Uhaul nead to update the equipment...this trailers or not to safe....the hitch needs to be adapted to a bigger ball....this trailers don't have brake sistem ....the axles on this trailers drag on the road if you have a blown out tire( it did happen to me one time)MARIA G.

I brought my trailer back a day early. I tried to get help but there were six people in line waiting for the one employee who was there. I filled everything out online and returned it by following the orders. I still have not been able to talk to anyone about getting a refund for getting it back a day early. I will not be using U-Haul again. I reserved a truck out of Hadley that was supposedly â€œguaranteedâ€ to be there, which it wasn't. I was told the previous renter refused to return it. This created a shitstorm for me forcing me to load, transport, unload and return the truck all in the span of FIVE HOURS! Ridiculous! First and last for me. There's too much competition to deal with this BS.Bridget L.

The truck was filthy, said it needed an oil change and to top it all off, the employee there couldn't seem to care less. I get it, I hate my job too, but I don't go out of my way to make sure everyone else knows that. Lastly, I forgot a set of keys in the truck which was rented until after I realized it. I tried calling the location and kept getting redirected to the corporate center- they said that location doesn't regularly pick up the phone. Had they, I could have simply confirmed I left the keys in the truck- but even corporate could not get in touch with them for me- so I ended up cutting the locks. Keep in mind, I returned the truck early and was calling before it was even due back. My fault I lost the keys but it could have been avoided. Terrible condition of vehicle and terrible service. Have a location in Greenfield for vans and Trucks. 60 of my miles were spent getting from and back to Northampton. Greenfield is only 10 round trip. The van had a mechanical problem, known as brake chatter, which created some unnerving experiences while driving at highway speed. A driver with little experience driving anything bigger than a sedan may have had an unpleasant outcome.FRANK K.

Dear Sir, Unfortunately, we had a most uncomfortable experience yesterday at the Northampton, MA U-Haul facility. The two young people running the shop were wonderful, and did their best. But the problem was not their's. It's higher up, in management, and corporate structure and policy making. Our truck rattled and bumped and swayed from the beginning of the day. Suspension was not kept in service. Brakes were adequate, but not great. Transmission kept slipping, going uphill. And the truck had an increasingly difficulty time starting up. We reserved the truck from 10am to 6pm, returning at 4:30. After waiting on line for the checkout procedure, the truck would not start at all. We two increasing old timers waited around for about two hours. The manager of the facility was on vacation. The two very sympathetic and helpful young people running the shop tried to reach the roadside assistance phone, and never got through after multiple tries. According the the rules, we the users were responsible for the problem. We could go home. I live in Russell, not close by. But we would be called back perhaps later in the night, once the roadside repair arrived, so we could tell them personally that the truck would not start. This is unreasonable. There was even a question that we might be responsible for the cost of the repair, even though we had take out both insurance policies at the time of registration, and the truck was back in the U-Haul yard in Northampton. This is astonishing. Finally, and I'm most grateful to her, the young woman at the desk called one of the supervisors, perhaps the person on vacation? He told us we were free of responsibility, and could go home, after waiting for two hours, unable to even sit down. Your two very nice staff members gave us their stools to sit on. I'm 73 years old, and have driven many trucks in my life. Forgive me for saying this directly to you. But your trucks are not adequately maintained. They might even be dangerous to drive? And your management structure for handling difficulties is equally inadequate. In my view, your excellent young staff people should be given proper authority to solve these problems locally, and not have to wait for a manager to come back from vacation. I can't say enough good things about these two young people. If you give them the tools, they'll do a very good job for you. And please, invest in some new trucks, before an accident happens? The Northampton location staff for the most part is great â€" they seem overworked and a little understaffed sometimes, but that really goes for any place offering these kinds of rental services/equipment, especially during this COVID era and especially in a western MA city that's surrounded by schools in the area. The service was great! The truck was clean but it was very old & should have been retired. The seats were ripped. The steering wheel cover was peeled off. The rear door did not open or close well. The staff were very kind & apologetic. They tried their best but management should have taken this truck out of the fleet.Bernadette B.

I would not recommend any UHaul location. There are so many hidden fees and restrictions that aren't explicit. For example, I estimated the number of hours I would need. Then I was held to that estimate as my required return time and if I went over I would have to pay a fee. Why call it an estimate and then charge for going over than number by one minute?
