I love what you offer. Convenience and simplicity and abundant resources. I am grateful to have you around. I had my first issue with one of your trucks, stemming from a faulty gauge, which I reported. It was an issue, because the truck had less than a quarter tank, and it ran out of gas still reflecting an 1/8th of a tank. It happened in a dangerous place. I would change your policy, allowing trucks to go out with less than a quarter tank to avoid issues like this. All customers returning it with a full tank, should be the requirement. I was overcharged and this was past on to the manager to immediately review and correct the charge. The conversation was at around 2:00pm between Chris (who was wonderful the entire time) to his boss. There is now an incorrect bill on my credit card and it should have been expedited ASAP. I want both bills to be refunded due to not taking care of business in a timely manner.

I had trouble with the mobile app when I had to scan the back of my license. Couldn't get it to work, even after following directions to give my browser permission to access my camera. So I had to go inside and it took a bunch of extra time. Not sure if the problem was my phone or the way your site works. The front license photo worked fine.

We were suppose to pick up our equipment at the uhaul in SACO ME. Fortunately, we were able to find it in Portland. I love the portland ME Uhaul. The Saco ME Uhaul not so much. We waited 30 minutes to find out they did not have our equipment.

The service was very friendly. The truck I rented was not parked near the front service desk. I went looking for it, couldn't find it, had to go back and ask. The guy helped me find it tucked away, parallel parked between two other trucks. The guy cleaned it off and I had to sit there for another 20 minutes while the windshield defrosted. When you reserve a truck, it should be pulled up front and be ready to drive off the lot at the time of your reservation. There were also dirty napkins in the cup holder.

The entrance/exit to the lot was a bit confusing. The Uhaul staff members weren't wearing masks indoors which was concerning since we had to wait in line for a bit in close quarters. Otherwise, everyone was very friendly, helpful and kind. Merci.

The staff does not have the training or support they need. I spent about 3 hours in waiting to for your systems to get fixed so I could have the correct equipment. Had duplicate u-boxes when I only wanted one, was given a damaged u-box, second u-box was missing ramp pins. Location has only one person that can use forklifts so my box was left out in the snow over the weekend. U-boxes at this location are in bad shape and are abused.

The pickup experience was terrible. They couldn't find the size/specific trailer that I was supposed to rent. I was in the lobby for over an hour and ultimately had to rent a smaller trailer. The trailer itself was great and the drop off was very easy.

Wade McLaughlin is a horrible representative of U-Haul. Threatening, intimidating and unprofessional. When working with one of the biggest corporations in the US one would think he would act right. Not only did he do injustice by USPS but talking with my collaborates from FEDEX and UPS they feel the exact same! Even locations that rent out the U-Hauls express their dislike with Wade and his manner. U-Haul should look into this. He has now lost a major portion of revenue for U-Haul as USPS will not be working with them again in this area.

The truck has a faulty grounding wire underneath the rear bumper which bumps into the brake lights and the trailer lights shorts out the wires causing a total loss of power to the brake lights. Took us 2 hours to figure out the grounding wire was touching the wires for the brake lights. Had to check periodically throughout the drive across the country to make sure the two wires weren't in danger of touching again. It was a minor annouance.

We had to wait over an hour past our pick up time to get the van that we booked. The gas tank was below what the employee told us it was at. The van hadn't been cleared of snow at all. The person working the desk was both extremely slow and rude (you can only be one of those things, not both at the same time).

Truck had less than a quarter of a tank of gas when I picked it up. I recommend more gas to start with. It was an immediate hassle ding fuel.

I'd call in advance if the truck rented is not available. Showing up to larger than expected truck was stressful to a driver not used to driving 26' foot long trucks.

the aisles in this store block the views of the check out / cashiers. you are not able to see if there are people at the cashier station because of the way items are stacked. you have to guess who is available or wait to hear the cashier holler out that they are available.

In general the Portland 295 Marginal Way is my favorite truck rental location. It would be helpful, however, if the counter reps were better informed about the “Reservation Guaranteed or we will pay you $50” on the website for this location when reserving. Also helpful would be better online process so the location can actually see reservations made in the last hour or two. Makes for a complicated check in process when the counter rep doesn't see an existing, confirmed, reservation, then doesn't know anything about the reservation guarantee. Overall a great location, great staff, though these transaction glitches slow the process and make for aggravation for both customer and staff.

Many false starts and much confusion using the website even though I talked to Customer Service on about 5 occasions over the week leading up to picking up the vehicle. Some resolution on telephone= but I wasn't sure that I actually had a vehicle of any type, how long I had to use the vehicle (Needed 1 full day and got 4 hours here and 6 hours there- many confusing confirmations and directions on which location to pick it up until almost the last minute. This was all about online and had nothing to do with the local store. A young man at the Portland, Maine office had me up and going with the proper vehicle. for the proper duration. He apologized for the confusion, stating he could see why I was concerned based on the several emails order confirmations, location and time changes he could see on his screen. From that point on, the experience was more than tolerable. Finally, I had the proper vehicle for the proper amount of time and was appropriately charged for what use I made of it. The only sore point was that I got the vehicle 1 day later than promised, inconveniencing those who had come to help this blind man move.

My uhaul got towed the day I had rented it because I used your “convenient” truck share 24/7 system but the employees at this location are consistently (I say confidently as this is my third rental this year) neglectful and not around, let alone aware of what's happening when they are. Anyway, at 9 pm my uhaul was getting towed because it was apparently stolen, this cost me 50 out of pocket, when I showed my reservation to the tow guys, it wasn't sufficient because we don't receive anything with our rented license plate for proof. They called uhaul, who said it wasn't stolen so they unhooked the Rental from the tow truck, only for uhaul to call back saying actually it is stolen. I could not make this up. I had a 3 day rental and returned after 20 hours because of all the additional costs and headache they dragged me through. Truck worked fine otherwise

My recent experiences with this UHaul location, Marginal Way Portland ME, have all been positive. Jess and Luna and others both at the desk and outside at check-in have all been professional, polite, and prompt. Great staff like that is what creates a repeat customer.

inside of windshield was dirty and interfered with visibility. Dirty fork left under seat. Would have preferred starting with a full tank of gas to make it easier and more accurate to return vehicle with same amount of fuel.

Most things with this particular LOCATION were fine. All of my complaints have to do with U-Haul's SYSTEMS: 1) The system allowed us to reserve a van even though one wasn't available. 2) When I picked up a pickup truck--the substitute vehicle--I was charged for the dolly and pads that I picked up PLUS the dolly and pads that were part of the original reservation--even though these were the same things. 3) I returned the vehicle, dolly, and pads within 8 hours of renting but was charged for 3 days (this part might have been a LOCATION error). It took an hour on the phone over Thanksgiving weekend to get that sorted out, but I'm still getting collections e-mails. Each part of the process that involved interacting with U-Haul staff was relatively positive, but U-Haul's technology seems to be lacking.

Your front desk staff was so bad I was there crying last night at 7p trying to move my items into storage. She was confused, explained things incorrectly, and left out pertinent information like the loading bay closes at 5....not 10. I had to go back to the office a total of 5 times for various reasons because she was so so bad. She said the key card was activated, it was not, she lost my account and couldn't find me again somehow, she said there would be a lock in the unit and had me put away the one I was purchasing....there was no lock. Just all around awful experience, would never recommend.

App said to pick up my van in the parking lot. Spent 20 minutes in freezing weather hunting in the 3 parking lots this site has. Went in to ask to be told that it was locked in the bay. No apology. Then after I finally got the van, while driving I got a haranguing phone call telling me I hadn't checked out. I guess the app didn't register that. Rude service. Van with very dirty windows. Crappy experience.

I am a very upset cat person. You have an employee living on the property supposedly in a uhaul van (I am not knocking them for being homeless) but this employee ALSO had a Silver Dodge Grand Caravan in the parking lot with THREE homeless cats in the freezing cold BY THEMSELVES! I broke down crying when I saw those babies. I have reported it to the worker whom checked me out for the cargo van and I have called Portland PD non emergency line as well as the animal control line. This is unacceptable that those cats who do not have a voice have to suffer in the freezing cold.

The store manager, Ryan, could not have been nicer. We had a bad UHaul truck rental experience in Massachusetts, and the storage experience in Maine was the antithesis of that. It was truly exceptional even though our larger space had gone to someone online, I walked out not feeling bad about it. A+++ UHaul!! The whole staff at this facility is nice!

Im not sure why I'm rating my "move in" experience now. That is actually stressful.., to get a message that implies there is a mix up of some kind. Ive had my storage space for 4 years! Everything else has been really pleasant.

We were told a storage unit was included with our truck rental. When we arrived no unit was reserved. We got that straightened out and then told we had to buy a round lock. We did. Then in the storage unit was a new round lock. So we moved our stuff in and went to get a refund on the purchased lock. We were told that the lock was necessary and no refund would be given. If we had gone to the storage unit first we would have had a free lock. After going round and round we asked for the manager who refunded our lock purchase. Bad communication and somewhat rude and non understanding staff

I want to take a moment to praise one of your employees at the Marginal Way location in Portland, Maine. Ryan Lent waited on me several times over the past month when I was there for vehicle rentals and returns, and purchasing moving supplies. Ryan was also there on the day I moved my belongings into the storage unit. Ryan walked me to the unit, assisted with the lock, explained the process.
