The lady(can't remember her name) working at the desk provided first class customer service even though she was super busy. I appreciate the attention she gave me while answering the phone and managing a line full of customers.

RONALD SI was disappointed that I had reserved two utility dollies but they would only give me one. That made my move take longer than if I'd had the two I reserved. They charged me a fee for insurance which I did not want and had not agreed to. When I questioned this I was told they were supposed to ask me if I wanted it but they forgot so they charged me anyway.

MICHAEL THad a great experience with the client service rep that found me an alternative vehicle since the one that I had reserved was not available. She was pleasant and reasonable. The van we ended up renting turned out to work great. It was clean and easy to drive.

GREGORY DReally old truck, last one on the lot, probly on its way for mainteance but was clean and okay for a short light move. BUT I was charged for fueling and for 4 gallons of gas, but had gassed up myself and brought the truck back exactly at the level it was when picked up. Still waiting for resolution after a call and message to UHaul. Reference ticket #5143451.

JEANETTE SEverything was great! Just want to mention that when we asked for a hitch install, the person working scheduled us for hitch installation with very expensive equipment, which made us feel like we're being taken advantage of. Luckily we talked to the mechanic who was great and understood our needs and helped us get what we actually needed. But all in all, we are very very impressed with uhaul (this is the first time we used uhaul) and can't believe how friendly everyone is and how smoothly everything goes.

The staff at the 35th Ave SW location was super friendly, efficient and showed proper concern about the smell. I would rent from you again in a heartbeat.
TAMELA TPoor communication led to an absolute disaster of a start with the wrong equipment and reccomendations leading us to swapping our vans and all our stuff late night and needing to cancel an auto trailer at the last moment. The van we did get ended up with a broken windshield wiper that was only discovered when the driver at the time needed to use them. Also was almost charged an additional 500 for nothing. They even changed the main registrant for the journey so it listed my friend who was supposed to be the other driver as the only person. It was a mess start to finish. Clear lack of communication between central dispatch, regional, and the store lead to this being a nightmare.
NATHAN JI had to come to this location last minute because the other location which I had a reservation at was closed during the time I had reserved a van. They were able to easily swap my reservation over and take care of me, super fast and efficient.

MAHAMUD KI had ordered a 15' box truck but ended up needing a 20'. They changed the reservation, got a different truck ready for me and had great customer service while doing so.

Riddhish PWorkers were nice but swore like troopers. They were very easily distracted which made checking out a longer process than it should. But the equipment was excellent and high quality, which is most important.
CLAY LThe first van I was assigned had the wrong license plate on it. It took a little bit to get that corrected but the customer service rep was very friendly and helpful. The swap did cause some issues with the app as it didn't update until much later. Other than that, I had no issues.
CHRISTIAN CI called this location repeatedly I nearly every single time I was routed to your call center. Which was fine unless I needed something specific from the location. I left many messages for the manager of the location to contact me and he absolutely never did. I'm disabled and so I had my driver/mover do most of the hauling and retrieval. However, I often needed to speak to the manager and was never able to. When I did speak to someone at the front desk they were helpful but they had limitations in what they could and could not do. What most frustrated me is that nearly every location in the area give some sort of special I had two units with you for over 6 months. I feel like I overpaid. Also when we first were estimating how much space I would need I described the amount of stuff in my apartment. Explained that there would be no bed no couch and no dining room table. There were a lot of boxes some chairs and small furnishings I took pictures and I walked through my apartment and described exactly what we needed to get into the unit and we were told that this unit originally that we were going to rent would definitely be large enough probably too big. Instead it was too small the next unit that we were given was not much bigger and my driver and his helpers had to move things upstairs into another unit and still needed the other unit for my stuff. I've never had that problem at any other storage facility. I had to pay my driver and his helpers more because of the time it took them to move everything around. You need to have some of your marketing people rent with Extra Space Storage to see their experience because it is Miles beyond what you offer their customer service is unbelievable I've had people call me back no matter what I asked for and they work with me very diligently. I must also mention that I understand that you want people to use your app but you push it way too far and you make it impossible to rent without using your app which can be frustrating. I realized that the only special you give is one that combines a truck with the storage but you need to come up with another special just for your storage. Overall I cannot recommend you to anyone I know in the area compared to my experiences with extra space.

BRIAN PInside windshield should be cleaned regularly - residue caused too much glare. Beware of truck being in tow-haul mode at startup. The button to fix that is at the end of the shifter. Truck was quick and easy to rent, drove well, and was quick and easy to return. Very convenient.

Mikal DThe steering had too much play. It was most notable coming out of a curve at hi-way speed. When the road straightened, there was an instant of wander, when you were expecting the truck to "track" straight. It may have been more or a steering box issue, than the alignment itself. The wiper blades looked good, but did not remove all of the rainwater from the windshield completely. The windshield wiper blades did not activate nor did any fluid dispense when the wiper blade control arm was depressed toward the steering wheel. The cab was clean and the box itself, was also.
CHRIS BThe customer service was excellent. The truck though was beyond unbearable and should not have been released. I had not driven a truck that big (26') and thought this must be normal to have a truck make this sound (seemed like you were at a race track but right in it). The steering wheel was not aligned correctly (that is, 9 and 3 o'clock) and was more like 8 and 2 O'clock. While a small annoyance it gets to you when looking at the gauges. I always like this place and the agent is very customer focused. I just wished he knew the truck had issues. Now I know to have the agent be present when I start the truck or at least call them over when it doesn't seem normal. This truck would have made even a small trip challenging!!! Guys, please check the mechanics of the truck...

The lighting outside the storage unit is good but why isn't there any motion detector lighting inside the units? I was moving a load of boxes onto one of your carts. Aidan (I'm not sure that's his name but he's very young) came over to me to ask if I needed help. I thought that was very nice of him.

The first time it happened, I made to formal manager to install a camera where my unit was. That did not happen. I went on a year deployment with the Army and when I got back to check on my unit, I found out that it has been broken into again. So, I went ahead and look for another company that would actually care for their costumers belonging.

If there's still a way to refund me, I'd like that please. There was often garbage in the hallways by the bay door that would sit there for weeks. The front desk wait times were often greater than 10 minutes, which was tedious when you're trying to get something basic, like a bay door key.

I contacted customer service at time of vacating. Was told it was done. March 1st i get message i owe for March, I call again & am told its done. Get email on intent to lein March 15. I call a third time, get Robert in customer service again, he was very nice, & again am told its taken care of. Will see. Was never able to contact uhaul on 35th, no answer & was sent to customer service each time. Everyone is short on help but this was frustrating. I'm hoping I don't get notified i still owe down the road. Until I moved out billing was fine & no problems.

Elsewhere we found a drive up garage that is twice the size of the two units we were renting for the same price.

I cancelled what was going to be a least a 12-month lease and rented a truck from someone else. At least two more truck rentals (including a long distance move) will be from a competitor. The access/loading area was often blocked by trailers making it a bit inconvenient for loading and unloading. Sometimes the access hours messed up our plans but not a huge deal. The only downside is it's a busy parking lot. There were frequently cars or trucks in the small area that would be available for loading. U-haul started storing a trailer in the area available for loading. If they made a dedicated parking area for accessing storage, I would give this 5 stars.

The only thing I regret is that I wish there would have been a longevity bonus or something for someone who spent that much money for 20 years storing stuff. I appreciated the staff and especially Marissa who is an exceptional human not to mention a great staff member. Thank you to all the varying staff who have kept my things safe for so many years.

They shrugged it off saying that was the old price. When we discovered the unit access was not ADA accessible (I have Multiple Sclerosis) we asked to move into a unit I could easily access and explained that I cannot do stairs. She picked out an ADA accessible unit, even though it cost more I reluctantly agreed. She ran my card for $131,16 I went to make sure I could access unit. and when I finally found it, the second unit was already rented and locked. At this point, I was exhausted and frustrated. I was angry that these employees seemed to be completely indifferent or lazy. They said they thought I wanted to add another unit and that is why I had to wait for a refund. Waiting for this error made me have to borrow money for another storage uniting West Seattle that was bigger, cheaper and actually vacant. They honored the sale price and my stuff is now in a different West Seattle facility. I tried working with staff but I was brushed off. Unacceptable.

This location is old and needs to be updated. I felt my items were safe and there was an alarm there. It was also very hard to get through to them on the phone.

There is also a rat trap in my unit. The trap says not to move it. Clearly, not too ideal for a 5x5 storage unit to have valuable floor space taken. I will be writing reviews on google and Yelp regarding this.

gregory s | Expérience généraleregarding my ranking of no on question y (recommending) u-haul storage - i would totally recommend based on Q1 thru Q5, but in my situation the rank is solely a cost reason. $194/mo is high for my needs (i really don't care too much about the contents anyway, and locker is bigger than necessary).... If it wasn't a free offer for the month, i would have had to find a much cheaper alternative.
Michelle G | Premières impressionsFor no reason they always had a lock on our storage unit when I ALWAYS paid on time. The original worker I talked to said that paying on the day it was due meant it was late (excuse me?), another coworker over heard this and told him that wasn't true and they shouldn't be locking our things. They got into an argument in front of us. Every time we had to have them unlock our unit they took their time and made us wait around 30 minutes. When we checked in with our key card the alarm guaranteed would still go off every time, but also no one ever checked on us when it did go off, so the staff just truly doesn't care or checks on anyones unit when the alarms go off. The automatic lights turn off after 2 minutes, so when we were in our storage unit we would have to run down the hallway every two minutes for the lights to turn back on. The layout was terrible and was impossible to quickly get our things since there was no ramp to roll our things down from the second floor with. We had to carry our items to the bottom of the stairs and then wheel them to our car. On our last day there, there was one worker who was in charge of the storage units and she has been the only helpful worker for the few years I have had to use this facility, I wish I got her name (but it is whoever is in charge of storage currently (9/27/21)) and she is the only one who seemed to follow any process or protocol. When she tried any protocol it seemed all the other co workers there were "too cool" or maybe just high, and would get in her way to do the right thing. She asked the red-headed guy with the beanie behind the counter if anyone did a final check on our storage unit, and he replied "whatever they're just going to sign." The thing was, we were waiting at our unit for someone to come check because they said they were sending an employee to do so, after waiting 30 minutes a different worker came up to tell us we had to move our car because they needed it for a truck (even he was abrasive, and did not wear a mask and we had to ride in an elevator with him.) On our way back up to move our car is when the red headed employee just told us to sign, so we were very confused that he made us wait 30 minutes next to our unit at all just to sign a paper that our unit was "checked." This is the most unprofessional establishment. But you know that already.

It was a major consideration when renting the unit only to find out it is limited to business hours, not the stated after hours access. I feel deceived and therefore do not feel I should be paying as much as I am. It is much harder for me to use this unit without the stated hours. I may need to take my business elsewhere as a result.

Kelly K | Expérience généraleOverall experience at the facility was great. The negative is that I had to drive there to confirm/'rent now' for the booking. The online system only 'reserved' but not guaranteed the booking - that felt misleading and created a sense of unease had I not followed up prior to the date I expected my reserved two storage units to be available. The gentlemen I spoke with showed on his end the two units I reserved but they were not visible for me to rent now online so I had to drive there to complete the booking. It was not clear to me in the online process that there is no elevator access to my unit and the instructions to access the unit were not specific to this facility. Knowing how to get into the storage area is unclear. There are available carts but the entry had a clock curb which makes the carts useless. I ended having to load and unload my items multiple times to even get them from my car to the unit because of the curb and the stairs. Nothing about this is convenient or conducive to an efficient move or storage. I would like to request a unit that is on the ground level or elevator accessible otherwise I need to cancel my service with uhaul.

JAMES H | Premières impressionsMy comments are based on 5-6 years of renting units from Uhaul and for the most part having awful experiences be the norm instead of the exception. The current manager has been exceptionally polite, professional, and helpful - Uhaul would be lucky to keep him. The flooding of my unit was handled poorly, but worst of all was the management's treatment of me at that time when I was not the cause of the flooding and damage to my stuff. I should have been compensated properly for the damage to my stuff, but I just am too exhausted to do all the work that should have been done by Uhaul to get reimbursed properly. It would have been nice if Uhaul had actually given me free rent for a while after that happened considering I was a customer for years and was a customer for years afterwards. The $500 wasn't nearly adequate to compensate for the damage and stress it caused. It would be nice if the hours to access our units were extended to 8pm, but it doesn't matter personally since I no longer have a unit. I am glad that the location hasn't shut down as it is convenient for all of us in West Seattle. I hope the friendlier service under the new manager is kept up - it's a nice change. In the past employees often were not trained adequately and couldn't do fundamental tasks involved in the job and it was extremely frustrating if a manager wasn't around to handle it. Hopefully employees are being trained more/better now.

The young female working was awesome but I didn't get a name. The youngish male was rude, snarky and completely unhelpful. He seemed to be some sort of supervisor. Also, I emailed and called the manager several times for help, due to Covid-19, in possibly waiving any late fees. I have always paid my storage, every month. I don't accrue late fees. Because of Covid, I have been late the last couple of months. I never heard anything back from anyone. I found somewhere else to store my things.

The unit was too expensive given how many units you have to rent, and on a corner street that is less than desirable. Even the "Please note" below is unacceptable given the world we live in now.
