Cruise control on trucks for long distance traveling

Kelly CoghlanAll in all my experience was terrible. The unit I rented was on the second floor, and there was zero elevator at this location. Therefore I could not move all my stuff into it and when I asked for a different unit that was on the ground floor they upsold me told me there was only a massive unit left which was an extra hundred dollars a month and I had no choice but to accept that because by this time I had already moved all my stuff from Austin here and had no else to put it so it felt a little predatorial how they treated me. And by renting a U-Haul truck I'm supposed to get a first month free for my unit but of course that doesn't apply to the new unit I had to get because I couldn't unload my stuff into a second floor walk up unit. This was the worst experience I've ever had and after I move my stuff out, I will never use U-Haul again for anything.

christopher MottleyOur non-profit rents the 26' moving van for large events we put on 5-6 times per year. We move most of our equipment and supplies in black plastic bins and wheeled carts. We have noticed that starting last year that the newer trucks have loading ramps that are probably 3' shorter than the older ramps. This means a significantly steeper ramp which also has a very steep transition on the last foot at ground contact. This makes it much more difficult to get heavy loads up and down the ramps.

Slightly frustrating that we were notified at 6pm the night before that the original reserved pick up location and equipment (including a very necessary furniture dolly) was not available. It wasn't this location's fault, but an overall piece of the uhaul experience. The nice lady at this location took good care of us and got us ready for the next morning pick up.

I explained more than once that I did not know the mileage and told the agent several times the location of where I was going, the agent only gave me 15 miles and I ended up using 27 miles. I felt as though this was a set up because I expressed several times I didn't know if that would be enough. I accept that I should have googled where I was going to better gauge the distance but also the agents do this way more often than I do ... so I really felt like I was taken advantage of - what turned out to be a $20+ plus trip was $63,01 in the end. That bothered me.

donald greenreturned the truck right after closing only to witness a fight (exchange of words) breaking out between two other customers returning equipment that appears to only escalate. Before I could complete my check out. I only returned the key in the drop box and got out of there quickly. I'm 71 y.o. and don't need drama like that in my life, no one does. Security on the premises after hours could have prevented this unpleasant experience.

I was also under this property had an elevator, however it was stairs only. I would have rented at a different property knowing these things. Lastly, I have an email receipt saying I qualified for a free first month. When I checked in I was told that was only for 5x10 units. I asked since I had two if I could get one of them free and was told that was not possible. I arrived ready to pay $7 for my unit and left paying $124. I wish there would have been more communication so I could have discerned if this was the right property for my needs.

The best thing other than the Staff was they eagerly refunded my money when I wasn't pleased.

David Castillo | Expérience généraleI made my reservation online and when I arrived was told the unit I had reserved was not available. The only one that was available was almost 3 times the price. They called the closest other facility and they also did not have the right unit available so was going to be double what I reserved. Staff on location said "that has nothing to do with us it goes through corporate we can't help you." It took 20 mins of waiting before finally one offered 1 month free in the expensive one and now I have to go back to move all my stuff at my own cost when the correct unit becomes available.

Once I was charged, I realized that it was was inside and the unit that was given to me was not there. So I ended up having to get a bigger unit. It was a very frustrating situation and even though I did end up with a unit it was bigger and more expensive than what I have originally wanted to reserve.

Had to change units but the staff wasn't very motivated to change it until I continually complained. This was a Sunday and a manger with the authority to do so was not on site. I was moved finally that same day. Since then, I have been contacted twice stating they didn't know which unit was mine. First time, we corrected the issue then a week later I was asked again because they lost the paperwork that I drove up there to fill out. Their organization is terrible and very unprofessional!

I spent almost an hour (and $50 for hired Labor) waiting for my unit. When it was finally handed over, it was on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator in the facility. Large heavy items would have to be moved in the staircase which would be extremely difficult. I had to cancel the storage. Very disappointing and expensive.

My biggest concern there now is the fact that the lighting is not working at night so it's very very dark and unsafe. I spoke with facility yesterday and they told me that it was a problem that stemmed from the ice storm but he's working to get that fixed waiting on the electrician but I explain to him that is very dangerous and he said he would get on it right away again. The entire staff here is very helpful though so I know he'll get it done.

He helped me get a better unit because I found out the original storage unit I booked online was upstairs and he had no elevator so Nigel Hilliard found me a ground unit outside to help because I did not have help unloading my truck. Nigel also tried to help me as much as he could with my truck dilemma but unfortunately the system would not allow him to help me more than what he wanted to but he has fantastic customer service skills and he definitely should be promoted to a better position if possible because you need more people like him in your establishment.

I also rented a truck and materials. Upon arrival I was told the moving materials I rented were not available. However, the truck I was assigned ended up having the supplies inside. The staff did not seem informed of who was coming in/going out that day plus they were understaffed. Though my overall experience was not satisfactory, Victor, the manager, did a good job rectifying the situation.
