Summary: Poor wiring installation, poor service, don't follow through with promises. Hitch installation was mediocre, but worse, they were HORRIBLE in terms of wasting my time and costing me money. Originally booked to have the hitch installed 5 days before I was helping a friend move with my trailer. The guy called the day of the installation to tell me they didn't get the part and it would take about a week I asked him to get a substitute before the end of the week. He said he'd call me back and never heard back. Cost my friend an extra $75 because he had to rent a truck when I couldn't lend my trailer. I finally called U-Haul a week and a half later (twice) because they never called me back, and they got the part. Showed up on time for my appointment. They told me 1,5 to 2 hours for installation. Came back 1,25 hours after dropping it off and watched the guy just driving my car back to the garage to *start* the work. Checked in after 2 hours even though I knew they wouldn't be done. I got the typical "Oh, yeah, should be ready in 30 minutes." All told, it took a few minutes less than 3,5 hours. And this was with me effectively stranded 45 minutes from home on a cold day where walking wasn't especially pleasant. Checking out, the guy who worked on my vehicle had grime caked all over his hands and a bloody knuckle. I get it - dirty job, and that's why I didn't want to do it myself. He told me he'd bring the vehicle around and I was hoping he'd wear gloves, clean his hands, or something. Nope, got out of my car with hands looking exactly the same. Dirt and grime were on the steering wheel, door handle, and door latch, and he hadn't cleaned up well from the job - grime all over the lower entry trim where he'd installed the trailer wire. Poor attention to detail and definitely not the care I'd expect for how much I paid for the installation. Installation looks nice, though I now have a whine in my speakers when the car is in reverse. Don't know if it's something not grounded correctly or something else. I expect to have to waste an extra afternoon to get this fixed since I don't have a local U-Haul hitch installation place. I'm about a year out from the installation, and now I'm going to have to take it back in. The guy who wired it didn't actually secure the wiring from the front of the car to the back in the undercarriage, even with cable ties. He just tucked it in areas of the frame and hoped it would stay. It didn't. I found about six feet of wire loose and touching the ground, dragging under the car.William E B.

The attendant stated that I could not drop off the trailer first, then move my belongings from the truck. This is stupid because I picked up the truck first and then the trailer. You would think you would do the opposite to unload this. Also if a person has no previous knowledge of unhooking a trailer this could present a safety concern. Also if a person were unloading this in a city or neighborhood situation this would not be possible. The attendant the next day after unloading the truck was much more helpful and not trying to make the process more difficult.COLIN M.
I rented a out of town truck and was told that I would be able to drop it off at another location closer to my destination just for them to change it to be drop off back at that location that I was picking up from witch was a hour away from where I live so I was charged for miles that I shouldn't of had to pay for just to take it back my pick up time was supposed to be 600pm didn't get the truck until almost 7 I'm so pissed ðŸ˜¡Amber R.

Please consider getting the windshield cleared of snow when a person with a reservation is picking up.KEVIN R.
I made my reservation on line 6 weeks prior to my need date and the reservation showed that I was to return the equipment to pick up location. I needed it to reflect the drop off location in Florida, so I called U-Haul 1-800 number to make the correction. I was told that my reservation was updated in the system. When I went to pick up my equipment I was told my reservation was still showing return to the pick up location, and they didn't have anything if I wanted to do my desired one way itinerary. I was told not to ever make a reservation on line, but the agent eventually helped me get my equipment and set up to return to my desired location in Florida.Thomas S.
My seat would not lock in the forward position I'm only 5'1 but I had to balance on the edge it also when it slid back I didn't have full control of the vehicle for a moment. The emergency brake alarm kept going off the guy fixed it at the place when I drove off but it continued to do it every time from then on out and that noise is horrid.GEORGIA ANN B.

I was over charged for my rental. I showed the manager that I was over charged. Instead of refunding the amount that I was over charged ( I showed him that I was on my phone app from my bank ). I would have to go to my bank and have a printed copy of my account to show him that you over charged me.MICHAEL G.
The only thing I did not appreciate Was when we dropped the u haul off, there was very loud music playing and the course repeated â€œf-youâ€ over and over, and the guy doing intake was enthusiastically singing along. Not professional at all. I would try to regulate the type of music played in your client facing spaces, and make sure employees know that mouthing â€œfâ€"- youâ€ over and over in front of clients is gross.Stephan R.
The girl who put our trailer on didn't even put it on right and half way down the road we had the stand scraping and people yelling at up to pull over to fix it. Should probably teach your people how to do the stuff right.KATELYN B.

We rented a 6' x 12' trailer from U-Haul of Huntington Hills. From the reservation to the pickup to the return everyone whom we worked with was helpful, professional, and cordial to talk with. Our trailer was in excellent condition and was a gem that helped us quickly and safely move our son from one city to another. Thanks for such great service! Truck had check engine light on and the heater did not work The response I got after driving five miles from the location was to call road side assistance. For the cost of $1840 I expect better service and equipment!Jeremy S.
The woman who took care of me was fine, but the young man at the counter was extremely subpar. My wife wanted to buy mattress covers labeled at $12.45, and he rang it up at $17.99, insisting that he couldn't change the price because that's what it said in the computer, and he â€˜only worked there.' A woman in front of us told him that he had giver her incorrect change, and that she had been shorted a few dollars, and he told her he couldn't open the register without a sale, and refused to give her her money! It was astounding callous incompetence, and though I am not one inclined to judge people harshly, he deserves to be terminated.HAL S.

Rude reception upon drop off. Complained of exterior appearance from road grime during winter conditions and travel one way. Didn't even inspect interior to see it was clean. Want to debate with me regarding the exterior cleanliness. As a former Uhaul distributor manager, exterior components of cleanliness were not considered. As a representative our RM required and provided funds for detailing equipment so costumers have a pleasant experience. As for being a primary UHaul Store, there should never be a debate about road grime and travel do to winter conditions. Especially from a one way rental. I have used this store multiple times for drop off and pickup. I will now shop Uhaul at independent stores You have an employee that doesn't want to pull out pressure washer to spray down equipment for your advertising and wants to just click his phone for check in and check outs. Complained that I disconnected trailer in drop off area. When I wasn't timely waited on. 3 employees - and only 1 costumer receiving loading of boxes into car when I arrived. Not impressed with something that should truly be around costumer service.Steve P.

Check-in and rental process were great. Return was sub-standard. After pulling into the Equipment Return bay, my friend and I waited for several minutes. No one appeared. We finally got out of my vehicle and went to the office. Then some surly man with a beard and no mask came out and said to back the trailer up to a spot he indicated. After several failed attempts to back the trailer through a drainage dip to the spot indicated by the bearded man, he finally said he would just detach the trailer where it was. He then asked in a disinterested tone if anything was wrong with the trailer. After I answered he walked off. His demeanor was rude and his attitude very unpleasant. He acted as though the entire transaction was infringing on his day. If I go to this location again I will request that I not have to deal with this individual. The gentleman behind the desk who handled my reservation was very professional and pleasant.AMY J.

With respect to the "well maintained": the truck started fine (there was ice on the windshield so it was a cold day start) but, after a 20 minute drive and about 10 minutes off, when I went to start it up again the battery had failed. Can't fault the location as the battery took a charge once jumped by roadside assistance, so no complaints.Steven C.

The pickup truck I rented smelled so strongly of cigarettes there may as well have been someone chain smoking while I was driving. It was so strong that breathing in that cab all day destroyed my sinuses. I was also forced to drive back and forth across town because my reservation showed my truck and trailer as being in the same location. Upon arrival I was told that was not the case even though I was physically looking at it in my reservation details on the u-haul website.Kyle M.

The reservation system and the ability for the local offices to alter that need to be updated. Our reservation changed to a different location, so I called and got it changed, but apparently they changed it to a self-checkout but I never received the code. So I went in to see what the issue was & they wanted to charge me twice what my reservation was for. I ended up cancelling & having them just do it & ended up paying more. They just kept acting like I was the problem and quite unhelpful. Side note: the gentleman who took my key at check-in was very kind considering he was busy. He's the only reason I may give this UHaul location another chance.CRISTIN J.

My experience was the MOST shameful from start to finish I've ever encountered in my lifetime. I have been a uhaul customer for 15 years MANY times over and will never give another a dime to this company and everyone that's heard the story has discontinued their business with uhaul as well. Disgraceful customer service....I couldn't be more disappointed and upset I put so much money in a company I thought was reliable and trustworthy to be completely let down, lied to and taken advantage of. I hope someone changes their mind and wants to attempt customer retention beyond 15 bucks off of spending 1600.00....devastated at this experience and turnout.Olivia D.
