I made a reservation for a 17 foot truck, yet when I arrived I was told that I was going to receive a 15 foot truck. This could have been communicated far sooner, as I booked my truck over two weeks ago. Had I known, I could have gone elsewhere to get an appropriate vehicle. Being surprised the morning of a move that I was going to have less space than expected was a TERRIBLE customer experience. Learning this means I'm unlikely to ever use UHaul again, as I can only imagine what it would have been like if I needed a 20 foot truck and was assigned a 15 foot one instead. The staff extended my rental by a couple hours, which was appreciated, but still a poor substitute for giving me the vehicle I needed.

I wish the contract is more clear to spell out that there is no reimbursement when additional services or items are purchased and returned before the three day window. For example, I needed the truck protection insurance for a day but paid for three days with the impression that my money will be reimbursed. Unfortunately, the staff were unable to give me back my money. Similarly for the trolley. This practice although legal is unfair. I will be careful buying additional services. Otherwise, my service will Uhaul was good.

I was able to rent a van and the van itself was a good vehicle - very nice. After that it was all downhill. Took 50 minutes to get out of there using the "convenient" mobile app. It took 20 minutes to get approved, the code provided for the key box didn't work, the truck I was assigned was buried so I had to switch vehicles. The gas was lower than selected so I bought 2 gallons of gas even though I drove a total of 13 miles. But the best part was that they didn't have a furniture dolly that I reserved abs even though 2 different people said they would take it off - I still paid for it. Even better is that my contract says that they credited me the $7 - right below the part where they charged me... Needless to say I'm steamed about this.

The truck was unsafe to drive. When we contacted Uhaul to express that it was dangerous to have this vehicle on the road, I was told by Sean from Phoenix that he was trying to get his work done quickly because it was Saturday afternoon so that was why our situation was not being handled properly. I was horrified that Sean starting his Saturday night was more important than the safety of my husband driving the Uhaul or any of the other drives on the road who could have been casualties of this careless and unacceptable approach to renting moving trucks. The only complaint I have is when I was using the mobile pick-up option I was asked for an alternate contact and so I gave my employee phone # to the UHAUL rep not realizing he was going to call them. I work at a very busy hospital and they don’t have time for phone calls not related to health care. Why was that necessary when I have rented vehicles several times from UHAUL?

Appointment was at 8AM to pick up truck and store opens at 9AM. Seriously? I had a team I hired that had to pay that dead hour that I wasted. Your incompetence costed me 1 hour of my time and 1 hour of the other people I had to pay. Gas was 95% full. When I was going to return rental I was on 90% full. Then I put gas and reached 100% by mistake. So I had to pay for other people’s gas use and I was not refunded for doing this. I am tired of uhaul even though I’ve used it before. I will NEVER again rent with you. Get yourself a better management.

I was extremely disappointed with our recent cargo van rental experience yesterday. We arrived at the pick up location on time and noticed a very long line inside so we began to check in with the uhaul mobile app. We completed the process and were assigned a van initially but needed the key. So we asked the one person working and she said to wait in line. Mind you that the line was 10 customers and only one employee working. After an hour in line with people constantly cutting ahead which was extremely discouraging, we finally made it to the front. We showed the employee the app and the clean that was assigned to us using the uhaul mobile app only for her to inform us that she just gave that van away to a customer who just came in and made a reservation. Finally after searching for a new van the employee was able to check us in and give us a key after an hour of waiting. The new van also had a smashed passenger side mirror so I wasn’t able to use that while driving. Overall I was dissatisfied with every aspect of the rental from the service to the vehicle condition. Please look into this matter and credit my rental to accommodate these issues otherwise I will no longer be able to do business with uhaul. Thanks, Matt Ducas

I reserved a van online. When I went to pick it up, I was told they don’t rent vans one way and would have to take a truck. This was overkill as I was moving 6 boxes and a bike. It wasn’t until I optioned to cancel the reservation that I was offered the rate of the van for the truck. Keep in mind I reserved a van for a one way trip, though apparently they “don’t do that here”. The gentleman at the desk was rather curt, and instead of saying “it’s a mistake” instead offered “it’s not what we do.” Also, because I had to upgrade the vehicle, I also couldn’t drop it off at my preferred location- instead an additional 30 minutes out of the way. So to summarize- I was promised a vehicle I couldn’t get, had to pay more in gas because the vehicle is less efficient, and I had to drop it off a farther distance from my destination. Don’t use uhaul. Try hertz for a van or Penske for a truck.

The van I booked was blocked by two other trucks on the uhaul parking lot with only a few inches to back and front. Store was already closed, no possiblity to just change the car. It already took an hour through online pick up to even get the car keys and it took another hour until I had somebody on the phone to help me. There is still a hold on my credit card for the full amount I paid for the car I never even moved. I hope that I will at least get a refund about this amount. Not speaking about the 2 hours of my time I wasted sitting in your parking lot.

I rented the truck for 7 hours for a move. I traveled for less than 20 miles but was charged for 120 miles. I sent an complaint email, and reached out to customer services with a complaint but was completely ignored. I don't recommend this location.

A very rude person called demanding that I return the truck after 4 hours rental.Truck was for a day rental and when returning the truck in the afternoon I was charged for 2 days. I had to return the next day to Manager William that was very friendly and changed the cost and credit my money. Unfortunately I was charged again and had to call again to receive credit that I now have to wait again 5 days to see if credit appears in my account.

Nearby gas stations with LOCATIONS ON A MAP, with lowest price listed first, would be helpful. THE lower priced station we had in mind when leaving was closed when we got back (Memorial Day Weekend). Paid higher nearby, along way to you. Then after drop off and still nearby on Market St. still, way lower price station was spotted!

Employees were disorganized. It took 40 minutes to get to the cashier then had to wait another 25 minutes because they were giving people vans that were blocked in at least three vans deep. I was one of three customers this happened to at the time I was there. An employee told me that it kept happening so I assume it is a regular occurrence. One employee was verbally abusive to at least three different customers that I personally witnessed.

If check in and check out could be better streamlined, that would be helpful. While returning the truck, the app had some glitches and it took a while to complete the return process

Despite me refueling the gas tank to the level shown on the contract, U-Haul charged for another gallon. It is very easy for them to claim I didn't fully refuel to the level on the contract. The gas tank meter in the van only shows the levels by quarters whereas the contract expects a refueling to the 1/16th. This is ridiculous. U-Haul seems to set up their system to allow them to fleece customers for a few extra dollars or force them to give free gas to u-haul.

I originally reserved a truck at the Watertown location via your Truck Share 24/7 program. NOTHING WORKED!!! It all resulted in a 2hr delay. Your representative in Brighton did a wonderful job but your system in Watertown is garbage.

There were a lot of bookings at the same time early morning, so picking up was a little slower than expected. Attempting to spread the bookings out a bit may help alleviate this issue. Overall both pick up and drop off were very easy though.

William was excellent. He hooked up the trailer and then when we realized I had no hook up for trailer lights helped me rent a van instead. The van was a new model with a strong engine and was excellent and comfortable. And all of this including the change took less than an hour!! Thanks!!

I called Saturday to make a last minute rental for Sunday, unfortunately when I got there they couldnt find it and said it was never made.. I thought I was screwed since I had to move apartments. Donna Lewis greeted me with a smile, as well as a polite and positive attitude; she quickly made me a reservation/rental and had me on my way! She was efficient, kind, and just plain friendly!

The person who helped me with my order was distracted by her co-worker's child who was hanging out at the location. She often paused during my transaction to make small talk and laugh about things unrelated to proving me with service. While I fully support working parents, I did not appreciate that this caused a distraction. As a result, I was not provided with the information that I could have purchased something for less than I paid to rent it. UHAL should better compensate their team members so that they can provide better service.

I showed up early for a reservation which I thought I had completed online but had somehow only booked the Moving Help and not the truck. It was the last weekend of the month and they were booked. The General Manager helped me out and got me into one of the last remaining smaller trucks. Moving a small family is pure hell, I was so happy how they took care of me today. This is my 3rd experience with the Brighton location, I will not go anywhere else.

Excellent rating for the staff; average for the computer system. I used the cell phone checkout because there was only one staff person- who was busy with another customer. It's not so easy as they make it sound because you have to find the truck, take pictures and answer questions on your phone. I uploaded the wrong picture of the mileage & gas gauge and there was no way to correct it. Rather than going through the self-check in procedure I asked an attendant to check the truck in. It seemed that would be easier, except the staff records said I was supposed to drop the truck somewhere else, which was incorrect. The office person straightened that out. People still win over computers for this operation. U-Haul take note. Don't get rid of your on-site people!

We were excited to pick up our Uhaul in Waltham instead of driving to the Uhaul location in Brighton. I reserved my 10' truck a week before we needed it and I did get confirmation that we were on track to pick up our truck on Friday, April 12th at 730pm. Due to the time of pick up we had to use Uhaul.com to check-in and pick up our truck. However, it was NOT THAT EASY. When 7:30pm hit we were at the Waltham location, I clicked the "Pick up my truck" link and I was notified that a piece of equipment had not been reserved. I called customer service 4-5 times, eventually an hour later (1 HOUR) we were told to pick up our truck at the Brighton location ( we recommended that location since there was something wrong with the Waltham location). Moving is already stressful enough, this moving experience made it 10 times more stressfull!!! At the end of it all we arrived at the Brighton location and we picked up our truck with no problem.

They were great! I reserved a trailer online and everything was ready when I got there. The trailer was in perfect condition (brand new) and we made the 170 mile trip with no issues. They hooked up the trailer for me and showed me how to unhook it when I dropped it off (one-way rental) as the drop-off place had 24 hour drop off service. I would highly recommend using the U-Haul in Brighton, MA. This was the 2nd time I've used them and both times they were great!

My reserved truck was given away and I had to wait until 4 p.m!! I lost the entire day and had to pay the movers by the hour for all the hours they sat and did nothing in front of my house! Plus pay them for the hours that they actually packed my truck.

This location charged me an extra day for a U-Haul trailer that I returned two days early... They waited to process my return until the day after it was due.... I shutter to think how many extra days they would have charged me if I had turned it in on the day it was actually due. Completely unacceptable and will be taking legal action if my money is not refunded.

Even though we reserved on line, checked in on line, we had to wait an hour and half (90 mins) to pick up our van in the "express" line. This location is soooooo understaffed.

I know I should have done it, but I really shouldn't have to walk back to the office to contest a single mile difference on the ODO. I didn't bother, and even though my 3 mile estimate was accurate, I got that extra mile charge over my accurate estimate, even though the return was an hour early. So petty!

GOOD--service, Great equipment! Easy in, easy out, brand new truck.. BAD--Each time the key is turned on, a button must be pushed,to defeat "load/tow" braking. "Off" should be the default, not "on".. There will be accidents on slippery surfaces with light loads, caused by this "feature".

Called again at 130 same thing except this time the call center stated it was complete I went over to the location and it was still not done. The manager was the one doing the instal. He could not find the wire hookups. So at 230 I said just refund the electrical instal so I can leave. After 6 hours the job was not completed. My interactions with the manager were less than positive in the phone conversations that I had with him prior to the install date and in person while dropping off my vehicle. He was apologetic when I was picking up my vehicle. While I was waiting I heard there phone wring many times and the employees ignore it.

I used the U-Haul app and it was awful. The connection kept timing out. I also walked around trying to find my truck for quite some time only to find that it was behind another truck. I went inside to the office twice and no one was in there. It was only after I walked around outside for the third time that some other people had walked in. I was outside for so long trying to get the app to work. In the end it prompted me to go to the traditional check in method.

A stark difference between the two locations. The Natick location didn't have the trailer I reserved. Had to drive 90 min to this Brighton location. I can't believe Uhaul is in business with this type of "service"

The final pickup and drop off went without a problem. I was VERY upset that I was allowed to reserve a trailer at a location that did not actually have one, and I did not find this out until I made a call a couple of days before, just to confirm. Had I not called, I would have arrived at the pickup location, only to find out that I had to go somewhere else. The reservation process needs to be MUCH clearer about this!!!!

When returning the vehicle, there was no where for me to pull in the truck. There was a line of returned vehicles to the road forcing me to block traffic. Suppose its the nature of being in the city. But otherwise very friendly service, got exactly what I expected. Would highly recommend and use again.

WIth 137,000 miles, the transmission was balky, but worst of all, it was raining, and water came up through the floor, drenching the bottom of many of my cardboard boxes and their contents. No warning about this, no ability to put a tarp down, nothing.

I will never rent from Uhaul again in life. The agent who created my rental was amazing. However the two ladies checking my rental in were horrible AND now I have been excessively overcharged for a second time by Uhaul. I’m still waiting on a refund from a month ago when I was overcharged...and now I will have to go through this all over again. I’m done. I will take my business elsewhere...this is ridiculous.

My name is Alex Estrin and my rental number was 84242021. I rented a 10ft truck from the Brighton ma location. When I picked up the truck I noted some damage and rust on the front left. Upon getting on the highway a piece of plastic got dislodged from the wheel well and started rubbing the tire. This created an unsafe and stressful situation for me. I was forced to pull over on a busy highway and examine the situation. It was clear to me that the plastic was broken in the wheel well before I got the truck and just tucked under some metal rather than repaired. Please see attached photos. When I called the Brighton location I was told that "I should have seen that before I left". Please tell me how I could have seen damage in the wheel well? The customer service I received and the condition of the truck were both extremely poor. Please consider this a formal complaint. I look forward to hearing from a manager asap. At this location there was no problem with my service even the customer in front of me decided to change certain things about their reservation and the saleswoman ( sorry I don’t remember her name) but she explained to them that there would be a difference in price ( not by much by the way) they seemed to kind of keep questioning how this could be they seemed to be just looking for a fight but she kept her cool and was pleasant to them and everyone around. I know companies say the customer is always right and I don’t work in retail or anything that has to do with customers but I know I would not have been able to keep my cool like this woman did.
