We reserved a 26' Uhaul for our moving day and they had overbooked, so they offered a very very small amount off that we couldn't even utilize because by the time we got a truck the stuff was already transported after 5 trips back and forth with friends cars and trailers. They let us use a trailer while we waited for the 26' truck, but still charged us for the trailer. The kicker is that the people moving next to us in our complex had a 26' uhaul and when we asked where they got it, they said the same place didn't have a small one available when they got there, so they gave them the 26' uhaul… unbelievably bad experience on a moving day where we had to be out of our apartment.
Jeff K.U-Haul Ann Arbor is extremely understaffed and not motivated to provide good customer service. Never will rent from them again never recommending them. They rented me the wrong trailer on my contract all together then made me pay for it even though I said they have the wrong trailer on the contract.

On drop off, no paperwork but also nothing to indicate that the rental was being processed in some way so that you would know what to expect or how you would be credited for returning the rental on time. It worked out fine, but some way of communicating the acknowledgement of the return would take the mystery out of the process.
James P.Inform the customers that the mileage estimate determines an actual charge if you under estimate. This was not clear and I had to ask multiple questions when dropping the vehicle off to even figure this out.

SEAN M.Car transport trailer that was received was fish tailing and when we called the location they never answered and when we called customer support they wanted us to pull over and wait 40+ min while they located a provider to change the worn out tires on the trailer, gas is not cheap and waiting with 4 little kids is not easy! Would not recommend them as there very unprofessional! They should inspect there equipment before renting it out!!

Kyle P.U-Box arrived a week behind schedule, I was given no notification that it would be late until the day it was supposed to arrive. I spent 3 days on the phone with different groups in customer service, and it took almost 10 hours of me on the phone to locate where the U-Box was. At this point (3 days after it's supposed to arrive), the driver will not commit to a date at which the box will actually make it to my area.

Jun W.I think you can start by looking into the actions of your employees. Considering they tried to commit FRAUD by charging me for things I was never given such as two utility dolly's that I supposedly “stole.†then when confronted, they tried to blame a different employee for the mistake. And tried to avoid refunding me for THEIR mistake. I think you might want to investigate the employees at this location and figure out what else they might be up to. Otherwise I will never use uhaul again. Absolute criminals there and they should be investigated.
Mark E.Storage was great and what I paid for. I was disappointed about the price hike toward the end of my lease but like everything else I expected it. Only issue was trying to contact the office to end my storage lease. I submitted an online form and tried contacting the office for two weeks before I just went in person to ensure it was closed. The phone systems rerouted to a general line and never went directly to the store.

JAMES TYLER M.Wait time was to long since I did most everything online ahead of time. The door on the enclosed trailer stuck closed. I had to pry it open. When I opened the door the rollers on the door were dry with no lubricant making open and closing the door very hard.

Simply walking past a line that spans half the store, I got yelled at to wait in line and uhaul employees kept quiet even though I mentioned I'm doing mobile pickup. Not enough customer parking at this location either.

Sandra D.The reason I stated no is that I rented the auto trailer on 5/13/22 @11:30am for 20 hours. I returned it at 7pm on 5/13/22 and dropped it off in the same location. Over 1 week later I received a voicemail asking me when I was going to return the trailer. When I called I was routed to the National call center and they recorded everything and told me the Ann Arbor store would be calling me, they NEVER did! I left two more voicemails and nothing, until I received this email telling me that everything was completed. Think they really need to fix there system in Ann Arbor.

Michael K.When I picked up the truck the agent asked for my "estimated" return time. I said 4:30PM. We returned at 4:50PM. Upon review of my receipt I found I was charged for an extra day. When I asked about the charges I was told I was late with my return time. After some discussion the matter was resolved and I was issued a refund. The agents need to be more transparent I what estimated return time really means for a customer.

They worked with me to set a fee which ended up less costly than I thought it would be. I will return to this location for any future needs. Brandon spent time and found the better deal for me.
David H.Make sure to not overbook so that the Uhaul we reserved is available. We reserved a 26 foot and all that was available was a 10 foot. They did the best that they could at that point to help, and the front desk people were very friendly, but put our business in a really difficult spot.

Theresa W.Slide up door on 5x8 trailer was difficult to lift, needs oil or maintenance. Also the handle to lock the door needed to be wiggled and moved to get the handle to latch. I've rented other trailers like this and they did not have this issue, others worked perfectly

Called the office to ask the reason for the charge, and I was told the manager would call back that day - I never received a call. During pickup, multiple people were told their reservation was made improperly and a truck was not available for them.

Gary went the extra mile and took us personally back to the units. We were on a very tight schedule and we got unloaded (had to go with indoor units, plural) in a very short time and on our way. Customer service at its best. You may want to check the 15ft truck tie rods, etc. as the handling seemed little loose. Keep these people though!! If I could give more stars, I would.

Phone call to customer service didn't show any issues with our account and left it to us to resolve. Thankfully we didn't need after- hour access again, but that is the reason for the slightly lower rating.

The location was understaffed which led to very long wait times to check-in and to get on the road. The staff available were extremely polite and as helpful as possible. U-Haul's mobile check-in does not work. This is not a complaint about the location. They do not control the app. This is on corporate. Tons of pressure could have been taken off the limited staff had this app worked properly.

Was given a storage unit only to find it already had a lock on it... and then this happened a second time... and each time took way too long to figure out. The staff were overwhelmed and poorly managed by the manager on site. What should have been a 30 min MAX experience turned into 1,5hrs of my time. It seemed like they were also missing a truck, which contributed to the disorganized chaos.

I'm likely to call the customer service hotline to see if something can be done, e.g., a free month, a lower monthly rate, etc. I made the reservation more than two months before it started - you should change your system so that it doesn't allow new reservations if it's unlikely there will be space available on the start date.

Katy S. | Expérience généraleWhen I arrived my unit had a zip-tie on it and no lock inside, which was the only thing I needed to actually get started. I had to go in the office and ask for one, which makes the online no-contact reservation idea pointless. I was able to figure it out, but the system of arming and disarming alarms at one panel, and opening the building doors at a different panel, was very confusing. I heard one alarm go off while I was moving in, and I'm sure that happens all the time. The unit numbering is also very confusing, and it took me a while to find the correct building (I'm in the 1600s). Going from the 1400s to the 2000s, and having the 1600s out front, makes no sense. Finally, the stairs to the upstairs units have a lip on them that makes it much harder to pull a dolly up them.

Tried again, hold for 25 minutes then routed to corporate answering service. They claim some random reason why the Uhaul website was wrong for the free month. They got through to the office in minutes. I was promised a reversal of charges. The original charge to card was not canceled. It went through. Received email of credit, but it hasn't hit my credit card. This free month seems like such a sham. Traveling out of state having bogus charges on my card is bad business and inconvenient during economic mayhem due to the virus. I'm disgusted.

Donovan C. | Expérience généraleDear Austin Brown, I've had half a dozen excellent experiences w State St. Uhaul renting vehicles/trailers over the years (at least one of them directly with you), so when I needed storage space, it was a no-brainer, but I was sadly disappointed in the service I got. I reserved a 10x15 space online, and went to get access to it the following week (Tue Aug 4), Michael Fender was rude and exasperated to start, and let me know that the website's listed hours of access were wrong, requiring me to pay $10/mo more; and though it's not listed anywhere on the website, I had to provide or buy a discus-style lock. So far, not great, but workable. Then, my access card didn't work, and when I went back to the front to get it re-programmed, exasperation and rudeness increased. Then, when I finally got to the unit, there was a lock on it. After visually confirming, we went back to the front desk, and Michael searched for another 10x15 unit, but there were only 10x10 (too small for my needs) and 10x20 (too expensive for my budget). He was willing to waive the 24-hour access fee, and give me the lock for free, but I was only going to keep 24-hour access for a month anyway, so that didn't nearly make me whole for the difference of the price of the 10x15 and the 10x20. His only solution at that point was to direct me to the next available 10x15 unit *in Westland* which didn't work for that day (i needed to be somewhere *with my vehicle emptied* in 20 minutes), nor did it work for me in the long-run, being 25 minutes each way too far from my home base. I was understandably frustrated and rather than listen to my frustration, and acknowledge that, he sharply told me that he would not adjust the price to fit my needs, nor could the manager. As someone who manages people myself, and has had to deal with corporate bureaucracy, *I* would want the opportunity to address a repeat-customer's frustration myself, rather than risk losing their referrals and business forever, having been dismissed rudely by a front line worker. There was a line of 7 people and one worker, who do to policies such as requiring a visual check when someone vacates their unit, meant this worker had to walk all over the property as he was helping customers. He and the customers would have benefited from another staff person being available
