1) Have the people at the desk be friendly and MUCH faster. 2) When someone reserves a box, be sure that it's ready for the time they reserved. 3) Fix the phone system so it takes less than 20 minutes to *start* calling a real person (and then hire more people so customers aren't then on hold for another 10-60 minutes). 4) Improve the delivery system so packages are delivered on time. 5) Have people who work at Uhaul record what people called and asked for (I had multiple times where I spent an hour or more on the phone to reserve something and then I called back when that thing wasn't done and they said it was never reserved). 6) Give phone operators an accurate list of departments and phone numbers. I was redirected literally over 20 times to people who I was told would be able to help me with something (e.g., "This person can help you book an appointment with a moving truck") and then they couldn't and would pass me along. Combined with the super long hold times, this means I spend hours on the phone at a time. If I could simply be directed to the correct person the first time, it would have saved so many hours of my life. 7) When the company makes a mistake, phone operators should say "I'm sorry about that" and act like they want to try to make up for it rather than act like I'm the one who did something wrong. 8) Have some sort of accountability. I have been reaching out over and over to try to get the "guaranteed refund" because my stuff was 8 days late and everyone is giving me the run-around--apparently no one is actually in charge of that. Similarly, I haven't found any means of filing a complaint about the horrendous service I've received.

Communication was very difficult at both the shipping & receiving ends with the stores and even the national number. Multiple times my order was messed up and there was confusion about what was a simple 1 u-box shipment. One example of the difficulty in working with UHaul was when the box arrived. At some point someone bolted the latches shut and made it impossible to open without tools. It took the store over 2 hours to open the box, pushing late on the move. While the employees were all nice enough but they seemed understaffed and questionably trained. The U-box did arrive on time and my items safe, so I am on the fence if I'd recommend U-haul to others because of this experience.

I very much appreciate the drop off location refunding the cost of the lock I purchased at the pickup location. I'm not sure why the associate at the pickup location suggested a lock that doesn't fit the truck.

I think the U-Box is a good, low-cost way to ship heirlooms across the country ... but U-Haul corporate is pretty terrible. Or maybe it's just the U-Box software being buggy and/or too complex for the people who handle the boxes. Most of the people I dealt with were perfectly nice and seemingly competent ... yet the day my box WAS to arrive in California, I got a call saying Ooops, it's still in Connecticut! A day or two before U-Haul Santa Clara was supposed to deliver my box, I got a call from U-Haul Watsonville saying It's Not Here! (Well, yeah, it was at U-Haul Santa Clara. But the young man who called was particularly baffled by the computer system.)

It looks great...because the location was recently renovated. The rental spaces are larger than they show illustrated online. Unless I have bad spacial awareness. I recommend you picking one that you think is good off of first impression, and then, choose the space smaller than that in actuality. You will make it work, Promise. The people there are good, they just have a few workers clocked in at a time, so cut them some slack. There is one that happens to be very knowledge and helpful, but if they all read this review, Hopefully, they will all become alike, wise, and faster on the computers & knowledgeable of their own standards and cashier handling ( if that makes sense ) I recommend you, as the Renter, to research everything you need, and then make sure you get exactly that when you arrive. Double checking always helps everybody, EVEN THE BOSS, so don't feel any type of way about it. Bring a pen, paper, camera and anything else to make sure you didnt miss anything, and/or was overcharged for mistakes. Other than that, they are good. Things happen, but they won't, if you don't

You notified me when the container was received in Florida but no one notified for many days when it would be delivered to my home. I did receive a call the day before the delivery with a 2 hour window. Overall a great experience.

Long wait to get my reserved truck. Did not give me the equipment I had rented. Employee gave me inaccurate information about uhaul site where I was dropping the truck in NYC. Told me that the destination site was open all night when it was not, causing me to drive around NYC looking for a place to park my uhaul overnight.

I scheduled a truck a week prior online from 12pm-10pm. When I arrived I waited in line for a minimum of 20minutes. Then once I was called over the kid tried to tell me that I scheduled a 2 day truck and that it would be like $168 dollars. I kept trying to get him to understand that I did not schedule that. He insisted it was me. Then another kid cane over and mentioned that someone by the name of Markel made the change in the system because one of their truck broke down and they needed to use the one I reserved. They proceeded to call Markel to see what they can do in the system and he had the kids give me somewhat of a discount. I couldn’t understand why I was getting a discount for something I did not want initially. They said it was the only way they could process it. I asked if they could cancel it and start over but they said no. I needed the truck because I was trying to help my disabled mother move. I was there for almost 45 minutes minimum. As a result, they had me walk away with a discount and unsure if I was being overcharged or not. When I mentioned that I would take this survey or call corporate they just added 10 more miles complimentary to my reservation which I didn’t even use. I still do not know if I was overcharged and it makes me really uncomftable. Why should any company get away with the neglect of doing right by their customers. The truck didn’t even have a Dollie in the back and to sum it up the truck only had half of 1/4 of gas so as soon as I pulled out of their parking lot I already needed to add gas. What a horrible experience. I’m extremely taken back. They invested so much into this location but they are doing a horrible job in execution of excellent customer service and a successful business. Lastly, when I told the kid I should not be charged if the reservation is not corrected in the system because it was Markels fault. He became very diffensive and in a very provoking tone of voice say to me several times he did nothing wrong. How is this so when they told me he’s the one who changed it.

She was professional, friendly and caring. Becky was an excellent driver. She was kind and knowledgable, helping to place the pods the best location. The cab of the truck overwhelmingly smelled of cigarette smoke. I get instant headaches around smoke and its residue, my husband had an asthmatic reaction yesterday as a result to it. We both could barely breathe while driving it. Rental equipment should be smoke free. Period. It does make us rethink uhaul for future rentals. I don't know if this is a location problem, but it is a problem I now see in several reviews at that same location. The staff we courteous and helpful, the truck was ready when we arrived. But lingering cigarette odor is unacceptable.

It took 2 1/2 hours to install, which was fine. The clerk estimated 1 1/2 hours. IF it usually takes 2-3 hours, that info would helpful. Staff were totally polite and professional.

Did not have the tools to do the job. Had to drive an hour to this appointment because now other local appointments were available for WEEKS! After waiting for an hour, was sent away with another appointment. When we told the guy how inconvenient this was he shrugged. They called the next day to come early to appointment - right away. Immediately dropped everything and jumped in vehicle to get there. Took 5 hours to complete the job. NO communication in spite of asking multiple times. They had no record that the invoice had already been paid. What a waste of time and poor service. Could have installed myself quicker. And by the way, the wait room chairs were broken so there was one working chair for all waiting. Terrible service. I guess UHAUL doesn't care because they feel like they are the only player in town.

Rental went perfectly. Problems with return. Could not log into site so we just left the trailer. I called later to make sure all was ok and was put on hold for 15 minutes. After finally calling back the phone was picked up then hung up on me. I had to call the 800 number to get help with my questions. Thought this was very rude and not good customer service.
