off. I didn't even have to leave my vehicle to drop-off as I was guided as I backed the trailer up, staff unhooked it, and even removed my hitch at my request and set in the back of my vehicle. After a very negative experience at another local U-Haul (3512 S Western Ave Sioux Falls, SD), and a very rude agent at U-Haul customer service, it was refreshing that all the staff here 923 W 11th St, Sioux Falls, SD were great- thank you very much!BONNIE K.

1. Wash the inside windshield before delivering the truck to the customer. Overall, the truck was filthy. Had not been cleaned from the previous use. 2. Take five minutes to do a walk-around with the customer, and point out the safety features of the vehicle. Had no idea it had a transmission brake. 3. Was sold a lock for the box that wouldn't fit the hasp. Great way to soak the customer for another few bucks. Because of the value of the contents (business related items), I ended up driving around, in a small town, late at night to find a lock to secure the truck. Unacceptable. Probably my own fault for trusting the counter personnel to sell me an appropriate lock for the truck box. Won't make that mistake again. 4. Truck itself performed to expectations. Accomplished the move with few issues. Perhaps I just expect too much out of customer service. I treat my customers a bit better.DAVID S.

I was charged $35 for fuel when i didnt use any it was the same aa when i got it. I got charged $125 and then another $88 for renting a uhaul. The total should have only been $88. Wont be back. Worst experience everAUSTIN S.

The headlights on the truck were barely useable while trying to move at night. And the door locks were so hard to open we thought they weren't going to work.Jared V.
There was feces and urine in the back of the truck I rented. It was disgusting and I had to spend 3 hours cleaning it up, scrubbing it down and sanitizing it before I could use the truck. It smelled terrible. I called the uhaul location I rented from and talked to manager Eric and he said that the would reimburse me for the entire rental. I have pictures to prove it.
