The gentelman who helped me get checked in (I can't remember his name but he was older, white, balding with glasses ) etc was very helpful esp when I checked out and was overcharged for gasoline. When I first arrived a new clerk had already checked my reserved truck out for a local move and the renters were almost able to leave with the truck, which apparently was the only roadworthy truck to get me from California to Oregon through the mountains. The truck was very clean. The check engine light came on within 15 miles of leaving the store and when I returned the clerk wasn't helpful at all. He told me to call roadside assistance and wouldn't even help me look for another truck in the area. I was parked in the equipment return area and nobody else was behind me. As I waited on the phone the same clerk came out and made me move the truck. This guy made a terrible day even worse.CRAIG S.

No negative feedback. I picked up my moving supplies and van in little wait time. I was able to do a pre check in online that streamlined the process. The pre inspection was sent by a text and I was able to complete on my own without someone looking over my shoulder. When I was done a gentleman directed me to the equipment drop off and I was was asked if I wanted a email or actual receipt. I decided on an email and that was it. Waited about 20 minutes for staff to check me in they had other things to do seem to be extremely under staff with only one person working the front counter. Everyone was super friendly at the Mountain View location, which was amazing because they were very very busy! Frank and Sean in particular really took the time to answer my questions. The app-based checkin failed and it was an interminable wait to get my truck. I went through the required inspections to discover mileage was wrong and had to return to the office again. I had been given the wrong truck. In the end, it took 35 min to pick up a vehicle, making me late for my helpers. However, the truck ran fine. I appreciated the after hours drop off. original pick up was scheduled to be picked up on Laurelwood Rd. since the person using the truck before me did not return it to that location, I had to pay for a uber ride to this new location. the location had trucks on the lot I could have used but the guy at the front desk was a complete ass. very unprofessional. exact words out of his mouth; "man that sucks for you". next time i will rent with Penske or Enterprise. never will I use U-Haul again. this particular location was fine.Correy G.

Reserved a 20' truck weeks in advance and it was unavailable. Only the 26' was had it was too large to what were were moving, our move ended up taking an extra day. Additionally, the erroneously thought we took the 26' truck do they had to fix their records and billing afterwards. Almost a total failure and a total waste of out time. There were staff on site, but too few to keep up with the demand. After waiting at the counter for a bit, I used the online pickup process and went out to find my truck ready (this was great!) but noticed that it only contained a utility dolly, not the appliance dolly that I requested. I went looking for help and didn't find any, but did see where the appliance dollies were stacked, so I helped myself and swapped the dollies and went on my way. Returning the truck was a bit confusing because the site was again understaffed, but the guy who helped me was great and took care of everything. We just need more of him!Tim B.

Since this was my first time renting a truck, I wish someone would have told me how to secure the dolly inside the truck so that it wasn't moving all over and making loud noises when I picked the truck up and drove home. The stuff in the Mountain View office is very friendly, professional and really make this location so popular. I can only complain about the UHaul Android application which I tried to use twice to return the truck and in both cases the application stuck at the "upload photo" phase. What's the point of asking customers to use the app if it doesn't work? It could be a big help to the office team but it only adds more work for them.Igor P.

Long line to recieve equipment. Frank did not want to listen to U-Haul call center's recommendation nor adjustment for returning time. Customer has to spent extra time dealing with problems. Computer seized up and there are at least one hour delay. He still charged us one extra day regardless. There is no customer care nor understaning. We will not rent from UHaul if we can.LINGRU K.

Hi, There is a lot of work to be done. On the day of the move, Uhaul couldn't find our pods because the person was not there. It's my understanding this happened to four other families on the same day. That's a single point of failure. First, your systems were most likely overwhelmed. Our move was to Austin. This is where things broke done. - UI horrible. App doesn't show full order details such as payment info, so need to sign into the web portal. Web portal slow and glitchy on iOS platform. Are you using CDN? Seems like you're built on older technology stacks that are patched together without using 3rd party services. - pods not tracked in real time. - impossible to reach local U-Haul centers who are the only ones who can act or know current situation. In my case it was only one person. Talk about bottle necks. Negative feedback loops as then more people have to call in. Personal experience. Average calls to answer 20-40 minutes til answer, including dropped calls. Central hotline could pass on notes but that's it. No follow up. - no ownership of problem. Process disjointed. - 3rd party vendors - creating more points of failure. Reps required me to do all communication. No accountability, much in the same way franchise models do the same. - staff overwhelmed, unfriendly, and plainly gave wrong answers. It's my understanding also turnover is high. It wouldn't surprise me. You put them in a position where it would be difficult to succeed. - logistics issues - too many pods in location caused the issues so staff couldn't track. Recommended that my movers start a competing service that starts with your most profitable moving hub and build it on solutions that scale, much in the same way sw airlines got it start.Jim K.
