So my fiancÃ© and I moved from Long Beach, CA to Austin, Texas recently. There were no trucks available to rent until December but we were moving mid November so we had to rent the U-boxes. We were quoted a price then charged 200 $more than that. We tried to get the 200 $removed from our quote, someone said they would correct it but the price never changed. Then when we received the email that our U-boxes are here in Austin on the 24th, we called to have someone drop them off outside our apartment (since we were told that was part of our quote, having someone drop them off) and the lady was rude and just kept talking about mover help. She also told us our U-boxes are in Austin, 10 minutes away, but they can't be dropped off until December 6. But of course guess what they also charge, even though we have no control over that and would love our U-boxes right away, rent! So we were going to get charged an extra 150 $for them to drop our boxes off outside our apartment on the 6th but also get charged another almost 400 $for renting the boxes on the 5th. So we decided to go to the U-haul store ten minutes away and see if they can do anything to help. All they suggested is that we rent one of their trucks for a day and they could attach our U-boxes one at a time to the back of the truck until we were done unloading. Overall very annoying experience and they say there aren't any hidden fees but it seems like there are.Joseph M.

Be Patient - the UHaul process is a lengthy process and the employees are just doing their job following this process. If you get frustrated because of the waiting - blame the process not the workers. UHaul could do several things what would expedite the rental process. This is where they could improve their customer service - invest more in the digital process.REED H.

The girl that helped me was not friendly in the least bit, although she did her job well. It would have been nice to have a smile, she seemed like she was not happy to be there. Same with the guy checking in my vehicle. There were two vehicles ahead of me and I pulled up and got out. He told me to get back in a van, that was already difficult to climb into and move the car forward. He didn't seem happy either.GRETCHEN W.

Make key drop easier. The picture didn't look anything like what it looked like or where it was. It was also hidden behind returned trailers. I wandered around the lot for like 15 min trying to find it. Extremely inconvenient.VALERIE L.

Upon return, while in the cabin of the vehicle, the employee who received the truck asked if I filled the gas to the level it was at before use. I said I did and showed him 2 time-marked photographs of the gas gauge before and after use (he could also see the physical gauge just inches from his face in the driver's seat). The 'after' pic and physical gauge clearly showed there was more gas in the vehicle than when I received it. He then asked if I wanted the total price. I said yes. I then asked to see the charges itemized and he said he already submitted them but that he sent the receipt to my email address. I walked away, bringing the receipt up on my phone. The employee had wrongly charged me 4,50 $ for a gallon of gas anyway. I then walked into the U-Haul rental office. I showed the staff what happened and the manager took care of it quickly and professionally. In fact, the few times I've dealt with that manager have been great. The guy is a class act.Anthony C.

My original pick up was supposed to be the Slaughter location...my reservation says Slaughter location. When I go pick up the truck...they switched locations to the Ben White location. I never book at the Ben White location because I never have a good experience with that location. Why the guy at the get upset at me for asking why the price I was quoted and the price he to told me was different is beyond me. Caleb runs a a good crew here. It's great to see familiar faces and know that is will get in and out quick. The new faces were surprising and fun. The truck drove like the magic school bus. It fit all the goods and got moved with no damage. The blankets covered everything. Just like a blanket. It was really easy to understand what I needed to do, as I don't use UHAUL all that often. The front desk gentleman named Adrian was really sweet and talked through the process to me with ease and helped me understand what I needed to do. I appreciate his kindness and his calm nature.RACHEL F.

I returned the trailer after hours so the location was empty of personnel. Although the location was clean, it seemed to have a high volume so it was packed with trailers and trucks. We worked our way to the equipment rental area and found it was well marked and instructions were clearly posted. Being after hours, though, the location was only moderately lit and there were transient people there digging through the trash bins. It was a bit scary and uncomfortable. I will recommend that my friends use the location only during the day and not after hours.STEPHAN S.

The truck wouldn't start after picking it up and driving no further than 20 miles. Seems that it was either a battery or alternator issue, which I obviously can't fault the location for. But U-Haul corporate roadside assistance took more than 45 minutes ON HOLD for me to speak to someone about what could possibly be done to move forward with this. This is also after I had filed an online claim for roadside assistance and gotten zero update about a service provider located, ETA, or anything else. Finally my girlfriend was able to walk to a gas station down Interstate 35 to buy a set of jumper cables and we were able to get the U-Haul truck jumped off and taken back home. Again, can't fault the office for the issues with that specific truck. But the general lack of timeliness and glaring lack of any meaningful communication on behalf of U-Haul is what the real problem is here. Oh, I was also supposed to hear back from a U-Haul rep yesterday who was going to refund my U-Haul charges and reimburse us for the purchase of jumper cables. I still haven't heard from anyone at U-Haul corporate.DANIEL B.

The parking lot was torn up and dirty. They charge me for 11 gallons of gasoline and I was much closer to 5 gallons low when I turned it in. The back of the truck was not dirty but the pads were not folded.Robert S.
Bad customer service I went in person to reserve the truck went I went to pick it up on Sunday they couldn't find my reservation I got very upset the guy that help was rude with me like he hated that I was complaining. While I was dealing with my problem I got a phone call from a location wait North out of my way asking me if I still needed it. The lady that took my reservation never told me that I could pick up the truck from another location. I specifically told her that I was picking up at Ben White location she said yes the truck was going to be there. So yes I am very upset with your customer service.ZOILA B.

Need better ETA arrival. This can be done with a simple phone call or e-mail. This allows Customer to quickly be at U-haul to pick up. This reduces congestion at the store. Also, your "delivered" price is way too high. That's why we picked up ourselves.Kenneth O.

I drove directly to U-Haul from Greenville, SC, to meet movers at a particular time and was beyond stressed. There was a minor mishap with the online reservation for my storage unit but Caleb was AMAZING! He was really sensitive to my situation and was extremely kind, helpful, and accommodating. He really came through for me in this highly stressful situation. The facility was impeccably clean and carefully monitored, I felt very safe here. Pulled up to begin unloading items to place in storage and was told by an employee I am not allowed to park where I was. I explained we were taking items into our storage unit which was why I was parked up front by the door leading inside the building. He stated where I was parked was "their" parking and customers can't park there. When I asked where we should move he stated he didn't know but I can't stay where I'm at. Another vehicle pulled up and parked close to the entrance to begin unloading to which the employee told them "you can't park here". We both asked again where we should park and the employee began to get frustrated only stating "I don't know but not here". We were not blocking the flow of traffic for other customers or other employees to move trailers, cars , trucks etc. Overall I was rather shocked by the employee's statements and lack of help to know where we should park to unload.Mark P. | Online Move In

The elevator broke after my first trip to the second floor. The staff was difficult to reach, did not answer the phone or assistance button until a few tries. Somebody broke into my storage unit and threw my clothes/items all over the unit. Nothing was stolen, but it was certainly less than ideal. The only saving grace was Mandi, as she was super helpful and understanding through the whole process. She deserves a pay raise and promotion.
