The uhaul app did not work well with my phone for check in or drop off. The app never let me take a photo of my DL, so the staff member kindly did that for me. The app said I would receive a receipt after check in but I never did. I did get this survey, but not the receipt.

Good selection of trucks available and location is convenient but service was not exactly friendly. The "app" you're supposed to use to check in and check out didn't work with a relatively new Android phone.

The guy I dealt with in Mountain View was awesome, very hard worker. It seemed like he needed more support, folks had to wait while he attended to each one in turn. I did not like that the Sunnyvale location moved my reservation an hour before pickup. Why would they do that if they had the 6x12 trailer in stock?

The guy who helped us do all the mobile check-in was very personable and funny! He made our drop off experience more enjoyable! All employees should be as welcoming as him. Didnt get his name but he explained an accident where he was squished between 2 trucks & lucky 2 be alive.

No need for improvements. But I wanted to say Frank was the most helpful staff I've been lucky to work with. This is the first time I've used U-hauls services and he made the process of pick up and return extremely easy. I actually ended up having to rent a uhaul 5/7 and 5/8 and he worked both days and gave me great guidance on how to do the return through my phone and where to return the keys after hours. I'm very grateful for all of his help! Moving is such a stressful ordeal, but he made this part of it extremely easy and seamless. Thank you so much!! He deserves a raise!!

The only reason I would not recommend this site is the amount of time it takes. IT WAS NOT THE EMPLOYEE'S FAULT. One person was attending the counter then having to go out and connect, set up the customer and rush back to the counter. If they had adequate help it would be fine and recommended. Again, the employee was helpful and friendly but can only be at one place at a time.

No license plate on truck someone left an open beer in the passenger side door. When i was pulled over for no license plate I was detained for 45 minutes. I don't drink and no passengers road with me. It wasn't my beer.

The guy who rented me the trailer knows trailers, but he's lousy with people. I mentioned this was the first time I'm towing a trailer with this car and I wanted to test the wiring. He asked who installed the harness. I told him I did and he proceeded to treat me like an idiot from then on. He claimed (incorrectly as it turned out, that there was a probem with my blinker. I showed him the tester plug I made with two lightbulbs for the blinkers and that they worked fine, when plugged in directly, then suggested the problem could be in the trailer. He took that as a personal insult. Just wierd. He showed zero interest in customer service or problem solving. It was more like dealing with a small dog that desperately wants to be the alpha male... I reconnected the trailer myself (the pins on the plug looked pretty dirty so I jiggled it back and forth a bit to scrub the contacts then went to look at the trailer lights myself. I told the guy they looked okay and he acted like he didn't believe me, but didn't look for himself either. He did eventually rent me the trailer, and he hooked it up for me, but made no effort to teach me anything and was in no mood to answer questions. When I returned the trailer I pulled into equipment return and they waved me away "park it over there" (no clear guidance) so I drove off into the storage lot. I picked a location that seemed sane and unhooked the trailer myself. Nobody came over to help, or even asked me my name, or made any effort to inspect the trailer or give me any sort of paperwork to prove I returned it. I ended up taking a cell phone video as evidence that it was okay and that I brought it back. I've rented Uhails and pulled trailers before. Last time I rented a pickup and car trailer together in Sacramento, and that shop was great. Very friendly and helpful people. The contrast was stunning. This place had a sign out front that they were hiring. Something dysfunctional was going on. If you have a high employee turnover there, do some exit interviews to see what is going on.

I had a good experience but the guy who was working by himself I felt bad for him. He was busy when I picked up the truck and when I dropped it off poor guy was still alone. He could of definitely used help. He definitely was doing a great job.

I couldn't complete the pickup procedure online as the system was claiming that my phone number was somehow "in use". So I went in person to clarify what that meant and get assistance. The clerk at the pickup counter was arrogant, rude, condescending, aggressive. He failed to answer my legitimate question during the pick up concerning additional information he demanded (no, not asked or inquired, demanded). He did not fullfil my reservations (additional equipment that I requested online was never provided to me) and then charged me for the services he didn't render. My request for a manager was denied with "we don't have a manager". When I called the number u-haul called me from earlier to inquire about your alternative number policy and why you have it, how it will be used, and my reasonable questions of how many numbers does a normal person have, I was met with some vague statement about my "personal problems" and no explanation either. The only okay part was that during the return when I asked the other employee about what to do, they did take off the charge for the equipment I wasn't provided with and that the lady on the phone who I called in-between pick up and drop off apologized. But that's just okay, that's just the baseline one would expect from a business that doesn't want to get legal charges on scam or fraud. That does not make up for the quality of service and the necessity to deal with staff that thinks their attitude is of interest to everyone and patronizing and humiliating a customer is of no consequence. The only reason I paid u-haul money that day was because I was on a tight schedule, I was having a good day until this occurrence. After years of using your services, I will certainly reconsider my future relationship with your company, and at least have a contingency plan. My social circle will hear about, I assure you. So will my lawyer be evaluating how your alternative number demand that wasn't in the online reservation and was an unexpected condition for rent on the day of pick up fit into socioeconomic discrimination and privacy laws. So in summary, no, you did not make a good impression.

The only complaint I have is with the return process. U-Haul forces you to "self-return", which basically means no one helps you while you spend 20 minutes trying to navigate to their website to record photos of the truck and document how you return it. The self-documenting is fine, but the menu tree you have to go through to navigate to the site and enter all the information is abysmal.

Contactless procedure - Alternative contact verification process can be improved. The lady always said that she called and the person did not receive the call, while the person was with me and he received call the first time and there was no calling done later on. So we had to drop the contactless process and do a traditional pick up process.

This comment is more for uhaul in general: I had a lot of trouble getting my equipment and it made my move extra long and stressful. My first reservation was for somewhere in San Jose on 4/19 but I could not open the text or call anyone to figure out where because uhaul website down. When it came back up after it was too late to get my truck and vehicle tow, the online system said my reservation was expired. I booked very early morning of 4/20 and called after uhaul opened. I asked for you guys to make good on your 50 $promise if equipment not available but customer support weaseled out of it saying the equipment was available (at unknown location in San Jose). I guess I was supposed to drive up from Watsonville and around to all 6 uhaul centers in San Jose to find the truck myself only to be frustrated that I couldn't rent it due to your system being down- to be eligible for the 50 $promise? (Rhetorical question) I was getting angry so I gave up. I suggest it's better to just not promise people than promise and weasel out. My next reservation was for 4/20 in Campbell. I called ahead to confirm they had the equipment there already at the location to pick up and uhaul support confirmed it was there. I arrived at Campbell location and they told me they didn't have the vehicle tow there to pick up! They made another reservation to pick up the equipment in Mountainview Uhaul. I didn't ask for 50 $this time because I thought I would get too angry if they weaseled out a second time. The Mountain View Uhaul itself was fine. Courteous and helpful employees. The only thing I would have appreciated is if they loaded the blankets and dolly into truck for me like it says they will online. I forgot and left them on curb where they brought them out for me (99 % my fault, forgetful) During the trip, I would have liked to have been able to access the manuals for the truck and trailer but uhaul website down. So had a few worrisome noises from truck that I just hoped were ok most of the trip and turned out to be normal engine braking and probably sightly loose serpentine belt and didn't perform recommended checks at gas stops since couldn't remember the list besides oil. Overall, I would feel a little better if I was given the 50 $no equipment available promise once or even twice for both times it happened and the extra stress and lost packing, travel and unloading time this caused. Or you could remove the promise from your website and advertising. And buy a friggin backup generator to power your main website server or get a backup server running! Thank you for reading

Please pick up the phone. I was on hold for over an hour, never talked to ANYONE, called back multiple times. Either something is wrong with the phone, or someone is being straight up neglectful. Otherwise A+ service, everything was smooth.

I returned my truck at 7:30am and was told to leave the key in the door and that a receipt would be emailed. My receipt said I returned the truck at 11:21am. I was worried I'd be charged for another day cause they didn't register my return for 4 hours, but it looks like it was ok.

This was a horrible experience using Uhaul as my primary service to help with my moving process. 1. The person attending me took about 30 minutes to gain all my information that was already asked and answered on the uhaul website. 2. When leaving with my uhaul truck I was stopped by a uhaul personal saying that something was wrong and I couldn't drive away. So I had to wait another 15 minutes so I can get my truck swapped for a new one that is drive-able. 3. Last is my locations were changed without my knowledge and consent to further inconvenient locations. Both adding up an hour further away from my pick up and drop off uhaul truck.

Clerk DID NOT send confirmation email to me nor did he verbally notify me that the system requires a second point of contact to verify fraud or otherwise, wasted me 1,5 hours in the cold to figure that out before I can pick up the truck; interior of truck has not been cleaned at all; fuel level is barely enough to get to gas station after I took it home and have loaded the truck with stuff.

No one was in the office when I arrived, but someone shortly returned from doing something outside. That guy could have been friendlier. The truck made a strange sound uppon acceleration, which I mentioned to the guy who checked me in when I returned the vehicle. He was very pleasant.

Santos was very rude to me. The GM of this location told me to fill the tank before I return the truck, but it wasn't full when I check the truck out. So I ended up giving them more gas than I used. Santos said that was my fault and I should have only filled it to the level that it was when I got it. How am I supposed to know that? He was very rude and said that they do not refund for gas that it is policy. My family has rented from this location several times and will never do it again. And I will recommend to other people that they rent somewhere else.

I don't appreciate my card being charged for the estimated amount and then the full amount. It doesn't matter if it's fixed in a little bit... it's three days after I used the truck and I'm being charged twice what I am supposed to be charged.

Love the truck! Some idiot put a "Speed Kills" decal on the speedometer. RIGHT ON THE 50 MPH TO 70 MPH area of the dial? How am I to see what speed I am driving if the speedometer is covered up?????

Rate says 19,95 $; I ended up paying 134 $for 6 hours of use and less than 100 miles travel. Absolutely misleading people. I would never use U-Haul again. Dishonest business.

The service personnel were fabulous. My phone had something blocking the camera function when it came time to take a picture of my license and they ably assisted me. They also checked new back in after hours which was really nice.

When pick up with U-haul app, there are too many documents(e.g. lease agreement, passport, etc) to submit for review. It's very inconvenient, and beats the purpose of online pick-up.
