The people working at this location were helpful, however it wasn't the location I chose for my pickup. The location I chose was in walking distance and the one I was sent to was so far away I had to pay for an Uber to get there. It was very disappointing and added stress to an already stressful moving day.

I dropped my car off at 1pm for the appointment and they didn't even start working on it until like 4... please try to make the appointment times accurate. My time is valuable. Alternatively if the garage is backed up call me and tell me so I can drop of the car later and do things in the meantime.

Brian BorzymTruck was dirty, I had to stop at a gas station to clean mirrors and windshield. Appeared to be pet hair in the cab. There was a warning light on the dashboard saying to check the gas cap. I asked the employee about it and he just said I should be fine without really addressing the issue. This was an out of state one way move. I was not ok, but I don't think it was related to the gas cap issue. Lost power steering at the end of the trip, possibly due to a disconnected hose. How often is routine maintainance done on your vehicles? I lost all trust in your reliability. I will never use U Haul again, and I will caution others to do the same.

The only thing is they forgot to take the shipping bolts off when the container was dropped off at the second location, but the woman who dropped it off was really great and offered to get supplies so that we could open the container.

They had no answers for it and if I didn't notice it after the second billing I was getting $130 taken out every month so literally no reason. It over drafted my card and was not told when I would get that money back

Maybe also would be good to have more than 1 person knowing there were many truck rentals and it was sat morning.

WILFREDO CALIXTO DOMINGUEZI rented a 10 footer, when the truck was delivered the truck was completely covered with snow. I cleared the side windows my self and the wipers cleared the windshield upon entering I noticed the check engine light was on, I requested another truck when delivered full of snow I asked if they could clear off the snow for me. They did a quick brush off, i still had to clean it myself. Other than that i guess it is what we have come to expect from customer service.

Angel MirandaWork with me, I'm given two quotes, I don't understand how it's cheaper to drop off equipment somewhere else only to pick it up immediately during a multipart move. I tried to explain my situation and it was like talking to a brick wall. The representative at the next location was much more amenable and helpful.
Matthew FaustMy husband definitely left an expensive pair of new sunglasses in the truck. Called a few hours later and they had magically disappeared. Our fault but it leaves a bad impression that the staff stole them instead of giving them back. Make sure you collect all your belongings before you leave because you won't get them back.
MArk buttonAlthough our in-person experience was helpful and breezy, our online experience was less than exceptional. When we arrived at the U-Haul facility, we experienced issues with verification and communication on U-Haul's end, as we waited and retried having codes sent to confirm identity and emergency contact information. Hopefully the online system is improved to be a bit more efficient. It is very user-friendly, just not efficient and timely, it lags automated communications on certain steps.

Caesar VarelaTwo times in a row the last one I rented had a flat tire as soon as I went to pick the vehicle up the tire went down completely out of air. This rental I just used was auto transport as well and there was a big, huge string tied to the axle, which locked up the rear tire up. I had to stop what I was doing and take out the string. Don't ask me who put a big rope in there, but it was a big rope in there and it looked like a belong to a boat. They didn't even bother checking that they sent it out without checking the equipment.
Michael MunozI originally made a reservation (23351795) for a different location that was within walking distance of my home. U-haul called me the morning of my reservation, just 4 hours before I was scheduled to pick up the truck, and informed me that they would not honor it because there were not any trucks at the location I had reserved that could do online check in. If this was the case, I should have been told far enough in advance to make alternative plans or not been able to make this reservation in the first place. The customer service rep that called showed no empathy, did not offer any compensation for U-haul's inability to honor my reservation, and only offered the option to get a truck at this Avondale location instead, which is not walking distance from my home. I asked them to cancel my reservation because this customer service and experience was unacceptable to me. They did not cancel my reservation despite what I asked and what they confirmed they would do. I then shift my reservation to Avondale knowing I will now have to drive and leave my car at the location because given the last minute nature, I was not able to shift to another rental provider - it felt like U-haul had purposefully waited until the last minute to prevent me from making an alternate plan. Then upon arriving at the Avondale U-haul location, they cancel my reservation and create a new one it seems and inform me that they do not allow parking at their location. U-haul forced me to shift to this location where I had to drive to get to it, instead of the location I could walk to, and they won't even let me park at it. Overall, what I have gotten out of this experience is that I should not count on U-haul to honor any reservation nor provide even a shred of customer service or regard for the customer experience. This was such a poor experience, I will not be trusting U-haul with any move in the future.

JOHN MITCHELL | Expérience généraleThe good points - the van was ready at the time specified and check out was fine. The vehicle operated fine also. The bad points (1) sending out a vehicle that gets poor mileage with a quarter of tank of gas and having to return it with that amount of gas is absurd. It's obviously a way for U-Haul to obtain extra gas from customers. This is completely transparent and if it's your company policy, it's obscene. (2) the back of the vehicle was very wet - like the cleaning process from the previous rental consisted of simply hosing down the inside and not drying it. Kind of a problem when someone is loading up boxes that are not waterproof and they break, destroying peoples items. Your staff can't take the extra 5 minutes to dry the back off with a few towels?? Nice service. (3) If I didn't review the bill I would have been charged for insurance coverage I declined online when I checked in. I was told by the woman at the desk (who removed the charge after some arguing with me) that when a customer registers for the pick up online (which I did because it is strongly suggested to "help save time at checkout") he/she is automatically charged for the insurance. If this is true, it's even more disgusting than your gas policy. Needless to say, I won't be using your online check-in service again. Overall a pretty lousy experience. However, in general your staff is pretty nice and didn't put up too much of a fight on the insurance refund.

This later caused issues with our auto payment - we never received payment reminders via email or text and our payment didn't go through. when we came to move out, the elevator was broken and we had to move our stuff down the stairs. The manager said he's busy and will come the next day to figure it out but we already rented everything and made arrangements. Seems like this location has a lot of technical issues from our few experiences there.

When I made my truck reservation, I saw a message on the site that said you could get a month of storage free with a truck rental. So I did that. I was then very surprised when I arrived at the storage facility, saw even more signs advertising this special, and the full amount was charged to my account anyway. I went to the office to try to straighten this out and get the special I ordered and was given absolutely no help at all. Nearly every response to my questions were "I don't know". The best she said she could do was offer me a free lock. (?) Which I don't need since that already came with the unit and doesn't at all solve the problem. I then had an issue with the access code to the unit. I showed the same employee my access code and asked for assistance since it wasn't working. She again responded with "I don't know" and mentioned something about purchasing extended hours access...which I have no idea why I would need since it was not even close to being after 10pm. Thankfully I was able to get in myself, but I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to someone else after the terrible experience we had. If this issue was resolved, I would raise my rating, but as of right now this place barely earned 1 star.

I went inside to pick up a rental truck and check-in for my rental unit to provide my renters insurance, redeem my free lock and the free month of storage email that I recieved after renting the truck. I was told I needed to get back in line to handle my rental unit after picking up my vehicle because there was a line. I went to the truck and pulled it up to the entrance and the door was already locked 15 minutes early. I stopped an associate to ask if I can be let in, I was told no and that my lock would be in the storage unit. When I found my unit there was no lock provided, I then pressed the customer service button in the facility and was told to come back to the store. I retrieved the lock but was refused when I tried to discuss the free storage promotion. Once I moved my belongings in, I realized that the latch was stuck and I could not close it to lock it. My husband had to run to a gas station to get WD40 just to get the latch unstuck. Overall, it was a very negative experience.

However my poor rating goes to the first staff I had to encounter after being in line for about 20 minutes. She wasn't professional and respectful. Upon arriving at the counter, I said I'm here for my storage reservation. She didn't take the time to look at her screen and check, replying "we do not have any available storage" without asking me what specifically I was looking for. I reminded her about my reservation and that I checked two times over the phone, a few days prior to that day and she showed no concern, referring me to the 800 number even though she has full access to that facility on Kedzie. I said, can you offer me something else since I counted on this space and I just got less attention and care as if she just wanted to skip serving me as a customer. she insisted no one has moved as of today, then no unit were to be available. I had a feeling she wasn't doing her job. Asking to speak to her manager, Charles, I finally realized that they do have two units available. Charles was very professional and I'm only dissatisfied with the staff poor communication and service. I had put all the efforts to reserve a space, and even double checking by calling the 800 number and the facility itself, and had I not been helped by the manager, who was temporarily outside at the time of this whole encounter, all my moving plans would've been ruined. It's the first time I've had to experience such attitude at a uhaul. Merci!

The staff was amazing they are very fun and make great jokes. That hill at the front is a bit treacherous but i made it up fine with out any damage to my garbage. I also rented the biggest Uhaul truck I have ever driven there and that was very intimidating but i made it back safely. Great experience thanks for holding my crap!

I then get a phone number of the manager to call so I utilize it and he starts texting me. He gives me a unit and which is smaller than what I reserved and when I get to the unit with the movers I'm paying BY THE HOUR...There is a pipe in the middle of it. I spend more money than I predicted all due to lack of professionalism and horrible logistics on uhuals part.

My only complaints/frustrations are: 1) requiring a round lock on the unit that is 3x the amount of a regular lock. Very annoying. 2) Hard to get ahold of someone via phone. They pick up and answer "please hold" without even asking who it is or the reason for the call. Tried for over an hour one day and kept getting the same response. Not great for customer service

I only used the space for a month or so and started seeking other locations because the $97 rate was going to strain me due to my recent unemployment. I found a similar space down the street that was $61 cheaper. The staff at this location we're also not cordial or friendly. Their demeanor was more like,"I'm just here to do my job. Don't want to know about your day or you.". Don't get me wrong, everyone has a bad day-but I experienced this attitude from more than one person on more than one occasion.

I prepped and reserved those two services online to speed up my visit on site but my visit took longer than expected due to some errors at the front desk. After my initial check in the storage unit process was not completed. I was also directed to a unit number that was in use by mistake. Not a great customer service experience. A side note: during my visit the U-haul reps were not wearing their face masks. They were however behind their plexiglass desk shields. My understanding it is strongly enforced by CDPH and BACP and may be something Uhaul upper management will have to review immediately.

I love that the unit is armed when I am not there and is easily disarmed when I arrive. There were carts to use for free. I had all my stuff moved into a unit within a few trips because of the carts. Overall a very good experience.

Also we had taken the time to pre-register with our drivers license info. But when we came in to pick up keys, the staff was not able to load our reservation (problems with the network, they said) so they had to do it all over again. That's pretty frustrating when you're trying to avoid close contact with people and you've also spent your own time to take pictures of licenses etc.
