Upon arriving to pickup our equipment we were notified that our 20' truck was in an accident the day before and therefore not available. We were offered a 26' truck however this was too large. We were then offered for the site to call another location although the closest was over 20 mins away. We settled for a 15' truck. Next we were told the dolly we requested was also not available but we're offered an appliance dolly however that did not meet our needs so declined. We inquired about the equipment guarantee of 50 $however we're told they just need to offer a form of replacement and that they wouldn't honour the guarantee which is not how it reads on the uHaul website. Overall the pickup process was a true nightmare and we will refrain from using this location and possibly service in the future. The return process was smooth and the best part of the overall experience!SEAND B.

When short-staffed, make sure the customer will be able to locate and identify their vehicle â€" while I can understand the need for the sole employee on duty to remain in the office, vaguely gesturing down a 100-metre lane and saying the vehicle is â€œjust around the bendâ€ (to left or right? Where is the identifying number to be found?) caused me several minutes of delay on an already-tight timeline to accomplish my errand. Either have the vehicle there and ready to go, or be clearer about where to find it, with assurances that the meter starts running when and only when the customer puts the vehicle in motion. Other than that, my experience was the top-shelf quality I have come to expect over the years of doing business at this location.ELIZABETHJ B.
The Van was crap, it had tons of dents that were unaccounted for. The alignment on the van was off to the right so it made driving difficult. I booked at 26 ft truck and was given a 20 Ft truck. Because of this we have to make several more trips to get the remaining stuff. I used skip the line method which after entering everything correctly still asked me to go to the office to verify causing me a 20 minute delay . That cuts into my rental time. Not impressed. first trailer they hooked up had problems, had to switch out. no one seemed overly interested in helping us. terrible customer service. one guy went to move a pickup truck and ripped of the side mirror when backing up as he was not paying attention. Brian at Uhual Colby Dr Waterloo was friendly and very, very nice - he helped my mood during my move (nobody likes to move!) and helped me move a heavy item from my car to the truck. It was above and beyond customer service, it meant a lot. My only complaint is that I can't contact the store directly when I call the number for that location! Extremely long wait to reserve a car and return a car: 30 min to 45 min. A sticker denoting a scratch on the van fell off and we were blamed for it. After some arguing, another worker vouched for the scratch and we were finally able to leave. Overall a not-so-great experience.Fady S.

Spoke with Bryce at the Colby Drive location and his presentation and performance in answering questions, locating our trailer for pick up was not helpful at any time in this endeavour; very unsure, scattered and seemed lost. This location was fine - the uHaul service overall was abysmal. I had pre-booked my truck on March 23, 2021 and had scheduled the pickup & drop off location. At 7 PM the night before my rental the pickup location was switched to Mitchell, ON - a full hour+ away from my original pickup location. I then called the original location, Uhaul help desk and the Mitchell location. After several hours of phone tag and no answers - I was able to get a truck rental (but of a smaller size, different location and different cost). And in the end no one explained to me why the truck I reserved was not available for me. This was terrible customer service, organization and I do not feel any confidence in UHaul for future services. I would appreciate some explanation/response and reasoning why I should be confident to book a truck through this service again.ANTHONYJEFFERSON S.

The only issue was the fact that mileage was determined using kms - not miles. When the physical truck is recorded in miles, this is an important factor when determining mileage before the trip. There was no mention of this on any documentation.Agnes K.

The location is a good one as they have a lot of equipment and options, the staff is also helpful. The rental truck that I got was in a bad shape. Of course it was over used. It would take time to gain speed. But the biggest problem was it's breaking and steering wheel, very wobbly, almost to a point I got scared that I was losing control. No issues with Equipment Paperwork takes a long time I said I would be there by 8:00am for pickup. I was running late (arrived 8:30am) but my 6 hr window started at 8:00am, then the PPW Never left the facility until 9:00am - now I only have 5 hrsJOHNA G.

My original pick up location was 144 Charles st. I arrived early and completed the paperwork , was given the keys. I went to the parking lot to get the truck only to find the windshield smashed and the driver side mirror smashed. When I went inside to report this I found out that they didn't have another vehicle for me, so I was sent to the Colby dr. location. So instead of us loading the truck at 12:00pm we didn't start loading until 1:30pm. This was unacceptable. I had people waiting for me at both ends of the move.Steve P.

I felt the equipment was not in the best condition. Personally noted three issues, wiring at rear of trailer loose and dragging on road, left tail light out, and left side of bumper and step bent/broken resulting in a sharp edge that could catch on a leg. If pulled over they would have been classified as an â€œout of serviceâ€condition.JOSHUAKYLE J.
PLEASE- verify if renting a trailer that you have the electrical required in your car's receiver to be able to tow a trailer for its rear lights. NONE of your screening questions nor did any employee ask if I had electrical when I booked my 4'x 8' trailer. It made a terribly stressful day trying to locate a local source to add the needed electrical in order to safely tow the trailer. ADD this to your screening questions both when trailer is booked and again at time of trailer rental, not after paying and crawling on ground with one associate telling me I have to assemble the receiver for liability reasons. Also, It did not make the experience any better that I had to drive from Waterloo to the Kitchener location and back to the Waterloo location the same morning after having to personally retrieve the correct shank size for the 2 inch receiver. I had pre-booked this reservation but Uhaul made this rental an unnecessarily stressful experience which could have been averted with better client preparation. Had I known I needed electrical for the trailer lights, I would have scheduled this work to be done ahead of trailer pick up.KAREN ELIZABETH G.

I reserved my storage unit months ahead of time. Only to find out when I arrived that they did not have my unit available or any other units available for that matter. I was eventually given a dirty unclean unit that they had to rush and empty. I have no confidence this unit will keep pests out of my belongings. I used this location before and was expecting similar good service as I had the previous year. This location went from hero to zero. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied. I reserved two storage rooms at Waterloo , Ontario branch. I was given two locks plus two sets of key for each lock. rent started 13th August lasted till 31ar of January 2021. paid 188,74 + 126,59 total 315,33 Cn Dollars per month which would be automatically billed to my Credit card on the 13th of each month. (paid till 12 Feb meaning I was charged 122,06 dollars extra) Having said that on last day that I wanted to move my belogings one of the locks was not working, meaning the keys I was given was not working on one of the keys. After being kept in cold for long time. I made them break the lock so that I can remove my items for which I had paid 1 576,65 dollars to be kept in a self storage unite with pile of snow in front of the doors make it impossible to do anything. They broke the lock and charged us around 50 dollars ???? I have not had a chance to go and meet with Ethan the manager who was always responsive and accommodating (he was not there at time). However before its too late since you asked for my feedback I am writing this for your record and I will get back to you to claim the extra cost and inconvenience we had to endure on the day we were moving out. Another issue was that there was a very young boy working there who was racing the lot going just wandering around the lot very fast , so that we had to stop him before some one got hurt. Even though the actual unit was all fine, check-in fine, check-out with our truck was great - the people there at the time were all incredibly helpful, this was definitely a below average experience overall. We came on a day when it snowed a lot and the entire property hadn't been plowed at all - and this was at noon, it wasn't early in the morning or anything. We came back with the truck around 2 PM and it still hadn't been plowed, nor had our truck been brushed off before it was provided to us. This all seemed incredibly dangerous - again not complaining against anyone in particular or anything like that, and obviously we'll still use U-Haul, I'm just hoping someone will read this and consider re-thinking your policies. Trucks should be brushed off properly BEFORE you hand them off to customers. They shouldn't have to ask for snowbrushes and indicate which areas need to be brushed off (which is all of it). This is literally the law, and people who drive much larger trucks do this all the time - it's really unsafe that this isn't standard policy And then if you aren't going to plow, you need to at least shovel the entrance way and pull trucks up to it. Our truck was stuck at the entrance way and wasn't shoveled out properly - we wasted over an hour being stuck leaving and coming back that day, it was incredibly frustrating. We moved out in November. I went in personally to let the staff know that the unit was empty. I waited while he went to the unit to confirm that it was empty and clean. He was very pleasant and said thank you, and that I had to remove the lock and take it home. Since then I have received emails and phone call saying I owe more rent. The check in process was really confusing and took over 40 minutes (the wait time to be served was quick, but it took over 40 minutes for me to get checked in once it was my turn). I had already reserved the type of unit I wanted online, but I still had to explain what type I wanted and answer all the questions again that I had already answered online. I thought the free month of storage that I qualified for would be tied to my account and that the staff would see that when checking me in, but I realized I had to inform them about the free month. That part's not a fault of the staff, it's just odd that the free month, and all the info I had entered when reserving my unit, wasn't associated with my account when checking in. When reserving and researching online, I had read that you can make monthly payments online, but when I checked in I was told that the only ways to pay were automatic credit card payment or to come into the office to pay. Afterwords, I was able to confirm by logging into my account that I can indeed pay online monthly myself, which is great as that's how I wanted to pay, but I was surprised that this wasn't mentioned as an option when checking in. I understand that one staff member was new and still learning, and that it was a busy day, but even so it felt like I had to lead the check in process and remind the staff of what was needed (ie. that they would need to show me where the unit is and how to access it, picking up the lock I had purchased, etc.), based on my knowledge of having checked into a storage unit before. It was unclear when the sign up process was finished and whether I and UHaul had everything we needed in terms of documents, but I got my unit and when I checked my account online I can see the unit in my account so we must have got it all set up. The unit was not as clean as I was expecting, it had some dirt and what looked like white pillow stuffing/fluff from the last renter. A quick vacuum or sweeping prior to a new renter would go a long way. It would also be really helpful if there was a light in the unit to make it easier to see when moving in. Overall it was a confusing, long, and stressful check in process, but I eventually got access to my unit, and it was the size and type that I had reserved online.Rachel W. | Premières impressions

There was an issue where I needed to change my lock bc the key was stolen and I asked the uhaul employees if they could help. that I have no problem identifying myself that I am in fact the one who rents the unit. They said no and I had to pay over 100 dollars for a locksmith. For then later me to find out the employee at the fron desk was wrong and You do in fact help in this case with identification and signature. Thats relaly really bad.... The other issue is I keep getting letters and emails saying that I owe for the next month when in fact I have moved out of my unit last month. It seems like your system is really behind and this causes alot of uneeded stress. My experience was greatly increased by the care of staff member Sydney Hutchison. She went above and beyond to ensure that I was well taken care of and was very knowledgeable and provided what I believe was beyond excellent customer service. She was very friendly to not only myself, but also to my wife and sister inlaw when they entered the main office to retrieve cold water for all those that were helping us to unload the truck into storage. I had a fantastic experience with renting a storage locker last minute due to my university residence shutting down as a result of COVID-19. I was able to easily book it online 2 days before, and the day before I received a call to get everything set up in advance. I rented a room for 29 months. During this time I drove to the facility and gave them a cheque before due date and either received a receipt then or email later. On two occasions I later received a late notice in the mail which I was chocked up about and would have to make a phone call to have it Cleared up.
