A lobby full of customers only one person helping them. I had a fuel issue when picking up the vehicle. They directed me to a link on my contract which I never found, because they could not adjust it themselves. Exactly what I thought would happened. I was charged for fuel. According to their math the truck required five gallons of gas for the 29 miles I drove it. That's less than 6 miles a gallon. Ridiculous! A semi truck gets better gas mileage than that. As soon as I get another free moment I will contact the location where I rented the truck to dispute the additional fuel charge.Manuel E.
I was charged a fuel surcharge and fuel even though I put more than the needed gas in the van before returning it. I had to call the corporate number to resolve this. When I dropped the van off at 5:30pm an overweight man was sitting down eating a cup of noodles and told me to just leave the key on the counter and go and that he would take care of it.Steven G.

Corner units are in the sun and summer heat exceeds temperature "climate control" standards. I want to give a 1 star rating, but that would be unfair to the staff. My complaint seems to derive from a U-Haul corporate policy. The staff we're very friendly. The van was clean and in good shape. My only complaint was that I received the van with only 3/4 tank of gas. When refilling the van before returning, it is impossible to know how much gas to put it to reach 3/4 tank.. Therefore, its almost assured that U-Haul will get their van back with more gas in it than when they lent it out. If the tank is returned with less gas then U-Haul will charge over $6 a gallon to fill it. It's hard to view this as anything else but a scam. All vehicles should be lent out with a full tank so that the renter can put the correct amount of gas back in it.Adam M.

the back of the truck had trash that was not cleaned out before we rented the truck ,i cleaned the back out before we droped it off i asked the lady at the counter if i was going to get $25 credit sinse i cleaned it out and thats what y'all charge ,i only think its fair why is allright for y'all to charge for a dirty truck and i cant sinse i cleaned out a trashy truckPhilip A.

Worst experience ever... Got a confirmation email at 8 pm the night before for one location, showed up, wanted for an hour, and was told my truck was at a location 15 miles north... went there and waited another hour and the customer services was lackluster. They're position was "tough" when I asked about being charged per mile and having to drive an extra 30 miles (there and back).... won't be using Uhaul in the future.Josh C.

This was my second reservation for the day because the first reservation did not have the 6x12 available for me. Huge inconvenience, but it wouldn't have been if I had been notified by email, text or phone call that my trailer was not available. You would have less upset customers, if you would just communicate a pick up location update or cancelation.Patrick J.

I used the U-Haul website to find a specific location and made my reservation. Not until I called to confirm did I learn that the pick up location was different. The website should not offer locations if the rental truck will not be available. The pick up experience was supposed to be fast since I did everything U-Haul requested to make the pick up process fast. Wasted time completing paperwork all over again. I was told someone would be at the Slaughter location until 6:30pm. No one was there at 6:10pm when the rental truck was returned. Wasted time because the drop box was in an obscure place, not near the office door.JEFFERY B.

The only complaint I have is that around during my dropoff I didn't feel safe, the surrounding have poor lightning and there was a person crossing with a bike with a mask and backpack I had to stay on the truck until I felt safe.Maria M.

I scheduled my return for 7:00pm online. This is also the time at which this location closes. When I returned at 7:00, the staff has already closed the store. In addition, they charged me an extra $50 for refueling the truck, which was returned at the same level (1/4 tank) as at pickup. I will not be using U-Haul again in the future.Matthew S.

I reserved a truck at a location in Kyle, TX. When I went to see where I would pick the truck up, the business was closed. I called U-Haul and that is when they informed me that my reservation was sent to another location for pick up. I never received an email with the changes (thank goodness I called). When I got the text message to go ahead and upload my driver's license the link continued to not work, I call U-Haul again. The gentleman said that my reservation was not even confirmed. So after talking to multiple people earlier I was still in shock that this was not confirmed. The gentleman confirms my appointment. I get to the pick up location and I see my truck, I do the inspection and sign the documents and pay. I go to get in the cab and the key didn't work that they gave me. Talked to the employees and they stated they have not been able to locate the key all day to that specific truck. Well why was there not another truck ready for my 6pm reservation? They did bring me another truck same size and said they would register that one under me. Next day I bring the truck back and the gentleman goes â€œoh we thought this truck was missingâ€, they never registered it under me. I pray I don't get dinged if something is wrong with that truck from a previous driver. Overall just one bad thing after another. You really need to update your website on where people can reserve a U-Haul if the business is no longer there. This was absolutely messy and frustrating. I'm sure no one will see this or reach out. Never had an experience like this with U-Haul before. Very disappointing.Carmen R.
Gave me a dangerous trailer with a broken ball mount locking mechanism. Released from my hitch on the highway. Upon return, (20 min later) staff member noticed that the trailer had been logged down for repair, but another staff member had reactivated it without repair to known issue. Resulted in a very dangerous situation. At least the first staff member noted the issue and set me up with a non-broken trailer for the rest of the day.Brian M.

chz burg meal no tomatoes no special sauce i reserved a 10 ft uhaul truck online from 12-4 when i got there i was helped by xavier who was very friendly we got to the checkout process and had the keys in our hand and then we were told that we were banned and to call a number and talk to someone to find out why. we called and were told that our emergency contact had a balance from 2009 and that was the reason we couldn't rent which made no sense bc the emergency contact isn't renting it, but the woman on the phone removed the balance bc it was a very small balance and said that we should be good to go back inside and get the truck. when we went back inside xavier was off the clock and going home so we were help by someone else totally fine except the woman trying to help us was asking questions to get the process started again and the general manager at the other register kept talking over her and asking the same questions while she was also helping someone else at her register they then told me bc i had a last minute reservation that there were no trucks available. which isn't my fault that i reserved something online that said it was available only to find out it wasn't. no crime in that but she made me feel like it was my fault. then she said we could take a 15 ft truck for 3 hours and then like 15 mins later handed us the same keys xavier handed us for the 10 ft truck and said we had to bring it back by 3:30. at this point it was 1 and we were already behind. we went outside and the truck we needed was double parked we asked for help and they said they would add another hour bc they were sorry it was such a trouble, so we wait another 15 mins for them to eventually say they couldn't do that bc someone else was going to pick it up right after us. which was more wasted time. the guy that we asked to help us get our truck out was just rude and seemed annoyed with us. overall it was a more stressful experience when moving is already so stressful. the manager seemed like a micro manager and trying to please everyone at the same time, saying yes to walk ins when people had reservations already that couldn't be filled. and i wasn't going to complain to them bc obviously it was a rough day and it's not entirely their fault, they also had two 15 ft trucks stolen that morning. however overall it was not a great experience.jonah E.

Ordered a utility dolly with our 15' truck rental. Went to pick up the truck and was told no dolly was available. However...I could BUY ONE. There in the office were 4 for sale. That's ridiculous. We did not purchase one . The interior of truck was filthy. It looked as though a landscaper had rented it prior to us. It was full of dirt. The interior cab space was also filthy. The fuel level that was recorded was also 1/4 tank off at time of pick up. In other words...nothing about the rental was correct.Gary D.

I reserved a 26' truck over a month in advance and was told less than 24 hours before pickup that it was not available. When I arrived there was a 26' truck in the parking lot. I was told by a regional call center that my rate was super low and they didnt know how I got the truck. So, Uhaul just kicked me out of my truck and ruined my move all over $100. Terrible service. All employees were very helpful and accommodating. The cashier was extremely patient with me. Even when he showed me were the storage size facilities were, the girl next to him knew I couldn't open them and opened them for me. They even offered me water. The young man who helped me with my boxes was extremely helpful with picking them out. He was also helpful with loading them up. There is a women up front that works the reservations at the Slaughter/IH 35 location in Austin. . I wish I had gotten her name, but she made my move somewhat enjoyable. The agent explained that the unit was abandoned and it hadn't been seized and emptied yet. The fact that the website and onsite accounting could be so far off was really disappointing. U-Haul at Slaughter doesn't answer phones. During the pandemic, I went inside and only one worker, Jeanie was wearing a mask. Social distancing was not taken seriously. I had to call the national office numerous times to get a message to Ross the manager there. I had major heart surgery and didn't want to go back inside again because it was a risk to my health. Messed up my billing and illegally locked me out of my unit. I called days ahead and was told by management that everything was taken care of, but was still locked out when I arrived with professional movers. Had to wait a half hour in long line for someone to unlock the unit. Even though I moved out on the 6th, was still made to pay for the full month through the 26th.Jason L. | Expérience générale

~ The truck has a very annoying, high-pitched whistle which occurs at about 70 miles an hour; not very fun on a 24-hour road trip! Seems to come from the driver's-side windshield, in the corner. ~ The air conditioning would also simply cut off, for no reason, causing us to scramble about playing with dials, etc. until it began working again. ~ The young man I initially spoke with about accessing our free 1-month self storage unit was more interested in telling me what was wrong-- i.e. he wasn't finding a reservation made from the Holland, Michigan store-- than in how to help me remedy the situation. I literally had to ask him, "So is there anything you can do to help me fix this instead of telling me what is wrong?" He immediately responded, "Oh! I can make a reservation for you." Why wasn't that his first suggestion?! ~ When I arrived to get my storage unit the help seemed unsure of what they were doing. When we were finally assigned a unit and took our first load up, we opened the unlocked unit to fin d it full of someone else's stuff! When I returned to the office, no explanation was offered for the mix-up and no apology for the inconvenience. When I moved in the alarm system was malfunctioning and there didn't seem to be any urgency in fixing it. Also, the after hours entry system didn't work.
