Deliver on expectations. Our box was supposed to arrive Wednesday. We received a call Wednesday saying it would be delivered Monday and we were moving out of the province Saturday. They agreed to deliver it Thursday, no one called us Thursday so we had to call multiple times and were told three times it would be delivered. By the end of the day we called and were told it wouldn’t arrive. We drove to the location ourselves and had to pay to rent a truck and trailer to deliver our own box. We had less than 12 hours to pack it up because we had to return the truck we were forced to rent by 8am. We were charged multiple times, no one apologized and when we dropped off our box the rep couldn’t tell us the address of the location in the city we were shipping it to.

The online rental was annoying. If it wasn’t for the male employee behind the counter being so helpful I would have left and cancel. So he is the reason I stayed. Returning was the same deal but the female behind the counter was helpful to. I don’t want to the work of taking pictures and filling out reports online.

The clerk took 45 minutes to handle this Express checkout. The process had to be done on a smartphone, but mine would not connect to this location's WiFI. I had to use the clerk's phone, which was an ancient 4" iPhone; when I recommended that U-Haul use a tablet instead, I was told "that's all they give us." Part way through the check-put process, it timed out, and we had to start from the beginning again. The clerk explained the $25,000 insurance coverage (which I declined) but did not explain that it does not cover damage to the roof. During the check-out process, I indicated that I did not want to pay the extra $5 in case the truck got stuck in snow (n that sunny August day. The clerk added the fee anyhow, which I later removed. The clerk handed me the key, and then I had to find the truck on my own, trying the key in one truck after another until I finally found it. I did not receive a phone call the day before from U-Haul. Well, apparently I did, but I do not answer a call from a phone number I did not recognize at 6:32am. U-Haul apparently does not know about time zones. I returned the truck with much more gas than I picked it up with, but did not receive a credit. It is not possible, in my estimation, to fill a tank to 5/8ths full. My first -- and last -- time renting from U-Haul. I think you can see why.

Stop uhaul truck 24/7 self pickup system. A NIGHTMARE to use, not user friendly and no options if things go wrong. I wonder what I am paying for as I was asked to do all the work and to enter details which were already in your system. What was even more frustrating I was not asked if I wanted to use the self registering system but just moved onto it. I will certainly think twice before hiring again

I never got the additional equipment I was charged for as well as having to rent the trunk thru mobile as the location is having issues with bylaw. I was scheduled to pick up my rental at 1230 and didnt end up leaving the compound until 130 as there were glitches in the system when doing rental thru mobile. I was only scheduled 4 hours by strata for my move in which was supposed to start at 2. I scheduled truck for 1230 so I'd be able to get the 1st load in on time to get everything done. I was not able to get my move 100% done due to the issues at this location. On top of that I was told it closed at 5 and since I had truck until 630 I could drop off and put key in drop box. I did so and was charged an additional $20.. on top of the $7 for a dolly I didn't receive or get to use. There were other people having issues and I feel bad for the guy working. So once the mobile stuff went thru I hurried in an attempt to get to my move quickly and so that other people on site could hurry with their day. Not very happy as moving is already stressful and due to the difficulties at this location my move became very hectic and incomplete.

Truck Share online pick-up is worst. Uhaul need to improve this service. It shouldn't take long. When I started pick up process, I've added damage protection, and at the end it showed me I don't have the damage protection. I tried to add it again it took me more than an hour, cancelling and starting again and again. Frustrated..

The online process of creating an account and inspecting/photographing the truck before and after as the customer is terrible. Slow, difficult, online system also did not fully work. It took at least an extra half hour on site after you book on line. U-Haul should pay me for being thier employee. I will use a different rental company with service employees next time. They said they were just a storage company. The trucks that customers rent online have nothing to do with them. Pretty sure the whole thing is called u haul.

The pick up of our equipment went well. Drop off was a different story. We were asked to be at the drop off at 9:00 am. The employee did not show until 9:15 and then just buzzed us in a waved us through. We put the U-Haul right back where we picked up (exactly the same spot) and when we came back to the front, we were told it had to go elsewhere so we had to hitch it all up again and move it to a new location. This could have been explained to us before we dropped it off, or as we were coming through the gate. Drop off took almost an hour before we were complete and we were able to leave.

My only issue is the system froze halfway through processing which made it difficult for the desk staff to help me - they figured things out and dealt with the situation wonderfully, but maybe some work could be done on the computer systems to make it more stable.

What should have been a simple process of checking in, took over an hour because of the ridiculous mandatory phone app check-in. There were way to many hoops to jump through, and each one required jumping between screens on my phone. Then, of course, what had been on the previous screen wasn't saved when I went back to it. I had to hand my phone to the service girl several times, a very uncomfortable process. In the meantime, other people called or came in, all requiring assistance. We were shunted aside, while we kept working on the clunky phone app. Then, we were finally given the go ahead to retrieve our vehicle - and of course, this was all self-serve as well. Ridiculous. Checking out wasn't any better - the guy had no idea who we were, as our check in apparently hadn't synced in the morning. Drop the stupid phone app, have at least two staff on hand, and start actually serving people at the counter.

The staff at this location was excellent and very helpful. The truck provided was also clean, quite new and perfect for out needs. The check in system is total crap. it took us over an hour to process the rental with multiple calls to a processing centre in the States and many text messages between the helpful staff at this location and staff at the central office. I will never again use U-Haul because of the truly terrible smartphone dependent check in and return system. I've rated the location "above average" but the check-in experience was the worst I've ever had with a rental in over 40 years.

Your “express” check in system is very very very poor and so many glitches. The poor staff at this location handled a lot of stress today with line ups out the door. If a location is strictly storage facility. Than you should NOT BE ALLOWED TO PICK UP THERE! Part of the problem! People want customer service!!! Not to be standing there trying to check in yourself on your phone ..... It took 30 mins to check in and 45-1 hour to check out.. which you consider “express” both times wouldn’t work had to get staff assistance. Absolutely Ridiculous service. The staff were fantastic and handled things very well. Had staff been allowed to just do a proper check in like any other car rental place it would be so much faster and less stressful for both staff and customers. Debating whether to ever use U-Haul again.

The changes in process to actually rent a vehicle are a little ridiculous. Making customers do the whole process from their phone, being forced to take selfies, phone calls to alternate contacts, waiting for approvals from someone in another country. Took 30 mins+ to complete rental and way too long to complete return. Overall service was good but process could be streamlined.

I don't often answer these surveys but I feel so ripped off I feel I need to do so this time. Your website said there was a van available at Abby wireless but I called Abby just to make sure and they said 'no there isn't one' and they were unsure why the website keeps saying there is. A lady called me that night and confirmed that I would be able to pick a vehicle up at hazlewood instead, which is fine. She sent me a text message confirming this. The next day I get an email saying to pick up at Abby wireless instead. Naturally, I'm going to go off the most recent communication (the email). I make my way over to Abby wireless and the employee tells me that they have no van and he doesn't know why the email was sent out. Essentially confirming what he told me the day before over the phone. I get on the phone with uhaul and after being tossed back and forth between people, I'm finally told that my van is at hazlewood again. I was at Abby wireless at 430, on time and now I have to drive across town to hazlewood, late. I make it to hazlewood and my gosh, what a frustrating process. I'm not sure why you require use of the app so much. My data was at it's limit so I had to use the clerk's phone to go through the process. He is literally sitting in front of the computer, no one in the store, why do we have to go through the app!? After the app acts up and doesn't register my photos properly, the attendee has to call his supervisor to get help. We finally get to the point where I just enter my driver's license info manually instead of pictures, it gets reviewed, and I can rent the van. Must have been at least 520 before I left. By the time I can get to the furniture store, they're near closed and cannot keep it open long enough for me to make all the trips I needed to. Now I have to come back again next week to finish the job and take more time off work. Overall, just a frustrating experience and it looks like uhaul's technology and miscommunication are the culprits.

The location itself was excellent and staff were excellent. As far as UHaul as a business it was terrible. We had to order our truck online and the app was so confusing we had to actually have the staff go onto our phone and do it for us. And returning it a couple of hours later was no better. The total kept coming up as owing $2700. The time wasted. The staff were able to fix it. It was something we never would have figured out on our own. We will not use uhaul again. Which is unfortunate as we have used you for years. And that poor staff that has to deal with this. Wow! Disappointing to say the least.

Uhaul necessitating credit card for use of pick-up truck or Van but not for the ten foot and larger cube trucks- delayed/complicated my move. Unhappy with the new way of doing things on a phone- (I am Old fashioned with carpal tunnel syndrome.) I know others who prefer not to monkey around with things we haven't and do not want to do. Worker was helpful to myself and others. location was great _ U haul new methods were a pain in the __SS. The Van was wonderful! the rear view camera a nice touch

Robin, Stephanie, Lori, and the young man (maybe Jared?) we’re great! Robin is so wonderful, patient and helpful - the first person that helped me with my reservation. Stephanie is a gem, she is calm and so positive. I would rent from this location in a heartbeat! The entire team has excellent service and I could not speak more highly of them! There were some stressful points with UHaul (One of the American phone representatives) but as for the Hazelwood location in Abbotsford they were excellent and made Moving a better experience. Had to book on line only. The employee had me fill out a form,. complete with pictures, not only of me, my driver's license and finally the mileage, gas gage on the vehicle. Needed to set up an account with UHaul. Very nice employee, only doing her job. She needed to go through this process, because this was primarily a storage unit. Pain in the butt, but the vehicle was nice and lived up to standards Hopefully next time it will take a much shorter time. Please don't blame the employee, she was just doing a job dictated by someone nowhere near where I picked up the vehicle..

You have good people who work here - your app is so poor and requires way too many steps and then doesn’t work at all. I spent way more time trying to do everything myself and then having it not work which required someone to intervene and then call a manager. Keep people and let them do their jobs which is customer service! I hope I never have to rent a vehicle from you again just because of the app. The woman who helped me was stellar in trying to resolve the problem caused by your automation, I hope you recognize her for her help,

The rep I dealt with Robin was terrific however this system of yours is terrible. What is the point of doing the online application when you have to do it again when you pick up your vehicle. Your person in Texas who contacted my wife was totally rude to her, accusing us of being late when in fact I went to your facility an hour and a half early.I am still waiting for my deposit back, as I do this I have paid twice for this vehicle rental. I have used U Haul on at least 10 previous occasions and it was a lot easier than this. I won't use you again, there are many other rental companies out there.

I booked a van for 6am pick up. I recieved a phone call confirming that I could pick the van up at 6am at the Uhaul location on Hazelwood ave. We arrived at 6am and found out that the store doesn’t open until 7am. We phoned head office and spoke to Don in Phoenix. He told us that we needed the app to pick up a vehicle before 7am which was not mentioned to me when I booked the appointment, when I spoke on the phone to the uhaul representative confirming my appointment nor was it mentioned in the text message confirmation I received. Don did his best to help us through the app and once we got to the point where we would type in a code to open the box where the keys would be, we still didn’t have a solution for getting through the locked gate to find the box with the keys in it. Don then said we would have to wait until 7am. Once we came back at 7, the girl at the desk was very rude and mono tone. Didn’t offer any help to help us through the paper work to get the van and said we had to do it all on our app. The van itself was perfect. But we set up the 6am pick up time because we had a market to be at by 8am. We didn’t get to that market until after 9am and were charged a fee for late set up and hurt our reputation with this market. When we returned the van, a different girl was understanding about our frustration and gave us the rental fee $20 off and said there should be a fuel charge even though we had filled the tank back to 3/8 full. When we got the van, the tank was just under 3/8 full which shows in the pre inspection photo. So in reality, we got 20$ off for Uhauls mistake which cost us 4 times that much in late fees and lost sales. When you book a truck online for pick up earlier than 7am, a pop up window should appear explaining that you need an app to pick up that early and have the truck at a location that allows access that early!!! Very unsatisfied and will not be using uhaul again. Rude un helpful staff ( except for Don).

The fact that you can call and book to rent equipment from this company in advance and have them tell you it’s not guaranteed that you will be able to pick up said equipment has added more than necessary stress to and already stressful situation If I am calling in advance to book equipment it should be guaranteed to be there the day that I need it. I should not be getting a call a few days before I move on whether I can pick up my stuff or not.

I have been dealing with the Abbotsford (Hazelwood Ave.) location now for years and have always been quite satisfied with the service I've received. This past weekend I needed to rent a van for a short move and had to use the U-Haul Truck Share 24/7 process to reserve and then obtain a vehicle. I was NOT impressed with the ponderous and very "repetitive" and NON-USER FRIENDLY process I had to navigate in order to simply 'get' the vehicle I had already 'reserved' "on-line" a few days prior to pick up. When I arrived at my prescribed time I was shocked to discover much of the information I'd already provided now required me to provide this information AGAIN...and now using my cellphone! Thank God for the staff (Sabrina I believe her name was) who understood my frustration and helped me navigate the final check-out process (taking pictures of my Driver's License etc.) ***This type of information SHOULD have been able to be done PRIOR to arrival at the pick-up location which would have made it much more efficient for the customer and the staff at the location! The U-Haul staff should have been able to simply "verify" this by checking the customers driver's license or proper photo identification! The 'Truck Share 24/7' process as it exists now is both cumbersome, time consuming and frustrating for both customers AND your U-Haul staff who are placed in a difficult position dealing with customers who are very frustrated with the whole ordeal! I would likely go and rent a vehicle from another vendor locally that has a more 'user friendly' and time efficient method of renting a vehicle! AGAIN let me stress this was NOT the fault of your staff! They were VERY HELPFUL AND UNDERSTANDING and should be commended for working within such a ridiculous rental format! Eliminate the new process of requiring a downloaded Internet UHAUL App to sign out a vehicle. It was gery painful & took too much time. Supposedly a new process as a result of UHAUL having to abide by a new City of Abbotsford Bylaw. This was not a pleasant experience. The employee at the front desk was patient & a Godsend in terms of helping me thru the process & if not for her help, I would have went elsewhere to rent a vehicle.

Hazelwood Ave facility Mgr is very good. Lights burned out in hall by my unit. Having hall lights on 10 min timer is extremely unsafe. Every 10 min I was left in the dark. Safety hazard. Liability.
