We had stuff ruined by mice we had the smallest storage unit but ended up paying more then we paid on a car payment the staff was never at the office at their posted times so we had 1 late payment due to this and they locked our unit on top of that they raised the price and never called to notify or send a letter the lady had the nerve to yell at me when they were never in the office till the posted timeMichael H. | Expérience générale

We were initially disappointed that our unit had broken glass in it from the previous user. In addition, our unit was broken into (along with at least 10 others according to the police) - I asked if there was camera footage and they said there's only cameras on the front gate. Speaking of the front gate, it has a locking ability but was open 24 hours a day because they said closing it got in the way of the snow plows. Why not lock it in spring and summer? I reiterate, have the vehicles inspected for worn tires. When I picked up the van, the 2 tires on the drivers side rear were completely bald. One of them blew out 117 miles into my move. I sat on the side of the NY State thruway for 3 hours. This wouldn't have happened if the vehicle was properly maintained.William H.

Unfortunately no one was there. We had to phone them but it went to their voice mail. After about 30 - 45 mins later they called back and just asked us to leave the key in their box. Facility is generally in good shape. Access is easy because the gates are wide open 24/7. Not sure if there are issues as a result of that but I didn't hear of any break-ins or theft. Only complaint I have is that the communication was not great. Every time I emailed (with a question about my bill or account), I didn't receive a reply. There was no phone service to check the truck on or out, and nobody at the location to help. I was checked in over the phone before I even got the truck and they seemed pretty annoyed by the situation and the fact that I had called uhaul customer service. I needed to extend my reservation and asked if it would be the same $20/day the rental was and was told yet only to see in my bill that it was an extra $40/day. Overall unhappy and probably will look for a different moving company for my next move.Kara S.

Rolling door was an issue, but not a big issue. I will say, staff is hard to get ahold of but I only had to do that a few times. The storage unit worked well and the fact that it was accessible all the time and that you could get bigger trucks up to the unit made it a good spot to store stuff. To qualify my answer to Question 2: I was not there after dark, so cannot speak to the lighting. But in terms of the security of the facility, I can say that in the few times I was at there, there was no facility representative in any form in attendance. The facility's entry gate was left open and it appeared that anyone could enter the storage unit grounds at any time with ease -- good for renters but probably not good for the security of the units.Edward I. | Expérience générale
The location was fine. The truck was easily accessible and free from damage. Issues that I had at this location was that, as I tried to use the app to check out the vehicle, I was challenged by a lack of internet connection. There was no available wifi at the location and so I was forced to use my very weak cell signal, which made using the app cumbersome. Many submissions failed to upload. Ultimately, I had to call the office rep there to assist me with the check in manually. (It should be noted that this was the middle of the afternoon, during business hours.) And though the rep was accessible by phone (called her and she called me back within minutes), neither she nor anyone else was in the office on site. Still, it should be noted that she was helpful and resolved my issues in checking out the vehicle. The truck was free from damage and the cargo area was broom clean. However, the front of the truck was littered with splatters of dead bugs, presumably from the previous rental. Aesthetics aside, it was really about the windshield being filthy with the bug splats. I was ill-equipped to clean them off and the truck's washer/wiper had little to no effect on the windshield mess. So, I had to suffer with the distraction for a 3-1/2 hour drive to my destination. Given that the stuff I needed to move was at the very same self-storage location where I picked up the vehicle, which made it very convenient, I would recommend this location to a friend. The other issue I'd like to mention is that I was dismayed that my original reservation was automatically cancelled after arriving 2-hours late for my designated pickup time -- despite having been in phone conversations with the rental location's office rep alerting her that I was running late. So, when I arrived to pick up the vehicle two hours later than scheduled and I tried to check in with the app, it showed that that my reservation had been cancelled. So the rep had to establish a new reservation for me. This wouldn't have been so bad, but she said that she couldn't access the info from my original reservation, so had to take it all in anew. Though it didn't take long, it was a bit frustrating.Edward I.

Dropping off at this location was tough as I was after hours and due to no cell service I tried to do the electronic drop off but was unsuccessful. This would be my only complaint especially if I'm charged the additional fee because I couldn't do the electronic return due to an issue out of my control.Tim R.

There was a rat infestation that directly impacted my unit. Not certain why but there was a problem for sure. Perhaps better seals between units can help prevent an infestation as it appeared to have come from the unit on the opposite side.Matthew S. | Expérience générale
Was told to drop at location A, but location A was not a drop off point. So after an hour of driving around town and trying to find other locations the uhaul reps I talked to told me I was lying and even though paperwork said location A, that I was wrong and supposed to drop 30 mins out of the wayChad H.

Area has very poor Wifi, so online checking in and returning is impossible. Business is open until 5pm, but people leave earlier. We had trouble picking up our vehicle and called the business, but they did not reply until 2 1/2 hours later. We are not the first to have this exact same problem. Read online reviews.Robert G.
We attempted to rectify a lost key situation but were unable to until 2 days later. Meanwhile, the truck never left the lot yet we were charged almost $50 for mileage. Although this may be a rare situation, we ended up paying for U-Haul's inability to problem solve the situation, to include charges for non-use of the truck. We also received numerous calls about the truck and it appeared no one read the notes regarding the truck status, so we had to repeat ourselves over and over...Thomas H.

The truck had a flat tire. I reported this to the front desk attendant BEFORE I left. She came outside kicked the tires a few times and said it was the weather. She must think I'm stupid! I was old enough to be her mother and have driving more miles than she could ever imagine. So no! It was not a problem with the weather - it was a slow puncture. The air pressure was 32! With the wait I carried in that truck it was dangerous to have a problem with the tires. I swept out the truck and cleaned it to tue best of my ability. I have NEVER heard of paying for a rental to go to the car wash! So why am I being charged for this? Unreasonable! You made $547 from a faulty truck rental!Rosamund R.

Scheduled Uhaul rental for 4 pm with appliance dolly. Website, hours on door, and google all said they were open until 5 pm. I showed up to pick up my rental and no one was there. Must have called the numbers on the door (both of them) about 20 times and left messages. I received a call back about 4:45 pm and she got me the truck but couldn't get me the appliance dolly because she had â€œleft for the dayâ€. I had scheduled to pick the washer and dryer up at 5 pm. I asked if she could come back to get me the dolly because I was going to pick up a washer and dryer. She wouldn't come back for the same reason... â€œshe had left for the dayâ€. The place is supposed to be open until 5!!!! Bad business. No effort at all to satisfy the customer. Terrible customer service. Would not recommend to anyone.Eric F.

The process to pick up the truck was extremely frustrating. Because I was running slightly late (10 mins tops) they made it so I couldn't retrieve my truck online resulting in a 45 minute delay in getting the truck because I had to call the Uhaul 800 number to get service. Pick up was quick and Easy. This part does not concern this location as much as customer service. Customer service over phone was terrible when I first made the reservation they changed the location and the scheduler was not helpful until about 20 minutes into the call. The App is terrible, and should be supported by free we-fi at sites that rely on it. There is a hole in cellphone coverage at the site in Bennington. The App would get to the final screen before losing connectivity. If I drove away to get a better signal, the App wouldn't complete the transaction because I was too far away. If I stayed at the site, the App wouldn't complete the transaction because of connectivity issues. If the App is required, please make Wi-Fi available at all sites.David B.

#1 have person behind counter knowledgeable of current policies I was informed at time of pickup at Bennington Self Storage that I was allotted 197 miles for my one way trip and that if my miles were less than that I would be credited if I was over I would pay extra. At conclusion of my trip I returned my uhaul with 177 miles traveled expecting a credit on my bill I was then told by the gentleman at uhaul that wasn't the policy and the other person was wrong. #2 When I initially picked up U-Haul in Bennington-VT I was told that was all set and had been inspected. I then left facility and about a 1/4 mile down the road I noticed the windshield was filthy I tried the windshield washer and no fluid would come out. I then pulled over and called the Bennington-VT office and spoke to woman there and explained the situation to her she couldn't believe it and said hang on a minute I'll check to see if I have windshield washer fluid.I waited 5-7 minutes on phone no one ever came back to phone in my disbelief I finally hung up the phone. I immediately called back the same number and my call went to voicemail I left my name and number and to please call me back. For the 2-3 hours I was loading my U-Haul up I constantly kept checking my phone to see if anyone had called me back about the windshield washer fluid but no one ever did. So I decided I would stop at a gas station and purchase some windshield washer fluid but I could never get the hood release to open the hood on the U-Haul truck so I had to drive 177 miles in a vehicle with no fluid and I had to stop on the mass pike numerous occasions to clean my windshield with the snow on the side of the road very dangerous to say the least I will never rent a U-Haul again because of this experience. What you can do to improve for the customer is to have someone who knows what there talking about and not give out misinformation to there PAYING customer. Also have a vehicle that has been properly checked for any discrepancies and one where you can access the engine.Robert T.

The national service should be more precise. The uhaul trailer was not actually secured for me until I made contact with my pick up location. If I had not decided to contact the pick up location to be on the safe side I would not have been guaranteed use of the trailer.eric F.
